We were visiting from Florida and a musician was playing a set here. The space is very large and clean, and the selections were plentiful. There is a nice outdoor area if you need to stretch your legs and take in the fresh mountain air. As I went to have a taste of their delicious mead, Blair struck up a conversation with me, and we talked about the area, it's history, and this business he has made from his own humble beginnings. This is a very nice place to bring your dogs, have a few drinks, and make some new friends. The meads I tried were very good and the beers were distinctly above average. Relax with a Boggs Creek Oatmeal Stout and Instant Retirement Double IPA. Flights are six 4 of pours (2 Oz for meads). Staff was very friendly and brought cold filtered water for our pups. Stumbled upon this place after a series of unfortunate events and it was the star of the day! The place was cozy and had a small kids corner, a few cozy couch spaces and tables to sit at. The girl helping us was honestly hilarious and snarky but in the best way possible! She made our day and made us laugh after a rough hour before. Stopped in after a visit to Dahlonega for a little break from the cold. The room is large and comfortable with several different seating areas. It wasn't busy when we arrived but quickly filled up soon after. They offer both regular and sparkling mead, beer and wine. I ordered a mead flight and the bartender was super helpful in making sure I ordered ones I would enjoy. All of my choices were very tasty but the Drunken Peach Cobbler was my favorite. I stopped here on a recent weekend trip. Although it was an easy drive from the downtown of Dahlonega, when we arrived it was empty. It was about noon on a Saturday so maybe a little early for some day drinkers. However, I LOVED the drinks I got to try. My favorite was the sparkling mead. The sweet hot fuzz, made with honey, peaches and habanero peppers, had the perfect balance of sweetness and a kick. We visited the Etowah Meadery tasting room in downtown Dahlonega on a recent trip. We've done beer, wine, and margarita flights, but never a mead flight- and we love new experiences on vacation. My husband and I shared the $8 tasting flight of mead, which included four 2oz samples of Georgia Standard, Ranier Cherry Deluge, FIGeddaboutit, and Dry Humor. We also tried the Mead-a-Rita. We purchased the FIGeddaboutit flavor as well as a mango guava sparkling mead, and the art on the bottles adds a custom touch. I wish the DeSoto's quest was available by the glass, because I would've tried that as well. It was a bit pricey to purchase without tasting first. The tasting room on the square is worth a stop if you like adventurous adult beverages. The production facility is closed on weekdays, but I'd love to tour it if we return to the area. read more

Came to the Meadery to especially try the flights of mead. They had several and their pours were generous for 2 people. There were plenty of seating both inside and outside. We were on our way to go shopping in downtown Dahlonega, GA & we saw Brewery to the right. We stopped inside and I loved the atmosphere right away. The tanks to the right making the product the smells of citrus, & hoops was warm & inviting. The young lady who helped us was great and patient with us. Made great suggestions for us to try. They have plenty of outdoor seating and dogs are allowed. They even had a large fire pit Ali go with corn boards to play. They even have options to purchase their beers canned and can mix and match to what you enjoyed. If you plane to hang out for a while bring some little snacks crackers, cheese, pepperoni, nuts to snack on or they have a very small option for one person to have some sliced salami & olives. My friend and I stayed in Dahlonega for a weekend and stumbled upon the meadery after passing it a few times. They had so many options from traditional meads to special varieties. I loved the fact that you could a flight - it made decision making a bit easier. They had beer options too for the non-mead drinker. Outstanding people and pours. We had never visited and we have been to many small breweries in many small towns. This one gets it right where others drift away a bit from what they may be setting out to do. Many drink options of different types? Yes. High quality ingredients coming through tried and true creations? Yes. Fun for the kids and adults? Yes. A welcoming atmosphere from staff and patron alike? Yes! Julia was so kind and patient explaining everything and welcoming us. Some drinks really stood out. So the Etowah Meadery, it's definitely worth a visit. Brewery opens for business at 2pm till 8pm as of writing this review, I highly recommend the sample tasting, meads are amazing. They don't sale much good other then Cheese trays and bags of chips, so bring your own food or make sure you've eaten already. Bar tenders are amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, and did I mention the mead is amazing! Lol. My wife and I made the trek up this past weekend to visit the wine country of NE Georgia. If you do plan to stop here take it slow because it will sneak up on you around a slight curve. We visited many different establishments and while it is certainly nice here it isn't quite what you think of as a winery. Everything is made with honey. Either my taste was off or maybe the taps needed to be cleaned. There was also no food on the particular day we went though they said they sometimes had food trucks - which still just isn't the same. We got a "flight" and just weren't really sure what to do. The activities are incredibly limited and the disheartening part were the children unattended in the parking lot. This place is probably a sad accident waiting to happen. I truly wanted to enjoy but I think the savior for this place would be a larger building with more parking and actual vineyards where one could walk around. There probably is a market here, though, given the awards. Edit: After reading some of the locals (I assume) complaints about the noise and funeral interruption, I probably wouldn't have stopped anyways. We should all strive to co-exist and interruption of a baby's funeral and attacks toward a preacher don't really cut it for me. I hoped that wasn't true but I asked locals and as many as three or four said it was every bit true. read more

I really liked their take on a margarita (AKA a Mead-aaa-rita), the RB&B and the Mango Guava. They also have beer options brewed at Three Rangers. They offer snacks, if needed. The staff is friendly, the restrooms are super clean and there's lots of space to socialize. The outdoor seating and overall atmosphere is great. I enjoy going to the Etowah Meadery on a regular basis; for me that's about once a month. I like to try out the various meads, and craft beers. I really liked one of the meads that was infused with peppers, so it had a bit of a kick! They still have a ways to go with the Dahlonega Brewery and Three Rangers beers. Seem to be improving but a ways to go to making them memorable. I kinda enjoyed it better when they had guest taps, because they had less common and highly rated beers. Etowah Meadery is a must-stop on your tour to the Dahlonega area. I'm not what you'd call a mead connoisseur, but I enjoy a good honey wine when I find it. Their hours are limited to the weekends, but they do open earlier and stay open later than a lot of the other wineries in the area. So if you're planning a weekend visit to the local wineries, they are easy to squeeze in. Our bartender was excellent! After chatting with him for a bit, we decided to dive in and order two flights, a drone (4 of any kind) and a worker bee (4 samples of their sparkling offerings). The presentation of the flights was top notch, served in a wooden tray, with each drink identified with a small card so you could keep track. We enjoyed each sample; I would say there wasn't a single one that struck a wrong note. We mostly preferred the meads and the IPA over the sparkling versions, though. Our favorite of all of them was the Orange Blossom. Perhaps unfortunate for us to fall in love with that particular variety, as they had no bottles remaining for purchase, and didn't know if they would make any more. DOH! After sampling our flights, our bartender put on his 'tour guide' hat, and led us back in their production area where the real magic happens. He generously shared his time, and showed us where they ferment, can & bottle, label, and ship the mead. We marveled at the 55 gallon (700+lb) drums of honey! Etowah currently fits very firmly into the small batch, hand crafted category, and the operation is still managed by just a few people, and I LOVED seeing it at that scale. Overall, a very enjoyable experience, and I highly recommend it. read more

Seriously good meadery that I'm glad I researched on Yelp! I wanted to stop in just to get gifts for my husband and Dad, and the folks there were kind enough to let me get a little sip of many flavors to help my decision-making process. All of them were fantastic, but my hands-down favorites were the margarita-style and the mango-guava, which is a flavor the girl behind the counter recommended (glad she did, because that's a flavor combo I wouldn't have normally batted an eye at). I ended up leaving with more mead than I care to admit (and even got a few free bags of some killer local pretzels with my purchase!). I had good intentions of sharing the mead, but I polished off that margarita mead faster than I would have thought, and it's not like I'm much of a drinker. My fiancé and I always struggle when we go out to drink because I want wine and he wants beer. We live primarily by wineries, so Etowah Meadery is the best of both worlds. You are much better off asking for free tastings and choosing your favorite to get a full size for a much better price. $10-12 for a 16 Oz pour and $20-25 for a 16 Oz flight.
