My wife and I dressed nicely and visited Estoril for our wedding anniversary dinner. We were stopped at the entrance of the restaurant by a homeless woman who said she was hungry and asked for money to get something to eat. I made a 'donation', she thanked us and we entered the restaurant. We were literally the only ones in the dining room, our server seemed nice and offered some suggestions and we placed our order. I asked the waitress what beer they had on DRAFT and ordered one from the ones she listed. She brought me a BOTTLED beer with NO GLASS. Then we proceeded to wait 40 Minutes for our food to arrive!! A party of SIX who entered after us was waited on, served and left by the time we received our food. My wife said she would go to the ladies room then we would leave if our food hadn't arrived. My wife returned from the ladies room and said it was dirty and still had #2 in the toilet! We were just about to put our coats on when the food FINALLY arrived. We asked why it took so long and the waitress said my dish was seafood so it took longer. "You don't want undercooked seafood!" she said. But 40 MINUTES in an empty restaurant?! She asked if there was anything else I needed so I mentioned that she didn't bring me the Portuguese fries I had ordered. She went back into the kitchen and returned about 10 minutes later with regular french fries. When I told her I had ordered Portuguese Fries she said... "That's what the Chef made." REALLY?! My meal was EXTREMELY salty and practically inedible. I have NEVER not left a tip before but I left ZERO tip and suffice to say we will not be returning. 'The Phantom Gourmet' gave a stellar review on YouTube which they have posted on their website but now I see that the review is from 9 years ago! Estoril, I can't say enough about this place. The food is delicious and the portions are amazing. The Portuguese rolls with the oil was so good. My daughter and I had the Phantom Gourmet's recomended Portuguese Steak and it definitely lived up to the hype. The steak was tender, juicy, and the egg was one of the best topped eggs on steak I've ever had. My boyfriend had the Paella which he said was amazing. Definitely will not be a return patron. My initial impression was it was outdated and dirty. We were seated near a window that I could barely see out when I moved the curtains because it hadn't been washed in ages. I ordered the infamous Portuguese steak and was equally disappointed. Although the steak was fairly easy to cut and chew it was smothered with a dark gravy that was made with Gravy Master. The sides were boring and/or boiled. Presentation was definitely lacking. Then it was sprinkled with dried parsley for you to spit out. Nothing appeared to be fresh. The dish itself was barely warm so it was probably sitting in the kitchen to be served for a while. The waitress was slow and didn't bring our meals together so I sat and waited several minutes until she got around to bringing my husbands. Not sure why it was featured on TV. This Is most definitely one of my favorite portugueses resturaunts in Fall River. I am always Torn between the Steak and the Broiled Portuguese Scrod. My favorite drink is the house sangria with no ice. I have had his fish and chips, fish sandwich and chourico for lunch. A MUST HAVE is the chicken mozambique wings and slam dunk it in the sauce over and over again like your Lebron James sooo goood... Able is not only the most entertaining person Ive met but he shows his food love. If you have room his chocolate mousse its fantastic. His soup is great so is the pork and little necks. Extra friendly and sociable staff serving dishes from the Portuguese Azores. They serve a delicious local Chouriço, and locally caught shell and finned fish (Scrod, Cod, Clams, Mussels, and Squid). The Shrimp, Chicken, and even Wings are available in a not too spicy Mozambique, with plenty of garlic, butter, and red pepper sauce, though I'd prefer a little thinner and more liberal saucing on my dish. The wings were simply great, with a thick crispy coat of the tasty, spicy crust. The Portuguese Steak was a thick pan-seared sirloin strip, with a beautifully fried egg on top and red pepper garnished rice. It was nicely cooked, but not my favorite cut, really a bit too dense and lean. I'd have been happier with a thinner slice of fatter beef. Aside from the wings, the Baked FIsherman's Pie was a standout. Generous flanks of firm white fish, tender soft scallops, and juicy poached shrimp bubble under a bread crumb coat. Served with a side of large slices of hand-cut Portuguese fries, hearty house made potato chips at hand to soak up the flavorful broth below. Great dish. read more

Estoril is one of the classiest Portuguese joints in Fah Reeve. Excellent service, a good wine selection and out-of-this-world dishes are all typical here. The interior and ambiance are a pleasant departure from the often dumpy-appearing surrounding area. The quality of food served here would command far higher prices elsewhere. The same could be said of the wines. My girlfriend and I visited Estoril on a recent Winter-said-to-be-Spring night. Our chourico bombeiro was presented well and tasted great despite being a bit fattier than anticipated. She ordered a perfect example of a delicious Portuguese steak. I ordered the Paelha: littlenecks, scallops, squid, crab meat, shrimp, chicken, pork and chourico in mild yellow rice. I felt like a post-frenzy shark afterward, wanting to roll about a bit in ecstasy to properly celebrate the feeding. I feel like Estoril may have reached a plateau of sorts. Fortunately, there are a few seemingly simple things that might really push it into a class of its own and improve a patron's overall experience: 1. Fix the rickety chairs: I mean, they're nice but they could definitely use some TLC. 2. Turn the music on: At a minimum, the ambiance is diminished in its absence. 3. Check the dishwasher: If I can see bits of encrusted wine from a previous diner's glass, a problem exists. 4. Warm it up: Serving the bread at a temperature other than room makes a positive difference in the overall experience. 5. It pains me to write this update... Oh, Estoril what has happened here? This is one of the reasons I do not like to write a review after only one visit. Our first visit here was a legit 4 stars, unfortunately we raved about it to my wife's parents and they wanted to try it, so we returned. This visit zero stars, so that's where my two stars come from this time, I averaged the two visits. We were seated at 7:15pm on a Saturday night, the restaurant was full but didn't seem overly busy to justify what was about to happen. Drinks were ordered first and of course the Calamari again as an appetizer. After a few minutes looking over the menu meals were put in as well. Then we waited, and waited, ordered more drinks... still no sign of the Calamari. People around us are beginning to leave without eating as they are tired of waiting. We know it's good so we decide we should stay and wait it out, I'd say it was about 9:15 before the Calamari finally arrive, but this time it's completely inedible. It was way overcooked and you couldn't even chew it, so we didn't get to eat any of it. More waiting, at about 9:40 we decide to ask the waitress what's going on with the meals. She informs us that ours are being made next and that ever since the episode on the Phantom Gourmet aired the restaurant has been so busy they can't keep up. Well at this point we decided we are not waiting any longer either and ask for the check up to this point. I can see being busy and having people wait to be seated but you should be able to handle the amount of tables your restaurant holds. We were seated for 2.5 hours and our meals weren't even cooking yet? That's just not right, so after all this we end up paying for our drinks and the Calamari that couldn't be eaten. No apology (just an excuse about it being too busy), no free round of drinks for the trouble or even take the appetizer off that couldn't be eaten. Unfortunately, the way it looked that night you might have lost quite a few customers as many people left without eating. Hopefully you figure this out because there are too many good places to choose from in this area to endure the experience we had that night. read more

Have I been deported? It did not feel like the same place. We have been here numerous times and have made it our favorite portugueses restaurant. It was a friday night from hell, not sure what happened. We started with the calamari, which was good untill we noticed a pile of deep fried matter under all the calamari. Maybe they needed to empty there frier-later. The chicken Mozambique was ok which the one star came from. The pork and littlenecks should be called pork and potatoes, because you only get four littlenecks. The topping on the cake was the lipstick stain on my wifes water glass(she does not wear lipstick). My fiance and I went to Estoril this past weekend and had a fantastic time. The portions are ridiculous for the small price of the meal. We started out with the fried calamari for two- the plate was ridiculously large. Even if you have 4 people eating the calamari I would recommend getting the order for one! I would also highly recommend the Mozambique shrimp as an appetizer- very flavorful and tasty. My fiance had the baked stuffed scrod which was fantastically delicious, another guest had the portuguese steak with the egg on top and it was also fantastic. I had the shrimp trio which was Mozambique shrimp (I ordered it as part of my meal I liked it so much!), baked stuffed shrimp, and BBQ shrimp with peppers and onion. It was great. The wait staff was excellent and was able to provide great recommendations off the menu. The one thing that was not perfect about the meal was the wine. They only had Portuguese wines (which makes sense) and we were not huge fans of the bottles we ordered. I don't think that this is the restaurant's fault....I just think that we don't like Portuguese wine! read more

AWESOME! I saw this place on Phantom Gourmet and had it bookmarked. Happened to be in the area so we tried it out. The service is excellent and the restaurant is clean and nicely situated. We started with the flaming chorizo. It's a Portuguese sausage served on a ceramic dish that is holding a flame. Very cool and a great tasting sausage. On Wednesdays and Thursday's they have a dinner for two special. Select entrees and a bottle of wine for $29.95. WOW! Great deal! We both had the Portuguese steak that was cooked perfectly. It comes with 2 sides and a delicious gravy. Huge portion as well. We will definitely be back. Our bill with taxes was only 42 bucks. It costs more to get s couple of salads for lunch most anywhere else. read more

From out of town, crazy about Portuguese food. Heard Fall Rivers has the largest Portuguese population in the country, go to Fall Rivers. First tried the Sagres, which was too packed to accommodate just a party of solo. Really craving a paella so take I took the risk of trying the second option, Estoril. Very classy decor in the lounge area, which is separate from the actual "dining" area. Got seated shortly after walking in. Asked to be seated at the bar and the waitress happily complied with the request. Brings me to the bar, introduces me to a flashy Portuguese man named All Star, his equally flashy girlfriend and two women who were both named Mary, who left shortly after I sat my stoned ass down on the bar stool. The friendly bartender quickly gave me a menu and drink. Took my order, flipped the menu, made me a nice little table setting on top of the menu. Brought me a Portuguese roll which was excellent. In between watching the Colombia- Brazil game and hearing Portuguese being talked all around me, the food arrived quickly. A huge steaming bowl (she had to bring me a side bowl) of paelha filled with soup, rice and all assortments of meat and seafood. I dove in quickly and made a huge dent before I couldn't eat anymore. The service was so epic, every person coming in and out from behind the bar asked me how my food was (Even All Star and his flashy girlfriend). It was 20 bucks but you get your money's worth. I Would Make the 7 hour trip from Delaware just for the Portuguese Steak, or The Steak Estoril. We were seated at 430 pm on a Saturday. No wait. Nancy our server was excellent. As we were a party of 11, everyone was taken care of. Everyone received the meals at the same time. Drinks were awesome. Try the pineapple bomber. The sauces are the best we have ever tasted. We went to Estoril last night for supper with some good friends. As much as I wanted to love the place, I have to admit it was a bit of a mixed bag, both in regards to the food and the service. I'm sure we'll go back and I want to give Estoril another chance, but.... We arrived on time for our reservation and were asked to wait until "all members of our party arrived". The "non-arrived" member was me, who told the hostess I had to run back to the car (in the crazy-full and crazy-tight parking lot) to get something and asked if she could seat the rest of the part so they weren't forced to wait for me. I returned to the restaurant to find the dining area almost empty and the hostess waiting for me to seat the party...granted, a minor inconvenience, but.... When we were finally seated it took some time for our waitperson to arrive. It was clear that the dining room was understaffed. They would have benefitted greatly from another waitperson. Our waitperson was lovely; she made suggestions on the menu and helped those at the table unfamiliar with Azorean food navigate the menu. Our drinks and appetizers arrived fairly quickly and, like the rest of the experience, they were a mixed bag. We had some lovely Portuguese beer and vinho verde, along with some calamari and chourico with littlenecks. The chourico and littlenecks were great, the calamari....not so much. I'm still trying to figure out how the kitchen managed to get the squid to be overcooked and the breading on it to be undercooked. We waited what felt like a VERY long time for our entrees, which, I think we all agreed, were quite good. The Portuguese steak and Shrimp Mozambique were both winners...almost worth the wait. We left feeling like we may have hit the place on a less-than-optimal night; by the time we left the place was completely packed and it was clear the waitstaff were overwhelmed. I'd give the food an "uneven three out of five stars"....some things were 4 out of 5, some a (generous) 2 out of 5. Our waitress was lovely, albeit overwhelmed. Staff was friendly but it only seem to be that one girl working on Saturday july 18. Calamari was delish. I ordered steak estroil the sauce was good but no seasoning on the steak whats so ever my son had a grilled chicken breast. It was a regular grilled chicken breast. Dessert had both the fried ice cream and creme brûlée. Now the creme brûlée is my sons favorite dessert it was the worst i ever had. Not creamy what so ever. Over cooked custard. The fried ice cream was good for the half that was actually cooked. You could see raw dough dripping and taste. I say there is always a first time for everything. read more
