Location: Super convenient location off of the G line at the Nostrand stop. The place gets packed during lunch and after work hours but that's the best to go to guarantee the food is fresh. Food: They switch up some of the offerings every day so whenever you go you'll see something a little different! Everything I've tried so far has been delicious from the arroz, maduros, pescado, chuleta etc. Service: The people can be very short with you when your ordering, but this isn't the type of place you'd expect pleasant bedside manners- they're keeping it moving. I have walked by this deli every morning for 6 months and finally made my way in because I was curious and didn't know what to have for dinner. I am so happy I did! They had a buffet of Dominican food and the wonderful lady at the counter gave me a sample of the pernil which was moist and so flavorful! I paid $11 for rice, beans, and pernil enough for two people, a super steal! She also gave me some free pico de gallo and jalapeños to take home. Amazing hospitality, incredible food and a hard to beat price !!! read more

I am so grateful that my boyfriend and I randomly stumbled here because I suddenly got hungry. This is such a find! For a deli, the variety is crazy... hot food, sandwiches, Latin food, American, etc. I was pretty skeptical of the food's temperature, but both the temp and the flavor really impressed me! The guac was a little too sour though. They also have a little store in the back with some pretty unique stuff -- Dominican soda, health drinks, and exotic beers. Overall, you can try a bit of many dishes (especially if you share with others), and everything is priced well. Espinal also seems to be a popular spot to hang out. They only have a few tables and a few bar stools, but almost a crowd in here on a random Saturday afternoon socializing and laughing it up! read more

One of my favorite delis! Fresh & hot food served daily for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I love coming here for their Dominican oatmeal, pernil, sancocho, pork ribs, fried chicken, etc. It's hard to go wrong with anything here and the prices cannot be beat. Part II of me looking for a new breakfast place in Brooklyn and failing (See other review for prior fail.) First off let me say this place has a lot of "flavor", when I came in there was a verbal fight in progress with a lady threatening another and inviting her outside to "crack her ass." When I left another incident was occurring while the police were removing a drunken lady who was loitering there, and asking customers for a free lunch. (Must say it was peacefully handled, and this customer and cop were-literally-dancing together at one point). This kind of human drama does not bother me, especially since this place has so much seating, so I can be a spectator rather than a participant. I also like that you pick up your own food instead of having a wait "person" bring it to you. Many Food items are warming up and are visible to you as you wait in line and they gave me a gigantor amount of home fries with my order. The minus was the food. My eggs were EGGceptable but the home fries seemed EGGcessively spiced, with I don't know what. They claimed it was only onions and peppers, but it was something else, like oil and vinegar. Perhaps this is the Puerto Rican style, so if that's what your looking for you'll love this place, especially since they were playing bachata/merengue/salsa the whole time. The other minus is there was no breakfast special. They had to figure out the price there. As others have noted this can be annoying, EGGspecially if the price is different each time you come in. I could not finish the potatoes, no matter how much ketchup and hot sauce I added the extra taste came through. I even tried to give it away before I added the condiments, but there were no takers (I admit I might not take second hand food, but even the lady begging for money for food wouldn't take it). I am now at a Dunkin Donuts trying to kill the home fries taste with donuts. I still haven't found an ideal cheap breakfast place, it's a shame this couldn't be it, it's so near to a train, and I got the unlimited metrocard and I'm willing to travel. As a Dominican from miami I want to love this place and I've been here a bunch trying so hard to make this place my thing but It just doesn't do it for me. Large selection, always busy, friendly and prompt service, decent pricing, close by subway - so for all these reasons it's great but other than the rice being good, when I go the chicken is on the dry side, the Sancocho (served Thursday and sat) is too much plantain, not enough meat and broth is too watery. Espinal is a great local Bed Stuy eatery. The food is served deli style and almost always fresh. $7 for a giant plate of rice and a meat topping of choice, which changes daily. But my favorite is the beef stew. Knocking one star because some of the meat toppings are a bit weird for my taste, it can sometimes be a gamble so I stick to what I know. It's also just a typical NYC mini mart with beer, drinks and snacks. If you live in the area you owe yourself to try it, and show up early sometimes the good stuff runs out. read more

Don't don't don't do it. I used to occasionally grab food here. Yes, the food is good sometimes. Its not always consistent. I always knew they had a cleanliness problem. Today i picked up some rice and beans and chicken. I tasted it and thought to myself " it doesn't taste good today" the rotisserie chicken needed to be cooked more so i popped in the oven for 15 minutes. Hungry, i prepared my food on a plate. As i'm eating, not really enjoying my food i'm looking at every fork full i'm taking. As i'm scopping up food on my fork. I notice a rat POOP! yes, a rat poop in my food. Im trying to examine it trying to see if it can possibly anything else. I'm Haitian and we use similar spices and herbs as Dominicans and this was no spice or seasoning it was rat shit. I just took a couple breaths threw my food away and now quietly writing this review. Food options included different types of rice dishes and meat options. I went with the rice and beans--savory and moist. For the meat, I went with the pork. From what I could tell the pork was a small pig that had been roasted whole, had the head pieces in the pan. All the crispy skin pieces were there too. And it tasted as good as it looked--salty, crispy, meaty with just the right amount of fat. They had a lot of fish and chicken dishes and stews too which looked great. Horrible delivery service, I placed an order into today at 8:00am and when I called again at 9:00 I had to reorder my whole entire order. Which then still didn't come until around 10:30, due to them taking down the incorrect address and then sending our order to the wrong location. When we finally received the order HALF of the things were incorrect, asked for an egg and cheese on one and it looked like someone slapped the egg on the bread and had NO cheese, Two other orders were incorrect and then to add on top of that the person who answers the phone is even worse. When called back to complain she stated there nothing we can do and that "she speaks Spanish, if you don't speak Spanish I can't understand you " Which I find very inconvenient to customers who are non- Spanish speaking and that are paying to order food and receive the correct order.
