Stopped in here last weekend to test out another tailoring option here on the eastside. The tailor here (Mimet) came highly recommended from someone who's worked in the Men's clothing business for years. And the recommendation is well deserved! I called in on a saturday morning, and got a quote from Mimet over the phone. I needed to have a suit jacket taken in a bit, and the rate he quoted me was more than reasonable. I stopped in and knew instantly that I was in the realm of a seasoned pro. As mentioned by one of the other reviewers, not only do you get your clothing professionally fitted when you come in here, but you also get a proper schooling on some of the finer points of men's furnishings and fittings. I'd been looking for a tailor for a while and I wanted an honest to goodness tailor. Not a seamstress. A seamstress is what you'll find at any dry cleaner and they'll do a fine job fixing your buttons or a minor rip. But if you want your suit done (hem, waist of pants, waist of jacket, and sleeves). Or a ripped pant hem repaired and still done with the original (or as original as it can be) hem. Then you want a real tailor. A real tailor will size you and tell you what looks good on you. But he'll also listen to you if you're really going for a certain look. Robert is real tailor. I started out by having him repair certain pants that I hadn't hemmed properly and seeing how he did with those. Then I brought him some damaged ties, a top coat with a tear, and finally started having him fix some of my suits. He never failed to do less than a stellar job and he as he did more work, we built up a great relationship where he knew what I was looking for and could help me decide on what I wanted. I now feel free recommending him to all my friends, and having him do my suits (my latest suit was a Boss Black single breasted that he did an amazing job on). Robert also sells suits, but you can have the utmost confidence that he won't sell you something that isn't to your taste. His suits are very high quality, but since he specializes in selling to businesses, they may not have the selection you can find elsewhere. A grown up man should have a few people in his lives: a good banker/accountant, a great cobbler, a fast drycleaner, and a tailor that knows his stuff. Robert is a guy who knows his stuff. read more

I needed a great tailor. I turned to yelp and stumbled upon European Tailors and decided to take a few suits in based off positive reviews here. I drove nearly an hour from my home to come here, and my expectations were exceeded with the friendliness and honesty of the owner and master tailor. He told me what I did and didn't need done, and made my less expensive suits look like $1500 suits from Nordstrom. He was a miracle worker on one pair of pants in particular, where the store accidentally gave me pants that were 4 sizes too big with my suit, and when I went to exchange them they had none left in the fabric to match my suit jacket. European Tailors expertly tailored my pants to fit me exactly as a pair my size would have. I was amazed with the quality and attention to detail. I will not be using any other tailors. First, this is no longer the same European Tailors that is recommended here. As I discovered, this is no longer owned by the same tailor (though it was my first visit here). Moreover, it's no longer a shop specializing in men's clothing - it's now primarily a bridal store. In fact, when I first stepped into the store, I was initially confused. I came in looking to get my new pants hemmed and possibly slightly altered to better fit me. They were very willing to help and quickly pinned the pants as necessary. But, when I asked about modifying the hips/waist a bit, the woman helping me seemed not enthusiastic about figuring out how to make the pants fit 100% correctly. At least, not compared to past experiences at other tailors. I decided to avoid having them altered, since they didn't seem that interested. The timeline was also quite confusing. I was first told it would take a week, then told to come back two days later and they would be ready. When I came back to pick them up, they were in fact not ready (apparently some staffing issues, but would have been nice if they had called), but were ready a few hours later. Quality looks to be good. Price was also fine - $20 for hemming a pair of pants. Summary: Pros: quick service, friendly people, good price, good quality Cons: was not impressed with their thoughts on altering pants, no longer a tailor but a bridal shop Bottom line: Looks to be a good, quick place for simple alterations (at least for men's clothing) if you don't mind dealing with all the bridal stuff. Anything more complicated needs to be done elsewhere. read more

Robert did an amazing job repairing some moth holes in a suit. Very reasonable prices too! There was a minor miscommunication when I dropped my suit off, but it was fixed quickly and without issue. read more

My experience with European Tailors has been great! So far, I had 2 suits and 3 jackets adjusted and countless dress shirts. This small shop has a lot of personality. As mentioned by other reviewer, they won't hesitate to send you back to the store and return/give away something that looks fundamentally wrong on you (if you insist they will work around it, maybe?). Every time I go there I learn something about clothing materials, design, sizing, etc. That's helping me a lot to develop my own sense of style and fitting. Mehmet has been my taylor and mentor. Yet I am still to have a custom made jacket by Robert... I just didn't have time-vs-need for that. Lastly, they have reasonable prices. read more

Based on the high reviews, I have this tailor a shot. One $300+ item was cut too short and effectively ruined, the other turned out okay. In my first visit, I was instructed to change in the back because the changing room was occupied. It was supposed to be empty, yet two people emerged halfway through the change catching me literally with my pants down. When I received the first item back I was disappointed to find the hem much too short. I was so excited to have purchased it, all of which disappeared when I realized it would never be wearable without embarrassment. I took a second item to the tailor, and brought back the first. I asked if the hem could be lengthened at all, at my own expense. I paid for a re-alteration but I'm honestly not sure it was touched, I could not see any difference. The second item turned out okay. Upon pickup, the owner went on a rant about how he didn't even want to do this type of work anymore, everyone seems to have different taste in length, it's just so complicated finding out what people want, it's all too much trouble for him, etc etc etc. I was very nice and cordial each visit, never asking for anything more than to pay him to alter my nice new items, etc. I'm sure the quality of his work is amazing, many happy reviewers say as much. If you already know him, I'm sure he'll go out of the way to listen to you and make you happy. However, if you don't already have a working relationship, and you're hoping to find a tailor who listens to you, complete the work as you wished, and just be courteous I would recommend looking elsewhere. I can't really rate higher than one star if when the success rate for returning items unruined is 50%. read more

Fantastic alterations to my suit jacket. Not many tailors in the area like to "chop" suits (shorten the length of the jacket) but I needed it done. The price was under $50 which I wasn't expecting (cheap for that type of alteration in Bellevue) and she did an absolutely perfect job! When asked about how soon I needed the jacket back, I said "Whenever you can get it back to me." I have a rule with tailors: never EVER rush them if possible. I could tell she appreciated that and I still had the jacket back within a week or so. I will be bringing in my other suits to European Tailors for alterations. Guys, don't be worried at the large amounts of wedding dresses in the small shop, they are just as skilled with menswear as wedding gowns. read more

European Tailors is located in the same shop at Le Belle Reve. I purchased my wedding dress at Le Belle Reve and needed alternations, and that's where European Tailors stepped in. They had to take my dress in quite a bit, shorten the length, and also attach a jacket to it. They did an amazing job! It fits perfectly! They were really attentive at all of the dress fittings making sure that they were taking correct measurements in order to do the best possible job. I just called them asking how much they charge to hem a pair of jeans. $25. That price might be worth it depending on what you spend on clothes but is beyond what I'd pay to hem jeans. read more

Impossible to find. I found the building and the sign but could not find the entrance. I walked around for 15 min and asked the bridal salon where it was and they gave me instructions that were incorrect; one of the neighboring shops told me the tailor was in the actual salon...at that point I decided it was not even remotely worth my time to keep looking since 4-star or above tailors are a dime a dozen in Bellevue. I wanted to have some alterations done by a professional tailor instead of the Macy's people. I took a look at Yelp and decided to give these guys a try. The gentleman I dealt with was very nice and the measuring went fine - I thought. I asked to have three pairs of pants hemmed and a suit jacket altered - sleeves and upper back (below the collar). I went to pick up my items and tried the jacket on and noticed that the upper back still bunched up and called it to the gentleman's attention. He looked, pulled down on the back of the jacket and said it was the shirt I was wearing. I was hesitant but figured he knew what he was talking about. Later, I went to wear one of the pants they repaired the hem on and noticed that they had pressed the bottom incorrectly, then re-pressed it correctly, leaving the incorrect press crease on the bottom of the pant leg...on my Brooks Brother's suit pants. Then I went to put the jacket (Macy's Suit) back on and noticed that it was too big (my fault) so I decided I needed to have it taken in. I was surprised a professional tailor wouldn't have noticed it was almost 1 size too big. I decided that because of the hem issue I would just go back to Macy's. Went back and put the jacket on and the first thing I noticed was that the seamstress was pinning the upper back to fix the bunching up of the suit. I told her it was already done and she shook her head saying it was done wrong and showed me how it bunched up. So needless to say, overall i was disappointed with the whole experience. I thought I was going to a place that would make my suit look tailored but got nothing like that. Granted I should have noticed the jacket was a bit big but I didn't pay attention as I figured a pro would notice...like the seamstress at Macy's did. My last gripe...I didn't see any prices in the shop nor was I quoted anything until I got the final bill. Again...my bad but I think it would be a good practice to tell your customers what you will charge them. read more

European Tailors is hidden on 8th Street in a quiet and secluded little strip mall just west of What the Pho. I came across this place while searching for a skilled tailor to take care of my Italian suits. I had not yet found a tailor I could trust. I searched the internet and found information via several different ways: reviews on Google and recommendations from Styleforum. I was actually looking forward to meeting Bob, the German owner and frontman. There are actually two master tailors in-house, Bob being one of them. He greeted me in a very respectful manner and I told him I needed his opinion and/or recommendations on a suit I had just purchased. He asked to see the suit and I pulled it out for him to inspect. He definitely has a good eye for workmanship, and does not give a darn about the label. In the end, he made his recommendations and made the suit look beautiful on me by taking the waist in on the jacket. I was convinced after my first interaction with him that this was the tailor I could have full confidence in with my clothing. I came back the next day to drop off another suit. We talked about clothing and he gave me insights and information regarding picking the right suit, shirts, history of tailoring, wool factories, etc. He obviously has a plethora of experience and information. From what Bob and I talked about, he picked up tailoring when he was a child, learning from his father who was a tailor in Germany. He is very customer service oriented and will give you his straight opinion on anything. He may come across as arrogant, but trust me, he is there to make you happy and ensure your clothes fit you the proper way. Do not hesitate to take your clothes here and have him eye the fit. Listen to and trust his opinions. In addition, his pricing is great for the quality of work he does. I've had simpler alteration cost more than half of what he charged me for taking in a jacket and finishing the hem on one suit and taking in the pants and finishing the hem on a second suit. read more
