First - not sure what is going on with this business, but they are also listed under Quality 1 Auto - exact same place. You should check those reviews also - not as glowing as they are here. I took my sprinter based motor home to them for an oil change and to replace the glow plugs (check engine light was on. Auto Zone read the codes for me and said it was glow plugs). Scott told me on the phone that Auto Zone reads some kind of "generic codes" and could not be trusted. They would charge me $118 to read the "real factory codes". Okay, fine. I was quoted $179 for an oil change, $118 to read the computer, and $741 (this was the quote after they inspected my vehicle) to replace the glow plugs. They read the computer and told me that I have all kinds of problems - 21 faults. They said my turbo is bad so they want to drive my motor home up and down a steep hill over and over at full throttle to see what is wrong with my turbo. The tech said it is over boosting and would "blow hoses and pipes off and would be very expensive". Fortunately, I went with him for this "test drive" and we did not blow my engine up racing up and down some steep hills (we drove 2 blocks and he said he had what he needed and to go back to the shop). At the end of the day the tech left the original report in my vehicle which was different than the one Scott gave me. The message on this report is "charge pressure is too low" - hardly what would be blowing hoses and pipes off. And after that code was cleared it never reappeared after driving about 60 miles. Next he says there is an error with my DEF module. He says it is "counting down and I will only be able to start my vehicle 10 more times". Oh my, he got what he wanted - my attention. Okay, better fix that. Well.. he says the part will be $1711.79. Oh my, that seems high, but okay. So on the first day I get an oil change, read the codes on my computer, and change the DEF module (took about an hour or so) for $2379.88. Gulp, that hurt. After what went on today (the next day - I will get to that next) I look for the DEF heater part - $715 - retail!. Honestly, I am not even sure it was bad. I watch my instrument panel carefully and there was NO countdown for a limited number of starts going on. Was it actually bad, I don't know. Was it counting down to a lockout - DEFINITELY NOT. On to the glow plugs - Scott tells me that when the glow plugs burn out they also burn out the control module so that must be replaced as well. Control module is $288 plus $391 to install it - wow! This doesn't seem right to me. So I call 2 Mercedes dealers and ask them if the module should be replaced when the glow plugs are replaced. They tell me it is very rare to replace the module but it is a "tune up" item to replace the glow plugs (like spark plugs on a gas vehicle). So at the end of day 1 (oil change and replace DEF module for just under $2400) I tell Scott we will do the glow plugs tomorrow but I will pass on the module (and the $679 up charge). Scott says "no problem". Tomorrow comes (this morning) and we show up for the glow plugs. Scott says they won't do the glow plugs without the module for the price quoted because it is going to be harder than they thought. Well that's okay - I no longer trust you and would not let you touch my vehicle if you were the last mechanic on earth. I have to say - I am VERY disappointed. I really thought this place was going to take good care of my vehicle from the reviews on this account - be sure to check Quality 1 Auto as I said at the start. From my experience, this place is just another low ball you in the door and stick it to you with the fear tactics mechanic shop. Very sad. read more

I came across this place by accident, I was looking for a mechanic on my iphone that could do my brakes and was close by, since I have always taken my car to the Dealer in Escondido. Tired of the dealership, we decided to search out a new place to have our 2008 Passat serviced. Several places in Temecula had excellent Yelp reviews but European Autowerks really caught my attention. I scheduled an appointment online during the weekend and somebody got back to me on Sunday to let me know my appointment time I selected was confirmed. No fuss. I showed up at EA first thing Monday morning. We took a test drive and discussed several maintenance options, but ultimately we decided to just do an oil change and inspection and take it from there. My wife is not a morning person, so I dropped it off and caught a ride home in their shuttle. The person driving me home was extremely friendly and made the ride home fun and not awkward. Several hours later, I received a call from EA telling me that my vehicle had several other non serious maintenance issues that needed to be addressed. We agreed on those services and they gave me a verbal estimate and also sent me some pictures of potential issues. Before closing time they called to let me know that my vehicle would not be ready that evening and we could pick it up in the morning, which was fine because they had several things to do to it. They called before noon the next day and we picked it up. My wife commented on the cleanliness of her vehicle when we drove into the parking lot. They had washed it for her. We went in, they discussed what services were done, we discussed potential future services down the road and we paid the bill which was exactly what was quoted to us. Very pleasant experience. As we were walking out to the car, my wife said "I guess that's why they have all those good reviews on Yelp because of their friendliness and attention to detail." Coming from my wife, that's like a 10 star Yelp review because, like Mikey, she hates everything. read more

I like to keep my 2005 Jaguar XKR in pristine condition and am prepared for the expense of maintaining an exotic supercharged vehicle. Although I live in Murrieta, I traveled to San Juan Capistrano (SJC) to have my car serviced by top mechanics; I did not feel there was anyone locally I could trust. After experiencing some less than satisfactory results on a $3000 brake job, and multiple trips back to SJC to do the job right, I searched for a new shop. I found European Autowerks (EA) and thought I would try them. After several visits, and after dealing with some quirky "Jaguaresque" problems, I find EA to be honest, fair, and knowledgeable. Let me first start by stating that I too thought great things from this shop, however, wolf in sheep clothing!!! I brought my car in to be looked at by these guys, days later we are at almost five thousand dollars, that's right, 5,0000.00!!! After my wife called and asked about why so high, she asked if they were aware of any recall, they stated NO...they seemed eager to start the work, I asked them to wait. I made some calls and found out that what was wrong with my vehicle was under a RECALL!!!! Now a place like this who works on my type of car should have known this or at least offered to check, my wife even asked and they stated NO, there was no recall. During this nightmare, I witness these same guys belittle a senior citizen, they kept giving him a runaround answer to his questions. They were just rude, unprofessional and obnoxious to this poor man. All I will say is as a consumer, beware of this garage and the under handed way they do business. Just an update .....I paid Nothing to get me vehicle fixed, it took three weeks BUT,, again, let me state... There was NO charge due to the recall...this owner and his manager have NO integrity. Make your calls....do your homework first before you decide to take your vehicle here. I only wish I did that first to save the frustration. I can't say I distrust their technical skill, because luckily I got my car out of there after I witnessed their lack of diagnostic abilities. Long story short, they refused to do the work I requested (replace a failing thermostat) unless I also authorized $2000 worth of work which had been done as scheduled maintenance 12,000 miles earlier. When pressed on the logic underlying their diagnosis (for which they wanted to charge me $118), Jason got huffy and told me I was wasting his time. I got the thermostat replaced elsewhere for $150 (they wanted to charge me $395), and now the car runs perfectly. read more

I have an Audi and its been difficult finding a mechanic in the Temecula Valley that I could trust to work on it. I found this place and gave them a try. I'm very disappointed with their rates. I've been taking my car to a shop in San Diego that only works on Audi's and VW's and their rates were much cheaper than European Autowerks. I called the shop and they quoted me $200 less than what this shop is quoting me. Also, their diagnostic fee isn't absorbed into the cost of the repair. So if you agree to have the car fixed you also have to pay the diagnostic fee. I've never heard of a shop that does this and I used to be in the business. Even the dearlership doesn't do that. I recommend if you have an Audi to take it to Pure Motorsports in San Diego. They do excellent work, they're honest and you can't beat their rates. The only reason European Autowerks is doing the work on my car is because I'm unable to get my car to San Diego. I will never use this repair shop again. I will say that they were friendly and the shop is clean. I'm more upset about their rates and the inspection fee not being waived. I can't really comment on the service yet as I haven't got my car back. read more

European Autowerks (EA) recommended unnecessary parts/maintenance on two items. I brought in my '02 BMW 325I for an Inspection II service and for several other mechanical issues on 11/5/14. I selected EA due to their high Yelp ratings. The other items were: (1) a cold-start squeal from the engine belt/pulleys. EA was unable to diagnose this problem as it only happens when the engine is cold, despite having the car all day. The 2nd issue was that both rear windows had difficulty opening and closing. I was charged $104.63 to remove the rear door panels to inspect the door mechanisms. EA told me both rear window switches were faulty, and needed replacement, when actually it was simply that the window lock switch was on which was caught only after I told them to check. I was then told that one of the regulators was faulty, but that EA would need the vehicle overnight at that time to take care of this problem. I could not leave the vehicle, so the repair was not made, but was charged the door panel removal fee nonetheless, even when the other rear window was found to have no issues. I was told after EA's "92 point courtesy" inspection that all 4 struts needed to be replaced due to the car "diving" when braking with an estimate of $1516 including alignment. After not being able to make contact with anyone at EA who assist me on the phone to ask questions and make a follow-on appointment, I took my car to another BMW shop in my area with high Yelp reviews for a second opinion on the struts. The other shop determined that I only needed to replace the lower control arm bushings to fix this issue, for $364 with OEM parts. I elected to do that before replacing all the struts, and have had no further issues with "diving". My BMW has 129K miles with the original struts, but the 2nd shop says they never see that the struts need replacement on this type vehicle. Other "courtesy inspection" issues: EA recommended replacement of a valve cover gasket; the 2nd shop recommended waiting as it was only seeping. Lastly, I asked EA for their advertised "new customer special", which was a $25 service discount. After reminding them a second time, I was still not given the discount, but promised a credit if I came back. Long story, but wanted to include the details. Not the worst experience, but not a good one. -------------------------------------- Rebuttal: The only inaccuracies are in EAs response. I did not receive photos of my struts. It's seems that EA would rather deny and discredit a less than satisfactory review than to provide honest customer service. read more

It felt as i was getting ripped due to paying $90 to test drive my vehicle and there was no diagnosis given. My vehicle was not even put on a lift. They knew before i brought my vehicle in the they would have to drain the transmission pan to remove it to inspect/ troubleshoot my shifting issue. Would not recommend to anybody. I am a big procrastinator and don't ever really write reviews on yelp. But I owe it to this place. I recently inherited a Land Rover that was in excellent condition and soon realized that you can't just take this vehicle anywhere. It had a few leaks and I wanted to get an estimate on getting them fixed and get a 360 inspection. These guys were so informative and provided in detail all issues. They were also kind enough to explain the commitment required for this particular vehicle, which said a lot. They truly looked out for the best interest of the customer instead of doing the job, making money and moving on. This customer service extended well beyond the visit, as they had checked in with me several days after the visit to see if the guidance they had provided me with the sale of the vehicle was going well. As everyone else, I love great customer service and these guys know how to provide it, even if it mean losing out on making money. I just apologize for taking so long to write this review. Place is terrible. They wouldn't even see my car and told me to come back next Wednesday (it's Thursday)I guess they don't need the business

After having been told at my usual mechanic that my wife's 2006 VW Beetle Convertible needed a new or used/rebuilt transmission due to slippage in 1&2nd gear (car only has 50K mi) I decided to get a second opinion and chose EA. Best choice I could have made. When we called and spoke with Scott, he did not give us the expected "yeah sure bring it down, we'll take a look"...he shared his shock with us given the low mileage, asked us tons of questions, described other possibilities and had us hold on as he spoke with John (previous VW tech) who corroborated the unlikeliness that this car needed a new transmission. He immediately made us comfortable that the situation was serviceable and they would do all they could to avoid such a major and possibly drastic service. So we went down and met with Jason and John and the team who are tremendously professional. They all walked out to our car as we inspected things together and they gave advice, thoughts and guidance on what the next steps would be. Within hours we received HD images and a link to YT videos of our car's issues (FANTASTIC, who does this?) We were called and asked to come down to be shown in person exactly what was wrong, how it caused the problems, what the solution was!! I arrived, the raised the car on the rack all the guys said "hey" and we went though it step by step. It was determined initially that the first culprit was a broken/failing transmission mount that was allowing the transmission to drop/sag as well as some transmission pan damage. An inexpensive solution (transmission appeared fine - WHEW) well, after completing the repairs they kept it to take it on an extensive test drive and John did in fact still notice a slight slip...OH CRAP new transmission right? Wrong, EA simply replaced a valve body and we are golden, following a full transmission service. When car needed a front end alignment and new front tires, Jason worked with a local supplier and got me an great, very competitive estimate for tires and alignment, took the car there got it done before washing and drying the car and calling us for pickup...this is World Class Service folks! 3yr/36000 mi nationwide warranty on their work, you simply cannot beat that. Every time we called we got Scott (owner) Jason or Brent. John and I spent some time talking in the shop and I informed him that I was considering a car purchase soon now that my wife's car was squared away and John offered to take a call from me anytime to get his advice/guidance on the reliability or issues etc of any car candidates I might consider. I could not recommend EA any higher!! read more

The team at European Autowerks were great. I had an intermittent engine light in my new to me Mercedes R320 Bluetec. Since I have a family trip to Oregon planned and no time of my own I brought it in. The team worked hard to find the problem. They actually performed systematic troubleshooting, not just replace and hope. I also asked them to do a basic inspection and see if there was anything else wrong. Since it is a used car with 80,000 miles on it, they found issues. Mostly due to an apparent lack of maintenance by the previous owner. While this maintenance was not cheap, because Mercedes Benz just aren't cheap to own, the team was honest and willing to work with me. For each issue they said they had the old parts or failing fluid to show me the issue. Nothing was hidden. When I picked up the car not only did it run better, the codes were cleared and filed at the shop, and the car was washed. At every step the shop made me feel like they were working for me. I don't mind paying more for great service and great work. European Autowerks beats this with reasonable prices and excellent service. read more
