We've been to this place a few times. every time we went, we were served cold food. The last time we went, we were party of 6 we specifically asked the cashier that we want our kabobs to be well done and we want the food to be hot. Not only my wife's chicken kabob was not cooked well, it was cold too!! Her meal was not the only meal on the table that was cold. The next morning, we both had severe stomachaches which we could not possibly believe. Please do not be fooled by the portions that they give you, they fill up your plates with lots of salads, to cover up the stingy portion of one skewer chicken or beef kabob which they serve you on their plates!! They claim to be glatt kosher but their food, meat & chickens are not healthy at all. We will never step foot in there again. After a while, there was a response from the owner: " I am sorry to hear about your experience with us. This is not something that we take lightly. I would like to offer my apologies. Please give our main office a call and ask for my secretary. She will be happy to hear from you and will do her best to rectify the situation." I did call and talked to her. She said that she is going to talk to the owner and will get back to me. She texted me the following: I appreciate the time you spent talking to me regarding your experience at Tel Aviv Grill. I spoke to the owner and he agreed to send you a gift card in the amount of $150 which you can use at any of our locations including "Popular" our newest store and Tel Aviv Tapas. Although I understand that your review was based on a true experience, considering the fact we are rectifying the situation, will you please either remove the negative review or rewrite it with a better light? This is coming from someone who has an Israeli boyfriend, someone that keeps hummus as a staple in her home, and someone who could probably never get sick of Mediterranean food. He and I used to be long distance for three years and every time he would visit in LA, we would go to Tel Aviv Grill. There are lots of things to get here... pita, laffa, baguette, but I've pretty much always ordered the plate. You choose a meat and you get a wholeeee bunch of sides. You order and pay, and take your receipt to the counter and they prepare the meat and your order for you. I usually order the chicken thigh plate and I split that with my boyfriend. The plate is honestly enough for two people but it's not quite enough protein. So we also order a side of rib eye or chicken shawarma. I get everything with the plate, so that looks like: purple cabbage, green cabbage, cucumber tomato salad, pickles, peppers, roasted eggplant, fries, and one pita. Hummus and tahini too. They have other sauces too but you have to specifically ask for those if you want them, like zchug and amba. Some workers are nicer than others and if you ask for a little extra, they give it to you. Goodness! They are busy!!! It's a casual dining spot. You order at the register and give your receipt to the food area. They prepare you food on the spot. It kind of reminds me of a version of Chipotle in a way that you can customize your meal. I had the Schnitzel Plate and my plate was loaded!! Tel Aviv Grill reminds me of when I lived in Jerusalem during my first year of college and used to party on Ben Yehuda street on Saturday nights. Authentic Israeli food all the way! Kosher, fast paced, busy, and serving a hungry Jewish population. It's set up in the same fashion as Subway: pick your meat, pick how you want it -- pita, laffah, or plate -- and then move over to the counter where the guys are making it and tell them what you want on it. Portions are very generous, and the merguez and schnitzel are delicious. The fries are fantastic! Hot sauce is super-hot, so be warned. I plan on going back to try to shawarma. I appreciate the tefillin-laying station and the handwashing station with the prayer over bodily orifices. I also appreciate all of the tzedakah boxes. You order at the counter and then move in a small line to a lengthy open kitchen counter, where you will find a variety of fresh salads and sides laid out in front of you behind glass. A nice worker will then ask you on which salads and sides you want and then the worker will literally load up your plate with all these amazing salads, grilled eggplant, hummus, rice, fries and a hot, thick, pillowy pita bread. In a nutshell, every time I'm down south in the Los Angeles area I HAVE to hit up Tel Aviv Grill!!! 'Tel Aviv' is located in Encino (South San Fernando Valley) off Ventura Blvd and inbetween Louise and Amestoy. To be more specific, 'Tel Aviv' is within 'Plaza de Oro,' next to a barber shop and Encino Escrow. The only con of this place is the parking situation is rough. At least out front. Their parking spots are ridiculously narrow. Whomever designed this lot needs to get fired lol. A Prius could barely fit! Makes no sense. There also isn't a lot of space to Reverse. So I'd recommend parking in the back of 'Plaza de Oro' as there is much more availability. One thing to note if you haven't been is Tel Aviv Grill is a 100% Glatt Kosher restaurant. And they observe Shabbat, the Jewish day of rest. So don't come Friday evening or Saturday because they will be closed! I came at 2 pm for togo lunch and got the rib eye skewer plate . I asked for medium I received well done. The fries were soggy. The salads and sauces were delicious and Laffa was delicious and warm. I received a side of rice that was cold, which is concerning with grains growing bacillus bacteria. This is serious as the temperature was definitely in the danger zone. Not kept under a warmer, and in an enclosed container prepackaged, which is prime conditions for this bacteria to grow. The service was awful. No structure or welcome of walking in. I stared at the menu for a moment and then walked up and the cashier had an awful attitude as if I was interrupting her day. I actually came in for another item in mind and when I ordered she let me know they don't serve that item on Friday's so I said no worries what do you guys serve today? With an eye roll I was told "literally everything else". The meat was made to order which was delicious. The packaging was less than ideal as the sauces were half hazardous thrown in the bag and one of the sauces popped open making a mess. For context I live very close to this location so the rice should not have gotten to 68 degrees if it was stored properly and a cut of meat would not cook itself to a well done from a medium within 5 minutes. Located in an ethnic shopping center, right next to a Russian market, Tel Aviv offers delicious kosher cuisine built on fresh ingredients and gigantic portions. I ordered the laffa sandwich with beef shawarma, and jam-packed with tomato, onion, and pickled vegetables. I worked hard at finishing it, and none of my friends was able to finish their plate. An employee behind the plexiglass prepared my food graciously as soon as I handed my order slip. The shawarma plate was ready immediately, but kebobs took a long time and the line got busy. I didn't mind waiting, however my plate filled with vegetables and bread was sitting on the prep table waiting for the kebobs. The service was ok but I had to tell the preparer more than once exactly what I wanted. It was kind of noisy in there. The parking lot was totally full and I had to wait until someone left to secure a place to park. The only thing I really did not like was one of their employees was sweeping the floor the whole time I was there. She kept going over the same spot raising nothing but dust. I've had my fair share of Middle Eastern food, and felt that every experience was sort of on the similar side. I was really impressed with the kebab and the chicken plate was that it had a taste into it that was definitely fresher, and felt like it had less preservatives than what I usually get, in other Middle Eastern restaurants But if you like me, and all about the sides, then you're gonna really be blown away. But the red cabbage and regular cabbage slaw are amazing. The peppers, pickles and grilled peppers are amazing and the cucumber salad was sliced in some sort of mandolin which made the texture and bite of the cucumber delicious Also, the pita bread was fluffy unlike any pita bread I've ever had, and it made it really enjoyable. Also, the stick cut fries are something special and amazing about them where they're not like your average fry, it felt more like a In-N-Out fresh fry, but less soggy , I wonder how they do it, it's definitely delicious. The grilled eggplant was also surprisingly nice, I like eggplant and I really enjoyed this eggplant. For the amount of food and sides that's piled on and a price tag of about $30 for each plate. I'd say the value is definitely there. One thing that was noticeably mentionable was the tahini and hummus was served with the hummus on the bottom, and the tahini poured inside the hummus. I wonder if I can ask them to serve it on the side next time. There was something about the hummus that was not the best tasting hummus, and the tahini was not as amazing compared to the rest of the plate, which is kind of a hard ce since I feel like the rest of the plate was absolutely amazing read more

It was so many years I had not been to Tel Aviv Grill! I truly love that Israeli place: it was the first time for my friends to try it, and they all loved it! I'll do your order your food and pay at the register, with your receipt go to the next counter and tell them what selection of vegetables and other items you want.... I have to admit that their service is excellent: the stuff is very friendly and very attentive and professional I had the ribeye plater: I like mine rare and that's exactly how they cooked it to perfection! I also really love the white cabbage salad and red cabbage salad!
