When checking out, we were surprised the prices were higher than our last visit. The barista asked what milk we wanted, so we asked if there was an upcharge for alternative milks. She said no -- then she proceeded to charge us for oat milk. Not a big deal, it just spoils the experience a bit. Will likely be back! The lavender latte was pretty good!

Closed in October of '24…read more I had breakfast there with my friends from the Nantucket Amateur Radio Association in June '24; a weekly occurrence on Tuesdays with this radio gang. A great breakfast. Old school. Diner-style grill restaurant. Everything was made to order and they offered very good and complicated breakfasts: avocados, lobster, and poached this that and the other. We heard about the doughnuts. Never had one. In September of '24 the Inky reported that the Downyflake was to permanently close. So we made a day trip just to try the doughnuts. In fact, we did this in October the weekend before they closed. Off of Straight Wharf, a taxi ride out, bought a few doughnuts, uber'ed back to town, got some coffee from The Hub, and walked and sat on our bench on Easy Street over looking the Wharf Rat Club. Heaven. Everyone should experience Nantucket. I will say, we were lucky and happy to experience the doughnuts. The doughnuts, yes, are still sticking to my ribs a year later. More oil than the Exxon Valdez. We will miss you old friend. Even though the rumor is a new one will open... someday.

I saw that the menu had breakfast sandwiches (with your choice of meat) - Unfortunately they waitress informed me that linguica was not an option on this sandwich - which it really should be!. I opted for a side of the linguini and a english muffin to craft my own sandwich (AND - Bonus to save room for a doughnut or 2) It was tasty - but not the linguica of my childhood that oozed red grease, this one was pretty lean and more dense than I remember. The volume of finely shredded lobster meat, that was also warm in that hot dog roll was smaller than the Jimmy Dean link. 0-Stars. My recommendations for a "good" lobster roll is to go anywhere else on island. I'd recommend Sayle's Seafood, The Nantucket Lobster Trap or Stubby's. In fact, I'd just stay clear of the Club Car altogether, it is one of those places for the self-focused New York / Miami new [vulgar] money jet-set that treat the island like their play-thing... you know, you see their empty beer cans in the morning around town. I have been trying for almost a year to contact The Club Car about an experience I had. I have called multiple times, left messages, and emailed, but I have never received a response. I made reservations at The Club Car's sister restaurant, Nantucket Tap Room. My confirmation text said my reservation was at The Club Car, so I called right away. I was told not to worry because they are sister restaurants and the confirmation "just said The Club Car." On the day of our reservation, I called the Tap Room just to confirm. That's when I was told I did not have a reservation there and that it was actually at The Club Car. Thankfully, the manager was able to get us a table at the Tap Room. When we arrived, I asked the hostess if The Club Car had been notified, and she assured me the reservation had been canceled. I had a wonderful dinner with my husband and son. We spent well over $400 and left very happy. Then I received my credit card statement and saw a $75 no-show charge from The Club Car. I immediately called and was told a manager would contact me. No one ever did. Nearly a year later, after multiple phone calls, voicemails, and emails requesting a refund, I still have not received a single response. The reservation mix-up was frustrating, but what has been even more disappointing is the complete lack of customer service afterward. I understand that mistakes happen, but charging a customer a no-show fee after your own staff assured them everything had been taken care of, then ignoring every attempt to resolve it for almost a year, is unacceptable.
