This was my first visit and I placed a takeout order for lunch while I worked from home. My order: Drunken noodle w/tofu (hot): great heat level, I'm happy they give the noodles a good spicy kick! Very good flavor overall, I only wish there was more basil. But I will definitely order this again maybe with chicken! Fried tofu appetizer: pretty straightforward but I enjoyed the peanut dipping sauce so much more than a lot of places Egg/spring rolls: the perfect size and not too mushy (you know how some egg rolls can be like that) Overall an excellent meal and a pleasantly friendly atmosphere. Please be careful of this restaurant! I do not ever like to leave 1 star reviews on small businesses but my experience was terrible ordering from them. This review is not a reflection of restaurant itself or the taste of food but the danger they posed to me and potentially other customers. I delivered chicken wontons from them on Thursday (among other menu item that was incorrect, but that doesn't matter nearly as much). 30 seconds after tasting the wonton, my throat started itching and my tongue and eye began swelling up. I immediately called the restaurant to ask if there was anything else in the wonton other than chicken and the manager casually said "sorry, we forgot to write shrimp" which I am allergic to. I am 6 months pregnant, had to pay medical bills, and missed work the next day due to the medicine I was put on and her only response was sorry and I could get a free entree next time. I am a forgiving person and I understand mistakes happen BUT it is Monday afternoon and they have still not fixed their menu on their website or any of their third party delivery services. It was traumatizing having the doctor tell me this could potentially be life threatening for me and my pregnancy and that they still have not done anything about it. Someone young or older or with even more severe shellfish allergy could lose their life over this mistake and they need to do something about it IMMEDIATELY. read more

My friends and I visited yesterday and ordered pad Thai, green curry and basil fried rice. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She even brought out a spice tray without us even having to ask. (We've been to a Thai restaurant where they claimed that Thai restaurants don't have spice trays because it's cooked into the food). Anyways, we thought the Pad Thai was on the sweeter side. The green curry wasn't as green and very pale looking, but overall tasted very subtle and was delicious. The Thai basil rice wasn't spicy at all and we asked for spicy, but with the spice tray, we were able to make it spicy as our palates wanted. Absolutely amazing. We tried four entrees (kra pow, panang curry, drunken noodle, and pad thai), all of which were excellent. The sauces and ingredients were fresh and flavorful, perfectly cooked with a nice balance of charring from the wok without overcooking the tofu, veggies or meat. It's remarkable that this level of quality is in the middle of chesterfield county, and we are lucky to have such an great local business nearby (with very friendly and helpful staff as well). Delicious thai food and excellent service. They were very busy with takeout orders and ran out of cut papaya for my salad. I had my kids waiting in the car so I just asked for her to take it off since I didn't have time to wait or pick something else. She ended up running to the back, cutting more herself and quickly prepared my salad. I was so appreciative since it was my meal and my kids were reaching their limit of waiting. This place is awesome!! We had a choice between Esann and ithaz and I'm SO glad we chose this place. It's hard to find good Thai food in this area. The most popular place is not always the best!! We order drunken noodles with very tender beef (Thai spicy) chicken pad thai, (not spicy) egg rolls, chicken wings and shu mai (dumplings). Everything was fresh and tasty. I'm glad we chose to get the pad thai non spicy because we mixed it with the drunken noodles and that was plenty spicy. Both together was a great balance. The egg rolls were crispy and hot the wings were perfect. The dumplings are filled with ground chicken and imitation crab meat. Not bad but I was looking for the same flavor of ground pork. We ordered the egg rolls, Pad Thai (shrimp and chicken), chicken fried rice, orange chicken and the dish with the glass noodles (can't remember the name). Everything was delicious. They lined the packages with foil which kept the food in place. Even cut out the corners of the egg roll box to prevent them from getting mushy from the steam. This place is very deceiving! We went here only because of the rating, let's just say IT WAS SPOT ON! I ordered the crispy duck. The cook was perfect and the flavors we awesome! And for those who care about packaging they use the thin cardboard boxes for entrees so less plastic! The flavors were beyond good. We got a few noodle dishes and a curry. All cooked perfectly especially for delivery. Our new go-to Thai. Please give this place your business and see for yourself. Oh..and the spring rolls were amazing. I got take out and ordered the Shrimp in Blanket, Green Curry with chicken, Pad Kra Pow with chicken and Thai Fried Rice. The green curry was the best I've had since moving to Chesterfield and better than the West End or Carytown. Everything was excellent tasting and beyond my expectations. So my review it's not in terms of comparing this restaurant to other Thai restaurants, but about what Essan did for my taste buds. We ordered pad Thai, drunken noodles, fried chicken wings, egg rolls, and dumplings. I must say I loved it all! The dumplings are different from what I'm used to. I believe it has chicken and crab meat. However, it has a unique delicious taste. The egg rolls were thin, crispy and just awesome. It was accompanied by a sweet and sour sauce. The fried chicken wings were coated in a delicious and somewhat spicy sauce. It kind of reminded me of Korean fried chicken for the crispy skin and delicious sauce. We ordered the chicken pad Thai with the spices on the side. It was good. However, I was under the impression that pad Thai was supposed to have a little bit of peanut sauce and I didn't identified any peanut flavor on this pad Thai. Now, my absolute favorite was the drunken noodles. It had the perfect level of spicy flavor and the beef was fantastic. The beef in the drunken noodles was perfectly seasoned and cooked. I will definitively order from this place again. Every dish was different and they all were like an explosion of flavor in every bite. read more

This has definitely become a favorite of my husband and mine. We get the exact same thing every time - two orders of the spring rolls, green curry for him and basil fried rice with shrimp for me. I get a 3 on the spice scale of 1-5 and hubs gets a 4. They also deliver to our neighborhood for an order over $20. Lunch there today with a friend was excellent. There's a lunch menu smaller that the full dinner, and your entree comes with a salad and a spring roll appetizer all for a reasonable price. The side salad had a tangy dressing; the spring roll was served good and nice and hot with a spicy sauce not the typical duck sauce. I had the yellow curry with chicken, medium spice and they really got the level of heat right. The restaurant only had 2-3 other patrons while we were there and it was nice and quiet. Sweet owner that visited with us while serving. My friend is vegetarian and any of the lunches had tofu choices for the protein, she had plenty of choices. Recommended. read more

Been dying to try this one since it's so close to home and it was a delight! Pad thai with shrimp was excellent, shrimp was fresh and delicious. My son had Chefs special spectacular fried rice and it was really good! The sweet owner even brought us thai iced free gratis and it was refreshing and delicious, certainly worth ordering.
