Very disappointed with my first experience ordering from Kalinka. I waited almost 2 hours for my delivery and tried to be patient and understanding. The driver left the order outside behind the main street door, even though I live in downtown, which was very frustrating. I still left a tip anyway. When I opened the bag, there were no napkins, no forks, and no utensils at all. The salad came in an extremely tiny container, the vegetables were cut very poorly in huge uneven pieces, and it was overloaded with mayonnaise and onions. I also ordered a large portion of boiled pelmeni for my daughter, and it came with only 9 pieces, which honestly looked more like a child-sized portion. Overall, the food quality did not match the price or the wait time. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Food was amazing delicious and filled with simple and unique flavors. When it comes to the flavors they are subtle but tantalizing to the palate. Small and quaint location. We had the Chicken Kotleyi with buckwheat rice and pork jarkoe with potatoes and bread with eggplant spread

This hidden gem in Glendale is amazing. The food, taste, atmosphere and service are all top-notch. We had the solyanka soup, which was warm and comforting with flavorful cold cuts, the Olivier salad with potatoes, eggs, and chicken and the khinkali traditional Georgian dumplings. Everything was absolutely delicious

Excellent !!!! Loved the food, the atmosphere and the Service. When I'm in the area again; I'll make sure to stop in and try their other dishes. I'm sure they will be delicious

This restaurant is small, but delightful. It's located in an unassuming strip mall. I found the welcomes warm. I wanted to try a few things on their menu. The server did a good job giving descriptions of the menu items. I never knew blinztes came in a savory form. They have chicken blintzes as an appetizer, but it is more like an entree. The pelmeni was very much like homemade style. Vinaigrette is a common Russian salad and accommodates any meal.

Ate the chicken kebab so fast we forgot to take a picture. Tender, juicy, nice flavor. The herring with boiled potatoes is a favorite as well. The Modovik (honey cake) was very pretty but very dry. Also the cake cost as much as the kebab so just get another plate of that lol. The girl serving us was very sweet and attentive & the Russian music playing was a cherry on top. Overall we loved practically everything and absolutely would be back. Oh and pretty authentic flavors! Going to be a go-to when we're missing mamas home cooking.

I love Russian food. I crave it and I try every russian restaurant I find. This is probably the best Russian food I have ever had. The borscht was filling and a great portion, the blintzes were delicious and huge. I feel like I got great quality and value. I want to come back during lunch and try the snitchzel.

The restaurant has beautiful décor, but unfortunately the music was so loud it felt more like being in a nightclub than in a place to relax and enjoy a meal. We kept asking the server to lower the volume because it was giving us a headache. We ordered two dishes: the borscht and the beef stroganoff. The borscht was decent, but the beef stroganoff was tasteless and disappointing. For a Russian restaurant, we expected much better flavors. The service was also lacking--we asked simple questions and didn't receive helpful answers. Overall, the atmosphere was nice for photos, but the food, service, and noise level made the experience unpleasant. We won't be returning.

my first time trying russian food and it did not disappoint! i loved every item we got, my favorite were the mushrooms, the sauce was so good and it was so warm in the little stone pot. it wasn't busy at all and service was attentive. it's a cute little spot, i would def recommend

Came here for lunch. Ordered their black bread with spread, the chicken blintzes, the fried beef pelmeni and an Armenian coffee. The food wasn't bad, it just wasn't very tasty or flavorful. The coffee wasn't strong either. I found this place through other yelp reviews. Sometime ago a friend hosted their birthday at a Russian restaurant in the WeHo area, I thought this place would be better but it wasn't. On the other hand, the place was well decorated, clean, and spacious. Good background music and the service not very warm or welcoming, it was just okay.

A La kalinka (kharcho I believe) with a side of mashed potatoes.
    Nia H.

I had the A La kalinka (kharcho I believe) with a side of mashed potatoes and it was delicious. I didn't expect the spice but it was both delicious and perfectly spicy! I will say the beef could have been more fall off the bone but it came off easy enough with a little tug or two. Oh and a perfectly sweetened glass of Kompot. I've never had Russian food before but this has been a delicious experience. The restaurant was clean, well lit and had beautiful decors. Thank you for the good service as well.

The OG Soup Dumpling: Why Khinkali House is Glendale's Best Kept Secret…read more Let's get one thing straight: if you think the "soup dumpling" started with a two-hour wait outside a Din Tai Fung, you're about 600 years late to the party. While the culinary world is currently obsessed with the delicate, bite-sized Xiao Long Bao--which didn't even show up until the 1870s in Shanghai--the Georgians have been perfecting this craft since the 13th-century Mongol invasions. Khinkali is the OG. It's the rugged, fist-sized ancestor that doesn't need a bamboo steamer basket or a delicate, nervous touch. It's a meal that requires soul, a bit of primitive technique, and a complete disregard for your clean shirt. Tucked away on Artsakh Avenue, Khinkali House is where you go to pay your respects to this ancient culinary titan. Atmosphere and the Art of the Rainy Day I happened to drop in on a rare, miserable rainy day in Glendale, and let me tell you, sitting out in their roomy, covered patio area while the water drummed against the roof was pure atmospheric gold. It's the kind of setting that demands heavy, unapologetic comfort food. The service here is sharp, warm, and attentive--the kind of old-school hospitality that makes you feel like a regular before you've even opened the menu. The Opening Act: Borscht with Soul You don't just jump into a pile of massive dumplings. You have to prepare the palate. I started with a bowl of their Borscht, and it was exquisite. It arrived as a deep, vibrant crimson pool of beet-infused soul, swimming with tender beef, cabbage, carrots, and potatoes. It was earthy, slightly sweet, and served at a temperature that could ward off any chill in your bones. It's the kind of bowl that tells you immediately that this kitchen isn't just following a recipe; they're honoring a bloodline. The Main Event: The Four Pillars of Khinkali Then came the heavy hitters. Unlike the thin-skinned, elegant Xiao Long Bao, Khinkali is built for battle. It's a massive, boiled parcel with a thick, satisfyingly chewy dough gathered at the top into a sturdy little knot or "handle" (the kudi). You don't eat the handle--you use it to hoist the beast, bite a small hole in the side, aggressively slurp out the liquid gold trapped inside, and then devour the rest. I worked my way through all four flavors, and each was a masterclass in balance: Ground Beef & Pork: The classic heavyweight. The moment you pierce the dough, a rich, heavily spiced, aggressively savory broth floods your spoon. The meat is fatty in all the right ways, laced with herbs that cut through the richness. It is purely addictive. Lamb: A masterclass in bold, unapologetic flavor. The lamb adds a deeply gamey, sophisticated depth that grounds the entire dish. As it boils, the rendered fat mixes with the internal cooking liquids inside that thick doughy cavern to create a broth that is darker, earthier, and aggressively flavorful. It's a heavy, soulful revelation that hits you right in the chest. Mushroom: Often treated as a vegetarian afterthought in other places, here it's a star. It hits you with a massive wave of umami. The mushrooms are tender and earthy, producing a fragrant, woodsy liqueur inside the dumpling that makes you realize you don't need meat to create a complex masterpiece. Georgian Cheese (The Undisputed Champion): I'm just going to say it--this was my absolute favorite. It is an exercise in pure, primal decadence. Instead of a meat broth, biting into this unleashes a molten, gooey river of tangy, salty Georgian cheese. It pulls, it stretches, and the sharp, slightly funky bite of the cheese against the warm, thick dough is a spiritual experience. I could eat ten of these and die happy. The Return Trip The tragedy of Khinkali House is that the dumplings are so filling, you have to leave the rest of the menu unexplored. But I am already plotting my return. Next time, I'm coming back for the Adjarskiy Khachapuri--that famous Georgian boat-shaped bread loaded with melted cheese and crowned with a fresh egg yolk and a pat of butter. I also have my eye on the Zhengyalov Hatz (a traditional Armenian herb-filled flatbread), and the wildly intriguing Osetrina (Sturgeon) Skewer, which you just don't see every day. The Verdict: Respect the Elders Let's cut the noise. Xiao Long Bao is great for a polite, light lunch, but Khinkali is for when you want to feel something real. Khinkali House has managed to bring a 13th-century mountain staple to a Glendale patio and make it feel like the most relevant thing on the street. It's bold, it's historical, and it's flat-out delicious. If you want to experience the true evolution of the dumpling, get yourself to Khinkali House. Grab a handle, watch the rain, and eat like a Georgian highlander. You can thank me later.

We were 4 adults and 1 child, and an automatic 18% gratuity was already included in the bill. However, on the receipt the section saying "tips not included" was circled, which made it seem like gratuity had NOT been added yet. Because of that confusion, I ended up leaving an additional cash tip. I understand restaurants may add gratuity automatically for larger groups, but if gratuity is already included, the receipt and staff should make that clear instead of circling "tips not included." It creates unnecessary confusion for customers. Also, automatically adding gratuity regardless of service feels questionable. Thankfully our server was kind, but if service had been poor, customers should still feel they have a choice regarding tipping.

On to the food - we ordered the eggplant appetizer, it's similar to baba ghanouj but this one is a bit spicier and so yummy with the bread that came with it. We also ordered khinkali which is Georgian's version dumplings (we ordered the boiled version but there's also fried ones available). The dish was simply incredible, the baked crepe covered in cheese, the meat filling delicious, super tender, just melting in your mouth. Especially when you dip a piece of the blintzes into the mushrooms sauce, it's a homerun. Plethora of flavors all working beautifully together to give you that "Oh Woooow" feeling of satisfaction. Definitely a must try here. The design here is rustic, old school Ukrainian-Russian, with a lot of wood finishes. The customer service here is consistently amazing. Will definitely be back again!

Polka is a quality Polish restaurant offering authentic polish foods in a cozy ambiance…read more Our family, including my Krakow-born, Polish-speaking and cuisine-discerning spouse, came to Polka on a Saturday evening. Disappointingly quiet, we entered the cozy restaurant adorned by newspaper clips, polish coats of arms, and were greeted by our friendly waiter. I had the meat patties ($24) which were delectable. Rich ground beef and pork spiced perfectly and fried with an accompanying gravy. Rich, but not greasy. My wife had the chicken schnitzel ($30) which was good but not groundbreaking, and the kids a number of perogis ($25) I found excellent. Accompanying the two adult meals was soup (a delectable tomato and a surprisingly sour savory pickle) and salad. We concluded with a delicious strawberry jam crepe ($15, see photo). The soup and meat paddies were the strongest entries on the menu that evening. The service was warm and genuine, taking our order, giving recommendations, communicating in polish as per our preference, and the restaurant was cozy and clean. Prices, as listed above, were reasonable considering the accompanying soup and salad. Overall, Polka is a solid restaurant with excellent food and service at a good price. Delicious, hearty, and with a cozy atmosphere it is perfect for a date or small family looking for a genuine taste of Eastern Europe. Food: 4.5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Service: 4.5/5 Value: 4/5

I wish there had been more caramelized onions to provide a more tasty contrast with the mild perogies. The highlight was the flaming cherries & cheese (it was cream cheese) crepe. Tasty and fun! The modest sounding chocolate pudding is also surprisingly delicious. Service was attentive.
