I went during lunch hours for take out. I have to say I was extremely disappointed. I ordered the shrimp pad thai. This was not driest and toughest pad Thai I have every had. It seemed,as if the noodles were re heated several times. I had my mouth ready some yummy pad Thai. But that didn't happen. I wouldn't suggest this place during lunch hours. OMG! Went next door to get my moms pedicure and decided to stop in for dinner! So so good! The won ton soup was amazing totally different then any wonton I have had before. So fresh and homemade. Also can we talk about the rice. I don't know what kind of rice they use but it is crack. White rice is white rice right? Nope not anymore. So we got a simple dish, chicken and broccoli. Since it was our first time thought we would get something we were familiar with. Again, amazing fresh and flavorful. I used to come here frequently and order my favorite dish, Pad Thai. I travel and have tried several out there, but this place in my opinion had the best. I would see a woman chef (Possibly in her 30's) in the back and it was amazing every time. In recent years, it has not been the same. Just tried it last weekend and was disappointed again.......I was hoping for that flavor to come back haha wishful thinking. I will definitely go wherever she's working. There are several other items that are good, but just wish I could get that Pad Thai again. Went for early dinner and was the only customers. Waiter was very nice but did not seem to knowledgeable about the menu. We had the fresh rolls for an appetizer. Bland without the peanut dipping sauce. Had the Pad Phed Pha. Mixed vegetables with shrimp. Was expecting spicy but it was not. Had a chili pepper beside it on the menu but for a Thai restaurant I expected more kick. I read other reviews where the server asked what spice level would you like on a level of 1-5. Was not asked. After getting our food did not see the server until we were almost finished. I asked about some hot sauce and then he brought over 4 different kind of sauces which were very nice. Again other reviews said they received this when they brought the food. So overall not happy. Food was average at best. Will not be going back. I need to find a new Thai restaurant. Came here for dinner for the first time tonight. It looks like a hole in the wall (best food found at hole in the wall places) but when you go through the doors, it's a nicely decorated, chill environment. Service was prompt. We ordered shrimp in a blanket appetizer with our entree's. I ordered beef pad see ew with a spicy level of 4 (1-5) which tasted great to me but was not as spicy as I thought. My wife ordered chicken pad see ew no spicy and both of the dishes tasted great. The appetizer was fresh out of the fryer. The Shell around the Shrimp was hot and crispy and the shrimp tasted fresh and were a good size. The entree's, the noodles were cooked just right and the sauce was perfect. Although I would have liked it spicier, it was still very good. The service was good. Didn't have to wait very long for the food to come out and out Waters are always filled. The only thing thats took a while was trying to get the bill and pay for it. Overall, a great first impression. we are definitely coming back to try the other dishes read more

I thought about ordering some Thai food during a football game since I was craving some panang curry that night. I thought I would have to travel to the city for good Thai and would settle for what was southside of the River. Boy was I wrong! The panang curry was on point! The depth of the spices and the quality of the food was so much better than any Thai place I have been to in the city (Mama Siam, Thai Diner Too). We took advantage of the 10% off our first order this evening. The Oder was over $110 and they even ask for tips in red in their site ahead of time. We got the text the food would be ready at 5:56. It was 50 minutes past when they said it would be ready. I have no idea how the food is but customer service is terrible. I am visiting family in Midlothian, VA and was looking for the best thai food in the Richmond area. I live in Boston where there are hundreds of thai restaurants to choose from and I have learned the difference between great, mediocre, and bad thai food. Luckily I chose Esann for us to go to after quite a bit of online research. We had dinner there last night. The restaurant was clean, the wait staff was very attentive and friendly, and the food came out quickly. The Satay Chicken appetizer with peanut sauce and cucumber sauce on the side was fresh and delicious. For my entree I ordered the Pad Kra Pow with chicken, medium spicy, and it tasted fresh, delicious, and had a good spice kick to it. I added an order of sticky rice to help soak up the spicy sauce. It also was very pleasing to the eye. My parents ordered the Masaman Curry and the Panang Curry respectively, and both said their dishes were delicious. If you are a thai food connoisseur, I highly recommend you give this place a try. I don't think you'll be disappointed. read more

Despite the long lines, the staff are incredibly fast and their communication is really something else. We are here at least once a week. We've had the pad see ew, pad thai, panang curry, red curry, papaya salad and a few others I'm forgetting, ALL have been so good! This is a takeout review. I worked late one night this week, wanted to pick up something to take home and I had seen the signage for this place driving to work one morning, so I decided to check it out. It used to be solely a Japanese restaurant, but under new management they have become a Pan Asian establishment. I ordered three sushi rolls- one tuna, two salmon. These options were not on the menu (I only saw spicy tuna and salmon skin, which I don't like at all), but I asked if they could make them and they replied, "of course!" I liked that they were accommodating. The staff was very friendly. From my experience in most sushi restaurants, the prices for the rolls I order are typically around $5. My order was $18.90. I was really disappointed, until I got home and saw that each roll contains 10 pieces, not 6. Really, I got deal. I will probably come back here and try the Thai fare; from reading other reviews I see that people seem to really enjoy it. read more
