Lots of good reviews of this place online, but our experience was pretty average. The line for breakfast was huge and slow moving. Then, at 10:45, they announced that breakfast service was over at 10:45..we were not happy, because we had been on line for over 20 minutes and were still not near the front of the line. We were able to get in right as they opened but somehow was locked out? Should have been our que to leave. Bakery items (donuts and pastries) that we ordered were average but the male worker was throwing them into the bag and then threw them on the counter. So that was very off putting. An institution we hear. The boxed lunch process looked very efficient. We went over right before a scheduled tour through the park and gave it plenty of time since we know how tourist towns can get busy. The staff was friendly and the biscuit breakfast sandwich was so delicious- the homemade biscuit! Just like my grandma made them. Hubby had the breakfast burrito and said it was tasty but had too much egg for his taste. I feel just the opposite. So many places that serve breakfast burritos load them up with potatoes and don't give you enough of the proteins. They didn't skimp here. My cappuccino was good. I usually like to get them half decaf/half caff, but they don't offer decaf espresso (a Why Bother to some ) at Ernie's. The service was friendly and quick. Came here for a quick breakfast coming out of Yellowstone, and was pleasantly surprised by how nice everything was here! The Ultimate breakfast sandwich was huge, way bigger than a standard breakfast sandwich which was surprising considering how cheap it was. There was two layers of very fluffy egg, nice quality sausage, and a super crispy hash brown that seemed to be freshly fried to order. The lemon crepes were also wonderful, with a very pillowy texture and light flavors. We ate there, and the employees were very pleasant and offered us various sauces and enhancements for our meal. Lastly, I'll mention the bathroom was really clean and cozy and felt just like a home bathroom. A lot of effort was put into the decor in there. Ernie's was such a staple while we were in town! Make sure you order lunch from here when you're out exploring. 2 days we placed orders to pick up picnic lunches to bring with us on our exploring excursions. We got breakfast sandwiches when we picked up our lunches and everything g was perfect. We were a large party and never felt rushed. Service was fast for made to order food. I had a turkey on wheat bread which was great but I'd pay the extra for the Italian sub my husband had if I returned. Their "lunch box" is such a deal, you get your sandwich plus a drink, chips, cookie, fruit and a little candy bar for a great price and it's packaged in a bag with utensils/napkin and a condiment of your choice. We waiting in the line for about 10 min. When the lady in front of us had 5 people show up right before she ordered - she was the line spot saver. I know the business can't help that, but right after they ordered what felt like the entire menu, the owner said it will be about 25-30 min wait for our 2 breakfast sandwiches to come out. We waited and finished our Lattes - which were very good!! Sandwiches finally came out and we were on our way. Husband's bottom biscuit was a soggy, mushy mess and inedible. My croissant on the sandwich was smashed and mushy as well. I was very disappointed for the price and time we waited. 2 other couples left the line before even ordering. I don't know if they were short staffed or not, but it wasn't a great experience. Loved this place!! My husband and son had the build your own sandwich, my daughter had the Nutella crepe and I had the ham and cheese omelette. The most unexpected part was the biscuit with my omelette. Here's the thing....I'm southern and hate biscuits!! I couldn't get enough of this biscuit though!! Now this place isnt open late, but when you provide a good product then you shut down and enjoy the rest of the day. The place was busy and my Stacker sandwich was tough to open my mouth wide enough. Stopped by on our way out of west Yellowstone for breakfast. Very good breakfast food. I got the breakfast sandwich with egg, cheese, and bacon on a bagel. Love that the bacon is thin and crispy! Sister got the French toast and loved it. (The whipped cream was placed intermittently. She liked that it wasn't overly sweet too.) It is counter service. All orders are brought to you at your table. There is also a good variety of drinks to choose from. They also have lunches to go. They have a lunch deal for a sandwich, drink, apple, chips, etc for pickup. While there was nothing additional in the sandwich, the pastrami and egg were both cooked well and the French bread (which I chose) was super soft. I also tried the Breakfast Burrito ($11), which was a quality take on this American classic. For dessert, I got a Mixed Berry Cheese Cake ($5). This was pretty small but seemed to be house-made and was also delicious. It was just the right creamy consistency and not overly sweet at all. As you can see, the prices are fairly reasonable here. The staff here are very friendly and helpful. The place has a decent amount of seating inside, with a parking lot in front. There is a lot of Yellowstone-themed decor along the walls, which is not surprising given the proximity to the park. Their claims that their food is just like France are completely false. So glad we went here for box lunch. We went in the morning to pick up the lunches to go eat it at the park. Very convenient. Box lunch is $15/pp. The lunches are all the same for both adults and kids. For kids I'd recommend packing their own lunch or grabbing a Lunchable at the grocery store since they didn't end up eating their whole meal. I liked my BLT, it was perfect.
