    Pita Bread 5/2025

Still reigns king as my fave Mediterranean restaurant in San Antonio. Great service with fresh made to order food. The complimentary spicy hummus dip and pita chips themselves are highly addictive. The dip has a slight kick which was awesome. Our server suggested the chicken shawarma over the tawook chicken I originally was going to order, and I'm glad I listened. The chicken shawarma was a flavor bomb. Bursting with ingredients and tied so well with the pickles in the wrap. I ordered the fattoush salad rather than the fries. It was ok, I think I would have preferred a more green lettuce. The mixed shawarma plate could feed at least two people! Everything was so tasty and fragrant. The rice was fluffy and perfectly cooked. Highly recommend their gyro- flavorful, juicy, and moist. The best gyro meat I have ever had. I have found at most places, the gyro to be dry and leathery. Not here. Our bellies were full and happy. Excellent food! Military discount offered

Lebanese comfort, done right. First time at Zaatar, walked in and met by Saïd, our super sweet waiter with the most wonderful smile! He not only answered every question we had about the menu, he was so gracious to get the manager when he wasn't sure on how to explain an item to us. He was prompt and checked on us often, very much appreciated. As an appetizer we tried a cup of the lentil soup, it was so comforting and warming, it had a savory taste. We also tried the falafel appetizer and it tasted so good, flakey, and the sauce it came with was perfection! The falafel tasted so good on its own. My husband and I decided to share one plate, the mixed shawarma plate, it was very big and enough for the both of us. It comes with pita bread! The chicken and gyro meat were so perfectly seasoned, the beef shawarma was good, not great. All the specialty sauces: hummus, garlic and tzatziki were absolutely tasty! We asked for more as it just complimented every bite! The plate also comes with a lemony salad, which went perfectly with every thing! We fell in love with their rice, we ordered a side of just rice! It's absolutely lovely! To drink we got their hot tea, which is black tea and you can choose to have it with natural mint leaves, it was perfection in a cup! The music was traditional Lebanese, which made you feel like you were transported to Lebanon. Will be going back very soon!

Our first time trying Zaatar, definitely not our last time. Excellent food, generous portions, great selection. The service was also good. I would love to get the salad dressing recipe, absolute perfection. Hidden gem.

The food is AMAZZINGGG! We decided to give this place a try after seeing it a couple times, and we were blown away by the food! Its a very quite place and not busy, so we weren't sure what to expect. The plates were a good portion with lots of variety, comes with rice, salad, pickles, and the meat! I got the lamb and it was so tender and I got it medium. I only wished that they gave more meat! Their hummus is the star of the show. I never had 'real' hummus before so I was really surprised by their hummus - it was so creamy, smooth, and it tastes so good with bread and meat. Overall, this is a quaint restaurant with really good food. The service is nice as well.

I came here on my lunch break so I went through the drive thru. I waited about 10 minutes at the window, luckily I was the only one in line but it wasn't as express as I had hoped but all things considered it's not so bad to have your food made fresh to order. The Food was really good, the beef in the calzone was very well spiced, the fries were a little too crispy but not bad and the spicy hummus was very nice and good flavor and not too much heat. I'd definitely come back, probably sit inside though.

The food is absolutely amazing! I got the chicken shawarma plate which was flavorful. The rose drink is refreshing. The servers were nice. It's well decorated.

Shakshuka. Three eggs in a spicy tomato sauce. The dish arrived sizzling and was the perfect brunch meal.

The service was perfect and staff was very friendly. The food was delicious! I had the shakshuka and my husband had a shawarma bowl. The baba ghanoush was a great choice as an appetizer!

This is my first time eating at a Lebanese Grill.. it was wonderful. It's a quaint place and their appetizer was a spicy garlic yogurt mixture with crunchy pita chips.. that was delicious. And I had the lamb kabob plate. It was tasty and comes with a delicious salad which was refreshing. Saaid was my server and he was very kind and sweet. The atmosphere is clean and homey. I also had the rose drink which is the BEST I have had!! I'm definitely coming back when I am in San Antonio, TX!!

Yummy options I don't get to eat every day. Service was kind. The place was pleasant. I'll go back.

I love it when servers, like Zac, are eager to share their magic. I didn't know what to get as I usually gravitate toward my go-tos, but I was feeling adventurous. I asked if he had suggestions. I knew I was in for a treat, when he smiled, and said, "I have my favorites." I loved that he lit up with excitement, when I asked him to put together some of his favorites for me. To drink, he brought me the Rose (perfect balance of rose and lemon); to eat, he surprised me with the Farouj Meshwi in a wrap (juicy charcoal grilled chicken), and instead of fries he wanted me to try the Roasted Garlic Potatoes, which are tossed with lemon, garlic, and cilantro. It was all so flavorful. Delicious evening in food and company.

Chicken Shawarma Quesadilla (for my friend -he loved it) and I tried the Lamb Kabob Plate (a bit dry).

The vibe here was relaxed and the food was different, but just ok. By far, best part of my meal was my Mousey drink and the attentive server. But the table across from us had food all over it and the floor and it stayed that way for the duration of our meal. My gyro plate had pretty dry meat and rice. Oh but...my salad was pretty yummy. Worth a try.

I loved the meze platter since there was a sampling of 5 of their different appetizers. Everything on the platter tasted very fresh and was delicious. The ali nazik was a bit more lackluster: the side salad could have been fresher and the grilled jalapeño was only half grilled (it tasted raw); the rice was a little mushy; and the lamb was a bit over seasoned. Service was a bit slow, and you have to wave down the one server at times since she was hidden behind the front counter most of the time. We tried the babganoush appetizer, which is an eggplant dip, served with pita. I wish the pita had more of a crisp or toastiness to them. It was very bready, but still went great with the dip. The eggplant doesn't look appetizing to most, but I love its flavor and it was seasoned nicely with some acidity/brightness to it. For our entrees, we had the falafel plate and a gyro wrap. My gyro wrap was a good serving size, and I opted for no fries/side salad since we had the appetizer. It was a traditional gyro, but I wish there were lettuce and tomato in it to cut the saltiness. I ate the leftover babaganoush with it for balance. The falafel plate was great! It came with 6 large falafels that were very crisp! Everything else in the bowl complimented it nicely. The menu has a lot of other options we'd love to try! We wish we ordered a tea or chai pot to go with our meal, or tried one of their specialty coffee. Next time! The service was great when we came, but it was in the middle of the day so we were the one ones there. Regardless we felt very welcome and looking forward to coming back!
