I came here with three friends for my birthday and it was so much fun! We chose the Speakeasy and ended up working with two other people. No one in my group had done an escape room before, but our other teammates were returning customers. The instructions the host gave us before we began were clear and easy to follow, and the atmosphere was generally really upbeat and positive. The room itself was full of interesting objects and clues, and the host periodically posted hints on a screen (with an accompanying sound in case we weren't looking), which meant we were never stumped for too long. There were never any safety concerns either because there's an unlocked exit available in case of emergency. We managed to escape with a little over three minutes to spare, and although we didn't set any records, the dramatic last-minute solve made it feel like we got our money's worth! Maybe escape rooms aren't for everyone, but this place is definitely worth a try. And for a puzzle-lover like me, it was a really great way to spend my birthday -- and maybe the next one too! read more

I have now done ALL of the rooms and I love this place! It's just a fun activity and is definitely different, you use your mind a lot so be ready to think! I would have to say the Study & Gallery are the easier two of the 4 games available so keep that in mind depending on who you are going with. You also do NOT need the room filled (ticket wise) to escape. I actually have found it to be a disadvantage sometimes. For anyone wanting to know; - you are not actually locked in the room, the door you come in is always unlocked and you are free to leave if you need to. -There is plenty of free parking(on the weekends at least unsure of Weekday) - for the most part you do not need prior knowledge to figure out puzzles. Most of the puzzles can be figured out based off clues in the room and problem solving. I 100% recommend booking a room ASAP! Cannot wait for a new room to come out! read more

What a great time! Just myself and my daughter (14) played this past weekend. Without giving any of the clues away, we thought we had won at one point, and then found out there was a whole other set of clues we had to do to complete it! It was a lot of fun. what I will say is that the staff there is super helpful. They kindof pepper you with clues throughout the process which helps keep the game interesting and keep everyone on task. Good fun with challenging mind puzzles, code breaking, and many activities that involve hands on figuring them out. The entire family had fun. I have mixed reviews on escape RI. I know this review will be a little lengthy, but it's important they know that I would be a repeat customer every time a new room was launched if not for this one issue. For my birthday, I rented out the entire 6 person room which isn't overly expensive in my opinion, but not cheap either. Upon entering the room everyone began the dash and it was a ton of fun figuring things out. Then came the part that ruined the experience for my entire team. There was a chess board located in the room. Being an avid chess player and the only one of us capable of deciphering that aspect of the game, I spent time sitting and plotting the game out while everyone else continued unlocking and figuring out other puzzles. Finally, I finished the puzzle plot, and figured out (spoiler alert) the pieces left had numbers allocated to them. So we tried, re-tried, and re-tried, the number combination on every lock and nothing......we kept getting hints, over and over, that "it was the chess board" "you're close" "try chess again" after about 25 minutes my friend just mashed buttons until the lock finally came undone. We then began flying through the puzzles, into the next room but there was NO WAY we could have made it out in time with such a massive set back. Upon exiting, the very 1st thing I asked was WHAT WAS THE CHESS CODE! After telling me what it actually was I told him to go look himself.......He had put the Rooks in the wrong position on the board! Each having a different number associated with them meant we could not have deciphered the code if not for dumb luck from a button mashing friend. I was expecting them to offer us a free 6 person room next time for the screw up, and instead he just said sorry, yeah that was my bad......It was really upsetting and definitely put a huge damper on my birthday, especially considering I was the one working so long on that one puzzle. If we were offered something other than "my bad" I would give it 5 stars, because otherwise the puzzles were fun, difficult, and very brain teasing. I totally understand putting those rooms back together after having them ravaged and torn apart after every group must be difficult, but that was SUCH an important detail, I would have expected them to have double checked before letting us in, or at the very least just walking in and asking us when they watched us walk back and forth for 20 minutes on the same thing. Had they remedied the situation, either on the spot, or afterwards I would have given them 5 stars all day and wrote a raving review. Instead I am forced to give them one star, for terrible customer relations, and not even attempting to make the situation better for our then demoralized team. If they read this and reach out to amend the situation I would gladly re-review them, until then, I am still pretty angry I spent over $100 just to lose and get a "my bad" as a consolation prize. read more

Escape Rhode Island was awesome! We came as a group of 10, many of us who have done multiple escape rooms at different locations. This was our first time here. It was great! We did "the bunker" and it was very well designed with a lot of difficult clues and puzzles within it. We thought having 10 people would make it difficult but there were enough clues for different groups to figure out and they could be done at the same time, rather than everyone working on one lock at a time. FIVE STARS!!! Put this on your list if you're in Providence. I've done them all! Without spoiling anything, this group has some of the most innovative rooms I've seen. They're rooms have a good mix of challenging puzzles, electrical cleverness, and team work exercises. Their staff is great and very passionate about their work. Their hint system is unique - they closely monitor you and carefully just give them to you to move the game along. No penalized time or limited bank of hints. I think that's great because they really want you to experience the entire game and show you the great work they did across all the rooms. Believe me, even with the hints the puzzles are so good, the players are their own penalty. If you plan on doing the rooms recommend this order: 1) Mausoleum, 2) Ex Machina, 3) Study, 4) Bunker. If you do the Bunker, bring a team and some experience. Like the Game Masters say, it's no joke. You'll need some experience do get through it. Sundays are a good time to go since parking is free and there's plenty across the street. Book your room today! It'll be worth it! read more

Great lasting impression! This Escape Room was my first experience with escape games a few months ago. My girlfriend had done similar rooms before and wanted to see if I would enjoy it. It was fantastic! Since then we've returned to give the other rooms a try at Escape Rhode Island. All three rooms have been fun and had memorable themes to go along with them. Each room has been high quality and different from the others. The game masters also seem to be invested in the story and legitimately enjoy what they're doing. This was my second escape room experience and it was definitely an improvement on the DC version I'd done. The puzzles were challenging but not so much so that I was just frustrated the whole time. Escape RI found a happy medium between challenging and giving us hope throughout the hour. This is a GREAT concept executed incredibly well!!! Six of us (from mid-20's to 60) went on Sat night and had a fantastic, unique time. Staff was great in welcoming us, describing the adventure and then letting us go into the Gallery room. 57 minutes later we successfully escaped! Just a ton of laughs, the right amount of complexity and lots of playing off each other. Definitely recommend this everyone. Let me start by saying my husband and I are 68 years old. We did the Red Study room this evening with our adult children and our grandson, and we had an absolutely wonderful experience. We each brought different skills to the table, and worked fairly well together, save a tiny bit of controversy over the solving of just one of the puzzles, which took us so long that we ended up running out of time before we finished. The setting was ingeniously construed, and we look forward to doing one of the other rooms another time. What a fun time! I booked a time slot for the Escape Room for my daughters 14th birthday. What a blast it was. It was amazing how the kids jumped right in and worked together to find and solve the clues. The organizers/guide knew exactly when to give them a clue to help move them on but yet made sure they were doing their part. We are all definitely hooked and can't wait for another visit. Very well thought out. We had a group of eight people in the gallery for our first time here. The staff members were nice. I just think they should allow only 2 people per room. There were too many of us so some of us were just standing around when we were unlocking clues because physically not everyone can be doing the same thing at the same time. It was honestly a very fun experience, solving those puzzles is very rewarding and it creates good connections with the teamwork. The only down side is that the study has a few puzzles that did not have any clues whatsoever and when we actually found out about them at the end, they were in fact very challenging as well. I've been to other escape rooms and had more fun... the "game masters" (or whatever they're called here) weren't really engaging, the rooms were lackluster, and it's hard to have 9 strangers in a tiny room with you. The clues weren't consecutive, there were too many technological difficulties, and overall, you can do better elsewhere. If you like awkward silences, being so close to strangers that your butts touch, and don't really care for fun or excitement, this is your kind of place. Alternatively, if you come from money and want to buy $440 worth of tickets so that the room is "private" for you and your date, it's sort of alright as long as you're okay with the fact that the employees don't care at all. read more
