Pretty disgusting customer service here. We purchased two cars from this place. The time we purchased our one Subaru, they did not have any 2008 registration stickers so they stuck on two 2004 stickers and told us that since the numbers added up to 2008, we would be ok. Sure enough, we get pulled over and ticketed for having illegal registration stickers. After contacting Ertle Subaru, we fully expected them to pay for the ticket. No dice, they got real nasty and started telling us how we were responsible for the stickers. Then recently today I was in the service department from 10am to 1pm getting my brakes done. I would have liked to have someone drive me to the mall to do shopping rather than sit in their shitty waiting area. But no, no one gave me a straight answer about when my car would be ready and therefor would not provide a courtesy van. BBB is in order, methinks. read more

I went to Ertle to have them pay off my lease and sell me a new Forester. After telling me my Jeep was in top condition we began to negotiate. They did not negotiate in good faith whereas I did. They then tried to talk me into a lease with which we had an agreement. They took a $3000 deposit which I paid with the expectation that they would get me the exact color vehicle I wanted. Two days later they called me to say they must "Dramatically" increase my lease payments. I cancelled our verbal agreement. I went online only to see how quickly my deposit was put through consider nothing was in writing yet. Now I have to wait for it to come off of my credit card. I had heard terrible things about this dealership but I had to see for myself. I learned my lesson! Stay away! read more

Bought the car the gave one key said they would get the other key and send it to me never did. A few days later I decided to check the oil and the oil filter only to find out that they never changed the oil or the filter. Ertle so-called mechanic couldn't diagnose a broken transmission (even after he DROVE it), implied I didn't know how to drive, sold me overpriced tires to correct the problem. I traded in my 2018 WRX here at Ertle for a 2020 Outback Onyx XT and honestly it was a pleasure. I don't usually go out of my way to give reviews unless it is really needed. Zach, Kevin and Nick were all awesome in getting me the deal I was looking for and it was completely hassle free. I went to 5 other dealerships just this week and this was by far the best dealer ship to work with. Everyone here was friendly, respectable, knowledgeable, helpful and willing to help me get a good deal. Zach was great with going over the vehicles features and technology with me. Last year I was at Ertle Subaru for a transmission issue, and they had to replace the transmission issue under factory warranty. It took 5 weeks because they had to rebuild it two or three times, but it was still never done correctly. They ended up putting in a re-manufactured transmission after their attempts of a rebuild. During this 5 week process I had a wheel damaged while my car was in their care and alerted the service writer Bill and the manager Chuck. They said they did not do this and that they would not repair it; they claimed the wheels never came off the car to drop the transmission out and there would be no way the wheel could have been damaged, however I could have 100 dollars off my next service. I argued that I brought it in near perfect and I didn't expect it back less than that, and they quickly agreed to resolve the issue. Upon pickup of the vehicle I had been given my car back completely covered in mechanic grease everywhere- such as on the steering wheel, seats, arm rests and center console- along with my bumper hanging off on the passenger side. I completely understand the grease, but the interior is the light platinum and should have been cleaned. I alerted the writer, Bill, who got the manager, Chuck, to come out and look over the car. He said he did not do this and told me he does not want to work with me. He said that every time I come in it's a different issue and that I should use a different dealer as they do not wish to work with me any longer. In the end I had to email the owner of the dealership and explain the whole experience just to get my car cleaned. Fast forward one year and my car is having what sounds like transmission whine, so I bring it back to the dealership. They go out for a ride with me to inspect the noise and verify that it's the transmission. Once I return to the dealer the writer, Bill, says the vehicle is modified and will not be inspected any further because I'm out of my 1 year unlimited mileage warranty on my re-manufactured transmission. I have to sit there and pull it up on Subaru of America's website that a re-manufactured transmission has a 2 year 24,000 mile warranty. Bill argues that that is incorrect with me and asks me to leave because they will not work on my car because it is lowered. I ask why that is an issue since the car was identical to what it was last year when they worked on it. I call up Subaru of America to get this resolved and they call Chuck at Ertle to have the car looked over. Ertle agrees and I set it up for that Friday at 9 in the morning. As I get there I am told they have no idea why I am there, they never spoke to anyone at SOA, and they refuse to diagnose the vehicle; I wasted my time for no reason. I leave 5 minutes after getting there and call SoA. I get a hold of the woman who talked to Chuck and she explains that Chuck "forgot" that he spoke to her and "forgot" what warranty is associated with a re-manufactured transmission. After explaining the incident from last year to her she promptly gets me in contact with Subaru 46 in Bud Lake, NJ. I drop the car off at Subaru 46 in NJ and they diagnose the car and do my recalls in less than 24 hours. They give me my car back fixed and cleaner than when I dropped it off. As a loyal Subaru owner, I expect my vehicle to be treated correctly and with respect, but Ertle Subaru was unable to do that. For these reasons my family and I will no longer purchase or service our vehicles with Ertle Subaru. read more

I had an appointment for a (Test Drive) on Tuesday at 1PM. My appointment was confirmed around 6 pm the night before. I get to Ertle Subaru and they tell me that the car that I made an appointment to test drive was sold at 8 pm the night before. Crosstrek limited. No one contacted me to let me know that they sold the car. They also didn't tell me that I needed to pay a $500 deposit to TEST DRIVE a car. I've never heard of anything like this. Why would I pay a $500 deposit to test drive a car? Why would anyone in their right mind do that? They also brought out another associate to try to convince me to test drive another vehicle. I felt like this place had too many red flags. The person I made the appointment with never made me aware of a $500 deposit to TEST DRIVE a Subaru. They even had the nerve to suggest that I leave a $500 deposit for a vehicle that's in transit. They must think that people are desperate and stupid. I would've never wasted my time with that place. Their practices are very shady. I don't recommend anyone with any sense to go there for a car. My experience was so bad that I won't be doing business with any Subaru dealership. I didn't have an appointment but walked in at 7:45 this morning hoping to get my car done before work at 9. I bought my Subaru legacy new here from Jim.we love the car in winter. but we give are local Penn dot a felling grade. after an 1800 call PennDOT report of a holey road. or hole in a road they seem to get it but it takes some time for them to fix it.as for customer service it is ok.every thing go,s by the serial number. or a call to Subaru warranty dept.as for a nail sure it could of happen there. but I don,t think it was done intentionally, this is one of our most profitable dealerships in the area for this brand.warrantys are paid for by Subaru.i, ve purchase a few trucks and cars here over the years. and they don,t need to screw you for a few bucks. you got here just in time as PennDOT has started to repave some of our dilapidated roads. just look at the intersections there are screws and car parts and trash everywhere. you're lucky you found it. a lot of it falls off trucks. the roads are never cleaned. they pick up trash on rt 80 every 3 months. after you get sick of this politic bull around here you may move back to Colorado.give them a second try. read more

Get there and the car they have for me is not the car I agreed to purchase, it had fewer options. First they don't offer to make it right, second they want me to pay for the additional option to be added to this car, not ever offering me the car we agreed upon AND then the sales woman had the nerve to again lie to my face about the trade amount she said we discussed!!! I had possibly the worst customer service experience of my life this morning and it was all because of the service department. They tried selling me four tires when all I needed was one, apparently the maintenance plan that we purchased for the vehicles and was told at the time of purchase covers everything except for the glass keeps on changing. Former employee of 6 months. The very first issue I ran into was contracting Covid at the workplace. I was told I would have to take a paid 2 week leave. I returned and was told I would not be getting paid any longer as I was misinformed by my manager. Upon explaining that it is their duty to higher a knowledgeable manager and that I would be taking the downfall because they had not, they were able to compensate me for less than half of what they said. The place is horribly understaffed, they keep staff that does not put in the work that it needs to and fire people who care about the job, rather than guide them correctly. They will never appreciate any extra work that you've done but instead will make you feel as though you're constantly on watch for being fired. They are changing their organization systems every day which adds to so much confusion. The staff is constantly changing on a week to week basis and there is major favoritism shown. I would get complaints from customers about my manager not taking time to care about their individual situations, but hiding in the back and pushing the problems away instead. If you do ever have to work part time for school or other reasons, this is for sure not the place as you will be talked to differently because of it, and you will be constantly pressured to put your other responsibilities aside for the job. I was originally hired under a different manager who kept the business much more relaxed and friendly. The new manager is a numbers guy, very up tight, and creates a very hectic harsh environment. In the winter you will be told you are dressing too warm (with even just a hoodie on) multiple times even though you have to constantly go outside. As an employee you will have new tasks added to your job description daily as well. I was hired under concierge and ended up having to salt the lot for them multiple days. If you were caught having any type of enjoyment or fun, the manager would immediately shut it down, even if it were with customers. Little comments will be made throughout the day to de-value you. You will see other employees make mistakes and may or may not hear directly from the manager that they will be fired. The actions will not be taken in certain circumstances due to favoritism, but you must be aware that if you do the same actions that you will lose your job. The employee parking lot is across from the facility where you wait for a shuttle to come and get you. This shuttle could take up to 10 minutes so you must plan to have 10-15 minutes of unpaid time per day, as well as arriving early for your shift. Longevity means nothing here, as I would be treated the same if not worse than someone who has worked there for a week, versus my sixth months. In the time period I worked there, we lost every employee for our department, I was the last one standing, we brought in someone from a different department and made them manager just to remove them from manager and appoint a new higher as manager. Very unorganized. It is sad because the owner of the business Mr. Ertle is a very respectable businessman. He himself is great to work with and takes care of his employees. It is the managers that he hires under himself that will drive the place to the ground and leave it constantly hiring new employees every week. I'm sure the quit to fire rate is about 80-20 as most employees quit within the first two weeks. I was under the impression this was somewhat normal for a job until I moved to a different job that paid better, and actually appreciated its employees and their work. If you are considering like I was, leave and find something else or move to a different Ertle workplace as it will be more satisfying than you can think. read more

I know I read reviews a lot before I shop for anything, so hopefully the info I learned buying at Ertle will help some of you guys out there considering buying. 1. They offered $5500 for my trade in. We agreed to $7000 and the car was listed the next day on their site for $11900. Just be aware that that is how they're running finances so you can be informed. They gave me some line about how they could only give me $5500 for my trade in because blah blah but were planning to double their money so don't deviate from at least your Kelley Blue Book value, maybe go for more. It's clear I should have negotiated down further on my purchase - if you're looking at a car in the $10-15k range definitely ask for at least $2000 off. It seems to be what they're planning for. 2. We came in with financing from our credit union at 2.5% (the credit union turned out to be a huge hassle but that's another story!). Because we couldn't finalize that day and I don't live in the area, Ertle wrote up a back up contract in case ours didn't come through. In order to do this they ran our credit through all three credit agencies for 5 banks (they say four, our bank said there were 5). My husbands credit was downgraded from Very Good to Good as a result. When I asked Nick in financing why they had to run it so many times for a placeholder contract he said they were trying to match 2.5%, but ultimately offered 8%. I believe they were messing with us because we didn't use their financing, but if Nick is telling the truth then be aware that the best rate they have available is 8% (and my credit score was 780, my husband was over 700). Either way, sort your financing out before you come in because they are going to take you to town. 3. Don't buy anything but a Subaru here. I bought a Prius and they don't know anything about it - it was listed as a Prius 5 (high end trim) but clearly isn't. Wayne (nice enough guy) didn't know how to tell the difference, couldn't offer me any replacement mats or accessories or info. I thought you could buy any car anywhere, but these guys don't seem to know much outside of Subarus. I didn't have a great experience at Ertle but hopefully with this info you can have a better shopping experience. Good luck! read more

During our conversation, it became apparent that I had researched that car on Kelly BB. The mood changed. They pretty much shut down about me buying a car. They had no intention of dealing with me so I might as well leave. As I was leaving, they showed me a proposal, but it was over $3,000 above the KBB price. Yes, I understand pitching a high price is a negotiating tool. Except there was no attempt to negotiate. Worst place to have your car serviced. They personally caused, by their own hands $5,000 In damages to my engine my new engine. They not only didn't tell me a part on my car was patched, but then put the blame on me when I asked them why I wasn't told or given the option to have it changed. The own mechanic said to me "I'm surprised you made it so far". Please beware and do not go to the Subaru dealership for anything. Especially mechanic. They are irresponsible and childish when it comes to doing the right thing. It's very sad and pathetic. Use other businesses. Not this one. BEWARE. I never bother writing reviews because I don't worry about perfection with customer service, but my experience buying a new subaru was so bad, it was regretful to buy a car here. They were vague with numbers. I was trying to work on price and was assured the price was lowered, and then after I signed everything, my 36 month lease turned out to be 39 months. I missed that when reviewing the contract, and it wasn't pointed out to me either. My car wasn't ready right away and I wasn't called when it was ready to pick up. I called several times for over a week and someone friendly assured me that someone would call me back and they never did. There was no customer service in this experience at all, and the numbers were shady in the end (i know that is my own fault for not pushing to fully understand before i signed). The car felt like the tires were over-inflated when I got it. When I connected to the MySubaru app, my tires were inflated to 52 psi!!!!! The max pressure noted on the tire is 320 kpa, which is 46 psi. A local mechanic checked and confirmed that they were overinflated, and then evenly deflated them for me with no charge. I really wish I could look back and feel warm and fuzzy about my experience, but I just can't. I love my new car, but will not go to ertle again to buy or lease another one. While working on my deal, I saw some sales people there who seemed much more genuine and hospitable than mine. I wish they were my sales person. Mine was just pushing numbers at me and did zero follow through. I should have left, but they had the car I wanted and I wanted to get the deal done. So, the whole dealership isn't bad, but my experience, with my salesperson and my purchase, was very disappointing. read more

Although I did not buy a car or get my car serviced here, I want to say that it is really a pleasure to see how service manager Chuck Santos stepped out to offer a helping hand. My family drove our Subaru out to kayak the Delaware from NJ yesterday. Our kayak flipped over and the car keys went down river. We called Chuck to see if he can help provide a loaner so that we can drive back home, and order a new key for Monday and he was absolutely helpful. We had good luck and the car keys and other valuables were found. But I wanted to thank Chuck. It was really nice of him to step up in our time of need. read more

I had two consecutive oil and filter changes at Ertle Subaru for my 2015 Outback. After about 3000 miles into the next 6000 mile regularly scheduled appointment my oil light came on and sure enough the dip stick indicted I had to add a quart of oil. Since this happened twice and the car is not leaking or burning oil, I wrote to Ertle asking why this has happened for a second time. I did not receive a response and after a second email two weeks later, again no reply. I send a letter to Jim Ertle the dealership owner and still no answer. Now, with this and other experiences I cannot bring my car to Ertle because I just don't trust them anymore. read more

Worst Customer services department I have ever had to deal with. They don't even now what is wrong with my car and cant fix it

The customer service here is terrible! I called last week to ask them a simple question about a light on my dashboard and rather than giving me advice on what it could be they told me i would have to bring the car in to be looked at. I asked if they really couldnt tell me anything as to why the light was on and they still told me they would have to look at it. Obviously, i realized they were just trying to make money off me i called another Subaru dealership and they were more than willing to give me advice on what the problem could be and told me i could fix it myself. Never once did they tell me i'd have to bring the car in. On a previous occasion, i brought my car in for a routine oil change that took 3 hours before i told them i had to go to work and miraculously the car was done in 5 minutes. On the same occasion, i brought my car in with a plug in the tire that was holding air fine and when it came out of the shop the tire was completely flat! They then told me i needed "4 new tires" and my oil pan was "crushed and leaking". I brought my car home, looked under it at the "crushed and leaking" oil pan only to find that it wasn't crushed or leaking! I don't know what they did to my tire but i had to replace it because it would no longer hold air. I refuse to ever give them my business again! read more

Not sure what happened to Ali. First, I don't know anyone who could begin to issue stickers of that sort to add up to 2008, etc.....in addition to security cams and more scanning area. In the event of this happening the associate involved in issuing 'number game' stickers would have been fired (and reported) on the spot & Ali would not be able to exit the parking area due to security scans. Something is NOT adding up to Ali's story, due to some missing information. I've lived too long & seen too many auto places NYC & out in Jersey (most of us here are transplants from Jersey or NYC). My new Outback flashed a check tire light, however the tires looked properly inflated to me. Since I was about 60 miles from home I stopped by Ertle Subaru to be sure I could travel the distance. A young women in their service department said it would cost $48 to check. What??? All I wanted was someone to tell me I was ok to drive tthe distance home. I asked her if there was anything she could do. Five minutes later she told me that her manager was unavailable and most mechanics were at lunch. Her reply was I don't know. I then saw the young women complaining to an older coworker about me. So I left. Happily, one block away was a Midas shop. I went in and was greeted warmly and in less than five minutes was on the highway headed for home. A kind warning to Ertle Subaru, your employees will ruin your business. read more

I thought I should write my review of Ertle Subaru of Stroudsburg PA. We bought our Subaru in October,2015, on our first oil change we took our Subaru to the place where we brought it, since it was our first oil change it was free of charge. But upon returning my keys, the man at the first booth when you come into Ertle Subaru in Stroudsburg, PA service center, informed me that there was a charge for the tire rotation. I explained to him that there in fact was no charge for the oil change, and furthermore, I at no time ordered a tire rotation. He told me that he ordered it, and was I going to pay for it? Absolutely not, like I said I never ordered it, why did you take it upon yourself to order it, astonishingly he retorted with that's what we do here. Are you going to pay for it, he asked once again? NO. Visibly angered he told me he would take the charge off. This is when our problem began, After our 2nd oil change, going into our third oil change I noticed that my tires were prematurely worn out, in fact they did not even looked like the tires my car came with, they looked old, I can only surmise, that the man who tried to charge me for a service I did not order, changed my tires on our 2nd oil change, to a much older pair. Before our 3rd oil change I talked to a different man and told him what I believed happened to my tire...ooops! almost forgot, I also went in that day for my inspection sticker which was due to be replaced. After telling the man about what happened, he completed the oil change, then hit me with, I would most assuredly fail the inspection, since my tires were worn out. Dismayed I asked him, Isn't 24,000 miles way too early for my tires to be worn out? He shrugged, then handed me my option to purchase tires from him...at full price. Whether or not I am correct in believing my tires were switched by the man at the service center, or it was in fact a factory problem. Does not negate the fact that at no time did the people at the service center address the problem with this man automatically charging for services not ordered. More to the point, I should have been offered a free tire replacement or at the very least a greatly discounted price on the tires, neither of which, were offered to me. Needless to say I no longer will be servicing my car at Ertle Subaru of Stroudsburg PA...SHAME ON YOU! On a lighter note, the women who sold us our Subaru were a joy to work with, great customer service at the sales department. So by all means buy your vehicle at Ertle Subaru, but have it serviced elsewhere. read more
