My new favorite restaurant in the Valley! EuroAsia is a delightful hidden gem offering old fashioned homemade incredibly delicious food for affordable prices. This restaurant shines because of the great service. I was comforted by the familiar "People love us on Yelp!" sign as I approached this restaurant. A sure fire sign that the best awaits you! EuroAsia is located in a small corridor off Ventura Blvd. so it can be tricky to find. Head west from the shared parking lot with Rasputin market. (A five star Market!) I brought my dog with me for a patio lunch where we sat next to a bubbling fountain and enjoyed a sunny day. The menu here is extensive with grilled fish, stewed meats, soups and salads as well as regional specialties like plov and pelmini dumplings. Everything looks good here. We were offered a complimentary homemade bread which came with smoked salmon cream cheese spread. It was incredible. Five stars. I ordered the compote (a fresh fruit beverage with honey) a bowl of Ukrainian borscht and a whole fish stuffed with crab per the advice of my amazing server. (Thanks!) Everything tasted like it was made with love by a talented grandmorher who was taught the recipes from her grandmother. You know that's the best compliment right? The portions are large enough to share which makes this place a good value. My dog was given a nice bowl of water from the owner which he appreciated. I celebrated my mother in laws birthday here and so we went to with their banquet menu which was an amazing choice. The appetizers such as the somsa, smoked fish, and varyniki were all amazing and tasted fresh and flavorful. The lamb chops that we got were slightly overcooked but still tender and not overly charred. The service was quick and attentive to empty plates and our needs. The ambience was amazing especially with the optional singer add-on available with the banquet menu. Overall a great experience, would recommend for special events. read more

Was very disappointed today at the brunch. I know that restaurant for years. Food was always great. Today, everything except for pelmeni was mediocre. More to that, my favourite beef young salad was total crap. Eel salad I used to like a lot, had an eel sliced like prosciutto so you can't taste it. So sad that place I would go at least once a month went down in the quality. My understanding is that they are trying not to raise prices, but it doesn't work out for me. Came here with family for brunch. The usual prix fixe menu applied for about 50 of us. Service is fine, but the food was mostly terrible. All fish dishes were intolerable. Fresh salads were wilted, meat dishes were ok. Do what you wish with this information, but I'd look for another spot to host your closest. read more

I've been there with my daughters. It's a nice location inside the Encino plaza. The food wasn't as good as we expected. We wanted to try a Russian place that's why we went there . The food was good. The borscht with meat that my mom had was really good. The vareniki with potatoes were very good as well. Kvas was interesting, never had this beverage before. The vareniki with the cherry were ok, but I wish they put powdered sugar or something to sweeten them a little more, or at least a sauce on the side, because they were very tart. The service was good the guy was nice, but they charge a service fee, which I didn't know about, so consider that on top of the bill plus tip is extra. Prices for the sweet vareniki seemed a bit steep ($25) for boiled dough with cherries in it but it was different and exotic and a fun food experience. I was hoping for those nice Russian cakes or something more decadent for dessert but I guess they only had the dumplings with the fruit filling on this day. Also the Russian black bread they brought was good but I wish they'd give butter or something else with it. For only these few items ordered, plus the "service fee," the amount of food seemed a bit stingy. The restaurant is in a busy marketplace, on a busy street, but it's tranquil sitting outside next to the water fountain. Overall not bad. The grilled vegetables was good, the flounder fish was ok but too oily & not healthy. The rabbit was so bad that I only took couple of bites and couldn't eat anymore, it was super buttery & oily. Once again, our family was out on our ABC Foodtrip. This time, we were on the letter U, so we headed to EuroAsia for Uzbek food. That is not the only type of food they serve, but that is what we ordered. Our party of 6 was seated immediately inside. The interior is beautiful! The server we had was Uzbek and was excited to share this food with us. 5/5 - Chebureki: Fried turnover filled with ground meat and onions. Very big, but stuffed only with one long piece of beef. It's tender and light but also a little decadent... I loved this starter! 4/5 - Khanum: Thin dough stuffed with potatoes, beef & lamb and served with vegetable sauce. 4/5 - Kompot: Fresh made drink with fruits. It is not very sweet, which was really nice. 4/5 - Jarkoe: Stewed beef and potatoes, topped with onions. Super tender meat 4/5 - Plov: Rice cooked in a seasoned broth (zirbak) with beef and carrots. Delicious! Another dish with tender beef. 4/5 - Kavurma Lagman: Uzbek hand-rolled noodles, fried in a special sauce made of meat and vegetables 3/5 - Manti: Uzbek steamed big dumpling, stuffed with lamb and beef The food was really good across the board. When i have some free time, I like to try different foods. Not just pizza places, or doughnuts, but truly different places. I was asking a friend of mine from Russia where she would send me for some authentic cuisine. She said EuroAsia is the place. Off I went. Located off Ventura blvd in Encino, EuroAsia is tucked away in one of the many plazas located in and around the valley. It was just after noon, and there were just 4 guys in the restaurant so I had my choice of where to sit. There is plenty of seating inside and out. It was actually raining that day, or I would have been outside. The restaurant is nicely decorated. It sort of reminded me of something from the past -- like a restaurant the characters in the Godfather might have gone to eat. There were 3 servers, and all of them were nice, but very businesslike. The main server was a a young guy named Tolek. I was told, by my friend, to try something doughy, so I ordered the Chicken "Pelmini." Uhh... oh my .. excellent! I ate the entire plate within minutes. Melted in my mouth. They served sour cream with them, so a dipped a few. Is that right? I'll never know. Oops.. I forgot to mention the Uzbek bread. Whew.. another whopper of great eats. Yes, I ate that too. For the main meal, I ordered the meat stir fry with vegetables. Unfortunately, they were out of that. Back to the menu I went. Chicken Kiev didn't look good to me. I was leaning toward the Plov, but at the last minute I lost my courage and went with the beef pork ribs instead. Are pork ribs a Russian staple. In my mind, I'll say they are -- haha. Anyhoo.. they were spectacular. As were the side potatoes. I hate hyperbole, but it may have been the best meal I've had in a long time. It was that good!!! Afterwards, I spoke with Tolek, who said I should have gone with more of a rice dish. Basically, I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH THE PLOV!! PLOV!!!!!!!!! Tolek was great though. This was one of the most comprehensive and specialized meals I ever had I wish I could say all the dishes I had to eat. But the politeness and the quality of the food is well worth the price you're not gonna worry about price because you're getting a hell of a value. I got to meet the owner and I was lucky enough to go in the middle of the afternoon so the place was empty I got every possible delicious form of food I could eat... I'm with my friend, Randy B. in rating EuroAsia two stars. Sadly, had a sub-par experience here on Sunday evening, and would be reluctant to return. The evening started with several of the staff trying to keep patrons from staying - stating that "half the menu is sold out". This was about 6:45 PM. Oh-kay. I asked if they had pelmeni, and when they said they did, though no beef stroganoff, we decided to stay and find something for my husband to eat. I grew up with pelmeni, and it's still a comfort food to me, which put me in the right frame of mind to check out the rest of the menu. Despite the initial cool, off-putting greeting, we were in it for the cuisine. I did ask why much of the menu wasn't available. The waiter reported that they'd had a busy day, and many of the items had already been sold out for the day's allotment. Hmm. These weren't specials selling out - they were regular menu items. Another waiter brought out a handwritten list of the dishes not available. It wasn't half the menu, by a long shot. Maybe 20%. Which suggests that they really didn't want to keep working beyond the customers already there. What a way to run a business! For a few positives - parking is free in the large lot in the back of the Copa d'Oro center. There's a nice water fountain in the middle of a central plaza, which led us to choose to sit outside. Prices seemed fair for the quantity of food served. A table directly adjacent to the splashing fountain didn't have a white tablecloth on it, but rather mis-matched chairs and an ashtray. Didn't pick up on that, as we should have = "smoking section". GIANT PEEVE: Many of the patrons from inside would come out and congregate near that table / ashtray to chain smoke for a few minutes, then go back inside. We were definitely in the line of second hand smoke, sitting perhaps 10 feet away, up near the entrance. Then I noticed a large group table on the other side of the patio, under a canvas gazebo. Most of that group was smoking right at their table. Didn't that get banned in California about 25 years ago? To counter-act all that hazy smoke and quite indifferent service, the food would have to be outstanding to have a shot at 3 or 4 stars. It wasn't. I did enjoy my pelmeni - came without about 18 of the Russian dumplings, served with a tiny portion of sour cream. A light dusting of dill added flavor to the well-prepared savory chicken-filled dough pillows. Dear Hubby decided to order the grilled lamb shank. It came with a very savory small side salad on the plate. I got to share in it, and found the vinaigrette dressing to be excellently tangy & savory. Likewise, the garlic potatoes were a standout on his plate. I didn't try the lamb. DH reported that it was over-cooked, bland in taste, and not warm enough. He likely wouldn't order it again. The final fork in the meal - as in, "Stick a fork in it; it's done!", was that our server kept walking by us multiple times. There was a party of six behind us, and we were in between them and the front door. Deferring to the larger party, the waiter paid attention to them, and passed by us as though we didn't exist. Each time he did so, my mind was calculating dropping the amount of the tip, and also the number of stars in the Yelp review. It was really offensive, if not amusingly bad, by the time we flagged him down and asked for a box for the remaining pelmeni, and the check. He had determinedly avoided eye contact with us multiple times. There was no pretense about asking about dessert options. We just wanted out of there. Completely unsatisfying dining experience, on so many levels! Life is too short to spend time & money in establishments that demonstrate they don't want your business. read more

I've been wanting to come here for years, and finally the dream came true! All to be said, some dreams are lackluster and just okay. If you don't like people, come here midweek at 630pm for dinner...you'll have the place practically all to yourself. Further, perhaps you'll feel like a superstar or a King, having cleared and closed the place for a private function. I'm told it's very busy on the weekends, a good place to celebrate and/or large parties. Like I said, perhaps. I love Russian-type cuisine, but on this night I came for dumplings of all kinds -- one of the many specialties. My dumpling-filled order: ==================== 1. Chicken Pelmeni [$13, 4.5 stars] -- totally delish, topped with fresh dill and served with sour cream. These little steamed babies, 18 of em, could have only been better if topped with grilled onions. 2. Beef Manti [$14, 1.5 stars] -- 4 large beauties, but, wow, so bad. Beautiful thin dough, steamed, with very gristly beef & onions inside. When I mentioned to the waiter, he told me it was beef stomach. It didn't say that on the menu! It was tasty and could be so much better if more lean. 1/2 star bonus for the dough. 3. Potato Varenniki with potato [$13, 2.5 stars] -- they have them fried or steamed, and I chose fried since the other two above I got steamed. Wrong! They were deep fried (not pan-fried in butter, per say), and 18 of them was 14 too many. 4. Bread [$free, 3.5 stars] -- nice offering with red pepper and garlic cream cheese, crispy edges, but only fair in taste and texture (very firm and compacted). 5. Baltika Beer [$6, 5.0 stars] -- 8.0% alcohol, 15.5 oz. Never had it before, and it was absolutely terrific even if in a bottle and not draft. Conclusion: =========== I sat outside by the fountain which was nice. A family with young kids were the only other diners. It had no energy or vibe (again, Thursday night from 630pm-730pm), and what I ordered in total was very average. Overall, I've had much better experiences with this cuisine. I found the service very nice and polite, even friendly, which is nearly the only redeeming value here (and the beer, and the chicken pelmeni). I think if your part of the Uzbek, Azerbaijani, or the Russian community, you'll likely love the feeling of your home foods. I hope they play music and create a better atmosphere when it's busy, whereas, they had none for me. Bottom-line, it failed to transport me. read more

I specifically went to this place because I wanted to eat plov. My verdict: LOW-QUALITY, FORGETTABLE, OVER-PRICED PLACE. Not worth it. What you can expect: 1. A totally disinterested Russian waiter who "worked there for 10 years", who doesn't know a basic drink, doesn't smile, and acts disinterested and either tired (with his job) or arrogant. 2. You are FORCED to pay an 18% tip for a party of any size regardless of quality of service. I can understand why - this guy would have never gotten tips if they were voluntary. 3. Plov itself: that's a matter of subjective taste, and there are different types of plovs based on country, but I think the plov made by a well-known Russian deli here in LA tastes much better than this one. What I can say about Euro Asia's plov is that you get obviously cheap pieces of meat, with a good deal of fat and tendons. 4. Price. For two people, getting two entrees, one appetizer, one non-alcoholic basic drink, and this guy's forced tip, it comes out to over $60. That's for a BASIC, NOTHING-SPECIAL food, and rude service, in a small restaurant in a strip mall. It's not downtown, it's not Beverly Hills, Wilshire, Santa Monica, it's some no-name strip mall. You can get MUCH BETTER FOOD FOR THE SAME MONEY, in much better locations. This trash place is just not worth it. read more

I don't eat much Ukrainian or Russian food, but everything we had here was delicious! They start you off with bread and a spicy butter which is to die for! I could eat that as my entire meal, and I could eat that every day. This place oozes with yummy! Their beef stroganoff is decadent with cream and a whole lot of mushrooms. Very earthy. Very heavy. It's definitely comfort food and food you shouldn't eat every day if you're on a diet! This place is great for special occasions. The staff is friendly and very attentive. The atmosphere is nice, albeit some decor can look a bit cheesy, but I think it adds to the charm of the place. It's situated near a Russian market as well. We had borscht, chebureki and plov (a bit oily but the meat was very tender and I will order again) - and everything was very tasty. The complimentary bread came with a nice dip. It seems though we did not have any traditional Russian dishes so we will have to come here again to explore the menu! :) We sat outside near the fountain which was lovely. For seven people we ordered for pickup Neptune salad (great), Chicken Pelmeni (so good two of us didn't even get any), Beef in Aspic (yummy and great collagen for youthful skin!), Lamb Shank (delicious and moist), Lamb Chops (good but shank was better) OXTAIL SOUP -- AMAZING (and tons more collagen), and two Stroganoff (fantastic on a pile of tiny pommes frites but really rich so consider splitting and getting something to balance) - and something else I can't remember. Who would have thought this Asian element with Russian twang might also sway a certain A-list shave headed popstar (you know who you are) to a zero talent (99.9 % scripted) reality TV star whose nearest major cross streets happen to be Ventura Blvd and Louise Ave in the San Fernando Valley. Situated perfectly near a Russian market in the large Plaza de Oro shopping center one could get lost navigating this place. Luckily all you need to do is follow your nose. There is plenty of free parking at a lot behind the complex. Reservations are highly encouraged as this place gets packed. The willingness to sit outside is also an option. Blankets are provided by helpful staff to keep you warm during chilly nights. Now that's service! The food was wonderful and not what we expected...it was better. Meal begins with a plate of freshly baked bread cooked in an Uzbek tandoor and looks like a cross between a pizza and a bialy. Take it from me; it is delicious. The fried potatoes with garlic and dill dish was to die for... And yes, this dish is built with carbs. Load of carbs!!! Branzino was well prepared and wouldn't have it any other way. Plov- which is akin to biryani is very good rice tossed with meat, carrots and broth. Yup, I sure do could put it away! Would definitely return and excited to try more of their unique dishes.
