A nice sandwich.
Steven M.

The name of a place can sometimes be all I need to walk in and order some food, and that's definitely what happened when my wife and I strolled by The Munch Company. This South Pasadena sandwich shop is located right in the heart of town and thanks to some coffee shops and antique stores, this sandwich shop couldn't have a better location in the area. I've completely forgot the name of the sandwich I ordered, but it was a turkey club with bacon, veggies, and a sauce I truly don't know the name of. Even though I was pretty bad at describing everything above, the sandwich itself was very good and took me back to the old East Coast sandwich shops I used to visit back in the day. All the ingredients tasted fresh and the staff who made it was very friendly too. On top of the sandwich, I also had a lemonade and that was also very good. Overall, The Munch Company is the perfect little sandwich shop in South Pasadena and the perfect place to have a nice lunch. Any complaints from me? Not really, so shutup and come order a sandwich.

Hibiscus Basil Tea
Wilver T.

The Green Monster was a fantastic option for lunch. The greens were very fresh and the garlic aioli was delicious. Enjoyed the Hibiscus Basil tea and 10/10 no notes. Super crisp and refreshing. Super cozy forest Cafe feel. Can't wait to come back and sit under the fiddle leaf fig canopy. Service was wonderful and fast.

Ordered sandwiches to go, my friend and I wanted to try different flavors so we bought 4 different half sandwiches to share between the two of us -- the flavors were nice, but the portions felt a bit small. I was still a little hungry after finishing two half sandwiches, and I wish there had been more protein in them. It would be a better fit for a lighter bite or snack, but personally, I prefer something a bit more filling.

Green Monster on roll with cheddar - DELICIOUS
Aurora L.

I'm not much of a sandwich person but this place has CHANGED MY WORLD. The Green Monster is TO DIE FOR. I got mine on a French roll and swapped the provolone for cheddar--10/10 decision. I honestly didn't know a sandwich like this could exist. * The avocado spread ties everything together so perfectly. * There's a generous stack of turkey. * The cheddar stands out in every bite, just how I like it. * You can truly taste the love and pride in the way it's made. On top of all that, the owner (I spoke with the husband) was incredibly sweet and kind. He mentioned that he and his wife have kept the original menu from the previous owner, knowing how loved this shop is by the community. I'm officially a forever customer :)

I think this place had a change in owners, the people that used to be behind the counters have changed but I'm glad the taste and quality of the sandwiches haven't! We usually get the Turkey Fig and Brie, and Ham Apricot and Manchego sandwiches. Both are good, but my definite favorite is the Turkey Fig and Brie! The ingredients are always fresh and the bread is never stale. It usually takes them less than 5-10 mins to whip up our orders. It's quant inside, a hand full of tables with chairs and some greenery decor adorns the walls. The new people behind the counter are nice, seems like a Chinese couple that's running the shop now! I'm glad this place is still open, hope they remain so! Def give this place a try and support small businesses! (:

Beyond its innovative drinks, the café offers an impressive lineup of freshly baked pastries made in-house, ensuring there's something to suit every palate. From the moment our order arrived, the vibrant presentation left us even more excited to dig in. **Banana Cream Matcha: 4/5** The Banana Cream Matcha reimagined the classic matcha latte with a decadent twist. Topped with a luscious layer of banana-infused foam and crunchy almond toffee, it offered a satisfying textural contrast, while the housemade banana purée, featuring chunks of real banana, delivered a fresh, naturally sweet flavor. The latte was exceptionally smooth and creamy, but it leaned a bit too milky, causing the matcha's earthy notes to become fairly subdued. It was also slightly sweeter than my preference, making it feel more like a dessert-inspired matcha than a true matcha-forward latte. **Pistachio Croissant: 5/5** This was easily the highlight of our order. The croissant featured an incredibly flaky, crispy exterior that gave way to a light, airy interior with beautiful buttery layers. It was generously filled with a rich, nutty cream that accentuated the pistachio's deep, roasted flavor while maintaining just the right amount of sweetness. Finished with a white chocolate pistachio drizzle and a delicate dusting of powdered sugar, every bite was indulgent yet perfectly balanced. Overall, Danbi Coffee shows plenty of promise through its specialty drinks and well-executed pastries. While I'd love to see a bolder matcha presence in their lattes, the exceptional pistachio croissant alone gives me every reason to return and explore the rest of their menu.

But nooooo. Mr. B can smell sinfully yummy calories, even with a bag over his head, a mile away. Their specialty... chocolate croissants. Thus, we let Artisanal Goods lure us in. No parking, way too busy, way too full to seat us, a line bursting out the door, the tiny bakery cafe still seduced us. That is, Mr B circled the block in the car but pushed me out to get in line. It was the idea of a flaky, buttery, chocolate croissant crumbling all over his shirt that made him do it. And I had no intention of saying no. The line went quickly. The last Kouign Amann had just escaped my clutches to the guy in front of me, darn it. But there were still trays upon trays of freshly baked, massive chocolate croissants displayed in their custom, wood display case right next to the register. Instead of feeling welcomed, I felt like I was inconveniencing them just by ordering. A friendly attitude goes a long way, and that was completely missing. The coffee was even more disappointing. It had almost no flavor and tasted watered down, especially for the price. I expected a quality drink, but it was bland and absolutely not worth what I paid. To make matters worse, we were told to leave the patio an hour before the shop was even closing. If the patio has different hours, that should be clearly communicated instead of asking paying customers to leave early. Overall, this was a frustrating experience. Between the unfriendly service, flavorless coffee, and being asked to leave well before closing, I won't be coming back. There are plenty of other cafés in Pasadena that offer much better coffee and treat their customers with respect.

Service has been fine; you can order from a touch screen or at the end of the counter. Unfortunately, the quality has been hit or miss lately. We have enjoyed the lavender latte and pistachio toddy latte, as well as the burrito. However, a few recent misses include: - Pistachio croissant with an overpowering alcohol flavor, like someone used too much pistachio extract instead of real pistachios. - The matcha banana latte tasted very watery and bitter, and didn't seem to make the most of either flavor. It somehow added up to less than the sum of its parts, which was a bummer for $9.50. - Not exactly a miss, but the person behind the counter cautioned me that the coffee cake I tried to order was too stale. I appreciated that . . . but why are stale pastries even on display? We have also had several false starts attempting to order things on the menu that they are all sold out of. This isn't the end of the world, but when it happens multiple times, it starts to feel like the signage is more for decor than information about what's truly available. I also had a strange experience trying to use the restroom. I could barely reach it behind all of the storage, and even when I did get inside, I could not for the life of me find the light switch and had to use my phone's flashlight to see. This was a while ago, so maybe this part is better now, but it contributed to the overall feeling that things are not quite on track. I hope that they can resolve whatever issues are happening behind the scenes, because this is exactly the kind of place we want to support, and I still think it has a lot of potential!
