We are glad this store and the entire chain is doing well and hope they continue to expand. We seldom shop there when we do we buy mostly produce. Was there today and saw once again the recurring problem of produce items not being priced. Thankfully we can afford to shop anywhere but we like to know what things cost, perhaps many of their other patrons do not care. They had a watermelon bin outside, no price we looked all over, we selected one about 15 lbs. We asked the cashier for the price before she rung it ... was over $21.00... for a watermelon... in SoCal...in Aug.... a bit nuts so we did not buy it. That is why we like to see prices. We did buy salad greens and tomatoes again not priced but were reasonable. We would buy more produce there if we did not have to keep asking for prices, hope they fix that. read more

Giving it 3 stars because it's a beautiful store, great selection of high quality products and even better hot foods/gf breads. However, their customer service could seriously learn something from Whole Foods. We spent $300 there last week on the weeks groceries only to return home to find moldy grape tomatoes and awful bananas. We were disappointed as we were paying a premium price and felt we deserved a premium product. Anyway, we went back today to pick up a couple of things and when telling the cashier about the tomatoes she said, 'oh, darn, that's too bad, you could've brought them back within 72 hours for a refund.' Okay, I'm sorry I don't live close enough to just drop off some moldy tomatoes. Nor was I going to hold onto anything that was moldy and gross. Whole Foods just tells me to grab another on my way out and bring them back if it's convenient. . We definitely won't shop there again for anything other than the bagels they carry, hot food, or their GF banana breads. Although-the sushi there is great and the guy making it is a sweetheart! For the past three years, we loved going to Erewhon, every day if not every other day, for the freshly made organic hot food from their kitchen (protein plus 2 side combo). We would often sit outside and enjoy it right away or take it home with us, for lunch or dinner. However, some of their dishes, unfortunately, are prepared with sunflower oil or sunflower seeds, and my girlfriend is very allergic. We were always careful to choose dishes for which they said these ingredients were not used. But in late August, and then again a few weeks later, she had a bad allergic reaction to the food we ordered and got sick. It is possible that the sunflower oil or seeds from some of the dishes, while being prepared in the kitchen, contaminated other dishes. We don't want to take any more chances, so we have had to stop going there. We wish we could enjoy their delicious food again: perhaps in the future they will stop using sunflower seed oil or sunflower seeds altogether, in their daily hot food kitchen preparations. read more

The reason for three stars is that they tend to gouge the consumer, charging higher prices than other stores selling the same product. There is a general disrespect for the customer. The clerks are unfriendly, with a few exceptions and they act like they are doing you a huge favor by serving you. Also- most importantly, if you don't ask for your receipt, they don't automatically give it to you. You should ALWAYS ask for it and check it before you leave. They overcharge and make mistakes (always on the side of favoring the store, NEVER the consumer), more than any other store I shop at. read more

I brought back an item I purchased 7 days ago. I gave them the exact time I bought it and told them I had paid cash. I read off every item I bought that day. One of those items, when I opened it yesterday tasted so bad I wanted to exchange it for something else. Zully refused my return. I shop there regularly and will not be doing so any longer when they didn't honor their own policy. This incident combined with their masks policy as a small biz owner subjecting people to forfeiting an inalienable right to breath fresh air are two main reasons why I will not shop at this store again. I was harassed by one of the young, tall, attractive employees on my last visit when he arrogantly spoke to me. Add attitude to their uncomfortable outdoor furniture that's always dirty and ask yourself why you pay double to shop there. It's not worth it. I'm not any of the aforementioned, as I eat it all, but I do but organic and that is Erewhon's number one claim. Their produce is the best of the best and all 100% organic. They have incredible gluten-free, dairy-free baked goods and a supplement section and beauty department that will make you week in the knees! Plus this particular location has eons of samples. Samples of things like fresh squeezed juices and homemade banana bread. Most of which you end up buying because they are too good to refuse and "healthy," or at least that's what you tell yourself. This is the best market around. I eat their hot meals, smoothies, sushi, etc. often and am never disappointed. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable about their designated area. I recently started purchasing skin care products there, and the employee who assisted me was a delight. While their grocery items can be understandably pricey--the products are fresh, organic, and likely the best for you. However, I find their combo plates to be reasonably priced, especially for the amount of food. This incident took place Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at around 5:30pm. Sarah is a cashier here and she was a very angry and unkind individual. I asked her for utensils which they keep them behind the register now and you HAVE to ask them. She rolled her eyes and didn't even answer me at first. Then aggressively handed/tossed the utensils at me. I needed a spoon for my 2 year old child who I had in my arms. Which I asked for after she gave me forks. She told me they do not have spoons there. I have literally got spoons every time I get hot food at this specific Erewhon for my children. So I asked her if another register had spoons. She then told me that they do not carry spoons here. So I went to another register and asked that cashier who gave me a spoon out of their very full jar of spoons. On my way out I told Sarah that they do have spoons here, for the next time a customer asks for spoons. All she did was glare up at me from her notes. When I called the store to tell them what happen, the manager wouldn't even say her name and was just very rude and sarcastic. I hope this will encourage the store to train their employees to bring respect and kindness to others. My family and I come here almost every other day and have never had an encounter like this. You never know what kind of a day or life someone is having. You never know if someone is struggling with suicidal and depressive thoughts. People like Sarah could be the push that makes someone act upon those thoughts. Plus that is not the energy I wish to have my children in. read more

I guess I don't have the patience for this store. I've left the store without purchasing anything 3 out of 4 times I've been there as the service is painfully slow. Very low energy in this store, which I don't understand as there were more employees there than customers when I was there. Last time I went, I stood in line to buy some baked goods. There was one person waiting behind the woman ordering. 10 minutes later, no movement. Plenty of people standing around the store not really doing anything. Then the person in line in front of me changed his position. I'm standing there waiting still in the same place, I look up, and there's another customer waiting behind him. I always come on here to the tonic bar to get a smoothie or a shot, usually everything is great but lately their customer service has been trash. An older chubbier woman who claimed to be the manager was just plain out rude to me and gave me attitude during my entire order, completely unprofessional. As I was waiting for my drink I saw how rude she was to her employees, totally uncalled for. She talked down on them so much I genuinely felt bad. Besides her, everyone was polite and friendly. They answered any questions I had and were 100% helpful. Props to them for having to deal with such a rude manager. The deli serves yummy roasted veggies & rice balls with a tasty hot sauce, so GOOD. I just tasted the BEST deep-dish pumpkin pie ever. It was like bringing a slice of heaven home. I called Erewhon asking their price of same pie, it's Thanksgiving after all. They informed me it was $80.00 a pie. Yup! that's right.
