    Pollo a la parilla
    Natalie M.

I've been to Estampas for so many years and I'm shocked I haven't reviewed it in so long (I guess 16 years ago I did..)! I went recently with a friend and we tried the pescado saltado and the pollo a la parrilla. Both were amazing! The saltados overall are amazing! They are perfectly flavored. They came with rice and fries, tomatoes and onions. I liked it a lot! The pollo a la parrilla is generous. The breast is well seasoned and juicy. This came with rice, salad with an aji amarillo sauce and then some fried potatoes. Delish. They always give you some bread, butter and a green sauce (ají verde) as a starter. So yummy.

Peruvians will travel for this place- my cousins who live deep in the South Bay wanted to meet here, and I can see why. You can count on the lomo saltado to be delicious. We were laughing when I took the picture of the lomo because where else do you get to have fries, rice AND bread? The lomo was juicy and easy to eat, the onions were on point- not evenly cooked with a bite, and the fries were bomb. The portion is very generous- two can share or you can indulge. For health reasons one cousin chose the chicken, and she was sad because it wasn't as good. The table next to us had the duck and rice, and they reported that it was delicious. The cousins will be getting that next time. That plate looked like it could have fed four girls easily. The staff is very attentive. The owner was there, and he was very friendly to chat with. The old school restaurant interior is decorated with lots of Peruvian things. They have the TV going on along with music, but you can hold a conversation easily. It's on a meter free block with maybe a 1-2 hour limit, and the rest of the area has meters.

    Loma Saltado

Wanted to try something different for dinner, decided on Peruvian food. Ordered the Loma Saltado, and it did not disappoint. Asked to get my food to go, and was ready in about 10 mins. The steak tender, vegetables cooked perfect and fries a little soggy but mostly likely because I got it to go instead of having it at the restaurant. Only disappointment was the cookies I bought very dry and not very flavorful. Definitely would recommend giving them a try.

I've been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid. The customer service, atmosphere, and food are amazing. The consistency on everything is always there. They serve some of the best Peruvian food I've tried in the USA, even compared to Miami, this spot is better. A delicious home cooked meal style every time I visit.

    Milanesa de Pollo

It's been quite a while since I last visited Estampas Peruanas, so I was excited to return. We arrived at around 1ish on Tuesday, and there were plenty of open tables. While we were deciding what to order, we were brought bread, butter, hominy, and their green chili sauce - such a great way to whet the appetite. I was excited that they also had diet Inca cola, which many places do not carry. We ordered the Milanesa con Pollo and the Pescado a lo macho to share. Decent sized portions. Love the milanesa - crispy and flavorful. As for the Pesacdo a lo macho, the snapper was a bit on the small side which was hard to tell as it was covered with all the other seafood. The sauce was good, especially with the rice. We were definitely full when we were done.

Always been looking forward to the bread here served with whipped butter and spicy green sauce. It keeps your appetite primed for the main attraction. Our go to dish here is the saltado de pollo: deep fried non-breaded chicken, tossed with onions, tomato and french fries in soy sauce! This in my opinion is the quintessential Peruvian dish as it captures the essence of "chifa" (Chinese-inspired cuisine with South American ingredients).

Pan con Chicharron Saturday and Sunday Special
    Barbara C.

I used to come here a long time ago but it has been many years. We came here on a Sunday to get pan con chiccaron and papa a la huancaina. The huancaina was ok. It's usually my favorite. The pan con chiccaron was good though I feel it could have more filling since there is so much bread. The green salsa they give you with bread is very good. I loved it and the pineapple juice was amazing though expensive. The only issue was that the waiter never brought my sauce. We ordered a side of huancaina sauce and I was already have done with my sandwich and still had not got the sauce and he hadn't come to check on us. When we finally got his attention we asked about the sauce and he said he forgot and he went and got it though I didn't need it anymore since we didn't have any food left for it so that was a waste of money. Other than that the food was good.

The restaurant was a little more than half full when we had dinner there on a Friday night and the ambiance is lively but not loud. We ordered a variety of dishes and everything was delicious, with very generous portion sizes that left us so full (with leftovers to spare). The ceviches were bright, limey, and tart in the best way, the chicken wings were crispy and juicy, the papa rellena was especially interesting (almost like an inside-out, deep-fried baked potato) with olives and raisins that were a pleasant surprise, and the lomo saltado was as comforting and dependable as it usually is. To top it all off, they even offer Peruvian beers, which was the perfect way to wash everything down. The location is a little bit odd but easy enough to find and park (there is plenty of parking across the main street in front of the BevMo if there isn't any directly in front of the restaurant).

We arrived at about 1:00-1:30 and the inside main dining area was already closed to patrons as staff prepared for the evening service. The host's tone did not encourage potential customers to dine there during the transition to dinner prep. Not a great first impression that gave off a late arrival so you'll get what's leftover vibe which was exacerbated by being forgotten for what seemed to be a half hour before our waitperson came to take our order. We chose to sit in the front sidewalk patio which was cold and windy not an alternate choice we will need to make again. We ended up sitting across from two loud, self-centered, immature, foul-mouthed college grad girls bragging about studying for their masters attempting to appear cultured were distracting everyone on that patio. After we placed our order, we finished up the app and hubbs was furious they forgot about his glass of pinot which arrived without an apology for the delay preceding our plate arrivals. I had the ny strip steak on the breakfast menu which came out perfectly med-well & added cilantro rice which was good although a little sticky not fluffy. Hubbs had the salmon which looked amazing and he enjoyed the mango sauce--the dish just didn't fill him up. Good thing we ordered fresh chips, salsa& guac.--which was very well prepared; the freshest guac I've ever had. It had fresh chopped tomatoes & green chiles all perfectly combined. Our wait person/food server made up for the less than stellar first impression of the host. And the food was flavorful. The ambiance was ruined by the diners across from us and the forgetfulness of taking our orders timely and serving the wine after the appetizer couldn't bring us back from what started out as negative experience. There are many restaurants up & down the bay that we aren't bothered. This wasn't the best reception nor dining experience and we are moving on. We hope it's a lesson and possibly could've just been a bad day for the crew, and unfortunately there is so much competition out there. We highly recommend the food for its freshness and flavor; recommend the salmon dish for its flavor and balance but not for its portion size. And wish this place nothing but the best and to improve where they dropped the ball.

The restaurant was very pretty, with a sleek and floral theme. Also, I noticed some herby smell which was pleasant so extra hats off to that detail. I placed a reservation of 5 at 7:45 pm on a Friday night with me and my family, and we had no issues getting to our table. We were a bit late, however staff made sure that we get seated in no time. Once we got sat down, we got our menus and took some time to decide what to order. Our amazing friend and waitress Elizabeth made sure to give us time to thoroughly look through the menu and decide on what we were going to eat. She was very friendly and caring, and was so excited to take our order, which elevated her experience. Her suggestions were perfect for our family. We ordered the Mixto Clásico ceviche, 2 orders of truffle mac and cheese, Arroz Con Mariscos, Pollo A La Brasa (Half chicken), Beef Anticuchero Roll, and Lengua a La Parilla. In five minutes, the staff already brought the ceviche, which included calamari, fish, veggies, and the taro chips. It was refreshing and citrusy. After we finished that , then another 3 minutes goes by, and everything arrived. I was so shocked on how fast they serve especially because of how busy they were. All the dishes were so fresh and cooked to perfection. The mac was so creamy, cheesy, and delectable especially because of the truffles. The pollo a la brasa was cooked nice and tender, served with fries, and that yellow sauce was addicting, literally ON CRACK. The lengua was great, the mashed potatoes along with the lengua, shrimp, and spicy sauce gave it texture and flavor. The nikkei beef antichchuero roll I was surprised with. Sushi in a Peruvian restaurant? However, I did not expect to be one of the best and interesting rolls I have tried ever. The arroz con mariscos was my favorite by far. It really reminds me of a Spanish paella, with a seafood galore presented with a bed of rice and veggies. It was very filling and delicious. Of course, we couldn't just end there, we obviously had to go for dessert. We chose the Tres Leches cake, and it was presented with chocolate, caramel, and strawberry sauce which was sweet and smooth. Paired with the cake, it was so good and a genius combination. In the end, when leaving, our staff asked us if we needed any extra help with anything before we left, which was a very kind gesture. When we left, the staff kindly greeted us a warm goodbye, and thanked Elizabeth especially for helping us order these great assortments of dishes. In the end, we left with our stomachs full of food and great memories.
