Nice atmosphere, cozy and romantic without being stuffy. Definitely not like anything else we have here in Columbus. Excellent cocktail menu and extensive wine list. The wait staff was attentive but I think a little distracted by a large party in the other section of the restaurant. All of the food was delicious, well prepared, and well presented. My only gripe would be that the timing of everything was a little off. Not surprising given that the place had only been open a couple of days when we went. Once they get it down to a science, I'm sure the experience will smooth out a bit. Overall, a very worthwhile experience. The chef is out to prove that this type of cuisine can survive in our sometimes, shall we say....reserved city. This was by far one of the best meals I've ever eaten, which is saying a lot. We went there to celebrate my husband's change of command. Five adults, each ordering a signature drink to start off with, an appetizer, an entrée, and dessert plus one bottle of wine, one double espresso and two additional signature drinks. Total bill was $400, $500 with tip. The tip was very well deserved, at no time did we feel rushed during the mea. I especially appreciate our waiter not removing the rest of the plates while I was still eating. Everyone in our party is notorious for being very picky about food quality, food service, and the overall dining experience. All of us were very pleased with everything and very much enjoyed the tour of the kitchen after our meal. My husband mentioned it was like being on the set of one of the TV cooking shows. The only regret I have is that my husband will no longer be stationed there and we only found this place right before he was getting ready to move. I don't give this recommendation lightly, this restaurant inspired me to join yelp and start giving reviews to restaurants, especially deserving ones. This is definitely one of Columbus's best restaurants. My husband and I enjoyed a very romantic anniversary dinner there. Service was polite and overall impeccable. Epic has a delicious and unique menu (my husband had the bison, I had the pork), and I particularly enjoyed the creative, literature-themed cocktail list. However, it was very expensive - too expensive for what it was, and where it was (no one needs to spend that much money on dinner in Columbus.) Check out Meritage nearby. Without a doubt the best restaurant in Columbus. My wife and I have been several times, (dinner, chef's table, and just drinks) and have had an amazing experience each time. The bacon & eggs sous vide and a signature cocktail are required with every visit. The staff and Jamie are all warm, engaging, and make you feel at home. Epic is expensive but well worth it. Went on valentines day and they had a special menu with limited options.... We ordered the 6 course meal and I'll just say this....THEY FORGOT OUR SALAD COURSE....seriously, who does that? Food was great, but how can you claim to be upscale dinning and can't get the course service correct? WOW! This is was a world class experience! So, I'm a military guy and have traveled around the world and have eaten at some of the finest restaurants out there. This is my new number one until something else knocks it off. It was our anniversary and as I always do, I find an upscale restaurant to wine and dine my queen. Only this time, I'm not in Honolulu where we lived for the past five years and tons of upscale places to choose from. So I decided to give Epic a try to support the local flavor. From the time we entered the door and was greeted by the hostess until we finished with a grand tour of the kitchen, this place was exquisite. Keep in mind, I don't write many reviews and I'm extremely critical of everything, especially restaurants. The food quality was perfect. Seasoned with perfection in every area. My water glass was always full and my server explained everything we asked about in detail. I will return to Epic sometime soon just to have this experience again. I would put this place up against some other top notch restaurants you hear about and I know it will win just off of quality of service overall. If you ever make your way to Columbus Georgia, or are anywhere near it, EPIC Is a must. The ambiance, the service, the quality of the food is top notch. It was the highlight of our trip in Georgia. We were so surprised to find a restaurant of this caliber in Columbus. The staff was incredibly friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The pride and attention to detail was exceptional. The food was good but the 20% added gratuity for a party of three for barely adequate service and the additional tax added to the gratuity was tacky at best, and wholly unnecessary. Also, bringing out one French press for three people and charging full price for coffee is just poor taste. Do better epic. Treat your customers better and stop trying to swindle them at every single opportunity. read more

Exquisite! We made a reservation for date night and sat in the quiet private room. I am gluten intolerant and was so incredibly elated that they paid so much detail to my restrictions and brought me the gluten friendly version of everything my boyfriend had. The food was just amazing. I never expected how wonderful it was! Next time we go back we would love to go for appetizers or dessert and sit in the main dining room and listen to the live music being played! Epic was AMAZING!!!!!!! There were four of us and we ordered four of the prix frixe menus and sampled; all was heavenly!!!! The corn bisque so creamy, the chicken, sounds odd to comment on but AMAZING, like spring on a plate, the fried strawberries were surrounded in billowy cinnamon sugar dough!!!!! I could go on and on, not to mention the phenomenal service! Wow, we were so well cared for at EPIC! It was an EPIC experience for sure! My husband and I went to Epic for an anniversary and everything was great! Excellent service from the entire staff and the food was wonderful. Nice ambience and decor. We had the 5 cheese plate to start...they were all good and there was plenty, we couldn't even finish it. It came with strawberries and a few dipping sauces for the crackers. After moving to Columbus in 2012 from D.C. I was looking for an upscale 5 star type restaurant since I was home sick and Columbus restaurants are mostly chain. I was ecstatic when I heard it was opening and went there for my birthday. All I can say is EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE which is rare for Columbus, but you really do get what you pay for. I could go on and on about this place, but I want you to check it out for yourself because it's a MUST! Simply incredible food in Columbus. An experience best had in the restaurant rather than read on a Yelp review. A year and a half later I still look for restaurants in major cities that offer the same ambience and experience that EPIC does. Truly a hidden gem, a dining experience you won't forget and a meal you will truly remember. Our meal was the charcuterie and cheese boards, tempura Gouda & grapes with hibiscus syrup, and the sous vide octopus. Great food. Great venue. Very fancy and perfect for special occasions. We celebrated our anniversary there last week. The serving staff was super respectful and attentive to our needs. However there is ONE major thing that bothered both my wife and I... The manager clearly visited "each and every other" table asking them how they were doing but never once came to our table, and simply walked by each time and never said hello, during the two hours we were there. We found that very odd and concluded he was simply racist as we are not Caucasian! And for the record we were not trying to get anything FREE as I was more than happy to pay the $250 tab. On arrival, the outside is a cross between an industrial park and an urban waterfront that has been revitalized. The entrance gives whimsy to a secret club and makes you feel lucky enough to have a key. Best martinis I have had in a long time. Ryan is a great mixologist. Our servers Scot and Jaime were excellent and impressed with knowledge of both the menu and the restaurant concepts. They demonstrated everything that was right with customer service. We had the "pre-fixe" menu since it was our first time. The shrimp and grits were excellent, the black bean soup with avocado relish was excellent as well..earthy and flavorful, with built in layers of flavor for both appetizers. The duck amuse bouche was so good, my husband wanted more. The coq au vin was rich and cooked well. The skirt steak was so good, my husband is still talking about it a week later. I went for an anniversary dinner and it was simply fabulous! They knew it was our anniversary and the waiter and other staff congratulated us. I continue to be impressed by Epic. A group of us went last night for Valentines Day and it was hands down the best meal I have ever had. The cheese course alone was worth the trip! My husband and I have been to Epic a couple of times and tonight we decided to stop in for a drink at their bar. We've always had a good experience at Epic but we were turned away today because of their "dress code". I was wearing a long dress and my husband was wearing a conservative linen shirt with dressy shorts and loafers. They hostess said that shorts weren't allowed. No problem, I understand if places have dress codes but they need to always be enforced. Last time we were at Epic a guy was getting a drink at the bar that was wearing pajama pants. Straight up obvious pajama pants, but hey, they weren't shorts, right? Another person another time we were there was wearing cut off jean shorts. If a place has a dress code they need to adhere to it at all times, not when they feel like it. read more
