To Whom It May Concern, Tomas - does a great job of explaining his work and the rationale for the repairs. I have 3 German cars - VW Passat 2001 4motion, 2002 S6 Avant, and a 2010 TTS. I found this shop through yelp and have taken my cars to various mechanics through the years. I am not wealthy and I drive a modified Audi s6 2002 and always wanted one In college. Some mechanics will not touch modified cars. I took my car here a few months ago after acquiring the RS6 wheel so I can have paddle shifters and more recently added the shift knob. Tomas did the work quickly at a fair price. Some places will not do that kind of thing and he took care of it no questions asked. I am having him also replace a transmission differential. For those of us that are not mechanically inclined but have appreciation for these aging German cars - Tomas knows his stuff and I never feel like I am wasting his time. I feel like I found a real expert for my cars - if you have an early 2000s Audi or VW - do yourself a favor and check out his shop. These cars are beginning to get rare and they require upkeep. Sadly, his father Frank passed away last year, which besides the emotional impact, has reduced the amount of manpower available to do repairs, so as Tomas notes in one or two reviews, he's now a one man shop. The owner here is awesome! Brought my mom's 2012 Audi in since it was making a weird sound. Did not call and did not make an appointment but the owner was super friendly and was willing to help me out then and there. Keep in mind that I showed up about half an hour before closing. He took a peak at the car and was able to diagnose the problem in just a few minutes. He quoted me a fair price and said that I could leave the car there for the night and he would get to work in the morning and I would be able to have it back by the end of the next day. Since I was not expecting such service I told him that I wouldn't be able to leave it overnight since I had no way to get home and that I can bring it back the next day. He said that was fine BUT THEN he offered to drop me off at where ever I had to go. (HELLO??? Who does that?!... THIS GUY!!!) I kindly accepted his offer and asked if he could drop me off at the BART station. I came back the next day with my mom and the car was all ready for us, just like he said. I could not have been more pleased with my experience here. And best thing is that the car is working like new again!! It's been few weeks and I still haven't had any issues come up!! My mom and I has agreed that we are never taking this car anywhere else! read more

When it comes to my Audi, I have a huge distrust of some mechanics, even with the Audi Dealership at times. I always feel they give me the run-around, and make up false needed repairs. The mechanic I went to before this place screwed a lot of things up, so it was a sigh of relief when I found this place. Tomas is the best, always attentive, lays out in detail what is going on, and gives you the quote with the labor included so you know exactly what you're paying. Extremely knowledgable, and if he doesn't know, he will make sure he finds out for future. I finally feel confident that when I bring my car in for a clicking noise, I'm not going to be bombarded with ridiculous repairs that aren't needed, just because they want to make some money. Place itself is a little hard to find, drove past it a couple times, until I finally spotted it. Its literally right next to the Subaru dealership, down the hill. It's a little cramp down there, but a AAA flatbed is able to make its way down there and turn around, so you're good. conclusion: both Tomas and Frank are just two honest people who care about their customers, and their cars. read more

He is also very knowledgeable about the cars he works on. I saw an ad for this shop on craigslist and decided to check it out and bring my Allroad in. I was a little weary at first because his shop is hidden from view behind the Mazda dealership but when I saw (I kid you not) five other Allroads and two A6's I felt more comfortable because I knew he obviously knows what he's doing. The cost of his work was well cheaper than the dealership and Porboys and felt the quality exceeded both as well. When I needed the Voltage Regulator on my Audi replaced I was short on funds and he was nice enough to tell me how to change it myself which saved me a few hundred dollars. He'll even pick you up and drop you off from the BART station (only a mile away) for convenience. read more

My wife and I have been working with Tomas since 2005. He is honest, hard working and diligent. He has worked on four Audi's and one Saab for us. He is my car psychologist. I first brought him my beloved S-4 Avant just before it came off warranty. Tomas gave me a list of 5 things to have Audi repair. His inspection cost me $100 and the repairs cost Audi $2,500. A few years later I was buying new tires for the same car at a national tire store. They told me my brakes were shot and needed immediate replacement. I called Tomas who laughed at the assessment. I got another two years out of the brakes. When the S-4 died, Tomas sold us a used S-6 Avant and offered to change the transmission from an automatic to 6 speed that you could only get in Europe. Who does that? Tomas does. Lastly, knowing I was missing my S-4 he advised me to try to find a 2008/2009 RS4. I found a near pristine one but the buyer would not budge on price. Brought it to Tomas for a pre-purchase inspection. He identified that rats had been eating some of the hoses and most surprising to the owner that the car had been completely repainted. I got a price reduction then. We have referred lot's of friends to Tomas. Look at the number of 5 star ratings and the very few morons who give him a 1 star rating. If you love your car and want to keep it running without exorbitant dealer charges then Tomas is your mechanic. read more

Great experience with Tomas and Frank. I have left a previous shop that said I needed Shocks, Tires, and a coolant regulator. They were aggressive so I shopped around. European was recommended. I couldn't be happier. I went from thinking I needed to sell my car because of an anticipated $3000 bill. Ultimately I was able to get my repairs done for $590. The other shop was selling me stuff I didn't need. My x5 was fixed better than I hoped. They even figured out how to get my keyless entry to work for free. Good people. True craftsmen. However, I was a little annoyed that they added a license plate frame without my permission. If they want to advertise on my car how about offer me a free car wash or something? I have an Audi and these guys (tomas and his dad frank) come highly recommended. They run a clean, first rate shop. It is hard to find someone knowledgable to work on Audi's other than stealers, I mean dealers. I was a little put off that they didn't want to deal with my extended service contract, but I now know that these companies are in the business of making it hard for the owner and mechanic to make claims. There prices seem a little high to me (though lower than dealer), but they do seem worth it. MAKE SURE YOU GET A WRITTEN QUOTE BEFORE LEAVING YOUR CAR HERE. My husband called in and was quoted $400 by Tomas for a transmission service. He called back to make sure it included a filter, and was quoted $480. He brought the car in, had a few words with Tomas regarding using the "best parts", and LEFT WITHOUT A WRITTEN QUOTE. Big mistake. When I come in to pick up my car, the bill is a whopping $765.91, way beyond our budget. For a routine transmission fluid service (we even drained the transmission fluid for him), Tomas billed me for: Labor (3 hours): $360 ZF filter kit w/ drain plugs: $171.50 ZF transmission fluid (6 qt): $198 California Waste Fee: $5 I called my husband who was at work. He became very upset at the blatant discrepancy, but was not able to deal with the situation from work. When I told Tomas I had heard him quote my husband $480 on the other end of the phone, he denied ever quoting that amount. When I became visibly upset, Tomas took off $50 and redirected the situation to my failing axles which would cost me another $1800. Conclusion: I was not present when the car got dropped off. I did not sign a repair order. My husband did not getting anything in writing. Tomas denied everything. I got stuck paying the bill. A lot of mistakes were made along the way on our part, which I have no choice but to take full responsibility for. But this business owner disappointed me with his lack of accountability, transparency, and integrity. read more

THINKING ABOUT HAVE THESE GUYS WORK ON YOUR CAR? Save the phone call, the owner is a complete jerk. Called in recently to get a simple quote & was told it was too late in the day to provide any quotes & that I would have to call back tomorrow. To make it easy I offered to give a call back number so that they could work up a quote and call me back at their leisure the next day. No big deal right? Wrong! I was rudely told that he couldn't be bother to find a pen nearby and that he wouldn't be able to help plus that I could call back and leave a voicemail if I really wanted to. At this point I asked who I was speaking to and the gentlemen responded "I'm the owner.. WHO ARE YOU?". Not a great way to speak to a potential client so I told him so and said goodbye. This jerk had the audacity to use caller ID and call my cell back just to chew me out some more and then hang up again. Funny how after all that he had plenty of time be a jerk but not enough time to take down a name and phone number... Simple advice: if you don't want to take a phone call because it's too late then DON'T. The last thing you should do is take the call and then act like you can't be bothered. If these guys are this rude to a first time customer, I can't imagine what would happen if you let them service your car or had any real issues. Save yourself the trouble and take your car elsewhere. read more
