Mixed feelings about my experience here for a friend's bday. When we entered, Escapology was decorated nicely and had nice lighting. Workers were chill and there was even a room for birthday parties. Nice lil' photo op at the end for MEMORIES. My group tried the Mansion Murder room. We almost escaped but my main qualm was the overall flow of the room. Our game master guided us in the right direction but there were some discrepancies with the bells, codes toward the end and dim lighting. Maybe add a small flashlight for those with poor vision?? For $50.. I was expecting more flair with the production and effects. Should've done the Scooby Doo room :( read more

My adult kids were celebrating their birthday and decided this would be a fun family event. We had a reservation and chose the Scooby Doo Room. You are given one hour to escape. There were 4 of us. The event hostess was engaging and locked us in our room after explaining how to get out. We began in one small room and ended up going through a couple of rooms after deciphering the clues we each found. We solved it and had 1 minute 5 seconds left! It was crazy with so many clues and trying to find them, but this room was fun! We were so happy to have solved the clues and escape before our time was up. Visited this location on a weekday with 2 kids, 2 adults and a doggy. I had called in advance to ask if we could bring our small dog in his backpack & a very nice employee said that shouldn't be a problem. This was the perfect air conditioned activity for a hot muggy summer day. I had never been to an escape room. We had picked the Who Stole the Mona Lisa game. It really took all 4 of us working together to solve this (but we did use a lot of clues HA!) Our dog was a little hot in his backpack & an employee said it would be ok to let him out if we had to. We had him on his leash and he took a little nap on the cool floor. The employees were all very friendly and helpful. I think calling these escape rooms is a bit misleading because for claustrophobic people like me the term escape/room is terrifying & why I had always avoided these. I would say this was more of a private room for a group game. I would definitely do this again. We had fun & exercised our minds. read more

I went to Escapology Northridge today and had a blast with my friends! Kasey the AGM was amazing and very helpful in setting us up in our room. We chose the "Agatha Christie's murder on the orient express" room. We found it to be challenging which we loved. There are an intricately curated series of puzzles, and clues along the way. We made it out in the nick of time! I will absolutely be going back to try other rooms too! I saw that they do parties as well which is such a great idea and will definitely keep in mind for future birthdays! read more

We have done escape rooms by 6 different companies with varying levels of success escaping, but always had a great time whether we escaped or not. However that was not the case with this company. We have done 2 different escape rooms here and both times there was a malfunction where the employee had to manually fix it. Both times we wasted a lot of time on these malfunctions. In addition, these rooms have a lot of decoys, which we have not experienced as much at other companies. These decoys appeared to be puzzles needing to be solved or information that would be necessary to solve another puzzle, but were not actually used to escape from the room at all. They just waste a huge amount of your time. Also, solving some of the locks took a lot of pure guess and check as there were so many possibilities of what might lead to the combination and no clue as to what information was needed to solve it. This resulted in it being pure luck rather than deduction. So overall, the rooms malfunctioned, and there were far too many things that just wasted time making it more frustrating rather than fun. read more

My daughter decided that she wanted to do an escape room for her birthday activity. The location was easy to find. The activity was fun but I think we picked a hard game. We had to get a few clues. We were soooo close tho!!!! Ran out of time on the "last clue". And when they told us, we would have never gotten it! Overall we had fun but giving a 4/5 because of the difficult clues themselves (some did not makes sense even when given the hint). I also didn't like that when you signed up for a game, it doesn't tell you difficulty either. read more

The props and puzzles felt basic and unimpressive. For example, there were stray jackets thrown in that didn't add much, and the climax of the experience was just getting through two doors that led to more small rooms. It didn't feel exciting or like a big payoff. On top of that, we paid for a full hour, but by the time the tutorial/intro video (Batman explaining the mission) finished, we only had about 40 minutes left to actually play. That really cut into the value and left us feeling rushed. The staff and customer service were great, but unfortunately, that couldn't make up for the overall lack of quality in the room itself. read more

Shayna is the best game master and this place is phenomenal. I have done about 20 escape rooms and this place was so well thought out with great clues. I could not be happier! We came here and did the pirate's curse room. Sadly we did not escape our room, my soul is lost somewhere at sea for eternity. We had such a blast here. This was such a fun room. It says you can fit 8 people but I feel like you'd be cramped as the space is a bit small. Let me just say this was the cleanest and most immaculate escape room space I've visited. Everything is still pretty new. We had a first timer with us so they were nice enough to have us in prompt mode and would prompt us when they saw us struggling, and we still didn't escape lol. So I will say the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 has to do with a couple areas for improvement. So without spoiling it if three people think something is one color and it's not that color, it can cause an issue in solving something. Next, I appreciate when you solve something most of the areas in this room popped to let you know, one area didn't, my son looked at it a couple times but luckily they prompted us to let us know it was actually open. The last thing, and this is personal preference, but I am not a huge fan of combination locks. I mean I don't mind them it's fun finding and cracking codes, but in a dimly lit space even with a flashlight, some of the smaller locks or side locks are a little more difficult to see than others. So would I come again? Absolutely because we still had a great time even if we didn't escape and the staff was amazing. I always see in reviews, a room wasn't challenging or interactive enough. That is definitely not the case here. If you are looking for a really good challenge give this room a try.i read more

I believe you can book the room up to 8 people, which we did, but heads up the rooms can get a little on the tight side with bigger groups. If you are really stuck on a puzzle you can ask for hints from the staff, but it wasn't too hard to get out within the hour. read more

It's ok.... the aesthetic of the entrance is nicely decorated but the escape rooms are small compared to others I have tried. They shoved 8 different escape rooms in this building which means your group of 6 is shoved into tiny rooms. Nicely decorated spaces and puzzles were enjoyable but just felt cramped. I dont know if that's the case for other Escapology locations but I wouldn't return to this one. read more

We planned and specifically came for the Batman themed room for my husband's 50th birthday. Had family that traveled from out of town to celebrate and were going to do 2 different rooms. Unfortunately the Batman room was out of order. They were waiting for a part to be delivered and said it might arrive within 10min. So we waited. Unfortunately it didn't arrive but they said we could do a different room (picked Orient Express). They were very apologetic and gave us a discount for that day and for future visit. I took my 10 year old daughter here a couple months ago and we did the Scooby Doo escape room, and absolutely loved it! We enjoyed it so much, we decided to come back and try a different escape room/experience. And this time, we brought my girlfriend, who had never done an escape room before. It started out good. We aren't the fastest at solving things, but if given the time I think we do OK. We solved a couple puzzles and then got stuck and requested a hint around 10 minutes in to the 60min experience. Great, we get past that puzzle and move on to more. We asked for 1 more hint maybe 10 minutes later, and then get through that part. Again, all is going fine at this point; we have 40 minutes remaining and feel like we're in decent shape to escape within the 60 min time limit. Then, all of a sudden, we hear the monitor in the main room give an unsolicited hint, and some lockbox opens up without us even doing anything. OK.... that was strange (we say to ourselves) - we didn't even hit the button asking for a clue. It was obvious the clue skipped over a puzzle or two because there was some missing context, but we try to roll with it. Then, it happens again! And again! And again! I keep saying "they're giving us clues we're not asking for - this isn't fun", thinking the gamemaster can see/hear us and would stop giving unsolicited hints. And yet, it keeps happening! Each time, we're obviously missing context (because we didn't get the opportunity to solve the previous clues), so the clues make no sense so we fumble through trying to do what it says without really understanding how the heck we got there. By the time we get like our 7th unrequested hint and we do the thing it says to do, the lights shine and we hear that we solved the puzzle. Batman is still in mid-sentence - congratulating us - when the guy opens the door and says "good job guys you solved the puzzle". I look at the clock and there's about 25 minutes left, so we paid to have max 60 minutes but after only 20 minutes of actual gameplay we got rushed through. He asks how we liked it, and I politely told him I didn't like that we kept getting hints without requesting them and it sort of ruined the experience. He just sat there with a dumb look on his face and asks if we wanted to take a picture... In short, this place CAN be a fun experience. BUT if you get a shitty Gamemaster that continuously gives you a bunch of hints you don't ask for, rushing you through the experience so you only really get 20 minutes of time to actually have fun trying to solve puzzles, it's a pretty crappy experience. My daughter and I were looking forward to getting my girlfriend hooked on escape rooms so we can come back and bring her kids too, but after this experience I doubt she'll want to try an escape room again. What a shame. read more

The energy! I love how helpful every one is. The rooms are super fun and they really make you think and force you to work together. I would highly recommend these escape rooms for all ages. I can't wait to go back. We tried out the 7 deadly sins and it was quite the challenge. We didn't make it out in time lol they said it's a 8.5/10 in the hardness scale. So I wasn't too hard on myself. Still had a blast and learned a lot about how my man and I work together under pressure lol read more

We did the pirate curse room room today and we wasted around 15 minutes on puzzles we thought were broken. The locks would not unlock unless you pressed it down with a lot of force and even though we solved the map puzzle, the only indication was a short light flash. The light did not tell us that a drawer had opened as there was no sound, and we ended up thinking the drawer was just part of the furniture. Really sad. read more

Really great experience all around from booking to playing. Staff was friendly and helpful. Did the Adult Scooby Doo room with 3 younger teens/tweens range (age 11 - 13) and one adult. Perfect amount of people in that room and was a perfect challenge for that age group. It was super fun and felt like we were solving a Scooby Doo mystery! Also reasonably priced. Unlike some other commenters who had a less than stellar experience in different rooms - everything in this room worked perfectly and was in excellent condition - felt almost new. Probably the worst escape room experience I've had. We did the Dark Night room and nothing in the room worked. We never actually got the satisfaction of "solving" anything ourselves because they would just manually open and unlock things for us since it wasn't doing it on its own. The hint screen even apologized to us and added back 3 mins. lol There was 0 flow to any of the puzzles either. I've done about 100 rooms now and this is bar far the worst one. read more

My friend and I had the BEST time at Escapology! We first came in and did the Seven Sins room, and we had the best time! Our GM was very quick to respond whenever we asked for hints. The hints were never "do this and that", the hints just pointed us in the right direction without telling us exactly what to do. It felt like we were still figuring it out ourselves. We came back a week later and did the Mansion Murder room, and I think it was even better the second time. Our GM was training the last time we had been there and it was fun to get to do the room with them again. This room was a little bit tricky at parts, but that's what makes a room fun. Are there things that still don't make sense to me....yes....but HEY that's all a part of the game. My friend and I have done 100+ escape room's but this one FOR SURE is high up on our list. We are itching to come back and try out the Scooby Doo room! If I could give this 10 stars I WOULD!! read more
