OMG!!!!! Where do I start? If you live in Orange County, then you know the struggle to find even halfway decent Polish food. Well, I don't have that problem any more thanks to Pierogi Rulez. I ordered some cabbage rolls and pierogi this past week and it showed up nicely packaged, refrigerated, and in the time slot they said it would be. All that I can say is WOW. I must say, this is THE best Polish food I have had, hands down. The cabbage rolls were perfectly seasoned with the perfect ratio of rice, meat, and sauce. The Pierogis were out of this world. I grew up in Shenango Valley, PA where the steel mill workers were of Eastern and Western Europe descent and pierogi were among the staples of food. The were served by my neighbors and local churches and they were delicious. So I was very happy to discover Pierogi Rules - the pierogi are fresh and as my family agrees - among the best i ever tasted. I liked them fried in butter and onions and served with sour cream or deep fried until golden (they puff put) and served with butter, sour cream and onion :) . I've been craving pierogis for a while and these are not easy to come find across when you live in South County. When I came across Pierogi Rulez, I was disappointed that they are not a physical restaurant because I wanted my Pierogis that evening. Either way, my only other option was to drive closer to North County and decided I was not in the mood for the trek. I decided to place my order for delivery and quickly found out they could deliver these hand made delights by the next afternoon. So glad I did because these Pierogis definitely taste like they homemade and are delicious and flavorful. I ordered the potato and beef and Helska was very kind to include a sample of their onion and bacon toppping which is addictive. Will definitely be ordering these on a regular basis. One "tip" to add [no pun intended]: I didn't know that these are delivered to your door directly from Pierogi Rulez vs. courier so I was not prepared to tip as the online system doesn't allow for tip inclusion. Wow the only place I have tried pierogis before has been Costco, and although I do love Costco, let's face it, it's not the same - this place blows them out of the water and is definitely my new spot for an authentic pierogi fix. We ordered the savory and sweet pierogis and they were amazing. I loved how the skins were so thin and light and you could really tell that the fillings were fresh. Usually if I eat too many I have food coma, however, I didn't feel this way at all. The sweet pierogis were surprisingly delicious. When my mother in law made sweet pierogis, they were not my favorite. I'm just more of a savory person. To my surprise These were out of this world! Yummy, made beautifully and traditionally crafted with love. Do not miss ordering the bacon, onion side as it really added flavor. They were packaged with perfection, labeled and also a very sweet instruction card included. I browned additional onions and everyone fought over them! Filled with yummy flavors of my Grandma's kitchen, light dough that stayed perfect during browning and served up with perfection. My communication with the owners made it even more special, you can tell they care and took great pride in their business. I would not think of going anywhere else and they have our business forever! Having never tried Pierogi in my entire life, stumbling upon Pierogi Rulez was taking a step into something familiar yet new! To me, pierogi reminded me a lot of boiled dumplings but obviously there is still something different whether it's the fillings, or the way its made but I know one thing for sure. It was definitely made with love, care, and attention in mind! When I ordered the pierogi it was during the Thanksgiving holiday season, worried about the delivery time I reached out and was only met with great service with assurance I would get the pierogi delivered in time. I opted to do the Date Night pack w/ 16 pieces, 2 sides/toppings, and faworkis, We opted to get 5x meat, 4x mushroom & sauerkraut, 4x potato and cheese, and 3x berries. The package was delivered on time with everything packaged into separate containers so you knew which flavors were. It was kept between dry ice to the food that was kept nice and cool. They were already cooked but did require a bit of warming up which was neatly explained with the instructions left behind. Out of the pieces we chose, the mushroom and sauerkraut really stood out to me with the depth of flavors coming from the filling itself! The berries also stood out because it was a unique combination in having a dessert filling but it paired so well with the sweet and sour cream we asked for. The faworkis reminded me of funnel cakes but they tasted nothing like it. It was a light pastry with a soft crunch that was nicely sprinkled with sugar powder on top. Tasted really good with the sweet and sour cream since it's originally a pretty light flavored item. We ordered 90 Pierogi (the party pack which includes Angel Wings and sides plus added some extra Pierogi) for our neighborhood Holiday Party and couldn't have been more delighted. The potato and cheese Pierogi were like little delectable pillows and my mouth is watering again just thinking of the meat filled ones. We pan seared them and added the bacon and onion toppings - so good. You can really tell that this is a craft for them; it felt like each Pierogi was made with love and care.
