We're celebrating our 30th anniversary on this trip and honestly this restaurant has made the extra 2 days in Rome so worth it. Danny is the most passionate owner I have ever met. Johnny and Francisco took such good care of us. Just wonderful people. We went tonight and last night. We had to go back before we leave. Didn't need to find another restaurant. The food was fabulous. Highly recommend the fried artichokes, stuffed zucchini flowers, risotto, carbonara, and probably the best calamari and shrimp I have ever eaten. Go go go to this place when in Rome. The food is superb and delicious, but what really made it special was our server, Omar. The ambience is nice because they sat our party of 9 inside in the back. We stayed around the corner from Er Faciolaro both times we've come to Rome. This trip, we ate here 4 times. Everything we've tried has been delicious. My favorite is the lasagna. It's so creamy with plenty of cheese and meat sauce. We've had seafood pasta , fettuccine ala bolognese, spaghetti and meatballs, roasted potatoes, sautéed spinach, salad and crème brûlée that is caramelized at the table. The staff is amazing, friendly and responsive and the atmosphere is like eating with family or friends. I've added pictures of the menu. This is our first trip to Rome and we were fortunate to have walked by Er Faciolaro and talked into a sidewalk table by Daniel one of the family members who run this restaurant. He was wonderful and made you feel very welcome. Johnny was our waiter. He was very friendly and attentive. His recommendations were spot on. We had their aged steak and catch of the day specials. Both were delicious. We were treated to limoncello and small pistachio cream filled pastries for dessert. Excellent!!! As we had eaten here on previous visits we hoped we remembered how good it was. And we did. We ordered lightly...Pasta with a Meat Ragu, an order of Fried Artichokes, and an order or Focaccia. We realized that the pasta dish was going to be huge and it was. Therefore we shared all of the food. The ragu meat sauce was superb. The dish came out piping hot and beautifully plated...not for long. The fried artichokes were equally as beautiful. They were smart serving them on paper on the plate as the paper absorbed the grease they were fried in. Great idea. The focaccia had a great taste but it could have been a little softer for me. But that is me. I like soft bread things. The tastes of everything were great. Complimentary limoncello was served. I could have sat there all night with their homemade batch. Much better than the store bought stuff. Service was great. The whole staff was a friendly as can be. The atmosphere was lively. Lots of groups - a mixture of locals and tourists. Went here for dinner last night. The service was amazing. From the moment we walked up until we got up to leave the staff was attentive and friendly. It started with small flutes of Champagne. Then, we tried some bruschetta with olive spread and an order with tomatoes. They were tasty. I ordered the Cacio de Pepe and fried artichoke and my husband ordered a steak with potatoes. My husband asked for his steak to be medium, it was literally raw. The potatoes tasted old and like the oil needed to be changed a month ago. And my pasta was the saddest thing I have ever eaten. It literally tasted like salt and it was drenched in sauce. It was extremely liquidy and tasted like a fifth grader try to cook for the very first time. The artichoke was edible. We ate absolutely nothing except one bite of everything, paid, and got the hell out of there. And when we first walked in the waiter who sat us was extremely rude. He asked me for my order and as I was giving it he started to talk to someone else (absolutely didn't give a shit I was talking) and it went down hill from that point. The moment that I saw that the menu had "fettuccine Alfredo" I knew we should've got up and walked out, as that's NOT Italian and it's an American dish, AKA this is a tourist trap. Please do not be fooled by any of these reviews, save your money, and go elsewhere. So far, we have experienced very great dining experiences, and this was the very worst from our trip.
