Located in the East End (north of UH and I45), Mimo is pretty tucked away and easy to miss. The interior is pretty low key with dim lighting. For starters we ordered the croquette and the ricotta montato. I'm a big fan of the ricotta montato, the sweetness of the pear, the creamy ricotta paired with the saltiness of ciabatta toast was an excellent combo. For mains, we tried a few pastas and a margarita pizza. My top two were the pappardelle and the paccheri. The pastas were cooked perfectly and the sauces were rich and flavorful. The gnocchi in red sauce was also pretty good, but a little bland in comparison. The Neapolitan style margaritas pizza was also solid, but slightly soggy in the center. Overall a very solid Italian restaurant, I'm glad we found it!

Went here last night for an early Valentine's Day dinner. We use the InKind app and had picked up some gift cards from Costco, noticed this spot was on InKind, and decided to check it out -- really glad we did! First off, it's located in a cool little pocket on the East End inside Tlaquepaque Market. It looks a bit dark from the outside at night, but once you step in, it's warm and cozy. There's also plenty of parking, which is always a plus. My wife and I shared the pane along with their Valentine's Day prix fixe menu, which included an appetizer, salad, pasta, and dessert. The pane came out warm - perfectly crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The starter was a scallop with pomegranate vinaigrette that was light, bright, and a great way to open up the palate. The salad (I think it was purple kale, but I forgot to ask) was fresh and well-balanced. For the main, we had a pasta dish topped with a ribeye meatball that featured a bold sauce with tons of flavor, and the meatball had a subtle kick to it. Dessert was a cherry gelato that was simple, refreshing, and the perfect way to end the meal. They also have a solid wine selection, which paired nicely with dinner. Service was great - our server Philip was clearly busy but still made sure to check on us regularly. Overall, this is a great East End date-night spot. They also have a spacious outdoor patio that feels like it was pulled straight out of an Italian backyard. We'll definitely be back.

I had low expectations for this place but my husband and I went here for Valentine's Day and we had such an amazing time here. We can't wait to come back and eat here again. We ordered their Valentine's Day Menu and everything on that menu was delicious. The place was very unique and our serve was really helpful and nice. Overall, I recommend this place.

Really hidden and assuming Italian spot in the Eastend area (north of UH). It's on Telephone and Lockwood but hidden in the back. The interior is inside an older one story building and has a bar and dimly lit dining. The menu comprises of apps, pastas, and some main dishes in addition to pizza. Their starters are tasty and come in fairly small portions. I got their gnocchi as a main and it was very tender with a nicely prepared red sauce; the portion was a bit small for my liking but the taste was there. Their pizza was also done nicely; it's a traditional Neapolitan style with red sauce, mozzarella, basil and a thin crust. Enjoyed the food overall and definitely a good culinary pick for this area of town.

Had a fabulous experience here! Easily got seated for 2 on a Thursday night without a reservation, I did call in first! Phillip was our server and did a phenomenal job guiding us through the menu. The ambiance is v nice, not something you were expecting, very unassuming. Pasta was top tier, and we got a few different things, I would love to come back and order more

Great food the sourdough was really crispy outside and chewy inside, the tiramisu had a good flavor and texture was not dry at all, the pizza was good the one thing i will say though is that it was very soggy in the middle we have to use our fork and knife to eat it but it was still good. the drinks were good they were pretty strong. our server was very welcoming and the ambiance was so nice and chill would come back to try more menu items !

This establishment is hidden and is not a spot you'll just stumble on if you're not familiar with the area and what is around. There is plenty of parking right outside in a private lot, no need to worry with valet or street parking here. The outside is not much to write home about, but when you step inside, it's quaint and cozy. It has a low key, simple and minimal rustic Italian feel. Service - 4.5* We didn't have hardly any time with the menu before we were being asked if we knew what we wanted. That said, the waitress was very helpful and knew alot about most of the dishes. She recommended several from each section of the menu dependent on what you were looking for and size of plate. It did take a bit longer than normal to get our dishes but they had two giant parties in the main dining area so that may have contributed to it. Food and Drink - 4* The wine menu is extensive and I'm certain anyone would find something. There's some basic beers for those who maybe aren't wanting wine. On the appetizer side, the Finocchiona pizza was excellent - crispy, fennel forward, ricotta comes through. On the entree side pappardelle with lamb was good. The lamb is certainly the highlight of the dish. The gnocchi was great and pasta wise, was the preferred of the two. Cost - 4.5* Subjectively, the pricing is reasonable for the dish sizes. I'll leave it at that. Overall - 4.25* There were plenty of dishes I saw that I'd come back to try and next time I'll bring some friends along so we can try more. Now, my controversial take is I would say this is not the best Italian I've had in town, but the location, the pricing, the vibe are all pluses and reason enough to pay another visit!

Food-100/5!! The food was so freaking delicious! Honestly I would eat here everyday day if I could! I love the various flavors that one dish can have! We got 2 app, each a pasta dish,& 2 desserts. The pictures don't justify how savory everything was! Service-5/5- our waiter was super attentive and helped us pick the right wine for girls night! He let us sample a small amount of 2 different wines to make sure we would like what we were getting. We bought the bottle because it was that good! Ambiance-5/5- this place is a hidden gem to be honest. The inside has the old Italian look very beautiful to look around. The music is just the right volume so you can have a nice dinner.

Italian cuisine for dinner in Houston, Texas... This was my niece's last dinner as a college student. Tomorrow, she'll be a college graduate! Time sure flies by! We called ahead for reservations, but we got sent to voicemail. However, when we arrived, we were seated right away, even though almost every table was taken. Mimo is a cozy, dimly lit, noisy, popular place! The free parking lot in front, convenient restroom inside, and professional staff all around are much appreciated! We knew it was a classy place when we were served a complimentary round of Amuse Bouche. It was a toasted round with ricotta and lemon glaze, topped with a candied walnut. Refreshing! Our party of five shared: *Pane - freshly baked sourdough bread - soft interior with crisp outer layer *Pappardelle: heirloom tomatoes and mushrooms with braised, tender lamb *Spaghetti alle Vongole: bottleneck clams in wine broth was a bit spicy for me. *Pansotti: spinach and ricotta dumplings in wild mushroom ragu *Roasted carrot pizza: peppery with great crust This was a fancy meal! We really enjoyed this treat!

It's hard to describe how good Mimo is - each time I go I'm always impressed with the fantastic food, cozy ambiance, and knockout service, all packaged within a gem of a restaurant tucked into an unassuming collective along Telephone Road. The starters are thoughtful and well-balanced - on my latest visit, I enjoyed the prosciutto and pear plate, a wintery homage to the classic pairing of prosciutto and melon, as well as a large dish of buttery, herbaceous steamed mussels (which to be fair, are hard to mess up). The housemade pastas are wonderfully tender and hold up well to all the bold sauces and ragùs (the lamb pappardelle always hits). Truthfully, I never make it to the mains section of the menu before the antipasti, pasta, and wine fill me up, but I promise y'all and myself I will make it there one day :) Capping off the whole experience is warm, efficient service - the team there is accessible and knowledgeable, eager to share their favorites from the menu or to top off a recently emptied glass of wine. I love that the menu sets that the expectation that the meal will be served "at a relaxed pace" - and that's exactly the mindset with which you should visit. Hope to see you there soon!

The service (Fernando) was so kind, knowledgeable about the menu, charismatic, and attentive. Overall the food was 3/5 for a $$$ restaurant. The restaurant itself was romantic and small, perfect for a date night.

Finding delicious Italian food in Houston can be a challenge, but look no further because Mimo has got you covered! Was excited to see this place on the EatDrinkHTX list this year. The portions are slightly smaller for this menu but for $25 the 3 courses was a superb deal. I will certainly come back to try other things. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant says "ristorante" on top and there is a small blue neon sign that says "Mimo." The interior is very cozy, it's quiet and comfortable with nice lighting. Could definitely be a place for a fancy celebratory meal but can also be casual. The service is good! The waiter was very attentive and easy going. The pace is very laid back so you aren't rushed at all. They start off by giving you a little complimentary bite. Ours was little crostini with a whipped ricotta and I think a drizzle of honey and a nut. Lovely bite! We added an order of the fritters, which are fried to perfection, so crispy and savory. The apps we tried for eatdrinkHTX were the whipped ricotta and crochette. The ricotta was delish, I loved the figs and the bits of prosciutto, could eat a whole bowl of this. The crochettes were also yummy and I wish I had 10 of them! Also fried really nicely and not too salty. For second courses, we tried the fettuccine and the Cacio e Pepe. The fettuccine had a red sauce with meat, it was a little spicy! The cacio e pepe also had a little kick. I appreciated that it was just the right amount of salt. All the pasta was cooked al dente with a pleasant chew. I think you cannot go wrong with any of the pasta dishes here. For third courses, tried the zeppole and biscotti. Zeppole were fluffy and not overly sweet. The biscotti was fun, it came with a Marsala wine to pour on top which paired nicely! I have to come back for the pizza- everybody around us was eating pizza so it must be good! Will also have to try other fun things on the menu. Will be back soon!!

My family and I celebrated my belated birthday dinner here, and had a very nice time. From the outside, it was dark and didn't look like much but once inside it was very cozy. We sat at their family table next to the kitchen and it was a nice semi-private space. My family and I split a variety of dishes including the skillet bread, brussel sprouts, rapini fritti, croquettes, gnocchi, fettuccine, pappardelle, tortelloni, and eggplant milanese. All the dishes came out hot and fresh but the best were the rapini fritti because it was crispy and rich, and the tortelloni with the hint of chili oil and perfectly cooked pasta. For dessert we got their chocolate salato and truffles. Both were so indulgent and I really enjoyed the sweet/salty/crunchy textures of the chocolate salato. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. We'd love to return!

I say that because the place feels more of an intimate experience that should be reserved for solo dates, dates with your significant other, or when you really need to have a heart to heart with someone. When I went, there were two large parties and the number of tables did not compliment the size of the space; it felt too crowded with all those people there. I enjoyed the smooth process of the wine experience but warning, you'll be surprised at how much you spend at the end so come during happy hour! The menu truly complimented the wine selection; my favorite being the shrimp. My only complaint is there is a major room for improvement in the lack of sweet treats. The only option was bread pudding (which I never had) but they were "out" (I arrived 1hr after they opened on a Sunday) I recommend adding chocolate that could be paired with fruit bowl option to the menu.

Is this the most overrated restaurant in Houston?…read more After being on my "To Try" list for an unacceptable amount of time, I finally made my way over to Nancy's Hustle. I was lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar with no reservation. I arrived about 30 minutes into open and there was already a wait list. I suggest getting there early or making a reservation if you're not a solo diner. The interior is nice and intimate, with low lighting that doesn't work well for photos but definitely for a cozy dinner. The set up and music reminded me a little bit of 93 Til due to the decor. I started with the duck dumplings and the Nancy cakes. I wasn't expecting it but they offer half orders which is great for a solo diner who wants to try multiple things. Both items were delicious. The dumplings had a nice savory sauce with some texture from the peanuts. These were great but probably my bottom of the list which is saying something. I would only say this because they reminded me a lot of the hot oil wontons from duck and bao so at that price point, you might as well get more. The Nancy cakes were pillowy and savory and made a great vessel for honey butter and roe. I even used a bit to dunk into the leftover dumpling sauce. I suggest eating these as soon as they hit your table. I was trying to savor my bites but the cakes benefit a lot from being nice and hot. It's not the most ground breaking dish in the world but it's done well and I would definitely call it a must order. I could have eating a full order of it alone. My main dishes is where my mind was blown. I went with the roast chicken and half order of the gem lettuce salad and fries. This might be the best roast chicken I've ever had in Houston. Chicken can be a hit or a miss because sometimes, there just isn't much flavor. This was absolutely not the case here. The chicken was juicy and seasoned to the core. It even heated up well as left overs without being dry. The chili sauce on the bottom was flavor intensified and as I swiped my chicken through the pools of sauce, I thought to myself "overrated where?!". The gem salad caught me by surprise. I'm not one to stay away from a salad at a restaurant because they typically do them better than you can make at home . Nancy's Hustle solidified this opinion. The salad was wonderfully briney and savory. The lettuce was crisp and covered in the herby shallot dressing that grabbed my taste buds. Topped with anchovies and pancetta for a nice salty touch. So so good. The fries were the perfect side, crisp and not too potatoey (yes this is a thing). I traded in the aoli for some ketchup because that's just my thing. I concluded this wonderful dining experience with a dessert. Buttermilk ice cream with cornflakes, black berries and honey butter cookie. This dessert was a lesson in balance. Every component was present , sweet, salty, crunchy, cool. Each bite had something new to offer and combined into a perfectly executed dessert. As a cocktail, I tried their tropical drink. I don't remember what it was called but I know I could have drank about 7 of those. This was a great dining experience. I think when things get popular, sometimes we feel the need to be contrarians with our experiences. That wasn't the case for me. Nancy's Hustle has earned its popularity and I'll definitely be back

The bacon covered dates. Think this was my favorite bite. Sweet, salty, creamy. Came we three & I had two. The pizza was sweet and salty as well. The crust was so good and fresh. The arugula set it off so well. Def a buy again! The Steak Frites was so good. The chimichurri sauce was perfect. Just the right mount of citrus. Steak was tender and the fries seasoned well. The desserts - don't skip them! The Devils Affogato we had the first time we ate at Sixty Vines. Had to have it again. If you like coffee, chocolate and vanilla ice cream just get it. Restaurant vibe is relaxed and clean. There were several large parties and what looked like a lot of date night guests. Just try it. No regrets!!
