If you were to randomly walk in to try the food like I did you will be in safe hands. The place is big, having multiple places for you to enjoy the atmosphere. The staff that helped me was nice enough to go through all the items that he thought I would like after we talked for a bit. The serving size is larger than I expected. The dish I ordered had a serving of fries, cilantro rice in a deep green color, and a pan seared steak dish with onions and veggies next to it. All of this for one single order. My friend had something similar but instead of steak they gave him a whole chicken thigh. The food tasted great albeit a little salty for my preference. They also have their own juice they made and you could taste the freshness. You can taste how fresh everything is actually. I've seen this particular venue go through a course of various foods and vendors, but I'm hoping this one is a keeper! Even though we had a couple of weird delivery errors (wouldn't let us order on any site, but called and they said they were accepting), we decided to just go and stop in. The place is simple, you order at the counter, self-serves water and utensils on the side, and hand written signs for menu items and specials. We ordered the 1/2 Chicken, Lomo Salado Platter, Brasa sandwich, side of Yucca fritas, tres leches, flan, and jugao de maracuya. The jugo was passion fruit flavor and it was so tasty! Had a nice balance of tangy and sweet. The dessert are out on display so we ate them first and even they were tasty as well - not too sweet and soft. My favorite entree was the 1/2 Chicken or Lomo Salado Platter -- very generous portion size, the cilantro rice is so good, and the meat in both were very juicy and tender. Have visited Estacion Inka many times and have never ever been disappointed. Lately this place has been extremely vibrant and full of people during the lunch hour when I have visited. They have multiple lunch combos for pretty affordable options- I got the chicken, fries and salad- everything tasted perfect and came out hot. They provide a good variety of sauces as well! There is a decent amount of tables and I have never had trouble finding a spot to sit- and the food has always been prepared fresh and comes out within 10ish minutes. My sister and I got lunch here, and let me tell you, the lunch deal is BOMB. It's super filling, really cheap, and really delicious. We always salivated looking inside while we waited for the bus at the bus stop outside, and we were so excited to try it and it does live up to the hype. Plus, there is fun music playing so you can't help but bop along while you eat. I got chicken with rice and beans and my sister got chicken with rice and salad. The chicken was juicy and all of the sides were just as good. The two sauces: the green and the yellow ones, that they give you with your meal complement the chicken really well. We especially love the green sauce-wonderfully creamy and spicy. We got this drink called chicha morada! It's made from purple corn. It's earthy like tea and has the spice flavor palette of horchata, and it's fruity like lemonade. We were hesitant to get it but the extremely friendly cashier let us sample it before buying it. However, it was a clean, spacious and comfortable restaurant. We had the lomo saltado and the lunch special with Peruvian roast chicken along with a passion fruit juice. Both dishes were tasty though I didn't think the cilantro rice was worth the $2.50 adder. We enjoyed both sauces they offer (aji amarillo - a mild, yellow mayo-based sauce and the aji verde- a green spicy cilantro sauce). Estacion Inka is one of the best food places in Madison. Loved by pretty much anyone you ask, their food is just exactly what hits the spot when walking down University. Everyone recommends the half chicken with white rice and beans, and for good reason. It always comes out hot and packed full of flavor. As a Miami native living in Madison, I was excited to find a Peruvian restaurant featuring many favorite dishes. It somehow took me quite a while to make it to Estacion Inka, but better late than never! We ordered the arroz con cerdo (rice and pork) and the lomo saltado (steak with fries). The arroz con cerdo came with black beans and sweet plaintains, and the lomo saltado came with white rice. Both also brought two sauces - a super spicy green sauce and a mayonnaise-y yellow sauce. Finally, we also added yucca fries to the order, because... why not? The online ordering process was super smooth, and the pickup option was convenient and quick. Everything was delicious. The meat was tasty and tender, the beans were flavorful... I ate a little too much because I couldn't stop. One disclaimer to this review is that I ordered takeout during the pandemic... And I was a bit late to pick up my order. So I can only imagine getting the food hot off the grill in the restaurant in the future. And now for the impossible-to-understand question: How did I forget to order dessert?? I was so sad because Estacion Inka has BOTH tres leches (deliciously moist milk cake) AND flan. I got lomo saltado (w/ beef & cilantro rice) and a chicha morada. The beef of the lomo saltado was tender and juicy. During my first trip to Madison WS, I wanted to try out different ethnic cuisines. One place that was recommended to me was Estacion Inka. My brother told me to get the whole chicken and I got two sides: tostones (twice fried green plantains) and platanos dulces fritos (sweet plantains). The chicken was smoky and cooked perfectly and had great seasonings. I like the sweet plantains more than the tostones but both were good. There were also 3 different dipping sauces (red, green, and yellow bottles), which helped to bring out some additional factors in the chicken and plantains. It's pretty easy to walk by this place and not think twice about, as it is not the most aesthetically enticing place in the world. However, this restaurant features some of the most flavorful cuisine in the area. It's very clear that the owners intricately transcribed Peruvian traditions and recipes when curating the menu, as the quality and depth of flavor is something I have only ever experienced in South America. The service is also amazing and this restaurant has remained one of my favorites, if not my favorite, in madison for the past few years. I couldn't finish every last nite like I wanted to, on account of the pretty large portion. The rice was cooked perfectly, I didn't have to add any salt. The green sauce was a dream, and must be sour cream based because my hubs could eat it despite an egg allergy. (I thought it was mayo based looking at it.) I really wanted to love Estacion Inka when we dropped by for dinner. All the photos looked good, the menu sounded delicious, Peruvian roast chicken is something I love, and even better, it was fast casual. Maybe we went too late in the day (a little before 7 pm), but we had a pretty mediocre experience unfortunately. I tried ordering the arroz con pollo, but they had run out of cilantro rice, so they told me no, even when I asked if I could substitute (cheaper) white rice. I ended up getting a quarter chicken with a side of rice & beans, and requested white meat, like I have at every rotisserie or roast chicken place ever with no problem, and was told that they couldn't guarantee that but would just request it on the ticket. First time I've ever gotten that response to a white meat request, and considering they were still taking orders when we left, I doubt they were down to their last chicken of the day. After the ordering snafus, I hoped that the food would make up for it. Some of it was good. The chicken had good flavor and wasn't dry at all, which was nice. (By the way, I ended up being given dark meat, not white meat, so had to trade with someone else in my group who got a half chicken.) The chicken itself was the best part of the meal. I've had better green sauce, but it was pretty good. I ended up trying some of a friend's creole salsa, which was like a marinated onion salad, and that was tasty. But the rice was hard, the beans were cold and kind of boring, the service was very slow, and ordering was completely frustrating. The wife and I each ordered the lunch special...Peruvian style rotisserie chicken. This is some of the best chicken I have ever had. Everything a rotisserie chicken should be: tender and flavorful with a nice crispy skin. It comes with a spicy green sauce for extra heat and flavor that is beyond amazing. They seriously need to bottle and sell the stuff. They have salchipapas which is basically a platter of hotdogs and fries but they are just so good. Everything on their menu sounds delicious. It's all made from scratch and it shows. They have fresh smoothies and juices, but I recommend washing everything down with an Inca Cola. Although the place is small (only 8 tables) it's clean. Came here after seeing gluten-free labels on the menu. Walking in the place appears under renovation (or just sparsely decorated), but it is clean casual environment with plenty of seating. Food came out quickly, and I was so impressed by the plating of the dishes I had to take some photos. The food was not only beautiful but DELICIOUS, large portion sizes and so so flavorful. Ordered online, sandwich was ready to pick up when I got there on bike. I got the chicharron (pork) sandwich. Kind of a seasoned shredded pork with sweet potato fries and flavored red onion.
