My family and I went to Taqueria Malverde after visiting Yellowstone National Park and were excited to get dinner that wasn't burgers or sandwiches. The Forbes Yellowstone book mentions it and the Yelp reviews were good, so we decided to give them a try. Taqueria Malverde is open until 9pm most if not all days of the week and they have people lined up outside their truck fight until closing time. Note that this place is a taco truck in West Yellowstone and so they only have outdoor seating and takeout. With that said, they have an extensive menu that is not only limited to tacos but also includes burritos, pozole, tamales, platos, and tortas. The workers all speak fluent Spanish and English. They also make their own fresh tortillas in house. We ordered two PLATO POLLO (CHICKEN) TAMALES ($13.99) and one PLATO CARNE ASADA ($19.99) to go. Note that they only have outdoor seating and the mosquitos are out in the evening. The PLATO TAMALES came with two tamales, but they were unfortunately tasteless and the chicken inside of them was dry. They really needed the salsa verde (or salsa rojo) to give them some taste. The rice and beans were good though. They were maybe 4 inches in length and so one plate can really only fill one person. For $13.99, the plate was pretty steep for what we got. The PLATO CARNE ASADA was slightly better, but not by much. The beef was tough, dry, and stringy and tasted more like jerky than carne asada. It came with 3 small flour tortillas, lettuce, tomato, grilled onion, grilled jalapeño, and avocado. Again, the rice and the beans were the highlight of the meal, although the vegetables tasted fresh. Service was good and we got our food within 15-20 minutes after ordering. So why the one star instead of maybe two or two and a half stars? They only gave us one plate of tamales, even though we paid for two plates. It wasn't until we got back to our hotel in Island Park that we realized we only had two out of three of our dishes. Maybe the plate had gotten left behind or maybe it was poor communication between the cashier and the served. Regardless, we spent $16 more with tax and tip than we received. Rule of thumb: If you go here, make sure to check your order before you leave the truck. Overall: 2/5 for food, 1/5 for service

It's a food truck in a small tourist town. I didn't expect too much but the quality is actually very decent. They are fast in taking order and preparing food. We waited for less than 5 minutes. Must try: spicy pork tacos. Veggie quesadilla: the shell was a bit burned, but overall it's a good quesadilla filled with mushrooms. Tamales was ok, I have had better tamales before.

After trying the other two taco places in town this place was just alright. The food came out pretty quickly and there were plenty of tables to sit and enjoy our food. The tortillas were homemade but didn't really stick out compared to other ones we tried that day. The chicken taco had no seasoning on it and was dry - good thing we had salsa to fix that! My chorizo taco was good but saltier than my last which was very noticeable. We got a vegetable burrito to go for a friend and she enjoyed her burrito and said it was pretty average.

We stopped here after seeing Yellowstone. They had friendly service and had great suggestions. I had the chili relleno with rice and beans (I rate that a five), definitely the best one I've had in a long time (and I try them every chance I get). Everything was very authentic Mexican, even the rice and beans which I also really liked!! . The street tacos were good, liked the pastor meat better (it was juicier) than the steak. We also had the enchiladas which were also very good with good sauce and fresh toppings (just wish they were served hotter (they were lukewarm warm). Ambiance laid back, outside, pet and kid friendly. We would go back and we definitely recommend it.

Don't be fooled by the closed listing on Yelp-- this food bus is definitely open for business. The line can get pretty long during peak dining and we waited close to 15 minutes for our food. Overall, it was pretty good! + sopes + chorizo and carnitas were the tastiest meats + salsa had a nice kick to it + friendly employees - pollo is shredded and boiled with no flavor at all - menus have changed so don't rely on what is posted on Yelp or previous menu pics

The Good: :: local business! cute food truck setup :: lots of outdoor seating :: tasty food. not the best Mexican food i've had, but it is good and reliable :: menu has a lot of offerings--quesadillas, carne asada, fajitas, and more :: go for the horchata--they make it themselves and it's delectable :: friendly service The Bad: :: none The Ugly: :: none Would I go back? For a Mexican food fix while in Yellowstone, sure. It does the job and hits the spot. This place is IN.

The Mexican food scene here is not as good as Seattle but still pretty good. This is located at the west entrance of Yellowstone and it's a good truck near firehole bbq. Looking over the menu, I wanted the fish dish but apparently they didn't have it, so we decided to go for the carne asada fries and the taco/enchiladas dish. The taco/enchilada was ok. For the taco, we got lengua, steak and pork. The lengua was my favorite as it was super tender. The other two was standard. The enchilada was ok as well. The carne asada was really good. They use smaller cut fries and did not melt the cheese and gave a lot of meat. Definitely one of the better ones. Price is on the higher side for what I'm use to back at home. The 3 taco and enchilada plate was $10, this would have been ok if it came with rice and beans. The carne asada is $3-4 more than what I usually pay as well. Overall, it was ok

Pretty happy we tried the second taco bus in town! We are Sheltering In Place in our travel trailer, and wanted to eat lunch out, but due to Covid, wanted it to be outdoor dining. Two years ago we went to the other taco bus in town, but at that time, we were still eating meat. Now that we are mostly vegetarian with an occasional dip into pescatarian land, and don't eat dairy, it's hard to find Mexican food that works for us and the other taco bus menu looked challenging. Well, this place had shrimp fajitas, so that seemed to be a good fit for us. The food was excellent. The corn tortillas are house made and delicious, soft, thick and warm. The shrimp fajitas were great, and the rice was pretty solid. Very good portion size as well. I was even thinking I could have just asked for the veggies and gotten vegetarian fajitas. I would definitely come back here!!

Super delicious mexican food. Fresh meat on all our meals and it tastes super clean. Great customer service and lots of sitting outside.

Outstanding. Best chimichanga I've ever had. And so fast! One of those "holes in the wall" that the best food comes from.

They even have vegan cheese, which was such a nice surprise! The food had so much flavor and the portions were perfect. Plus, the NA margaritas were super yummy. This is definitely something Bozeman needed, and I'm so excited to finally have a great Mexican restaurant in town!

When we arrived around 5 p.m., I noticed a sign near the entrance that read, "Everyone is Welcome Here except I.C.E." with additional commentary beneath it. Seeing that felt politically charged and out of place for a restaurant, especially when all we wanted was a relaxed dinner with friends. After discussing it, our group decided to leave. I politely told the hostess we were leaving because of the sign, and she replied, "Oh, you must've voted for Trump. We believe everyone is welcome here." I responded that politics shouldn't be part of dining out, and she said, "You can take your business elsewhere." We did just that and went to Alberto's instead, where the food was great and the staff was kind and professional. If you're looking for a welcoming environment focused on good food and service rather than political statements, I recommend Alberto's over Tres Toros.
