I had a reservation for three people at 4:45 PM, and upon arrival, the hostess was in the process of offering us a nice table. However, a staff member named Viri intervened and insisted we be seated at a different table. When I requested a different location, I was told it was unavailable due to other reservations. As someone who works in the restaurant industry, I am familiar with how reservation systems function; I noted that the restaurant remained largely empty during our visit. At one point, we were even asked to vacate a table we had sat down at before eventually being placed near the hostess station. I am bringing this to your attention because I felt our treatment was inconsistent with standard hospitality. Just WOW! This experience at Limón was so unforgettable. When you first walk in, you immediately get hit with awesome vibes. The restaurant was very pretty, with a sleek and floral theme. Also, I noticed some herby smell which was pleasant so extra hats off to that detail. I placed a reservation of 5 at 7:45 pm on a Friday night with me and my family, and we had no issues getting to our table. We were a bit late, however staff made sure that we get seated in no time. Once we got sat down, we got our menus and took some time to decide what to order. Our amazing friend and waitress Elizabeth made sure to give us time to thoroughly look through the menu and decide on what we were going to eat. She was very friendly and caring, and was so excited to take our order, which elevated her experience. Her suggestions were perfect for our family. We ordered the Mixto Clásico ceviche, 2 orders of truffle mac and cheese, Arroz Con Mariscos, Pollo A La Brasa (Half chicken), Beef Anticuchero Roll, and Lengua a La Parilla. In five minutes, the staff already brought the ceviche, which included calamari, fish, veggies, and the taro chips. It was refreshing and citrusy. After we finished that , then another 3 minutes goes by, and everything arrived. I was so shocked on how fast they serve especially because of how busy they were. All the dishes were so fresh and cooked to perfection. The mac was so creamy, cheesy, and delectable especially because of the truffles. The pollo a la brasa was cooked nice and tender, served with fries, and that yellow sauce was addicting, literally ON CRACK. The lengua was great, the mashed potatoes along with the lengua, shrimp, and spicy sauce gave it texture and flavor. The nikkei beef antichchuero roll I was surprised with. Sushi in a Peruvian restaurant? However, I did not expect to be one of the best and interesting rolls I have tried ever. The arroz con mariscos was my favorite by far. It really reminds me of a Spanish paella, with a seafood galore presented with a bed of rice and veggies. It was very filling and delicious. Of course, we couldn't just end there, we obviously had to go for dessert. We chose the Tres Leches cake, and it was presented with chocolate, caramel, and strawberry sauce which was sweet and smooth. Paired with the cake, it was so good and a genius combination. In the end, when leaving, our staff asked us if we needed any extra help with anything before we left, which was a very kind gesture. When we left, the staff kindly greeted us a warm goodbye, and thanked Elizabeth especially for helping us order these great assortments of dishes. In the end, we left with our stomachs full of food and great memories. There are only a few moments in life where you celebrate a big event at a restaurant, and I wanted mine to be special. Having grown up in Mountain View, I chose Limón to ask my bridesmaids to be part of my wedding. I called on August 2 to confirm my reservation and explained the situation to the woman I spoke with, letting her know everything needed to be set up by 7 PM. The week of August 9, I called again a couple more times and spoke with Limon to confirm the reservation, moving the time up to 6:45 so I'd have room to set up boxes on the table beforehand. When I arrived, none of that had been done my table wasn't set up. The host smirked when I explained the situation, and the manager told me I was late, even though I'd been waiting in a line at the host stand the whole time. That was genuinely disappointing, especially since I've eaten at Limón several times before and the service was never anything like this. Our server, Michael, was great but the restaurant itself never made an effort to fix things. We asked three separate times for the mac & cheese to be brought out, and it kept arriving late. On top of that, the manager kept making comments guessing who the maid of honor was and assuming my nephew was the ring bearer and my niece the flower girl. If you're celebrating something special, I wouldn't recommend celebrating it here, it will get overshadowed. We had a reservation at 6:30 on a tuesday night and we werent seated until 7:20pm after we asked the staff multiple times about our table. Their apology was to compensate us one dessert (for our party of 6) which felt a little underwhelming given that we were there for my mom's birthday anyways and most restaurants will offer some sort of free dessert for birthdays anyways. For everyone's birthday, staff will come over and sing though which is nice For the actual food, its good but as many reviews point out, some of the food is heavy on the salt so if you're sensitive, ask for less salt when you order. The ambiance at Limón was quite lively and the decor of the restaurant is nice and colorful, with some vivid, modern touches. The menu has several options for appetizers, entrees, and desserts. My friend and I opted to share a few small plates, and we still had trouble finishing the items we ordered. We got a shrimp appetizer with taro chips, plantains, and fried chicken with french fries dish. Each dish was made well, my friend and I both enjoyed the shrimp appetizer and taro chips. The fried chicken was a bit dry, but the fries were tasty and drizzled with a flavorful sauce and parmesan cheese. I was curious about trying dessert, but we were too full and decided to skip it. They also have an extensive drink menu, with a good selection of cocktails, mocktails, and other beverages. Service was alright but could be improved. The spot where they seated us seemed to be easily overlooked, so that could be another reason for the mediocre service. While I was able to check in with the host and get seated soon after, it took a while for anyone to fill our water and take our orders. However, customer service was more attentive towards the second half of our meal. The staff checked in consistently and filled up our waters on a few occasions. We started with the fried cauliflower... they had a nice crunchy shell and the cauliflower was not mushy. My boy friend had the roast chicken and he thought was very good. Very flavorful and tender. In the search for a local restaurant with paella, Limón came up as a possibility. A well-regarded Peruvian restaurant that I had not yet been to. There were a dozen people waiting outside to be seated. Indoors by the hostess stand, there was a line formed to check in. It was packed and loud. We requested an outdoor patio table. The waitress was friendly but it was difficult to get her attention at times because there were a lot of expectant tables. Even with a reservation, it took about 20 minutes before we were seated. The patio outside was a bit chilly with a cool breeze flowing down Castro as the evening began to set. The heat lamp wasn't doing much. In looking through the menu, the paella was called Arroz Con Mariscos, literally "rice with seafood". We also ordered the Lengua, three sauced strips of tender beef tongue draped over a bed of puréed potato. It was bursting with flavor and I savored each bite. I tried the Lychee Sour and the Bomba Del Amor, a sweet tropical vodka cocktail. The paella was top notch, crunchy pan roasted rice simmered with reduced broth served with prawns and clams in half shells. The Mixto Clásico Ceviche didn't leave much of an impression on me, to be honest. I could have done without it. I would like to come back to try dishes that are more traditional Peruvian, such as Lomo Soltado and Empanadas. One of the best ceviches I've ever had. I like really citrusy/limey ceviche and this was exactly that. We got the trio ganador (basically 3 types of ceviche) but we got the mixed version which added shrimp and squid for a total of $44 but honestly -- I would just get the fish only. The fish they used is red snapper and it was so fresh, so citrusy. My only complaint is that the chunks of fish are very large so I ended up cutting them into smaller chunks and then chucking the fish back into the bowls. -Lomo Saltado $34 (3.5/5) it tasted more like salt if anything. The beef was a little tough. The fries were cooked nicely though. Despite all of that, I wouldn't get this again because of the toughness of the beef. -Flat Iron Steak $34 (5/5) so good. Definitely would get this again especially with the mashed sweet potato and charred onion bulb on top. The chimichurri sauce was so fragrant and seasoned well. Especially for the price-- would get this over lomo saltado forsure. The steak was seasoned well and tender. Went to Limon for the first time last week and was quite impressed by both the aesthetic and the food. We made a reservation for three on Memorial Day, and although it was very busy, we were seated quickly. The interior was gorgeous, it was the perfect balance of elegant and inviting. I would honestly come back just to sit at the bar. We started with drinks, and I tried a passion fruit pisco sour for the first time. It definitely packed a punch and was tart in the best way. We skipped the appetizers and went straight to our entrées. For my main course, I ordered the pollo saltado. The chicken was flavorful, and the soy sauce was very present without being overpowering. The only downside was that the fries weren't as crispy as I would have liked. If they had been, they would have added a much-needed contrast in texture. Overall, I'd give it a solid 7/10. I'm officially hooked! Me and wife keep coming back ever since my sister kept talking about it. I've been knowing about Limon in SF for years but never tried it. I officially came last month and for Mother's Day last weekend and it was great. I love starting with the Pescado Clasico which is fresh red snapper in this milky broth. It's citrusy as well which provides more flavor. The Jalea is also a great starter: freshly fried shrimp, calamari, white fish, and yuca fries, served with their yuzu lemon aioli dipping sauce. This is a pretty big appetizer that is worth it. Just an FYI, they aren't stingy with their portions. They put a generous amount of seafood. For the main entrees, I really like the Arroz con mariscos which is basically their paella version. There is a nice amount of seafood which is a plus. The crispy pork belly chaufa is a fantastic choice and is my favorite pork belly/bacon fried rice. It's their house made fried rice with a generous amount of fried bacon bite and 4 slices of thick fried pork belly with sweet ginger infused oyster sauce. My wife really likes their flat iron steak served with creamy Yukon mashed potatoes. This entree is soo good. Overall, the food here is great! I've never had Peruvian food before!! Since my boyfriend's from New York, he's used to having different Latin foods besides Mexican, but apparently here in California we only have Mexican food?! The tangy sauce goes so well with the ceviche, and the taro chips as an add-on is delicious too. The Lomo Saltado is a must-get. The beef is very tender, and goes very well with the onions and the sauce. The Arroz Con Mariscos is also very good - there's a lot of seafood to go with the rice. This upscale Peruvian restaurant was a perfect choice for Father's Day. We were looking for something fresh and flavorful, and Limon had the perfect selection of fresh seafood and flavor. We ordered the Ceviche Limon, Jalea, Pescado Entero, Arroz con Mariscos, and the beef tongue. The ceviche was a good selection of appetizers coming with white fish ceviche, scallops with light onion pico de Gallo, and some fried calamari. The calamari that came with this dish was similar to the fried seafood selection of the Jalea. So I wouldn't order both. The Jalea came with some nice fried yuca fries though. The whole fried fish was a red snapper that came with a beautiful presentation. The fish had a light batter, and was really flaky and tender. They cooked it really well! And it came with a light tomato sauce. My mom ordered the beef tongue, and though it only came with 3 smaller slices, it was extremely tender and had a caramelized grilled flavor. The Arroz con Mariscos had nice al dente rice with a good amount of seafood. Unfortunately one of my shrimps was raw, so I had to send that piece back for them to cook. The dish had calamari, fish, Shrimp, squid, Conchita a la chalaca. It is a medley of items tou should definitely try! - Arroz con Mariscos a little heavy for lunch but I was dying to try this. A lil on the salty side but it was still good. Rice cooked perfectly, seafood wasn't overdone at all. If you look around there's a reason why its on every table! - Pollo a la Brasa or rotisserie chicken marinated in spices & herbs. I had a bite and it was moist and had lots of flavor. Got the half chicken and we were all able to share. - Pisco Sour loved this drink. They make piscos the rightcway fot sure - Smoked Old Fashioned smelled amazing as bellows of smoke dissipated into the air. They are also decently strong and they complement the food so well. I'm not a huge drinker but I will definitely be trying new drinks when I come here next time lol. Since we had eaten a while before we decide to share two entrees for our dinner experience. We ordered the Lomo Saltado and the Anticuchos de Pollo. OMG AMAZING! LOVE THEM BOTH. Seriously these dishes are packed with so much flavor and are absolutely DELICIOUS. We were both very impressed and this is easily our FAVORITE restaurant hands down. Went to Limón in Mountain View with a friend and had a really good experience. We were seated outside at first, but it was freezing that night. Even though we didn't have reservations, the staff still tried their best to move us inside and were super nice about it, which we really appreciated. My friend got the flat iron steak and I ordered the exotica roll. We also shared the scallops, which came out with a cool dry ice presentation in the middle. Definitely a fun touch and the dish itself was really good too. The drinks were also really solid. I got the El Pasión margarita and would honestly order it again. A friend made lunch reservations here, and we had a very nice meal. The servers were friendly and checked in during our meal. The interior has clean and modern vibe, and a nice touch is that they bring a coat rack to your table for your bag and jacket. The only issue is with the seating, as the 2 person tables are way too close to each other. We had the Ceviche Limon, and the ceviche was well prepared, perfectly acidic/citrusy, but it would be good if they didn't soak the crispy calamari in the leche de tigre. The bowl of taro chips at $4 was a bit unusual because most restaurants include the chips with the dish, particularly when the dish is $30. The Lomo Saltado definitely lived up to all of the positive reviews. It's was wonderfully seasoned and the beef was a nice, tender and juicy medium. I went here for a date night with my Fiance and we were pleasantly surprised by the incredible food that we got! This is definitely a restau on the pricey side but you get what you pay for. The food is meticulously prepared to create gorgeous plates with every bit as much flavor as color. The menu has a large variety of food and drinks and we were very happy with it. The service is extremely friendly and gave the impression of a family run business where you are constantly checked on and you get everything you need quickly. So delicious! I'm so glad we chose Limón to have lunch! If you are familiar with this area Mountain View you know there are LOTS of options! We sat at the bar and were immediately welcomed by the bartender. The hostess checked in on us as well, everyone was very attentive and the restaurant is beautiful! Love the inside decorations - thought the plants on the ceiling were real at first. Sat at a table off to the side (not one of the booths) but it was still pretty comfortable. Starting off with drinks: I got the passion fruit sour since they're known for their pisco sour and variations on it. I really liked it, it wasn't too sweet and had a lot of froth from the egg whites. Someone with me ordered the chicha morada sour, but it turned out to be very sweet and not sour at all; worth noting as she doesn't like sweet cocktails. The staff were very accommodating about it; she ordered just a classic pisco sour and they comped it without us asking. We got the fried plantains and the chicharrones; they were good but not notably so. Fairly standard compared to other places where I've eaten similar items. However the chicken empanadas were incredible, maybe one of the best empanadas I've ever had. They are packed full of filling with not too much dough. The filling itself is moist - it's good and not dry at all even without the sauce it comes with. Finished off with the chocolate bandido, a lava cake. It was a nice gooey texture and good level of sweetness but I would have liked it a bit warmer. Overall a great place for a nicer dinner or a special occasion. read more

My family decided to eat at Limón for our Christmas Eve dinner. We had a 6pm reservation and was seated immediately upon arrival. Service continued to be good throughout the night. We immediately noticed the amazing ambiance of the restaurant - spacious and open with perfectly dimmed lighting. The music was never too loud and the overall noise level is just right for conversation. We ordered the following: - Ceviche limon (5/5): great assortment of seafood and so much flavor - this was our favorite dish! - Lomo saltado (3.5/5): good flavor but the beef tenderloin was very well-done, which caused the meat to be a bit tough / chewy. - Arroz con mariscos (4/5): seafood was cooked perfectly and the rice wasn't too wet / soggy - Lengua (4/5): the beef tongue was very tender! - Pulpo (3/5): slightly overcooked and lacked flavor. - Brussel sprouts (4/5): solid brussel sprouts dish - perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. At their prices I would expect something special, but it was quite underwhelming Lomo saltado: 2/5 this just didnt measure up to the other lomo Saltados I've had. Meat didn't feel good quality and was overcooked, and well for 36$ im expecting some wow factor. Lengua: 3.5/5 beef tongue was tender. Again no wow factor but the sauces were nice and the beef tongue was tender. Outdoor seating was pretty nice. read more
