I had the fisherman's platter that came with giant lobster tail and claws, scallops, shrimp and little neck clams served with seafood rice we had oysters and calamari for apps and she kept refilling the bread basket with delicious rolls and mozambique sauce. our server was very friendly but not the best. we gave her the one children's order first but she served everyone else and brought his last. waited an incredibly long time for the apps to be served and meals came shortly after that it's a great family place that also has outside seating would definitely recommend read more

This is an old fashioned seafood restaurant. It feels more like a social gathering for retired people, which is a great thing to have. The food is a little overpriced. There is room for improvement. The mashed potatoes that come with baked fish is very bad. They need to revisit this. It was watery and heavily spiced. It is not hard to make the perfect mashed potatoes. The backed scrod was OK. The beans were ok. Might give it another chance but the initial experience was underwhelming. read more

Went to Alive again last night - amazing as usual! I had fish and chips - enough for two meals. Very good fish A friend has fried clams WITH bellies and he was in heaven! Another friend had shrimp Mozambique, which is his go to dish here - he was also very happy. My ONLY complaint is the French fries - they were dry and tasteless, which is not the usual. To tell u the truth, I forgot what I got, or the people I was with got. I know we both had a dish with pasta. I am sure I had some kind of fish with it. We both got giant platters, but the quantity of food was scarce...hence use large platters to make it look like more. And the spaghetti was swimming in water!! Not a flavorful juice, it was pasta water, we had to add salt to make it palatable!! GROSS!!! We were all hungry, so we ate what we could, but left a lot behind. Also, a person in my party wanted chocolate milk, and they don't serve that. I wanted an unsweetened iced tea with lemon...they don't sell iced tea either. We all drank water! We were asked if we wanted a take out container for our leftovers...no thank you!!! It was gross here, you think I want to eat it again?? We were sat in a tiny corner with a huge party table against the wall. Those people were so loud, and small kids, between the food not being satisfactory, the atmosphere was unbearable. We are older people who go out to have a nice quiet dinner. We try different places, and this is a never return place as far as we are all concerned. The scallops wrapped in bacon were excellent. The Caesar salad was made with shredded mozzarella, not parmesan, and was missing anchovies ( I realize not everyone wants them). The fried clam sandwich was good as well. Our server was very attentive, and the food came out quickly. IAlive has a family-friendly atmosphere and food to please everyone in the family. I want to start with service was amazing! The waitress and person who brought out the food were professional and friendly. The reason for the 2 stars is the food. Being 100 percent Portuguese and this being my third time there, it is time for a review. Anything that actually has taste is because they use their overpowering garlic sauce. Anything that does not have that sauce, has no taste. The only thing that was decent was the Paella. The baked fish had zero taste. The beef was dry and no taste. No sauce on the bife a casa. If you are looking for authentic Portuguese food, please do not base this food off it. I apologize to the restaurant for this review, but third time is the charm. read more

Last night I went to iAlive with some friends. We called ahead to make sure we could access the facility with a wheelchair, and they assured us we could- they set aside a table for us, close to the entrance. We also asked if they had fries oysters- the favorite of one person in our group. Over the phone, they assured us they had oysters and "couldn't see why they couldn't fry them!" (Oysters were on the menu. Fried clams were on the menu. Just not fried oysters). The food was delicious, and the servings were huge! Service was great- the server was attentive and kind. The only complaint is that the party next to us was VERY loud and boisterous. They were having a great time- and I'm so glad they were. But one of my friends is very sensitive to loud noises, and it was quite upsetting for him, so we cut our visit short. This is no fault of the restaurant- it just makes it a place that I won't visit with this group of friends again. This place happens to be one of my favorite local restaurants to go to. The atmosphere is a little dark inside but you're not sitting on top of each other which is good especially now with COVID. They seem to be adhering to the guidelines when it comes to that. They also have outdoor seating which can be nice on a cool day. Their food is what I like to call "Portuguese fusion" lol. It's not quite Portuguese but it's very close. I love their Shrimp Mozambique. Their Mozambique sauce is good, not the best I've ever had but it's good especially on top of spaghetti! Who knew?! Lol Their drinks can be a little strong but they are good. The staff is always super nice and attentive as well. I've recommended this place to people more than once. read more

We heard so much talk about this Portuguese restaurant that we had to try it. We did make reservations ahead of time since it was a Friday evening. Good thing because the place isn't that big. We were looking for some good Portuguese food but was a little disappointed. No salt cod or octopus so I ordered the Bife A Portuguesa. The food was plentiful and tasty as were the cocktails. So plentiful that we needed doggie bags to take home. Got ourselves a second meal for the next day. The staff were friendly and right on top of it. My sister had the roasted chicken, which she said was moist, but flavorless. The baked potato and corn on the cob that came with it were dry & overdone. My nephew ordered the baked scrod which he said was bland and needed salt. I ordered the Fishermans platter, which came with a flavorless clam sauce over spaghetti. The scallops and lobster were juicy and well cooked. The shrimp and little necks were overcooked and rubbery. Definitely not worth the money! Very disappointing!!! One of my favorite restaurants. The service is always great and the homestyle Portuguese food is to die for. The Paella is one of the best dishes I've eaten. Fantastic rice loaded with shrimp and scallops with a perfect lightly spiced sauce. Huge sea scallops cooked perfectly, large shrimp, littlenecks , mussels, and half a lobster all at a very reasonable price. A must visit if you love seafood. read more
