But nooooo. Mr. B can smell sinfully yummy calories, even with a bag over his head, a mile away. Their specialty... chocolate croissants. Thus, we let Artisanal Goods lure us in. No parking, way too busy, way too full to seat us, a line bursting out the door, the tiny bakery cafe still seduced us. That is, Mr B circled the block in the car but pushed me out to get in line. It was the idea of a flaky, buttery, chocolate croissant crumbling all over his shirt that made him do it. And I had no intention of saying no. The line went quickly. The last Kouign Amann had just escaped my clutches to the guy in front of me, darn it. But there were still trays upon trays of freshly baked, massive chocolate croissants displayed in their custom, wood display case right next to the register. Sorry about no pictures, but you know how things get out of hand sometimes. However if you want to experience an orgasm in pastry form, I suggest you high tail it here.

A good croissant should have some elasticity lacking here. - Pain au chocolat: quite large with maybe too much chocolate.But the flavor was on point. I liked it but my wife thought the extra chocolate was too much of the good thing. She reminded me that in the pain au chocolat in France, you actually feel the chocolate under the tooth at each bite. Between the two, I would get the plain croissant next time. Final thoughts: These pastries are more expensive than in other places( pain au chocolat for almost $7 and croissant for $5.5). Would I come back: yes to get the plain croissant.

Even though there are signs everywhere saying that it takes 15-20 minutes for the souffle pancakes to be cooked, ours came out super quickly, in 5 minutes or so. We got it with the sauce on the side, but I regret doing that as I saw others getting it with the sauce on top and it was beautiful. The pancake was super fluffy and a bit eggy as well. We all really enjoyed it with the mango sauce. I made the mistake of eating the pancake first before trying a sip of my tea. The pancake was pretty sweet, so I could barely taste my drink, but I think it was good? I could taste a bit of the lemon but definitely not the white peach, which is a lighter flavor. I got a slice of their Hokkaido cheese cake roll for $7 to go and had it the next day. It was okay but definitely a bit pricy for what you get. I'd love to come back to try their other desserts and pancakes!

I've been going to the original for a number of years. I'll just make a few comparison points between the original & the New Euro Pane Bakery Cafes. Bakery items: Quality excellent & quantity is good at both but the New has the edge because of greater quantity. Soups: Very good at both. However, normally 2-3 soups at New, while only a soup of the day at the Old. Sandwiches: Maybe The Best sandwich place in Pasadena!!!! No Kidding. However they are a bit better tasting at the Old place. Even their World Famous Egg Salad sandwich (ess) is still a little better at the Original. In fact, their ESS is only the 3rd best sw at EPane in my humble opinion! They have 2 others I would want to eat 1st! Service: usually a weak point with eateries, including EuroPane. However, service is as good as it's ever been there since I've been going. But I sense a slightly friendlier vibe at the original. Customers: basically each Euro Pane has it's own distinctive brand of customer. Shoppers, tourists, Government workers at the New. The original has a greater mix of old-timers & local Pasadenan's. Ambiance: you don't go here if that is one of your top 2 concerns. Unpretentious especially at the original EP. Quality food, pastries, & good Jones Roasters coffee at a relatively good price is what you want here. Overall, it's a High-5!! to now have 2 Euro Pane Bakery Cafes in Pasadena - similar but different, with their own strengths! read more

I visited this café hoping to start my day on a positive note, but unfortunately, the service was quite disappointing. The lady at the counter -- an older woman wearing glasses -- was noticeably rude to me. She wasn't wearing a name tag, so I can't identify her by name. What made the experience more uncomfortable was that she seemed warm and friendly to the customer before me, speaking what I believe was Spanish. But with me, as an Asian customer, her demeanor changed drastically -- curt, unwelcoming, and unpleasant. I'm not sure what the reason was, but it felt discriminatory. No one should be made to feel uncomfortable or unwelcome, especially at a place that serves the public. I hope the management addresses this kind of behavior, as it can truly ruin someone's day. read more

How an egg sandwich be so good?!?!!! This egg sandwich is something else from the bread they use to the way they cook the egg. It is heavenly. But even better are their macarons. They are by far the best I've had. And I have tried them even from the most famous one from Paris!!! My favorite is the Salted Caramel and the Passion fruit. They are on the pricy side but they are bigger than the normal sized macarons. They give you more for what you are paying for. I have been to both locations. I think the one closer to old town the parking is a little harder to deal with than the one closer to PCC. Come to this place to grab some pastries for the foodie. They will be impressed! read more

Neat store and restaurant and you can stand street side to look in the windows and watch bread being made you can also smell this very same bread being made, and it smells so good. So many different kinds, including breads in fun shapes . We stopped back several times to buy assorted baked goods and items for our kitchen and friends. A trip to Pasadena requires a true sourdough tasting experience, and this put all breads back home to shame. If only it weren't so far away from home Minneapolis. Nice little outdoor eating area alongside the pier, as well as inside seating. read more

Flies, Flies, Flies and smidgen of poor customer service. Europane offers some of the best pastry offerings I've yet found in California and unlike many self styled 'European Bakeries' these actually are reminiscent of real European cafe fare. To top it off it is close to work so i figured I had a great daily go-to place. Unfortunately, it was not meant to be - this place makes absolutely no effort to control flies - the main glass display has no back doors allowing flies to buzz around inside and land on everything - absolutely disgusting. read more

This place employs a sexual predator. My 20 year old sister worked here and she was sexually harassed and assaulted by Cesar, the cook. She was moved to the other location but now that it's closing, she's lost her job. Rather than side with the victim, Europane has decided to keep the sexual predator on. It is an experience to come to the Euro Pane Bakery. They have a museum and you can watch the sourdough being made. That said, the food is only okay other than the sourdough bread, which is good. The Clam chowder and the bisque taste artificial and the oysters are small. Also overpriced. read more

My friend follows Panos on IG and I saw a pic of za'atar flatbread. I LOVE za'atar! It's a blend of herbs/thyme, sesame seeds and sumac. I was warmly greeted but quickly told they didn't have much left. They were busy today. Which is fine. I should have come earlier! He said that they make batches of the foods in the morning. He only had one za'atar flatbread left. Well that's what I came for!!!!!!! I also got the last three spinach and cheese boreg. I immediately went to my car and tried the flatbread while it was warm. The edges were crispy, just how I like it! I would have liked just a little more za'atar, but that is my own preference. This Za'atar flatbread is one of top three!!! So glad I don't have to Glendale or Pomona if I'm ever craving za'atar!!!

I recently had the pancake breakfast TWICE this week, and I don't know what took me so long to get it. Pancakes were fluffy, eggs cooked to order, and a generous portion of bacon. Yum! My bestie got the Lomitos Scramble and she said the pork was tender, the potatoes perfect. Yahaira's Cafe just does breakfast right!

This South Pasadena sandwich shop is located right in the heart of town and thanks to some coffee shops and antique stores, this sandwich shop couldn't have a better location in the area. I've completely forgot the name of the sandwich I ordered, but it was a turkey club with bacon, veggies, and a sauce I truly don't know the name of. Even though I was pretty bad at describing everything above, the sandwich itself was very good and took me back to the old East Coast sandwich shops I used to visit back in the day. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the staff who made it was very friendly too. On top of the sandwich, I also had a lemonade and that was also very good. Overall, The Munch Company is the perfect little sandwich shop in South Pasadena and the perfect place to have a nice lunch. Any complaints from me? Not really, so shutup and come order a sandwich.
