    Lamb dumplings
    Jim B.

I had already been to the military highway location and loved it. My son always wanted to go, but we couldn't find a good time. We decided to go this Monday on his day off. Since they had a second location, I decided we Should try it. The new location is very similar to the original. It is a very small comfortable café. It is nicely decorated. I think there are only about five tables. You order at the counter. Both of us ordered the Borsch. It came with a pirozhuk. Both if them were amazing. We also ordered the lamb dumplings to split. They were out of this world, but definitely pushed us to "stuffed". Our drinks were kompot. It was a delicious cold fruit concoction. I have to say that everyone else besides my son and me were speaking Ukrainian or Russian. Of course, for all I know that might be the same thing. My point is, when you want to eat good ethnic food from another country, find out where the people from that country go to eat it. One last thing... They served our food in plant based paper bowls. Our soup spoons looked like white plastic, but we're also plant based. We also got a set of cutlery with a knife, fork, and spoon that were made out of bamboo. I liked that.

The Chicken Dumplings were very flavorful and the broth savory. The Piroshki was soft, buttery, and flaky. The Chicken Skewer with the Cabbage Slaw was good. The Kompot berry drink was refreshing and not overly sweet. I'm not sure why they served our food with paper plates and disposable utensils as we ordered it to eat there. That was the only disappointment.

European Dumplings Cafe 8065 Callaghan Rd, San Antonio, TX 78230 I never had Ukranian food before, and now I can say that it's one or my favorite type of food! Thank you for the wonderful experience! Ukrainian cuisine is known for its hearty and flavorful dishes, often featuring ingredients like potatoes, cabbage, beets, and grains. Everything I ordered was flavorful and made with love. Here's what I ordered: 1. Borsch: (favorite) Chicken, cabbage, bell peppers, onions, carrots, potatoes cilantro. Topped with sour cream and one Pierogi (filled with mashed potatoes and sautéed onions). 2. Lamb Dumplings (favorite) Topped with cilantro, sesame seed mix, sour cream and red sauce. 3. MEDOVIK (HONEY CAKE) (favorite). #tonylameats #sanantoniotx #europeandumplingscafe #Europeanfood #ukranianfood #foodie #foodadventure #foodielife

Chicken skewer: juicy, well-seasoned, and delicious!

I visited this new location of European Dumplings Cafe as I was in the area for work, and I was SHOCKED to find I was the only customer. I was even more shocked about this when the customer service was thoughtful and attentive. The sweet employee gave me her recommendations as a first-time customer, and she nailed it! Two, the food was spectacular. I mean, truly phenomenal. I will be dreaming about the Varynky for weeks!!! Everything was so flavorful, the portions were filling, and I could tell that ingredients were fresh and the food was made with care. If you are in the area, this is a place to check out. The seating area is small, but quaint. It is tucked away in a corner of a shopping mall near the Sprouts and WORTH seeking out. What a great addition to this part of town!

"The food here is absolutely amazing! This was my first visit, and I tried the traditional soup (starts with a B) paired with a massive, crispy fried empanada stuffed with potatoes. ( well it looks like empanada) It was a perfect match especially if you dip it into the soupThis gastro-pub is a refreshing change of pace from my usual spots. I briefly considered keeping this place a secret, but the food is just too good to hide! It's a charming small cafe tucked away inconspicuously at the corner of Callaghan and I-10. I'll definitely be back soon!" I ordered to go a Chebureki pie in case I'm going to have cravings tonight... just for good measure

    BORSCH BOWL, PIROZHKI, & CHEBUREKI

Absolutely delicious. I've never had Ukraine food & I was HIGHLY impressed. Admittingly so, my husband & I are quick to add salt/pepper to our food- this re did not need ANY salt or pepper. So perfectly seasoned. The owner was extremely kind. We will be back!

When they didn't know the answer to the million questions we had they got it for us from the kitchen staff or manager. Zero pretension. All the kindness. I don't even love wine but the wines I have had there are great! The only cons I do have to say are I wish the menu had more options or when there are specials it's more than one day before they sell out. I LOVE tiramisu and that's the one dessert they do have but I've only been able to order it once because every other time they are sold out and I understand you run out but then there needs to be a second or third option to choose from. I look forward to ordering the tiramisu every time and I haven't been able to in months because they never have it. This is one of my go to places when I do eat out here and I'm happy with getting the same dishes over and over because they are good but I am interested and excited to see what else they add to the menu in the future!!

Ask your waiter lots of questions about what the dishes are and how to eat them. On your way out, ask if you can try on the white papakha hat. Everyone loved these. I wish they served more than just 3 per order. Portion size could've been a little more generous. 3. Beet Salad - super flavorful and very good! 4. Chicken Kebab - this was sadly a disappointment. Very dry and lacked flavor. The rice it was served with was tasty though. Rosé Gosé (note accents) is in an unassuming Airport Blvd location (right next to Jewboy Burgers, an Austin favorite). It is run by a couple from Belarus that came here right after Covid to open up a restaurant, with a sister in Minsk. Defying expectations, the menu is not Balkan at all. If anything, there is a strong Asian influence with poke bowls and a lot of seafood. But the menu also offers beef tartare on their raw bar menu, as well as a steak offering and grilled chicken. It's a diverse and adventurous menu, all the way from small plates to hefty mains and vegetable sides. For the dessert, try the pavlova, a meringue confection stuffed with coconut mousse and topped with lime sorbet and a grapefruit slice sidecar. Everything is superbly presented, and unquestionably fresh and healthy without veering into twigs and berries territory. The cocktail menu is also playful, with a lot of nontraditional glassware and slight spins on popular drinks; their version of a Paloma uses prosecco instead of a splash of soda. The servers are all dressed in rosé jumpsuits and very attentive. The space is amiable and elegant without being pretentious. The table spacing is a little close, so that conversations carry between guests. The table setting has some nice touches, like the little wooden bench that holds your fork and knife off the table. In European fashion, water can be asked for but it won't be served with ice. Plan on taking your time and enjoying course after course.

It's definitely one of the few restaurants in Austin that feels worth dressing up for, which I really appreciate after living in more aesthetic-driven cities. If you have time, I'd recommend taking a little stroll around the estate to soak in the beauty. The interior is lovely, with hanging pothos throughout that brings so much life and greenery into the space while still complementing the overall design. The bar in particular is gorgeous, and I really enjoyed sitting there with my husband for dinner during happy hour, which runs from 5-10 p.m. on Mondays. My martini came out ice cold and exactly how I like it. The snapper crudo was incredibly fresh, with satisfyingly thick slices. The crispy chicken wings were more standard, so I'd probably skip those next time, but the fritto misto was delicious--it felt like their fancier take on tempura, and I loved it. For dessert, they had grapefruit soft serve instead of the pistachio matcha one I've had before. The grapefruit was a little bitter, but still refreshing. That said, I definitely still prefer the pistachio matcha. Overall, I'd absolutely return to Lutie's, whether for another date night or a girls' brunch.
