I went here for a pedicure this past weekend and unfortunately I left highly disappointed! The pedicure was very rushed and ended abruptly. The nail tech that serviced me showed zero interest in whether or not I enjoyed my experience. Her energy was very nonchalant. I asked her if the water bowl had bubbles and she dryly replied "no". I mean even the most BASIC nail salon has a bubble jet system in the water bowl SMH. I let my toes dry a good 25 minutes and my big toes still got smudged. A salon in an area like UES should provide way better service. I will not return nor recommend. Do better! read more

Love this place! Walked right in and was immediately able to get gel extensions. I love my nails and the design did not cost too much extra. The extensions themselves feel very secure and not too bulky, and the process took around 80 minutes, since I had extensions already on that had to be removed. Thank you! read more

I have tried many of the Upper East Side salons for my UV Gel manicures. Finding Amanda was a gift. She is highly qualified and totally professional. Had quite the poor experience here. I'm not one to really leave reviews but since I read them so often, I wanted to share my experience with this salon. Long-ish story time... I didn't plan to come here, but the place that I did plan on didn't do acrylic, and I planned on getting a regular full set of acrylics. I passed by this salon on my way to get lunch so I decided to go in. I told the lady that greeted me that I wanted just a full set of acrylics. She seemed to not understand me, she asked, "extensions?" I said tips, with the liquid acrylic over it. She said "ok extensions with gel." I assumed we were on the same page, that she was doing acrylics with gel polish. But she sat me down and immediately started doing just glue-on nails. After 3 fingers, I said that I don't think this is what I was wanting. The lady doing the girls nails next to me chimed in, and said that acrylics were $120, extensions were $88. I told her that was fine, I wanted acrylics. She proceeded to tell me that most people call them acrylics and that's not what they want. So, they assumed I didn't know what I was asking for? The lady that sat me down wrapped them to soak the extensions off and I sat there for about 10 minutes. Then, the lady that had chimed in finished her client's nails, and then came over to do mine. She started on my other hand and put on the tips for acrylics, then *aggressively* removed and filed off the extensions I didn't ask for. Then I showed her a reference photo for the shape and length, but she cut them shorter than I asked for. When I told her they were shorter than what I wanted, she told me they weren't. That they were actually even longer than my photo. I told her, "I think I'm just gonna go now, because for $120 to not get the length I want is a lot." She said to me that I could ask anyone in here and they would say they're longer. Then I apologized, thanked her for her time, and got up to leave. She cut the tips off my nails, which, fine, but she did it very aggressively and cut my own nails underneath them, leaving 2 to bleed. I walked out the salon crying out of frustration and disappointment. TLDR; assumed I didn't know what I was asking for, then were vey rude to me and aggressive on my nails and fingers. read more

I do not usually post reviews, even if I don't love my nails, but I genuinely think my nail tech just completely rushed through the process. it was almost like it was her first time doing powder nails (which no hate if it was) but she cut me several times, including once under the nail which made me bleed resulting in me having to ask for a Qtip to clean up the blood, and she left powder residue all over my fingers and under my nails (see attached). as I said I am not usually one to complain, but as a paying customer I just wished for better service. while I don't think they necessarily look bad, im just really uncomfortable with the residue under my nails and the cuts I received during the process. I have gotten my nails done cheaper at other places that put in more effort. just lack of care for a paying customer unfortunately. read more

I have been going to this salon for a year and have always had a positive experience until today. My manicure was done by an older woman who absolutely butchered my nails! I'm not sure how this establishment lets her do nails. Everyone else here I've had my nails done with has done an outstanding job. I went in for a basic gel manicure and left with unevenly filed nails (which I asked the woman to fix after she first filed, and yet they still came out horrendous), and gel polish that looks like it was put on by a kindergartener. The back and hand massages I was given at the end of the manicure were anything but relaxing, try having someone pinch and pull your neck and back, and then be smacked on the back several times. I went to this establishment because it's close by and the ambiance looked beautiful from the outside. I asked for a manicure and pedicure. I must say it was the worst and quickest that I have ever gotten. They lack customer service skills as well a communication skills. The young lady was quite rude and impatient. I was not happy with my 10 minute rushed pedicure and i could see my toenails after the one coat of polish. They advertise as a Spa but don't go there expecting Spa treatment. Highly highly highly recommend this place. There are so many places in New York and often times it's so hard to find your it stop! This place not only has a refreshing spa like vibe but also has amazing technicians who are kind and very attentive. Amanda has been my favorite person at the store. She's friendly and welcoming. She's extremely hardworking and pays a lot of attention to details. She has stayed past closing time to finish my nails beautifully as opposed to places where you're rushed out. Honestly, the worst pedicure I have ever had and almost as bad was the service. I tried once before and had the same experience but foolishly decided to give them another chance. I had to have my pedicure redone. Drying machines don't work adequately, massages on legs during pedicure and then while drying is literally 10 seconds each on top of professional technical abilities and attitude and attention to customer being very poor. Horrible!!! I would not recommend this place I went for gel manicure and regular pedicure. I was also sold a massage. I was the only person in the spa, they took at most care for sanitation. I've been here a few times despite the high prices because it's convenient relative to where I live. Today during my manicure I received a near first degree burn from the plastic gloves with lotion that are kept in the towel warmer. They scorched when put on and I needed them to be removed immediately. 2 hours later and my fingers still sting. Despite this being an honest mistake I was disappointed with how the nail technician handled the situation. She showed minimal concern for my well being and it took me asking and insisting 4 times before she brought over a cold towel that I could rest my hand on while she finished my manicure. I was not offered any type of compensation for this incident and my technician more or less acted like nothing happened. Very disappointed by the whole thing. read more

Almost every manicure I've received at Estelle's has been very good. However I don't love the establishment and go for the convenient location. They are very inconsistent. Sometimes they place a wonderful moisturizing glove on during the manicure-sometimes near the end -sometimes never. Most times one receives the quick massage after sitting at dryer-occasionally not. This salon ruined my actual finger nails by grounding down the nail bed after soaking them in 100% acetone for over 20 minutes. Every single nail is broken and cracked, thinner than paper as a result of an overly aggressive use of the electric nail drill. I have never written a yelp review before but this experience has prompted me to. This is the most expensive nail salon I have ever been to for the worst service and results I have ever seen. I spent 3 hours here on removal and dip powder. The removal itself took 1 whole hour. I asked for coffin and they gave me damn near almond shape. I then paid and was chased down the street in the freezing cold as the lady claimed I did not pay. I ended up paying almost $300 to random VENMO accounts. I have been going to this salon since they opened I have always had a positive experience within the last few months they have increased their prices substantially I went there today for a Mani Pedi and when I went to leave the cash tip the technician was extremely upset pointing to the receipt saying I should have left more I believe this was unconscionable behavior she then proceeded to finish my nails hurriedly and quite sloppy might I add. This has been my go-to nail salon for almost 3 years, but the past several visits have been disappointing. I get SNS Powder manicures, and they typically have lasted me about 2-3 weeks before they start to show signs of wear. However, my past several powder manicures have cracked and chipped within days of getting them done. While the salon does offer free repairs within 7 days, I got them fixed on the 4th day only to have to return the 5th day again for more repairs. By day 7, today, half of my nails are broken again, including the ones I just got fixed. I'm not sure what is causing this, perhaps an application issue? The women who work here are genuinely very sweet, but for a nearly $80 manicure (post-tip), I am frustrated with the lack of quality and will be trying new locations.
