For all the hype with the t-shirts and Legacy this restaurant has in Stillwater, we were not very impressed. We've lived here for 3 years, and I would say at least 10 people have shared with us that the quality, portion size, and value for the money at Eskimo Joe's has gone down considerably in recent years. I came here with my coworker and our managers while we were in Stillwater,OK for a recruiting trip. My coworker had heard from her friend who goes to OSU that this was the place to go while in Stillwater. We heard this repeated from the various attendees at the career fair so we decided to eat here on a cold Thursday night. We arrived around 7pm and were told that there was about a 15 minute wait - which of course, we were willing to live with. While wandering back to the ladies room, we ran into the mascots of Eskimo Joe's - it was quite a sight to see! We were actually seated fairly quickly (but close the door so it was a bit chilly!) and our waitress was quick to come by and make sure that we were taken care of. So, you can't come here without ordering the fries, and we did. TWO ORDERS: Sweet Peppered Bacon Cheese Fries and Black and Bleu Cheese Fries. OMG the amount of stuff on those guys was insane. By the time we finished our fries and our entrees showed up (burgers for all of us) we were all having trouble finishing our dinners. Excellent and fun experience. Service was speedy and unobtrusive (but again...fun!) and food was fresh and delicious. If you are ever in the area I seriously recommend trying this place!!! read more

Let me first start with my server, Joe. He was excellent. As a first timer to Eskimo Joe's, I think I had way too high of expectations. Please note that 3 stars means it's good. I'm just not a fan. Multiple people told me to order cheese fries. So i did. They had peppered bacon on them. Everything seems over priced, but they've been in business for decades. I think everyone should go at least once so they can say they went. I even over heard another table mentioning it was their first time. Ask to be seated as far from the front door if possible. When the doors open, cold air hits you and then your food gets colder faster. The pickles at the beginning were an interesting touch. I liked them. I wouldn't want too many though. I didn't have a chance to go to the retail side, but there were lots of bussed in kids that were shopping. Everyone had bags, so you can buy that stuff there instead of waiting for Christmas time at the mall. read more

If you want the Oklahoma State experience this place should be on your list. Great bacon cheese fries, pretty good chicken sandwich, and that's about it. The cups are cool. But the wait is always way too long. NEVER go on a home football game day, if you do 1.5 hour wait at minimum. On game days the food is also sub par due to them trying to get it out quicker. Visiting Stillwater Eskimo Joes is a popular stop for locals and tourists. The gift shop is extensive and filled with a variety of themed gifts and clothing items. The sales racks were very cheaply priced. Service was prompt and friendly in both the gift shop and restaurant during our visit, which was on a Tuesday evening about an hour before they closed. My group decided to order dessert since we had already filled ourselves at Palominos (see other review). Since their milkshakes had supposedly been raved about by the Food Network, I ordered the apple pie milkshake. It was a decent milkshake, but there was nothing special about it that I would consider TV worthy. The other desserts ordered we good, but nothing that would make me recommend Eskimo Joes as a must eat destination. read more

Fun place. Here on Thirsday night and got seating for party of 10 almost right away. Food was ok, but don't come here for the food. Come because it's an icon. Get a souvenir. Cheese fries were WAY better than the salad. (Disclaimer, I'm from Colorado and I should have known better) at any rate, if you are coming here just get the fries and maybe a burger. Our group got fries, chicken sandwiches, sliders and salads. Skip the salads. Adults that order s fountain drink get a souvenir cup. Had lunch here today with my family. We had the onion rings and fried mushrooms appetizer to start. This was really good! We also had the sweet pepper bacon cheese fries that were really good as well. However, when it comes to the burgers, it went downhill fast. Why ask us how we want our burgers cooked if they are all going to come out the same well done and dry? To be honest this was the worst burger I've had in some time. It was thrown together worse than something I'd expect at McDonald's. Patty hanging halfway off the bun. Cheese halfway off the patty. Stack of 5 pickles on one corner of the burger. One small slice of tomato on one side. Limp soggy piece of green lettuce on the other side. 2 burgers were ordered medium rare and 2 were ordered medium. They all came out well done and dry. Our server was great and management tried to make it right. They offered to redo them but we passed because we needed to get going. They also took some off our tab for the inconvenience. I've lived in Stillwater over 3 years and 1 block from Eskimo Joe's, needless to say I've been there several times. It is not much more than a Stillwater tourist attraction. It is always crowded and loud. Seating doesn't take too long usually but you will wait awhile for your food which will be mediocre. The bar is a good time but the bartenders don't tend to be extra friendly. I've also never had a drink there that I've enjoyed. I'm my opinion, go to Eskimo Joe's once so you can say you did it and hit a landmark of classic Stillwater, OK. But don't overlook all the local restaurants that are far better and see far fewer customers. (Ex. Cafe 88 is right behind Eskimo Joe's and is one of the best spots in the area). read more

Eskimo Joe's is one of those places you have to go! The atmosphere is textbook as far as College restaurants go and really is a staple. As far as the menu goes, no doubt the fries steal show which is both good and bad in my opinion. I have driven an hour before just to go grab some Cheese Fries with peppered smoked bacon. I would say the main courses I have were just average. The frito pie was exactly what you would expect and the burger just the same. But that doesn't change the fact that if you visit Stillwater, Ok, you gotta find Eskimo Joe's, get some fries, a to-go cup and one of their trademark T-Shirts! read more

I feel like a traitor to my people casting this vote, but honestly? Joe's is sadly overrated. None of the food is all that amazing (though the bacon cheese fries are pretty good) compared to the other local selections. I would give it 2 stars based on the food itself, but of course the cups and merch are so iconic that I gotta bump it up another star. I'm not sure there's a house in Stillwater that doesn't have at least one Eskimo Joe's cup laying around somewhere. We had stacks of them in my house growing up, enough I could take a set with me to college. It's worth the visit just to satisfy your curiosity, but I'd never choose to eat there voluntarily without playing tour guide. The restaurant is loud, so don't expect to be able to have a conversation with anyone other than your immediate table-neighbor. Especially when it's crowded, the sound echoes off the wood floors and through the acoustics of the skylight ceiling. It's a popular bar at night, so it's designed more for that than a nice sit-down meal. As far as bars go, there are also better for atmosphere and people. Joe's is great on slow weekdays in the summer when most the regular college crowd is gone, though, and they run some weekly specials that might make it worth the visit. On the whole, though, you shouldn't come here for the service, food, or drinks - go to get your cup, maybe a shirt, and a checklist on essential Stillwater. read more

The food here was very mediocre almost boring. Where as Eskimo Joe's once served as a thriving restaurant and bar it now lives in its own shadow. It is more of a tourist attraction and gift shop than it is a half decent restaurant. The only somewhat redeeming quality to this otherwise lack luster place is the waiting staff. Visiting a friend in OK, she suggested cheese fries from Eskimo Joe's! I got the basic Cheese Fry, she got the Smoked Pepper Bacon Fry. Mine were okay, lots of cheese, but a lot of my fries were burnt greasy crisps. Very nice flavor, though. My friend admits the best part is the bacon, but being a vegetarian, I couldn't try it. The sweet peppered bacon cheese fries were awesome! The Cowboy Classic burger was incredible as well. I added jalapeños to it too. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the Swiss Mushroom Burger. To me it's an over priced chili's my opinion won't matter but there it is. The burgers are average and the menu is Uber basic and I pay loads of money it's so busy I have to basically wait for my waiter/waitress or tell them multiple times to get something and then I end up just forgetting until I pay land it's on my ticket and then I ask about it. read more
