This was a great investment and a fun adventure but a couple things you should know before you book: -The people who run the shop where you sign your waiver don't monitor the trails. The trail guides you meet when you arrive at your final location are more knowledgeable -Their public bathroom in EP is disgusting. Be sure to take care of biological needs before you get there -Make sure you get a helmet that doesn't move at all when you shake your head unless you want a headache -You have to drive roughly 30 minutes to the mountain where you meet your guide and get the ATV -If it's winter, be sure you're driving a vehicle that can make it back to the ATV spot. It's a bit tucked away and I was glad to have my AWD SUV. If we were driving a low-profile car, I'm not certain we would have been able to get back there -Dress for the weather/experience. The guide requests to keep 20 mph or under and the wind is going to hit your face and hands. If it's snowy/muddy make sure you're wearing boots because the snow is deep when you get off in places The trails themselves were super fun. However, when we were there in early February, all the trails weren't open. That's perfectly reasonable from a safety aspect but something to keep in mind when you book times. We were had done every available trail multiple times by the end of our two hours. (Two people). The guides mentioned you can get off the ATV and walk around and/or do some light hiking. However, there were quite a lot of people enjoying target practice so we did not do any exploring or go to far off-trail. All of the marksmen/women were safe and responsible but I wouldn't advise hiking around in case they can't see you. We had a really amazing time and the drive to and from the mountain is beautiful. Go when it rains... the mud is what makes it more fun. There are some steep doozies so do the easy paths first. Pay attention to the markers you are not suppose to pass (private property) and hidden ones before the gate. People are helpful. Take a map or 2. Covid notice: only the driver is allowed back into building at a set time for instructions. There is social distancing and masks required in building when renting. Helmets are disinfected. This was highlight of our trip! I went to visit my husband working out here and he booked ATV last week 9/4. It was my husbands first time 4 wheelin, not mine but this experience here for me, was unlike anything I've ever experienced before. Beautiful scene, breathtaking experience.Highly recommend doing, do not pass this experience up!! This is an experience no matter age, anyone will enjoy. Loved the different options of trails based on own driving experience and the fact that my husband and I got to be alone and go out and experience this together. We did the Switzerland trails. We were able to just stop and enjoy the view where we wanted to (hence the photo). We are definitely doing this again in Fall if I go back to experience in snow! That's going to be beautiful. Do it!!!! UPDATED 9/15/21: I have to provide my husbands input because it just doesn't sit well if I don't mention and I did agree with him. As a customer you are in charge of driving the pick up truck that has the four wheeler in trailer that you'll pull yourself to site of your choice. That was a shocker.First through, we got to the check in site about 730 a 8am and got the prep talk of dos and don'ts and helmets. FROM THERE you drive about 45 minutes to the second check in place where you get ATV and you need to make sure that you have good service and when you do have service you type in the coordinates that they do provide because you will get lost like we did. After that second prep talk which is about 25 to 30 minutes everyone then gets in their own pick up truck to head out to the trail of their choice that takes a few minutes then you drive to whatever trail you want that can take up to 30 minutes then you have to unload the four wheeler which takes some more time we finally got on the four wheeler and on the trail at about 10 am. So we did spend quite some time driving and listening to the lectures but of course this is all for the safety of ourselves and everyone else it was very time consuming so do be prepared for that. We did get lost when we went to the Switzerland trail but thankfully I had to save the coordinates on my phone. My husband did not like the maps that were given to us and the first check in the guy was upset because he said a few people were late and was talking very fast my husband wasn't too happy about that because he said he felt like he was being rushed and we all were because of the late people and the new crowd that was waiting to get in, that's it. read more

I am completely dumbfounded by the owner's response to one of my family member's reviews (on Google). If you've ever worked in customer service or retail, you know that you shouldn't say things to put customers down. Period. First of all, my car got a huge door ding while we were there. The owner stated that it's not their fault that we were late, but we were not late. In fact, we were the first of the group to arrive at the trailhead. Yet, we WERE the last to receive our rentals. This was not our fault. If anything, this was Estes Park ATV Rentals fault. This was not an issue with any of us until someone from this company mentioned that we were late, but we WERE NOT late. My family member mentioned the GPS that the website mentions. The owner's response was that the GPS units are still in China due to COVID, which is a valid point. If they are in fact still in China, the owner needs to REMOVE this promise from their website until these GPS units are installed in the vehicles. Attacking my family member about the use of a map is also not okay. All adult parties in our family are highly educated (Doctorate's, Master's, and Bachelor's degrees). One of the adults in our party uses maps on a daily basis to route truck drivers to various destinations throughout the country. The adults all know how to use maps, and it was completely wrong for the owner to attack us about the use of maps. The trails are poorly marked (which is not Estes Park ATV Rentals fault, but makes it difficult to follow the map; hence why it was difficult to find certain trailheads). I also don't appreciate a personal attack giving my family member 0 stars as a customer. As a customer service provider, your job is to make your customers happy, not to bash them. We are planning to return to Estes Park in the near future and will not return to Estes Park ATV Rentals. We will book through Backbone. They were very friendly when we talked with them and I have heard nothing but great things. The fact of the matter is, we were supposed to have a great time and it was a big letdown. The Kawasaki Mule that we were provided (even though we were supposed to receive a Ranger) struggled with even the easy terrain. We were fully anticipating that the 6-seater Ranger would not keep up with the 4-seater RZRs and were accommodating that, but the Mule that we received was in no way comparable with a Ranger (we have used Rangers and Mules in the past and understand the difference between the two). The passengers had to evacuate the Mule at times so they could get around certain turns on the easy trail. I expect that the owner of Estes Park ATV will not badmouth me on my review, as I have not said anything negative directly about him/her, only about our negative experience. If he/she does badmouth me, that is reflective of their business practices, and customers should know what they may have to deal with. read more

THE BEST TIME!!! The company was organized and timely and we were provided detailed instructions at the office and then went on our way to the destination to get the ATV's. We were on a Mom/Sons adventure trip and this excursion was by far the best! We laughed and and made great memories being together and would absolutely recommend this company and adventure for families, friends and even co-workers... would be great for team building. Mike, Steven, Justin and Matt were at the location where we took the ATV's and they were all very professional, friendly and reviewed instructions with us again and made sure that our safety harnesses were on correctly and they were they awaiting our return and wanted to hear all about our adventures! Pay, get your helmet, and then drive 25 minutes to the trails. 2) Asides from the aggressive personality of the owner described in several other reviews, he will also crack jokes about the oldest person in the group. Expect something like "the school was built in the 1800's. (Pointing to oldest person) you should remember that sir". Not cool. Not funny. And I just revealed the punchline to your best joke, so you can retire it now. 3) After you pay, the owner proposes a verbal addendum: "Bring the helmets all the way back downtown after the rental OR tip my employees to do it for you". I declined both options, and ended up getting into an argument with the owner. Asked for a refund and was rejected. 4) After your rental, the staff at the trails will ask a favor "can you bring the helmet back in town for me?" Not my job. Again, no thanks. 5) The trails are legit treacherous, albeit fun. Anyone driving safely could damage the ATV just due to the roughness of the terrain. When this happens, the company contract requires that you pay for all repairs. It was a miracle that I didn't damage the ATV on this trail. 6) The seatbelt on my ATV was broken, causing a plastic piece to stab into my side for the last half of my trip. Told company worker at trail after my ride; he didn't care. Suggested I drive without a seatbelt. 7) We learned that the week prior to our reservation there was a driver who lost an arm due to a mishap during a rental. The callousness from the owner while describing this was unsettling. Still, no refunds once you've paid deposit, even if you're concerned about losing an arm. Customer satisfaction is not a priority for this company. Try the other ATV company with perfect reviews. read more

Everything is fun until things go wrong. My wife and our two friends visited Estes Park ATV rentals last week and rented a 4 person Vehicle. I'll detail the day and you make the choice if you want to rent from them. First things first, we were really excited for this day trip. We annually make the journey from California to Estes park. Each year we have rented everything from Jeeps to UTVs from different places. Any year prior to this we had never had an issue. We were not told until we got to the mountain that they were overbooked and that we'd be getting one of their older machines(substantially different than what they market). Oh well we shrugged and kept on moving. As we went about the day we had a blast and we're heading back when we flipped the UTV. This was most likely our fault and mistakes like this happen. That's why we purchased the insurance when booking (not that we intended to flip, but rather just to be safe). At this point everyone was fairly sore and frazzled. The first person who found us was nice and asked if we were all ok, but the owner and others acted like complete jerks. One member of our party ended up going to the hospital the next day for treatment. The issue really started when the insurance ended up being deceptive in nature. The owner didn't charge us for repairs, but rather for missed rental revenue from the machine. If this would have been one day... no big deal I get it, but the owner milked the loophole and charged us for numerous days. Based on all of this, look to book elsewhere and make sure to clarify how and for what your billed on if you damage a UTV. I'd have still booked if this was explained up front, but the way the owner and staff explained the insurance you'd never know that your going to be charged for missed revenue regardless of them having a actual booking or not for that day. read more

We were supposed to get a 4-person UTV, but something broke the night before and they ended up giving us a mule. A mule essentially cannot climb over any rocks and has very little flexibility in the wheels, so you feel every bump. Disappointing, but the owners did the right thing and refunded us $100. It was still fun, but we couldn't drive our vehicle to any of the sights. It would've been fun to see the crash site. We had to hike up the trail, but ran out of time, before we made it all the way up. The trails are well-marked off 105, but once you get on the road, there's really no other markers of hiking trails. It was really annoying to see others being able to drive up past us in their vehicles, while we had to resort to walking. If you're booking, call them the day before to ensure you're driving all the way up to Estes for something you didn't book. read more

You'll save yourself FareHarbor booking fees. + Regarding the reviews complaining about the owners and their customer service: I had nothing but positive interactions with both the employees in the store as well as at the staging area. They're blunt because they get daily deliveries of dumbasses who wreck their machines. The owner talked about a man on his bachelor party who lost a hand. After riding EVERY trail we were allowed to, I came to the conclusion that Captain Hook was a dumbass. You won't lose any limbs as long as you use your common sense and respect their rules. Logistics: + Real smooth. You meet at the office to sign forms, watch a safety vid, and get your helmets. + Drive to the staging area and off you go! + Afterwards, simply return the helmet at the office and go home. Visit: + Real fun, great scenery, enough room on the road to RIP IT and pass slower drivers. + Totally worth the money, if you're an adrenaline junky. We are from Wisconsin (LOVE ATVing) and traveled to Colorado for our "one year anniversary" trip and I think this was probably the highlight of the whole thing!! I was a little nervous about booking with all of the fine print and even more nervous when we showed up and it looked like the ATV's were dirty and already used that day because I wasn't sure how they'd be able to tell if something wrong with it was our fault or a previous riders but we never had a single issue! From the moment we arrived at their actual storefront, everyone was SO nice! Then we had to drive 30 minutes to the actual location (oh well) but within a matter of 10 minutes from there, we were off! The trails were so much fun and we even had a picnic halfway through! We will definitely be back in the future when we are in the area! I absolutely love this place! The staff were very kind, and were able to answer all my questions. They make sure you are completely safe and go through a not even 5 minute safety presentation. The ride was AMAZING, but the only downside is that we weren't able to go on other trails. We were only able to go on one. GO READ BBB REVIEWS Stopped in the store and looked into renting. We were excited and very ready to take a trip the next day. Looked into reviews before booking, found out that the owners can be dishonest and aggressive, calling the cops and yelling, charging people unreasonably. Decided to not book due to the risk. Wanted to have fun, but if we were to go over the speed limit and something were to break (people said some vehicles were not maintained well) it would be our fault and they would charge us as much as they could AND for $250/day that they cannot use the vehicle. In addition the lady in store told us someone died on one of their quad vehicles which they no longer use. Not worth it to us! This business is the most dishonest business and worst experience I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with! We rented 3 side by sides and one single rider ATV totaling over $900. Immediately into our ride (about a half hour into a three-hour ride) one of us got a flat from a HUGE nail. The single rider went down for help twice and I myself went down once. No one came to help until our ride was almost over. The owner, Troy, insisted his "guys" were told the wrong trail three times by two separate riders, insisted we were wrong, offered no refund at all, was sarcastic and condescending. I asked him to show me the text messages where his "guys" told him the trail number. He refused. He's a liar and horrible business man. No wonder he was the only ATV place with rentals. If you go to BBB his reviews are AWFUL and the Estes Park police are called to his establishment frequently. Wish I knew ahead of time! ATV riders beware!!! Go somewhere else or skip it!!!! They get no stars but I had to pick one! UPDATE: After leaving the store with the police officers (very professional!) Troy the owner refused to give the credit card slip back holding $500 for damage to the ATV. The only charges permitted are for damage to the ATV itself or sidewall of the tire. The nail was between the treads. I called cc company and there was a NEW charge for $185 for the tire. That's fraud. read more

From start to finish, the entire trip and staff was extraordinary. We were welcomed at 11:00am with three wonderful people. Angelo was a great guy who helped us figure out what we were looking forward to and provided detailed information of the trails. We then made our way to the starting point which was about 20 minutes away in the deep forest. We then pulled into a parking lot area and were assigned our UTV and told to punch it! We hit those trails and enjoyed every minute out on them. There were plenty of mud and water holes which were extremely fun to drive through and get really dirty (bring clothes you don't mind getting caked in mud). We had lunch out on this scenic view that was simply just perfect. The people who take these trials as well with Jeeps and trucks are very responsible and courteous when trying to pass. We paid for 4 hours and were to leave right from Estes Park, when we got there we were told tour was now only 3 hours and you have to drive 20 miles to the starting point. The road was Bunce School road. I was suggest watching some YouTube videos before going on this Trail. They did not tell us the road would be like that. After 30 min I told my husband to take me back and I sat in the car. One couple could was only out 15 min as he had back surgery. I seen the horror on a mothers face as she came down the mountain her 3 year old floppy around in the back seat and her holding on to her for dear life. Not good for little bones. Based off reading reviews from countless others I think it's safe to say this review isn't too far off. From the moment we got to the rental location we were greeted with hostility. We were finally asked to come in to finalize our rental, we were offered our helmets and in the midst of trying them on to ensure they fit when the owner came over yelling at half of our party to get out of the building due to COVID only 10 ppl could be in the space. Keep in mind another staff member had just brought us in to start our reservation. I found it strange that I was immediately sent out of the building as I was the person who made the reservation. Turns out they never actually asked for the name on the reservation, never asked for my ID or credit card on file to confirm our reservation either. When I went back inside to inquire about ensuring our reservation was good to go the owner yelled at me again to leave the building. The drivers in our group finished up the process (I assume since I wasn't allowed back in) and we went up the mountain to start our rental. When we got there they asked for the "slip" to confirm our reservation. Turns out we we're never given a "slip." When the employee asked my name someone else had already turned in my slip and checked in under my name. Go figure. He said this possess a problem because we don't have enough machines to check you in since another party already took your machines and likely went off with a machine they didn't rent. Not to mention my personal information was all over said "slip" :) They ended up finding us two other machines to use which was all good! As we left for the trailhead one of the machines was visibly rattling and making noises that clearly didn't seem okay. The employee cleared it and our group took off. 20 minutes later that machine broke down with a broken belt causing us to go back to the start point to notify the employees of what happened. We asked if we could get more time since we were losing time with the incident and they said no. We then asked if we could get a partial refund on one of the machines for the incident and the employee advised us he would let the office know and to discuss it with them when we returned. After spending 20 minutes getting back to the machine again + the time it took for the staff member to fix the belt we were up and running again. While our plan was to make it to the crash site that clearly wasn't going to happen with our time crunch - disappointed we rode up the trail as far as time would allow and then returned back. Overall the experience while out on the trails was a fun one, but the other incidents that occurred with the staff members really was what dampened our good time! When we got back to the office I explained to the older lady in charge (as everyone else working was likely high schools and dressed as such too **idk who's employer allows a young girl to wear a baggy oversized shirt with I assume shorts,(even though you couldn't see them) to work, but that's besides the point) what happened and that we weren't properly checked in from the beginning which posed a problem at the trail head. She argumentatively told me that indeed WASN'T a problem although the staff member at the trail told us it was because there potentially wasn't enough machines to fulfill our reservation! I then tried to explain the situation regarding the machine breaking down to her (which it seemed she already knew about because she asked the wrong name of me and then proceeded to tell me they called and told her) and asked if we could get a partial refund on one of the machines for the time lost. She told me she had no authority to do so and that I could ask the Owner Troy. When I asked to speak with him she told me he wasn't there and didn't know when he'd be back and I could wait around if I wanted. Clearly we weren't going to waste more of our day on this matter so we walked out - mostly just over the entire situation and how we were treated since 8am that morning. We met my boyfriend at the car who asked what happened and then went back in to see if he could get the refund we were promised at the trail. Upon entering the building the lady told him "oh you're with the rude girl who just left" and the situation went downhill from there. The arguments continued and it was clear we were unable to get a refund due to not being able to speak to the owner and the combative employees not interested in listening and or helping the situation out. When my boyfriend asked for the owners number to call him to get the matter resolved he was told no. They were eventually told to get out of the building or they were going to call the cops. Overall the entire situation from beginning to end with the STAFF at this company was poor to say the least. If you are looking for a fun and inviting location to rent ATV's from this one isn't the place - check out the other company that rents @ the same spot. read more

My boyfriend and I were on vacation and decided to book a half day ride. I booked it in advance and signed our waivers ahead of time. I read all the documents and there was no fine print. They tell you everything you just have to READ IT. No hidden fees. The family who runs this business was very friendly and informative. When I went due to the time of year there were only 2 trails open but that was plenty for us since we did a half day. The trail was so much fun! Not too difficult and had plenty of bumps which make the ride fun! My boyfriend and I took turns driving and had a blast. We would love to come back with a group of friends next time. Definitely have a 4wd vehicle to get to the staging area cause it's located on a downward slope. There they provide you with a truck and trailer with your rzr already loaded and ready to go. Then you drive it to the trail you wanna ride. It's that easy! The gps they give you doesn't really work since there is no signal out there, but we didn't need it anyways. There you'll get some more instruction on how to drive ATVs and a you go on a test drive to make sure you're comfortable. A girlfriend of mine wasn't exactly feeling the ATV so they switched her into a different vehicle for the same price, which was so accommodating and thoughtful. At the end of our tour they expect you to return that helmets to the original location, which was 25 minutes out of our way. You can pay $20 per helmet and the guides will return it for you. They are great ATVs and it was a fun tour. The 4 hours went by very quickly and we didn't feel like we saw as much as we wanted too! So we'll definitely be back. The downsides are having the two meet up locations so far apart. The only things we did at the first location with sign paperwork, grab our helmet, and watch a video. I feel like they can set that up at the second location to prevent people from going out of their way and driving all over Estes Park. That way we could return the helmets at the same spot because it's not very convenient for those who aren't going back to Estes Park. read more

We had a blast renting ATV's from Estes Park ATV rentals. The owner and all of the other staff members were all very nice and genuinely friendly. They seemed to truly care about making sure you get a great ride. We have rented ATV's before in other places but never had the chance to take them out without a guide like with this company. It was really fun for more experienced riders to be able to ride and explore on our own - although this company also has really, really cool UTV's available for 2-6 riders if not everyone in your party wants to drive solo or if you have kids with you. The trail options were an awesome mix of everything from relatively smooth and flat and easy enough for novice riders to very challenging trails that would be fun for much more experienced riders. The only reason this is not a 5-star rating is because I was a little disappointed that when you book a 4-hour ride, you actually only get 2 hours on the ATV because the office where you first check in is a good half hour drive away from the trail head and then by the time you get the safety and trail instructions, etc., you're about an hour in before you get to take off. So for us, we had booked 3-7pm. We didn't get to take off until about 4:30 and they told us to be back at 6:30. So that was a bummer. But even still, their pricing was fairly reasonable. I just wish they'd advertise it as what it really is as far as how long you actually get to be on the ATV. read more

Rented 2 Honda ATVs for my husbands birthday and it was amazing. We got the half day (4 hours) package. The staff is super friendly and the ATVs are great considering that they are rentals. TIP TO FUTURE CUSTOMERS: Only issue I had was that we got there half an hour before and we still missed a whole hour out of our rental because when you get to the location you do a mini introduction of the trail and how to be careful then from that office they send you on a 20 minute drive to the actual place where you get your ATVs. It would have been nice if someone would of told us this because once you get to the place where you get the ATVs we still waited for someone to help us out because there is only like 3 workers and they still give you ANOTHER mini informative speech about the trails. I booked the 3pm-7pm rental and didn't start until 4. I thought getting there half an hour before would be enough but it inst. The reason I still gave this place 5 stars was because even 3 hours of riding is enough to explore and have tons of fun. SO over all I am still coming back in August the trails are AMAZING beautiful and its worth every penny you spend just keep in mind to get there at least an hour before your rental time starts. read more

We had such a great experience with these guys! My friend was having trouble driving her car (Texans ), the owner offered to drive it for her. When we were on the track it was the highlight of our vacation. The track goes through such a beautifully wooded area that also had amazing wide open views. Some areas of the track are great for beginners while others are more advanced for the adventurer in you! We got out and hiked a little bit at one point and took a million photos. Definitely will be back on our next trip. read more

SCAM - AVOID THIS COMPANY! Our group of 14 including some small children rented 3 ATV's for a half day tour. The experience was nice with our group staying together on the trails for the entire ride, but the fun ended when we returned the ATV's and we were aggressively accused of damaging the vehicle. When we started the ride, there were a few small scraps and dents on the vehicle but didn't think much of it as they pointed to our ATVs and sent us on our way. But when we returned the owner immediately accused us of rolling the ATV, which shocked us as we uncomfortably laughed thinking he was joking. But he wasn't joking, in fact he said we were all lying and wouldn't let us leave. He was repeatedly yelling "I'm not done with you and get back here". I even tried to calm him down while explaining that we had small kids and offered for him to ask them if there was an accident, but his response was "your kids are lying too". After some time after he threw out accusations at each one of us while holding a large wrench in his hands he eventually allowed us to leave with a "hope you can sleep with your conscious". We drove away in shock and the more we thought about it we figured out it was a scam and they are looking to charge people extra. Once back at our vacation rental we found photos of us standing in front of the ATV, and sure enough the damage was already existing. We are holding the time stamped photo as evidence in case we get a charge on our credit card. There are much better ATV rentals to in Estes Park, avoid this one! read more

Had a terrible terrible experience with this company. The experience started on a good note. We were running a little late and we called ahead to inform them. They were very kind enough to accommodate us for the entire duration of 3 hours that we booked then for. The person at the main office was really nice and kind. The nightmare started when we were returning the vehicles. There was a lady and a guy(who claimed to be a manager) at the site. It started off with them asking us "Where did you roll over?" We were like what? And then he started pointing to the damages that were already there from before and started putting false allegations on us. We started to argue and tell them that nothing of this sort happened and if one of us would have rolled over we would have been atleast hurt. He said "you can argue as much as you want but I am still going to charge you". "If you still want to argue, let me see what else I can charge you for in addition to this". What sort of a professional behavior was this?? The gentleman set off to inspect the vehicles while we still kept arguing with the lady. After 5 mins, the guy shows up and says "ohh now I remember. This was from last week". Just shows they were on the lookout of conning people. After coming back, I filtered on all terrible reviews on trip advisor and I did see this is a common occurrence. Do yourself a favor and read these before giving business to them. Never coming back here again. Would advise others to stay cautious. read more
