    Braised short rib

Stayed at the hotel - they give you $30 a day to use at the restaurant for Breakfast, Lunch, or Dinner! During the stay we tried a few different dishes, the turkey club and burger were fantastic, and both the sweet potato and regular fries were crispy. But today I got the short rib - my goodness gracious it was one of the best meals I have had in quite a while. The meat totally fell apart, there was barely any fat, I substituted in the mashed potatoes which were so creamy and the Brussels sprouts were to die for.

Eric's is a convenient location for me to go to when I want a nice lunch or to enjoy an evening cocktail with friends. On the campus of UH (inside the Hilton Hotel), Eric's serves amazing food and drinks. My favorite at lunch is the Eric's Burger, or their Blackened Salmon, and their Halal Curry Chicken! So good. The waitstaff is always hospitable and service is always great! I've never had their dessert until this week when I came there for a business meeting/ happy hour and birthday celebration. I tried Pecan pie which was yummy, and my friend/colleague had the Cheesecake. To say I will be back is a given...lol. If you've never dined at Eric's, check it out, and Go Coogs!

Eric's is service is amazing and the food is consistently very nice. I eat breakfast there every time I stay at the Hilton, the bacon is absolutely outstanding and the eggs are perfect, regardless of how you order them. Plenty of coffee too. The lunches are great and reasonably priced, with the same service you have a breakfast and/or dinner. And the dinners are great, good drinks from the bar and all reasonably priced

Trying this place out. Located inside the hotel.

Nice restaurant inside the Hilton U of H. My server tonight was Makayla- 5 stars go out to her! She was friendly and very attentive. I came here to dine on a Sunday night, wasn't really hungry so I got something off the apps and a cup of soup. I tried the crab cake with slaw and for $14, I would think serving it with 2 crab cakes would be a good deal but it was only single. On the menu it said it was a single jumbo lump crab so I thought that sounded good but I didn't see any lump on my crab. The saving grace on this app was the delicious sriracha- garlic aioli and the apple ginger slaw. Presentation was very nice though. The tomato bisque soup was good, not great. Would like to try their breakfast but woke up late. Maybe I'll come back and try again next time I'm in the area.

Chicken and sausage gumbo. Too bad they don't serve it with any French bread.

I go here for lunch and if super easy to get a reservation. I like that you can make reservations online without the hassle. I'd say their food is quiet tasty, but on certain dishes portions run on the smaller side. I love their appetizer of chips and like a sour cream dip. Or something to that affect. I love their chicken and sausage gumbo!!! As it DE-licious and as it should be....seeing as though the chief that brought it back onto the menu is from Louisiana! I rated Eric's a 3 only because of portion, limit of set menu (not large) and inconsistency of customer service from waitstaff. Waitress took my order refilled my water once and never saw here again.

Eric's Cafe menu, October 2022. Limited, but with creative offerings, top ingredients, expertly prepared.

I ate here two evenings and both experiences were excellent. Beyond that, prices were fantastic - no dinner entree over $18, but with quality ingredients and expert preparation that you'd expect at twice the price. I went early on my second evening and ran into the head chef, who was relaxing at the bar with a couple waitstaff. He was very willing to chat and showed that he's clearly committed to excellence. I asked him how he could afford to provide such good food for such modest prices. I won't reveal his secret, but he affirmed his commitment to top quality ingredients and intimated that the costs get covered and it works out. If I lived in Houston, I'd eat here regularly. Menu is quite limited, but since the menu I saw was quite different from others pictured here, I'd guess that the menu changes from time to time.

The food was fair but the venue of course was well suited for a Restaurant run and owned by UH and The Hilton. As I recall me and my friend came here after her induction to one of the Honor societies in the school and had a light but good Dinner. I had the Grilled Hanger steak cooked to a medium rare, and they had the Cappellini Primavera and the Grilled Salmon. If you enjoy the Conrad College of Hotel Restaurant Managemnet and looking for a quality meal on Campus come here if you'd like to spend your dime!

The food is good but not exceptional, the service is usually decent but not extraordinary, but the location is great! I work at UH and Eric's is always the better option to Chick-fil-A. There's a variety of items--soups, salads, steaks, and seafood to choose from. I also hear that it's the go-to spot for students living in the dorms when they want something on the fancy side. Never seen one though. Like several folks have mentioned, much of the staff is composed of students so plan your time accordingly. The place itself is very clean and the prices are reasonable. Best of all, there aren't any loud students near by, just loud business men.

Chicken Aoli with sweet potato fries

I needed a quick bite to eat and didn't have time to go find something off campus so I had much at Eric's. I hate eating at restaurants on hotel properties because I'd rather go find something in the city but I must say, everything was really good! I had the Chicken Aoli with sweet potato fries and. Cup of chicken and sausage gumbo. The gumbo was very flavorful and the sweet potato fries were great as well. Only thing I could have done without is the avocado on the sandwich. It might have been better if sliced a little thinner but it kept falling out of the sandwich because it was a huge chunk.

A very nice restaurant on the U of H campus. Great for date night and a very nice romantic setting. I ordered the pasta. I had been here once before--about a year ago and we ordered the calamari, very disappointed to not see it on the menu this time. Also, I deducted a star because I felt that the menu could have more items. The photo attached is from last year.

There were 2 servers that were assisting with the table. Both very nice and got our orders correct. I had to split the bill in a weird way and they followed instructions well. The restaurant is always nice and clean including the restroom. The restaurant has a lunch option for 2 items for $25. What a steal! I got the wedge salad because I love the smothered blue cheese dressing. I got the mahi mahi tacos. Tacos were a good lighter choice. I didn't realize that it came with fries. All delicious options and so many options for even the pickiest eaters. Always a good choice for a nicer lunch.

The steak was cooked perfectly. It comes sliced with a sauce that's sort of like a nicer version of Heinz 57 -- very good. The smashed potatoes were better than you'd expect, especially if you can get a side of the onion ring sauce to put on them; it sets them off really nicely. The green beans were also very good. We added a small order of onion rings as an extra side, and they were some of the best i have had in a while. They came with some kind of ranch-type sauce that was absolutely phenomenal. I ended up dipping everything in it -- the steak, the potatoes, all of it. I also had their "steak night" old fashioned, which was a solid drink. The steak night plate is a great value. My wife and I actually split it -- it's a larger portion than you'd think, and you can add on shrimp if you want a little more. side note: The croutons on the Caesar salad deserve a mention of their own some of the best I've ever had. I don't know what they do to them, but they're exceptional. As for the spot itself: super nice location, very clean. The bar has a nice feel, with large windows where you can sit and look out to the street. All the food we had was top notch -- I'd give it a full five stars for taste and value. The one thing that knocks it down a little is the service. We sat at the bar, and there were two bartenders. It wasn't especially busy, but it still took a while to get drinks. The bigger hang-up was that I asked two or three small questions about the menu and the bartenders had no idea it was a lot of "I don't know" or "let me check on that," and then they never really got back to me. Not a huge deal, and they weren't unfriendly it just wasn't quite a five-star experience on that front. Highly recommend, would recommend and return.

Is this the most overrated restaurant in Houston?…read more After being on my "To Try" list for an unacceptable amount of time, I finally made my way over to Nancy's Hustle. I was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar with no reservation. I arrived about 30 minutes into open and there was already a wait list. I suggest getting there early or making a reservation if you're not a solo diner. The interior is nice and intimate, with low lighting that doesn't work well for photos but definitely for a cozy dinner. The set up and music reminded me a little bit of 93 Til due to the decor. I started with the duck dumplings and the Nancy cakes. I wasn't expecting it but they offer half orders which is great for a solo diner who wants to try multiple things. Both items were delicious. The dumplings had a nice savory sauce with some texture from the peanuts. These were great but probably my bottom of the list which is saying something. I would only say this because they reminded me a lot of the hot oil wontons from duck and bao so at that price point, you might as well get more. The Nancy cakes were pillowy and savory and made a great vessel for honey butter and roe. I even used a bit to dunk into the leftover dumpling sauce. I suggest eating these as soon as they hit your table. I was trying to savor my bites but the cakes benefit a lot from being nice and hot. It's not the most ground breaking dish in the world but it's done well and I would definitely call it a must order. I could have eating a full order of it alone. My main dishes is where my mind was blown. I went with the roast chicken and half order of the gem lettuce salad and fries. This might be the best roast chicken I've ever had in Houston. Chicken can be a hit or a miss because sometimes, there just isn't much flavor. This was absolutely not the case here. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to the core. It even heated up well as left overs without being dry. The chili sauce on the bottom was flavor intensified and as I swiped my chicken through the pools of sauce, I thought to myself "overrated where?!". The gem salad caught me by surprise. I'm not one to stay away from a salad at a restaurant because they typically do them better than you can make at home . Nancy's Hustle solidified this opinion. The salad was wonderfully briney and savory. The lettuce was crisp and covered in the herby shallot dressing that grabbed my taste buds. Topped with anchovies and pancetta for a nice salty touch. So so good. The fries were the perfect side, crisp and not too potatoey (yes this is a thing). I traded in the aoli for some ketchup because that's just my thing. I concluded this wonderful dining experience with a dessert. Buttermilk ice cream with cornflakes, black berries and honey butter cookie. This dessert was a lesson in balance. Every component was present , sweet, salty, crunchy, cool. Each bite had something new to offer and combined into a perfectly executed dessert. As a cocktail, I tried their tropical drink. I don't remember what it was called but I know I could have drank about 7 of those. This was a great dining experience. I think when things get popular, sometimes we feel the need to be contrarians with our experiences. That wasn't the case for me. Nancy's Hustle has earned its popularity and I'll definitely be back

We got seated out in the patio and they have fans they can bring to the table if it gets too hot in this Houston heat but, the vibes were perfect for date night once the sun went down and the small table lamp turned on.

You'd never guess that it was a vegetarian option - the mushrooms were so meaty. The delicate pouches with the spinach and ricotta were heavenly. Pappardelle - The lamb braised sauce had a depth of flavor that could rival any restaurant in Italy. My only tiny hope was that the pasta would have been served aldente, it was a little overcooked.
