I had a great experience at Estampas Peruanas. I ordered the lomo saltado, and it was really flavorful, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. The portion was satisfying, and the combination of the beef, onions, tomatoes, and fries made for a delicious meal. They had a pretty big area to seat people and when I went was around dinner time so there was a small wait but that did not negatively impact the experience what so ever which resulted in the food coming out hot n freshly made. Overall, the food and service were both very good, and I would definitely come back to try some of their other Peruvian dishes. My only criticism is that I found the prices to be a little on the high side compared to similar restaurants. That being said, the quality of the food was good enough that I still felt it was worth trying. Prices may deter a population of people which they should improve on but definitely a spot I would recommend if you're craving Peruvian food! read more

We just arrived in Redwood City after 10 hours on the road and just wanted to find something close by to eat. Found this place randomly on yelp and decided to try it with zero expectations. As soon as we walked in, we were hit by the live music and fun atmosphere. We ordered the NY steak for our daughter. We were going to order it cooked medium for her but most places usually overcook the steaks so we went with medium rare. This place does not overcook their steaks. It came out medium rare and maybe rare in some parts. It tasted great but we did try to cut around the rarer parts for our daughter. She ate half the steak and loved it. I ordered a seafood dish in tomato cream sauce and it was so good mixed with rice! My husband got the saltado with fried fish and that was good too, but maybe the fried fish on fries was a little too much fried stuff. Everything tasted great and service was friendly. I loved the music but it was a little too loud for my daughter even though we were pretty far back already. I've been coming here since I was about 5 years old, and it's still one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants to this day. My family and I would always come here for birthday dinners or stop by on our way back to San Jose from San Francisco. Walking in always feels warm and welcoming with all the Peruvian paintings and decor throughout the restaurant. One of my favorite things is introducing my friends to this place because they always end up loving it too! The food here has always been consistently delicious and never disappoints and the customer service is great as well! I went recently with a friend and we tried the pescado saltado and the pollo a la parrilla. Both were amazing! The saltados overall are amazing! They are perfectly flavored. They came with rice and fries, tomatoes and onions. I liked it a lot! The pollo a la parrilla is generous. The breast is well seasoned and juicy. This came with rice, salad with an aji amarillo sauce and then some fried potatoes. Delish. They always give you some bread, butter and a green sauce (ají verde) as a starter. So yummy. read more

Peruvians will travel for this place- my cousins who live deep in the South Bay wanted to meet here, and I can see why. You can count on the lomo saltado to be delicious. We were laughing when I took the picture of the lomo because where else do you get to have fries, rice AND bread? The lomo was juicy and easy to eat, the onions were on point- not evenly cooked with a bite, and the fries were bomb. The portion is very generous- two can share or you can indulge. For health reasons one cousin chose the chicken, and she was sad because it wasn't as good. The table next to us had the duck and rice, and they reported that it was delicious. The cousins will be getting that next time. That plate looked like it could have fed four girls easily. The staff is very attentive. The owner was there, and he was very friendly to chat with. The old school restaurant interior is decorated with lots of Peruvian things. They have the TV going on along with music, but you can hold a conversation easily. Wanted to try something different for dinner, decided on Peruvian food. Ordered the Loma Saltado, and it did not disappoint. Asked to get my food to go, and was ready in about 10 mins. The steak tender, vegetables cooked perfect and fries a little soggy but mostly likely because I got it to go instead of having it at the restaurant. My fiance ordered this for us on a whim and I'm so glad he did. We ate the churrasco and the green sauce that came with it was perfectly spicy. The meat was tender and the potatoes and salad all complemented each other. We also ordered the alfajores and the flan and both of those were also so delicious. It's been quite a while since I last visited Estampas Peruanas, so I was excited to return. We arrived at around 1ish on Tuesday, and there were plenty of open tables. While we were deciding what to order, we were brought bread, butter, hominy, and their green chili sauce - such a great way to whet the appetite. I was excited that they also had diet Inca cola, which many places do not carry. We ordered the Milanesa con Pollo and the Pescado a lo macho to share. Decent sized portions. Love the milanesa - crispy and flavorful. As for the Pesacdo a lo macho, the snapper was a bit on the small side which was hard to tell as it was covered with all the other seafood. Delicious food, generous portions. I wish the server gave us more guidance on how much to order and how to pace the dishes. Entrees came 5 minutes after the appetizers and it was a bit disruptive to move dishes around to make room for all the plates. I used to come here a long time ago but it has been many years. We came here on a Sunday to get pan con chiccaron and papa a la huancaina. The huancaina was ok. It's usually my favorite. The pan con chiccaron was good though I feel it could have more filling since there is so much bread. The green salsa they give you with bread is very good. I loved it and the pineapple juice was amazing though expensive. The only issue was that the waiter never brought my sauce. We ordered a side of huancaina sauce and I was already have done with my sandwich and still had not got the sauce and he hadn't come to check on us. When we finally got his attention we asked about the sauce and he said he forgot and he went and got it though I didn't need it anymore since we didn't have any food left for it so that was a waste of money. Solid 4 stars for the food and service. We tried this place for the first time on a recommendation and it did not disappoint. We have the ceviche de pescado. SO yummy, I wanted to drink the sauce! And you get A LOT of ceviche for the price. We also had the potatoes with the creamy sauce and they were good. For dinner, we had the loma saltado- was very yummy, the stir fried noodles with shrimp, the shrimp in chili sauce, and the arroz con mariscos. Each dish had a different flavor and each one was yummy. The quantity of food is amazing. The service was very, very good. Super friendly staff. The night we came there was live music. Was looking for a close to my hotel place to grab some dinner, and found Estampas Peruanas looking for another restaurant. Such a nice treat to come across from standard chain establishements usually around hotels in cities. I was greeted promptly and seated within a minute, my host was kind and friendly. The menu is a tooled leather work of art, maybe a bit out of date in a post covid dining world but a beautiful old school traditional feel and authentic style. The menu offers numerous options for fresh seafood and I went with both for my appetizer and entree on my visit and both were really good choices. First, the ceviche - Fresh Ceviche de Pescado, a large portion of delicious sliced fish with corn two ways, sweet potato, boiled potato, along with thinly sliced red onions piled high on top the fresh fish with lime cilantro on a lettuce bed. It was so fresh and delicious, if you like ceviches you will most likely love this dish. Its more than enough to share as well, and the flavor combinations with and between the different corns and potatoes with fish and onions was just amazing For my dinner, the Red Snapper with sauteed red onions and tomatoes, potatoes and rice on the side. This is again a nicely sized portion of fresh red snapper beautifully prepared, with simple ingredients thats full of flavor and stands on its own. A solid choice if you like snapper you will most likely enjoy this dish as much as I did. Along with a traditional beer from the Andes, the Cristal was a perfect compliment to my dinner. The menu has a variety of items including mouth watering seafood dishes with red snapper, muscles, shrimp, clams and so on. The walls are covered with art from Lima and scenes from Peru creating a beautiful unique ambiance. This isn't a fancy, classy restaurant - however it is an authentic Peruvian place. This comes as no surprise to those who have met the amazing Shimabukuro family that operates EP and treats each costumer as an extension as one of their own. I have eaten EP on several occasions, both in restaurant and catered, and I am always enamored with the love that is clearly put into every dish. The traditional Peruvian dish, the ceviche, is always fresh and the perfect reaction between acidity with salt makes this dish worthy of praise. Then there is the dish that has become popular in America, Lomo Saltado. Clearly the family has perfected the marinated steak, onions, peppers, and fry combo. Delicious Chicharron de Pollo and Pan con Chicharron are other great options. Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, whatever dish you try you can't go wrong! Get an Inka Kola while you're there too if you've never had it! I needed eight empanadas and another location was closed and the other was sold out. Since I was close by to Estampas, I called to see if they sold empanadas. They did/do! I ordered and then picked up about 20 minutes later. The restaurant was clean and the two employees greeted me. The chicken empanadas were flavorful and large in size. My 18 month old son enjoyed his! We had some for the dinner the next night, and they warmed up nicely in the air fryer. These empanadas have raisins, so if you're not a fan of that, just be forewarned. I will be back to try out their other food because I do enjoy Peruvian food! read more

Excellent food, wow! I would come back to this establishment if only I didn't have to interact with the woman (who I presume is the owner). I was seated at the end of a table (party of 9) when she came over, exclaiming angrily "Excuse me, excuse me". I turned and noticed that the tip and tray were near (but not under or beside) my hand. She says "I need MY money NOW" and she grabbed the tip and tray. Umm. Totally could have taken that without having to call my attention.
