    HENRY and SANCHO
    Rose K.

Last year my 20yr old Henry was given a surgery that I did not ask for/specifically told them not to, put him to sleep instead, he developed tumors in those areas from trauma, I want to sue them but I am still traumatized, I had to put him to sleep after all that pain he went through, and they still charged me $1400 too I had to bury Henry close because my trauma/fear was too much, I got covid and almost died right after . And I did come to this office, should not have to explain that... Henry was listed under my daughter's name because she came in with me, in a referral to you. I never gave permission to pull all his teeth I said no to that, put him to sleep, he was in pain already, I did get upset and let the doctor know-- the gall of you to insinuate otherwise. You falsify the truth, but I hold the degree in ethics and research-- so thanks for showing everyone how you you handle complaint, that's what I was hoping , SCREENSHOT!!!!

My husband and I were very cautious when it came to selecting someone to entrust with our fur babies. Dr. John Shaner and Dr. Mike Hellman are both equally wonderful, can't go wrong with either.   They are very knowledgeable and trustworthy, and always willing to explain things so everyone can understand.  You can honestly tell they care deeply about your pets, which gives you great comfort.  Believe me, I'm very picky when it comes to my dogs and puppies.    I also want to mention that the office staff are amazing and caring people.   I highly recommend River Oak Veterinary Hospital they are an A+ in my book.  Everything has always gone over and above anything I could have wanted.   Thanks for everything you do!

This VET NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!! She claims she "loves pets" When I was at this vet office I wasn't "RedFlagged" by any vets until I left your place. Until I respectfully declined service by this vet!! She Called Vets in the area and told them to refuse service to my sick pet!! My pet is sick and now I can't go to any vets in my area because of this lady!!!!!!! All because I didn't want to see her anymore for treatment on my sick pet! She is a scam she charges for everything. I had to pay just to talk about my pets meds and waited days to hear results on test that ONLY SHE COULD TELL me but she was never in the office. I simply wanted to take my business somewhere else and I found this vet and she works here too!! She affiliated with American Pet Hospital, American pet clinic, coffee rd vets , maze vets , beckwith. Be careful and don't trust this vile lady!

‍Dr. Bove is great with my pets! Although young, she never comes off any way except knowledgeable, understanding, professional and caring of her patients! She is reasonable in suggesting treatments and the prices are not outrageous. I was referred here from the Riverbank Atchinson Vet when they closed down (retirement) and I am very grateful for the referral. We have healthy pets and a vet we can count on. The office is very clean! Sometimes the waiting room gets packed and I wish the appointments were more spaced out but it's worth it for the speedy appointment availability. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

It was later in the day and Sylvan was the only one who was welcoming and made us an appointment that same day at about 4 PM. On a Saturday. Everyone was very nice when we arrived, and they made the entire process the best it could be under that situation. The staff were really friendly, helpful, and compassionate. Thank you for helping us out, and I would definitely recommend this pet hospital anytime.

Actually the worst vet. We've been going here for years and before they were all about money, they…read moreactually seemed to care. We took our cat here and did a bunch of tests and he was ok but had some sneezes. Took him in for a follow up bloodwork a few months later and his ALT liver enzyme was over 600. We saw doctor Pam who recommended shots and a CT scan as "top line treatment" because immediately they thought it was a congenial issue. Spent money on the Ct scan and it was negative but his liver enzymes were still going up. NOT ONCE did they start any treatment but they sure did run more tests. All negative and NOT ONCE did doctor Pam recommend any type of plan other than a $5000 invasive biopsy on our 1 year old cat. The enzymes went up over 1000 and I went online and found out info about steroids on my own since nothing was being done and asked Doctor Pam, who insisted we HAVE to do a biopsy and she had the nerve to say steroids might inflame his liver and it would be too much to give him steroids...but a full liver biopsy is fine? Ok. We got a second opinion and this new vet who actually cares about animals over money started him on an empirical treatment immediately and now his liver enzymes are back to normal a month and a half later...with a steroid called Prednisolone that bypasses the liver anyway. I feel so frustrated. For one, I'm mad she didn't even try to start him on anything, no treatment plan at all cuz they knew we loved this baby and would pay to help him. They messed with our vulnerability. For two, we paid a ton of money thinking we were trusting someone who actually cared, and for three and maybe the most aggravating and upsetting part, we put our little cat through so much and so many treatments because THIS VET told us it was needed it...and almost put him through a biopsy for no reason. Shame on you and the whole practice for valuing money over animals. Go to a vet who actually cares. Doctor Pam and this horrible place only care about your money and not your babies. Never again. The only thing they did do was help us with insurance because God knows they want their money. Unbelievable. Go to Village Oak or Waterford Vet or Animal Medical instead of this money hungry practice. We are lucky we actually still even have our little baby after this.

I've never been to this vet which makes this even more special with how they took care of me and my Reptar . I had scheduled a euthanasia and private cremation for my sweet senior boy who had cancer and wasn't going to make it through but he actually passed away at home with me the day of the appt . I just want to personally thank the kind staff who helped me carry my sweet boy from my car and was saying sorry the whole time :( I felt your sincerity truly and thank you . It takes about 2 weeks to receive the ashes back , I got them back in 11 days , I'm so happy to have him back home :( the staff were so patient answering my calls and questions , they let me see my sweet boy one more time before being sent off to cremation which they don't usually do but I didn't even get to say goodbye to him with how quick everything happened so they let me which I'm eternally grateful for to have that last bit of time with him :( I left pictures to be cremated with him and they set up all his pictures when I walked in to say my goodbyes and omg I criedddd ! So beyond thoughtful !!! Thank you all for your genuine kindness during this hell time for me . I can't tell you how much it was helpful while my was/is heart shattering . Thank you so much !!! Rest in love to my sweet sweet boy Reptar and thank you for 12 years of solid loyalty and love !! Momma will see you on the other side !!!!

Many times we took our dogs in they wanted to do a "test." These tests cost money... a lot of times they would have to send them out for readings or results; of course at an extra cost!! By the time we left the bill would be exorbitantly expensive, like $350-500!!! Our furry baby in the picture below, Misty, was diagnosed with a heart murmur when we took her in for a UTI. They did an X-ray and she had bladder stones. Dr. Singh said she needed surgery and wanted to do it the next day. He did state that bcz of her weak heart the anesthesia would be tricky. He said she had a grade 4 heart murmur. He said they are graded on a scale of 3-10. I looked it up, as I was in the medical field for 30 years and found that canine heart murmurs grade from 1-4. If Misty had a grade 4, she was already in heart failure. Dr. Singh minimized the condition of her heart disease, in our opinion. He did the surgery, it took 2 hours. He put her on heart meds, then later he put her on Lasix (a water pill.) She died about 6 weeks later of congestive heart failure. In our opinion, Dr. Singh should have given us the option to put her on an antibiotic for the UTI, the heart med and the Lasix and wait and see how she did. Instead he immediately wanted to do risky surgery in a dog with a weak heart. We paid $5,000 for this operation. And $400 for a post-op visit! We no longer take our animals to Family Vet of Oakdale. Our new vet is great!! His office visit charge was $50. Family Vet of Oakdale charged $130. Enough said ......

Thank goodness I listened to our friend who is a retired veterinarian. Dr. Yu and staff kept me in the loop at all times. Saw her X-ray, stayed with there as they treated her for bladder stones. Surgery was required. Dr. Yu called me at 2 am about his findings and her prognosi. Long story short, she went back and forth from there to regular vet (they are only there from 6pm to 8am) for several days. Another surgery, another 2 am phone call. It has been VERY expensive, but doc was up front about my dog's prognosis. Even though home, Dr. Yu has called several times with information about cultures and medications, and to check on her progress. She is 6 days out now and full of life and pep again. VEC and the kind, competent staff is responsible for her recovery. It got down to how much we were willing/able to pay for this life that totally depends on us. There was much discussion about this but chose to stick it out. FYI if you have a beloved pet, get health insurance. Many thanks to this entire staff!!! Since my first amazing experience here ... my senior baby Reptar of 12 years passed away 4/24/26 …read more I wasn't going to share my ending experience but out of love and respect for my sweet boy , I'm going to tell it . The mass ended up being mast cell tumor and the cancer had spread giving me weeks left with him . After his first removal 2/26 , the aftercare seemed like they cared , hence the 5 star review . They called after to check up on him , would answer my calls to any questions I had about his healing and such .. healing was going well . Then he got another big mass shortly after close to where the previous surgery was . We scheduled another removal . The 2nd removal and healing process was HORRIBLE . Engraved in my mind and truly traumatized forever .. and then the after care and treatment we both got from the staff , "supervisor" and vet assistants was beyond heartless . He was prescribed carprofen for his pain meds after surgery even though I asked for rimadyl since he's always taken that for pain . the carprofen had lamb flavor in it causing him to have outbreaks and suffering on top of the cancer attacking his body making his time left here more miserable . I couldn't figure out why or if it was the cancer ?? until I found out there was lamb in the pain pill and he's allergic to lamb .. I didn't know it had flavoring nor was I asked anything about allergies to things like that . I thought they were just normal pain pills being prescribed , I'd break half and put it in mashed potatoes or something soft and he'd just swallow it , he doesn't chew medicine ... so that upset me because he suffered for a while until I stopped giving him the pills and he immediately changed behavior and started acting back to normal and all the reactions settled . He was gushing blood and puss out of his new and old incision even though the old one basically healed , it was infected and forcing its way out reopening the healed scar . I called the office scared asking for advice and some antibiotics and Sam the receptionist really really really made this harder on me than it already was . Her attitude , the lack of empathy and respect she continuously showed throughout our interactions over the phone , lack of urgency when I needed to pass on important messages to Dr.Singh , she would refuse and try to give me her own advice FIRST until I was adamant I wanted it passed on ... I spoke to the office supervisor Shay about her actions because how are you the face of the vet/answering phones and have an attitude like that towards GRIEVING patients whose dog is currently dying ?! Ridiculous . Spoke to an employee named Zaire a couple times in replacement of Sam that were unpleasant as well , both need to be retrained in customer service and BOTH lacked respect and empathy ! It got to a point where he was constantly throwing up and I was researching that they can prescribe nausea pills or give a shot for relief , that option was being denied to me because they wanted me to come back in for another transaction "to see if he really needed them" instead of just prescribing my dying dog the pills at Costco for some relief in his final days ... Dr.Singh wasn't in the office for that request so Dr.Berrar according to what the staff told me , that he wouldn't give me anything until I came back in the office even though we were just there the day before and them all seeing the condition he was in . Shay did eventually offer for me to come in for a shot for 1 day relief FOR NOW but I was already so mentally drained after all the fighting , I got him help elsewhere for that . Dr. Singh told me personally in our visit if I needed anything medication wise to send in the request and he'd get on it and I was constantly being shut down while I'm trying to be an advocate and be strong for my dog while my heart was breaking from losing him .. so so discouraging on top of losing my best friend right in front of my eyes . After he passed away , I had so much hurt and anger towards the recent actions of this vet , I HAD to tell Shay EVERYTHING that happened , bawling my eyes out on the phone and eventually letting her know that he had passed away . $5000 later and my dog isn't here anymore , not once did the staff or Dr. Singh reach out with a call , send a card of condolences or anything . This felt very transactional and not genuine AT ALL . My poor baby suffered soooo much his last days and I was doing my ALL to fight for him and get him the help he needed , just for it all to be too late . All I have left to say is .... I hope the staff I dealt with never have such a deep attachment to someone special or an animal the way I did and be treated how I was while I was going and AM going through this HELL time , instead of being comforted and supported . Reptar deserved way more respect and love than what he got from this office , he was nothing but loving to them and a senior boy in his last days . My heart is beyond shattered . Gutted .

She had a fever of 106.4 and would have likely passed at home in pain. We opted for euthanasia due to the diagnosis and I knew it was coming. I couldn't afford treatment as it was. They didn't even charge me for the doctors exam for the $189 they only charged us for the euthanasia. The staff were great in helping me shave a patch of her fur and even got her paw prints for me and nose prints.
