Love this restaurant!! It is very homey and they have delicious food that tasted fresh. I wish I knew about this spot when I lived in San Antonio because I would've added it to my rotation. It's very cute , casual, and cozy in here. Big menu with lots of things to try! Quick and friendly service.

I love the atmosphere of this little restaurant. The food was tasty and the serving staff very hospitable. Not a lot of vegetarian options however.

Solid Greek spot. Humble, authentic, delicious. 10 out of 10 would return again. Service was very friendly, the hero was predictably delicious.

This restaurant has fast and friendly service. When I walked in, I felt like I was in Greece. The place is so beautifully decorated. I ordered the 10A. It was a gyro with fries and a drink. The gyro was mad fresh and fast. I absolutely love their tzatziki sauce. I consider this place a 10 out of 10!

One of our favorites. The service is always great and they are always welcoming. Quiet and quaint restaurant. The food is always good. I usually get the chicken gyro plate but I changed it up and I'm glad I did. I found another great meal. We will definitely come again.

My son and I came with my parents for lunch and it was so much fun to take in all of the murals and decorations. The staff was warm and welcoming, providing wonderful service. Their lunch special menu is fantastic, I had the lamb gyro, side salad, their lemon/chicken/rice soup and a drink. It was delicious! My son enjoyed his kids chicken kebab and fries. My parents loved their meals and topped it off with baklava with we all shared and loved. It wasn't too sweet so it hit the spot. I wish I took more pics but I was enjoying my food so much I forgot. We will definitely be back to our local Greek spot!

The combo appetizer is the best dish to order for sharing and getting to try authentic and delicious Greek flavors. We always have a great time here with very upbeat and friendly servers and manager who goes around checking on everyone. The patio is so nice we always choose to sit outside and it's even heated over the winter.

We had a meeting here tonight for a church men's group of about 10 people. I have never been here before even though I've lived in the area for many years. I had always heard good things about this place and those reports were true. Very good food and excellent service. The restaurant is very casual and comfortable as is the food which is delicious! My only regret is not trying the Greek coffee and any of their desserts, which looked fabulous! I will make sure that those are on the list for the next time I come.

This past Monday, hubby had dinner with friends so it was Daddy-daughter dinner for us. I took Dad to @johnthegreeksa for dinner. It's been a while since we last visited. Dad and I both had Lemonade. I ordered the Sampler Plate for us, which had the hummus, Tirkokafteri, Skordalia, and Tzatziki with two pitas. Most of this was soft for Dad. He had forgotten he had tried these before. I also ordered the Traditional Gyro with the avgolemono soup, which was chicken, rice, celery, carrots, eggs, and lemon sauce. Dad enjoyed the soup and we shared the gyro. We were already full so no desserts for us. Maybe next time!

My friends and I decided to try John the Greek while in San Antonio as it was a place we hadn't been before. The staff was very friendly and did a great job and the restaurant itself was nice and casual as well. While dining at John the Greek, I tried the following: - Lamb Meatballs w/ Tzatiki: Delicious! - Lunch Special (Traditional gyro, greek salad, french fries and drink): The salad was good and fresh, the french fries were OK and the meat was a bit dry but all together it was a good lunch - Cookies/ Desserts: The desserts at the front counter looked good but ended up being pretty dry. I wouldn't order these again.

Nothing tastes homemade anymore, even the salad was lacking dressing and tasted like dirt. The feta sauce was completely different, strong lemon flavor and texture was runnier. Not tasty, more overwhelming. My chicken skewers had 4 pieces on it that were 'weird' and inedible. Bread wasn't worth the calories. I used to love the bread! This used to be one of the best restaurants in San Antonio, no more. My husband said it felt like a breakup dinner last night with how stark the quality has declined. I did notice less familiar faces in the staff as well. Way too expensive to be cutting corners in the food. Feels like any other run of the mill Mediterranean spot now. We are saddened to not come back.

Our twelve guests ranged in age from 14-79 years, and everyone had a wonderful experience. We began with waters for the table, soft drinks, and cocktails/mocktails (Man Walks into a Bar, Amba No. 5, Don Alberto, Green Shug Collins). Due to our large party, we had booked a chef's tasting experience, which was spectacular. The appetizers were plentiful, flavorful, and unique. Our server, Anissa, did a wonderful job of explaining each dish-- its components, highlights, even suggesting that after finishing the beef dumplings, we stir the oil and yogurt together for an amazing pita dipping sauce. Our meal included four meats-- actually five, considering an off menu chef's creation for our pescatarian guest. It was such an immersive experience, I never took out my phone to capture photos of the food (or our group, sadly). Three desserts topped off the evening. When (not if) we return, we'll certainly request Anissa again. She made the evening a complete delight, even bringing out celebratory candles for our honored guests.

Overall, I'd say most of the people in our group probably would not go back, but I don't necessarily think that was because the food was bad or lacking flavor. I think a lot of us just weren't very accustomed to Mediterranean flavor profiles and this style of dining. Most of us really enjoyed the dips, the meats, and the desserts. Those were definitely the standout parts of the meal for our group. Some of the dishes in between were a little more questionable for us personally -- we tried everything, but there wasn't necessarily one specific dish we completely fell in love with. That being said, the experience itself was amazing. The atmosphere was so cool and unlike anything we had done before. Being served course after course and getting to experience so many different dishes made the meal feel really unique and memorable. All of the staff members who waited on us were absolutely fantastic and so understanding of some of our questioning looks while trying unfamiliar foods. Everyone was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made the experience feel fun and comfortable from start to finish. If you already love Mediterranean food, this place may be right up your alley. I just think it's good to know what kind of flavor profiles to expect before coming, especially if you're newer to this type of cuisine. Overall, we still had a great time there.

This is easily one of the best halal and gyro-style spots I've tried in Texas. The prices are great, and the portions are fair and filling. The chicken was perfectly seasoned with a light spice, the rice was soft, and the vegetables were fresh. Honestly, I'd choose NY Gyro King over CAVA or Chipotle any day--the food tastes fresher, the portions are just as good or better, and the value is hard to beat. The excellent customer service made the experience even better. I'll definitely be back.

His usual menu consists of pizza, chicken nuggets, and not much else. Getting him to try something new is usually a challenge. To my surprise, he tried the gyro and actually loved it. Not just a few bites--he genuinely enjoyed it. Any restaurant that can win over a picky eater deserves some recognition. The food was fresh, flavorful, and generously portioned. The meat was well-seasoned, the ingredients tasted fresh, and everything came together perfectly. It's the kind of place that's approachable for people who are new to Mediterranean food while still being delicious enough for those who already love it. Great food, great experience, and a rare family dining win. We'll definitely be back for more gyros.

Some restaurants feed you. Tripoli's transports you. From…read morethe moment you walk in, the space does something to you -- warm lighting, tufted banquettes, burgundy velvet chairs with gold legs, and a ceiling panel with intricate geometric lattice work straight out of a Moroccan riad. It doesn't feel like a strip mall restaurant. It feels intentional. The pastry case alone deserves its own review. Piped butter cookies, rose-dotted squares dusted with cardamom, delicate filled rolls -- it's the kind of display that makes you order dessert before you've even sat down. And then the food. The chicken shawarma bowl is not playing around -- seasoned chicken, kalamata olives, crumbled feta, creamy garlic sauce over a bed of greens, finished with cracked pepper. Every bite is layered and bold. The kind of meal that makes you pause mid-fork and just appreciate it. What sets Tripoli's apart isn't just the food or the ambiance. It's that the whole experience feels curated. Like someone who actually loves this culture built this place and meant every single detail. San Antonio has been sleeping on this gem. Wake up!!

I had a hard time walking out without calling for the manager or owner. I would like to start my…read morepost with the positive so here it goes. The ambiance was great, everything from the decorative rugs, Arab writing on the wall, tagine pottery and brass crafts were perfectly displayed. The tabbouleh salad was very tasty, it had the right amount of ingredients making it pretty as well as colorful placed in the neat brass metal bowl. Now with the things that require immediate remedial attention: 1. The burger was overrated, overcooked and dry. 2. The chick pea salad lacked chick peas, dressing, onions and feta cheese. 3. The lamb Kofta plate was prepared right however, it was not enough meat for the price and the cream sauce tasted like straight butter with a hint of garlic. The pita bread was lukewarm and looked like it had been unwrapped, quartered and thrown in a microwave for 30 seconds prior to serving it. 4. Drinks Ordered: The Cafe' Arabia was very tasty BUT, I didn't get it until we were almost done with our meal. We ordered drinks when we were first seated so that was a big red flag. My wife also ordered the Moroccan mint teapot and she didn't get it until after I got my coffee. I told the barista/waiter to cancel it when I got my coffee but he said it was also ready for us and could put it in a to-go cup for her. That kind of defeated the whole experience of drinking tea while waiting for our meal. 5. The service was really slow. Took over 15 minutes to get our (tap) waters and 20 minutes for our food when we were the only ones in the restaurant until we had placed our order. 6. The waitress needs some serious people skills and bussing training to know how to serve food and drinks. She touched the tops of the glasses her fingers. She didn't greet us and practically dropped the plates on the table when she brought them out. To add insult to injury, she put the handheld pay device on the table without asking us if we wanted or needed anything else. My kids wanted to try out some desserts, so luckily for us, the nearby HEB has plenty to offer. I had high hopes for this place because of what the owner posted on Instagram and it is so close to our neighborhood. Guess we will have to continue driving further into the city to other Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern restaurants that have better food and service.
