We can only eat seafood on Good Friday so decided to go to La Ronda. It was another great dining experience. The server is friendly and attentive. The seafood is fresh and delicious. We ordered the ceviche mixto and Sudado De Marisco. The restaurant has a nice casual fine dining feel to it.

Let me start off by saying the food was AMAZING! Everything was SO on point! The steak was done perfectly! It was perfectly medium rare and properly seasoned! The fam LOVED the ceviche! Everyone was so pleased with their dishes! And the drinks were great! The decor was very clean and classy! Service started off pretty decently. They took our orders and brought our waters and kept them pretty full. However, there was a mis-communication regarding the ceviche. We did not realize that they did not come with chips or any kind of vessel to eat them with. It took a little while for the first batch to come out. The amount of chips were not enough for the amount of ceviche. We proceeded to put in another order of chips. This second order took forever. It basically didn't come. We asked 4 different times for the chips! We packed up our leftovers and waited for a bag for our food and the chips come! You see that we packed up our leftovers, WHY would you bring out the plate of chips?! We asked them for another box for the chips. We basically sat around, taking up space, waiting for chips, while the restaurant was hustlin'! It WAS Mother's Day weekend, but not the day itself. They tried to apologize at the end for the delay, but I was like, if were taken care of properly, we would of been gone sooner and you could of flipped the table instead of having people waiting! But the food was great! I'm willing to give this place another shot just off of the chance that it was a fluke! If it wasn't for the service, I would of given them 5 stars!

Delicious Peruvian restaurant in San Mateo with friendly service and generous portions. Many reviews have mentioned the odd location but it's fine with easy parking. The inside is bright and welcoming. We tried a few dishes and enjoyed them all- Yuka Frita-crispy yuka fries served with a creamy yellow sauce but they're delicious dipped in the house jalapeño sauce Papa Rellena-large fried mashed potato ball filled with ground beef, eggs, olives and raisins. Really tasty Los Traviesos-three ways of red snapper ceviche. Very generous portion. Light, refreshing and fresh fish. The sauces were similar and citrusy Arres Con Pollo-this half chicken served with rice and cilantro sauce was really good and I liked that the chicken was defined and very tender Alfajores-delicious melt in your mouth cookies with a luscious caramel filling. Definitely get one for yourself! I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu

Came here with my friends to celebrate my early birthday. Located on a very busy street next to the Shell gas station, there are about five parking spaces for the 3-4 storefronts. Other than that, you'll have to look for parking in the residential areas starting a block away. We got the yucca fries, beef empanadas and ceviche traditional to start. The ceviche was good, as were the yucca fries. The empanada was ok. For entrees (big portions!), we ordered the lomo saltado, the pollo a la parilla and the picante de camarones. The lomo saltado arrived as chicken and we told them we ordered beef. The server came out to question us and pointed out he wrote chicken on his bill, but they replaced it and pretty quickly too. I'm glad we did because for me, that was the best dish of the meal. The three of us agreed the pollo was dry and could have used some kind of condiment/sauce. We were concerned the shrimp would come out too spicy as indicated on the menu, but it was very mild even for me who has a low tolerance. I enjoyed the sauce in that dish over rice! For dessert, we ordered the corn pudding, which is a traditional Peruvian dessert none of us had ever had. Not sure what we expected, but it was like eating fruit jelly straight up. We did not care for this, sorry. We got a complimentary bread pudding for my birthday and that was much better. All in all, a decent meal experience, but given the location and average food, I don't have La Ronda at the top of the list for a revisit.

Great place, odd location. Parking is easy to find and the restaurant is really clean inside. The staff were nice and attentive too. Loved the two dishes we ordered. The La Ronda Plate and picante de Mariscos. Both were delicious and filled with flavor! Large portion sizes and we had a ton of left over. The sangria was good too. I didn't like that the fruits were diced, however the overall flavors were good.

We came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was still bustling with people. The atmosphere was lively and staff were friendly. Anticucho de Corazon - very tender pieces but still with a good bite, lovely grilled smoky flavor, I love to dip it in the green sauce that comes with bread Paella - filled with to the brim with seafood, the rice is not my person favourite, not much flavor Ceviche - we got the three combination, but all three tasted similar? Texture of red snapper is great. Lomo salteada - absolutely love the smoky flavor of the beef, perfect pair with rice

Went to La Ronda for lunch on Tuesday. It was empty when we reached at 12.30 but later several groups came in. They have limited vegetarian options. We got the Papa A La Huancaina (vegetarian) as a starter. This was ok. I got the Tallarin Saltado de Vegetales (vegetarian) which was quite good and flavorful. My husband got the Lomo Saltado with chicken. He didn't like it - the chicken and the fries tasted slightly off. He got the Pisco Sour cocktail and I got the Chicha Morada which were both good. This place is quite expensive so overall not worth the price.

We made last-minute reservations because, as usual, we couldn't decide what to eat. We had driven by this spot many times and always wanted to try it, and we finally found the perfect opportunity to do so. Service was a little slow, but it seemed like everything was being made from scratch--at least I'd like to think so. The food was delicious, and although the prices were steep, the portions were generous. I'd recommend ordering one plate to share along with a few appetizers, so you can sample more from the menu. It's definitely a place that gets packed, so I would say reservations are a must

We went there during weekday lunchtime. Our waiter Saul is very friendly. The restaurant is cozy and nicely decorated. We ordered Ceviche Mixto, Bisteck A Lo Pobre and Chicha Morada. The ceviche is a bit below expectations maybe our expectation were high (after seeing other reviews before we go). The Bisteck was done nicely which was a surprise to us. Chicha Morada was okay. Our overall experience was pretty good. I will consider coming back to try something else.

Came on a Wednesday night with a friend. The interior was beautifully decorated, and the service was excellent. The waitstaff were very attentive and friendly, which made the experience even better. In addition to the outstanding service, the food was absolutely delicious. We ordered a chicken dish, the La Rhonda plate, and the chicha morada. Everything was full of flavor, but I especially enjoyed the La Rhonda plate, as it's a great option if you want to sample a variety of dishes. While both food items were great, the drink really stood out! The chicha morada was incredibly flavorful and not overly sweet. I highly recommend trying it when you visit! Overall it was a great experience and I'll definitely be back to try more dishes!

I was aware of La Ronda Restaurant when they opened early 2023, and boy do I regret not going then because what I thought could be a neighborhood go-to turned into just another expensive generic white cloth Peruvian place. One of the dishes we ordered is $10 more expensive than what it was under two years ago... inflation isn't supposed to be that exponential. Most prices are $5 more. And while I'm okay with paying a premium on good food, I find better value and dishes elsewhere in this area - even at luxe places at Hillsdale. If I didn't think about the price, I think La Ronda is middle of the road based on the other Peruvian places I've eaten at in the bay. We were started off with complimentary cold bread, butter, and a spicy green chili sauce that gives painful tongue tingles. I'm surprised by the amount of people raving about the green sauce as it was REALLY spicy, and I eat a lot of spicy food. There were only two tables dining when we went for an early dinner, and the ambience was very quiet. - Anticucho De Corazon Our first order and my favorite dish, though my father thought the beef heart was too tough. It seemed normal to me - it's a bit chewy but also tastes like well marinated steak portions, except offal style; thoughtfully sweet but more smoky, savory, and well charred, almost like Chinese char siu. It accompanied a flavored boil potato piece, fresh Peruvian corn, and a delicious creamy tangy sauce. - Tamales (pork) It's a single large tamale that comes with fresh shredded onions. I was pleasantly surprised by this rendition, as the masa dough was very flavorful and even orange colored from the spices. You have a choice of pork or chicken, and the pork was oddly pressed together into a brick form. The corn dough was more impressive than the filling. - Churrasco a la Parrilla Bland New York steak requested medium rare, and it was appropriately medium rare, on the rarer side. The fries weren't too crispy, the rice was acceptable, and roast zucchini, squash, and carrots seemed questionably steamed. - La Ronda Marina Overpriced but gives a sample of two ceviches, fried seafood, and arroz con marisco intended to feed two people. The La Ronda Plate would have been a way better deal since it's a slightly smaller version, and you don't need the two ceviches since they tasted the same... as in I was trying to figure out the difference but gave up so combined them. I will say though that the fried cancha (corn nuts) were really good, and the amount of ceviche was generous, but I've had better in the peninsula. The fried seafood part disappointed me because it was overcooked - the calamari was not bouncy, and the mussels were super shrunk into the shell; the fried red snapper was alright at least, as well as the paella style seafood rice. - Pasta Fruto De Mar It's a creamy tomato seafood pasta. The mussels were again poorly cooked so that the meat was ultra stuck to the shell; you can even see it in my photo. It was otherwise good - just a bit creamier and with extra Peruvian spices compared to its Italian counterpart. - Chicha Morada We got half a liter which was enough for four people. It's one of the better ones I've had, as it was nicely sweet and fruity with finely chopped apple or pear - I couldn't tell since they were so tiny. The server also recommended their picante de mariscos to accompany our platter, so if I ever come back, I'll try that. As much as I wanted to like this place since I live ten minutes away, I was underwhelmed by what I ate, especially with the overcooked seafood at a high price point.

Peruvian food is one of my favourite cuisines... Been a fan since when I moved to Florida and found some amazing spots... now. I just gotta take a trip to Peru! lol I'm always on the hunt for Peruvian. I've actually came here within the first month they opened, been here several times since then. I'm happy to say I haven't gotten anything bad or been disappointed! The venue is cozy, yet inviting. I noticed they updated the interior with some new decor on the walls since they opened. Parking is a challenge, not many spaces out in front, nor is there a dedicated parking lot. I usually have to find parking somewhere close and then walk over...so good luck! #PeruvianEats: ~ Complimentary Bread w/ Butter & Sauce - 4.5/5 Fresh Bread & homemade Chimichurri sauce. ~ Chicha Morada - 4/5 Purple Corn Drink. Not too sweet. ~ Leche De Tigre - 4.5/5 So good! Tangy, tasty and mouthwatering flavors...I have no idea how this is made. I'm a big fan. I do wish the serving size was a bit bigger. ~ La Ronda Plate - 5/5 Rejoice seafood lovers. A little bit of everything for you is on the plate; a combination plate of fried Calamari, Fish Ceviche and seafood rice. ~ Bistec À Lo Pobre - 4/5 Peruvian Steak with an egg and Fried Plantains. ~ Aji de Galleana - 4/5 A very good Aji de Gallena. For some reason this is still a secret menu item, it's NOT listed on the menu. You have to ask the staff for it, and sometimes they run out. ~ Yuca Frita - 4/5 Your standard fried Yuca Fries. ~ Jalea Mixta - 4/5 Great way to sample all the fried seafood here. A little bit of everything, fish, Calamari, Tiger prawn. Perfectly fired, not too oily or soggy. ~ Maracuya - 4/5 Passion fruit Juice. Not too sweet. There was actual Passion Fruit pulp on the bottom! I'm already a regular here... and it will probably stay that way.

We ordered the ceviche ($21), papas bravas ($11), kale salad ($17), salmon ($35), and seafood pasta ($34). The ceviche was fresh and I really liked the citrusy notes (it was quite tropical and I thought it was possibly passionfruit?). The papas bravas was a decent sized serving and came with an addictive sauce. The kale salad came with a piece of fried feta and the only fault I found with it... was that I wanted more fried feta bits! Salmon was cooked well, and I liked the accompanying veggies - seemed like a very healthy Mediterranean dish. The seafood pasta was also very good. Husband said the fish in his dish was cooked even better than mine. Lastly, they offered us a whole complimentary dessert. We were already beyond stuffed at that point, but who are we to turn down a coconut creme brulee? Another review said they couldn't taste the coconut, but it's definitely there. Bahche is one of the rare exceptions. It has good ambiance, located in a nice area and has good service. We ordered several dishes and everything was very well made -- flavourful, decent serving size and yummy. None of the dishes we ordered were too greasy either. The octopus starter and the lamb chops stood out to me. The only negative I felt were the prices. We landed up spending about $250 for three. That's what one would pay for an upscale steak house with great service -- Bahche was not that good. That's why I reduced the number of stars by 1.

I think there were communication issues. there was some mix up with the tables and throughout the night after that our orders kept getting mixed up with not just one but two other tables. So we would see our food from afar being held in front of a group of servers where they would have a conversation over our plates of food for a few minutes then go to other tables, and try to give it to other tables before it finally got to us. The staff explained there was a mixup and due to that all the orders continued getting mixed up during our meal, but there was no acknowledgment otherwise or an attempt to make things right. I think because the group tip is already mandatory, there was no incentive on their end, perhaps. The bus staff are pretty available and responsive but limited in what they were allowed to assist with and the server was hard to flag down. Anyway onto the food. The clams linguine was flavorful. The crab Alfredo pasta had a lot of crab which was a pleasant surprise but a little lacking in flavor and a little on the sweet side with cream and crab notes. Cioppino was better than expected. Oysters were good and an okay price. Key lime pie was decent. I think 3.5-4 stars for the food (probably 4 at the happy hour rates!), 2 for service. Ambiance is a bit weird. Like somewhat upscale with some decor and high ceilings but not in others. Worthwhile to return for happy hour and may update review then!

I am not sure how to rate the food. The selection of seafood that you can pick was nice. Clams, mussels, shrimp and crawfish were the seafood picks you can do. Potatoes, sausage, corn were the free add on that you can do. I do not eat crawfish, which was also a seafood pick, so I can't review that. Everything was good. The shrimp was hit and miss, depending on the piece. They were peel and eat, but some shrimps were mushy meaning those shrimps were old. It was tolerable. Nothing that I haven't had before. I'll let it go for the price point they offer. The clam and mussels were good. As expected. The sausage, corn and potatoes were good as well. The place was pretty legit. The fried shrimp and fried chicken wings were amazing! Freshly fried, they were juicy and steaming on the inside, and crispy on the outside. Although the place was dead (it was a Wednesday after all), we did see a lot of people come in and pick up food to-go. Not sure if they were customers or drivers picking up for Doordash/Uber Eats. The place is popular even on the Monday evening of our visit. We had: sea scallops, tuna sashimi, whole roasted Dorade, toasted bread pudding and espresso. I was impressed with the way these items all had their unique flavors and presentation without competing with the other items. Every course was a pleasant surprise. The restaurant has multiple rooms, each with a different flare, and a heated outdoor patio. We sat in the outside patio. When the sun started to go down they turned on the heaters. The patio can be closed with outdoor commercial tent material and clear windows when necessary. When you want great tapas give them a try.

My review is overdue and that makes me sad because this place is ah-MAH-zing! The wall o' jellyfish makes me think of Waterbar in SF. I could literally watch those little guys all day (or night?). So cool! They also have a lot of whimsical sea themed decor which I quite enjoyed. So ambiance = excellent day or night. Food: unsurprisingly, the food was spectacular. Fresh shucked (like shucked when you order) scallops that were melt in your mouth delicious. Paired with the milk, bread, divine! Apparently, the milk bread is Steph and Ayesha Curry's fav, so do with that what you will. And oh my, cannot forget the onion rings with Wagyu beef fat powder! What a treat. For my main, I did the short ribs with kimchi fried rice, a substitution recommended by MeeSun. Delightful. The perfectly cooked meat, the salty, rich and savory flavors - I was in heaven! One of our party got the whole roasted Dorade, which MeeSun deboned for him tableside. Exquisite experience - chef's kiss! Good sized portions as well, we were all very full after that food. Honorable mention to the cocktails and gold star for the wine list, which feature many from the local regions. The manager recommended a wine to us from DuMOL (winery in Windsor) and we all loved it. Planning a trip out to the winery soon... Service: this was the stand out for us. From the moment we came in, we were made to feel so very special. Warmly welcomed and whisked to our table right away. Our server took drink orders promptly and brought things out quickly. We were never waiting to long nor did we feel rushed. Plus, MeeSun came to walk us through the menu, explaining items of interest in great detail and offering recommendations for each section. I thought she might have confused us for celebrities, but in talking to my brother in law who'd frequented this establishment a few weeks before, this is a service they provide to everyone. I LOVE a personal touch, and Hurrica and their staff went above and beyond in their department. It was my friend's birthday and they brought out a card for her signed by the staff! Wow! Cannot say enough good stuff Honda about Hurrica, and can't wait to come back for the food AND the experience!

We prebooked the set menu. Boy was it a dining experience! From start to finish, every single dish was so deliciously curated. The waitstaff was also extremely friendly and did such a great job explaining all the intricacies of each dish. By the end of our meal, our tummies were full and the entire journey from appetizer to dessert was so satisfying. 808 Zone is truly a place that we will plan to revisit for our next special occasion.

The ambiance is a bit similar to a fast casual restaurant than that of a high end course meal and the service aligns with that. Bathrooms are in a bit of a sorry state and chairs are peeling at the edges. Service is a bit clumsy and rushed. No one asks for any food restrictions before the meal and it isn't asked when reservations are being made, so you'll have to actively speak up if you need this addressed. Dishes are only fully explained at the bar, if you sit at the standard tables you'll get a very basic dish explanation. The food is mostly Chinese Japanese fusion and some dishes knock it out of the park, like the chawanmushi which is fused with flavors of Chinese egg drop soup. Some really drop the ball, like the scallion noodles which were soggy and overly greasy, the oil was not properly infused with the green onion and so you just got mushy soggy plain oil flavored noodles. The course lacked consistency. Some dishes were incredible, some average, and some downright bad. There's a lack of consistency in the prep also, there were crab shells in the orange crab dish, there was a bad bitter uni in one of the chawanmushi, etc. I think the ambiance, service, and course doesn't add up to the $150 price tag. There's definitely potential but the lack of effort does affect the overall experience.
