Key issues from this visit: Lost Appointment & 11-Hour Wait: Despite showing my online appointment confirmation at drop-off (8:15 AM), the service writer claimed I didn't have one. My vehicle was placed in a low-priority queue and not finished until 10 minutes before their 7:00 PM closing time. Ignored Instructions & Unperformed Work: I provided explicit instructions to use my supplied Motorcraft filter and empty the oil catch can. The service writer wrote these on a Post-it note instead of the work order, and the tech received neither. The catch can was left full, and my tires were never rotated (left in their exact prior positions), raising serious doubts about whether the balance or alignment check were actually completed. Property Care: The vehicle was returned with greasy handprints left across the hood and fenders. Refusal to Fix the Mistake: After installing an aftermarket filter instead of mine, management claimed the next day that a company policy prohibits using customer-supplied parts. This policy was never mentioned at drop-off--despite the manager being present--nor enforced during any of my previous visits. I genuinely valued this location and expressed to the manager that I wanted to resolve this internally without leaving a negative review. Unfortunately, local management refused to take responsibility. I am sharing this publicly in hopes that Pep Boys regional leadership will step in, address the management issues at the Gardendale store, and make this right.
