I came to a wedding not knowing it was a black tie event. I landed in Seattle late Friday night from Hawaii and the wedding was Saturday at 2:00p. I called all the main stream tuxedo shops and no one could help me. I found The Tuxedo Club on line and called, speaking with Bob. I explained what I needed and he told me that if I got to his shop ASAP, he would get me out the door within 20 minutes. He did as he promised and while I don't wear a tuxedo that often, it is the first time I have had comments on how good I looked in the tuxedo. Tuxedo was a quality suit and it looked great. Bob is a great guy and TC is the place to go if you need a tux/suit. It's a small establishment and when you walk in things look a bit chaotic, but believe me, there's a system and the place is organised. Bob has good quality products and reasonable prices, as compared to the chain rental places. My tux rental was under $200 and that included shoes, bowtie, cummerbund and/or vest (I went with the vest). I am an educator and Bob was thankful for my career choice and gave me an additional discount. Seattle is not a city that requires formal wear on a regular basis, but when the time comes again, I will stop in and give Bob my business. read more

Had a nightmarish experience with this shop, nearly ruined our whole weekend travelling to attend our best friend's wedding. The tux pants split when my husband stepped into them, wide open. He hadn't even gotten them on yet. So we had to scramble and find something else he could wear to the wedding, which is hard to do when you're traveling. It looked like sloppy tailoring or really worn material? But who can even tell? You just go into these places trusting they won't send you home with something like this. Upon returning the tux, the owner proceeded immediately to accuse me of lying about the circumstances, insisting there was no way it could have occurred that way and that we were "those kinds of people". He was rude, hostile, outright aggressive. Demanded that we pay the price of the pants, which I did because I literally felt attacked and harassed and needed to get out of that place with this angry yelling man. All in all, we paid $330 in total to rent a tuxedo that we thought would be a step up from your normal chain tailoring shops and what we got was a horrible experience, hours spent traveling to fitting/pickup/return, a tuxedo we carried around but couldn't wear, an embarrassing outfit to wear to a black tie formal wedding, and the experience of being abused and treated like criminals and like "those kinds of people" from this man. I cannot possibly express how deeply we regret not just going to a Men's Wearhouse or something and being misled by these inexplicably positive reviews. read more

As one of the rare non-chain tux rental places in the seattle area, Bob (the owner) runs a very friendly and affordable shop. Main positives: 1. Bob's shop lets you try on and see how you will look, with all the vests, ties, cufflinks, shoes provided; the chain stores don't let you even touch them. This was a main deciding factor for my very anal tailoring eye. 2. Measurements here are taken and you can also see how it fits you in addition to how it looks, not like the chain stores. If sleeves are just slightly too long, Bob can do same day on-site tailoring (more on this later); the chains cannot. 3. The prices are comparable, although just slightly more at Bob's (~$120 at the big stores vs ~$120 and up depending on quality desired at Tux Club). 4. You can pick up your rental about a week prior to your event, making it vastly easier on your schedule; the chains here like Men's Wearhouse or Tux Shop give you 2 days prior pickup. 5. Bob addresses everyone very politely, as "sirs" and "ma'ams." Main negatives: 1. I came in with my brother for his suit, and it looked fantastic, except that the sleeves ran too long (past the first joint on his thumb, about 0.5" above the indent between his thumb/forefinger. Bob was able to fold back ~0.5" of fabric and sewed it inside the sleeve, however I didn't check that he did not press it and didn't sew enough stitches, resulting in a very bulbous sleeve end which looked a bit awkward; no shortcuts next time Bob! 2. Bob hires some high school kids for the shop. I was told that the above sleeve alteration could not be done due to the faux buttons being "in the way." I've had work experience in the textile industry as well as suit tailoring, and knew that the kid didn't know what he was talking about (faux button can be moved, fake buttonhole stitching would look awkward at the sleeve end but not very visible). Talked to Bob instead and straightened that out. 3. For some of the good quality stuff at Bob's shop it can run $150-$200 (100% wool, lower end RL lines) which is a lot considering the price of a cheap tux at a slightly lower quality can be had for about double that amount. 4. The shoe selection is not classy. Bicycle and square toed shoes are fashion trend items and belong at night clubs. The only semi-classic was a patent leather round toe American styled short toe (looked like an Alden last), I would have loved some classier AE PA styled or an elongated Italian styled toe. 5. Bob can be slow replying to emails in the busy season. Overall my experience with Bob was great, and I realize I have just as many negatives as positives in this review but the negs are trivial compared to the positives I listed, and relative to the other chain stores Bob definitely has a leg up. We had a terrible experience at mens warehouse and I highly encourage you to rent your suits with a local shop like Bob. You'll get a better deal all around. Bob is a class act. He is respectful, courteous, knowledgeable, yet witty at the same time. While I had my doubts and worries at first with his measurements coming primarily from me and my groomsmen's height, weight, and shoe size...his method was oddly accurate. Though he is very busy with coordinating many weddings a week (which made me nervous that something with regards to my wedding would be forgotten), he assured me that everything will be taken care of. Sure enough, he proved it the week of my wedding when we came in for our final fitting and everything was absolutely perfect. Suits looked sharp, shirts and pants neat and tidy, all materials came packed and prepared - he even delivered it to our venue the day before our wedding and it was waiting for us there during our rehearsal. The quality of the tux and suits he provided were astounding. He was very hospitable and accommodating to my specific requests/needs and helped me fulfill how I envisioned my tux/our suits to be. A business that works based on intimidating customers when a question is asked, and an owner that curses at their customers because he felt that he needed to be defensive (based on a question that could have a simple answer), shouldn't even exist as a business. Bob showed his true colors when my husband asked him about pants that literally ripped off when he bent to tie his shoes and why he had to pay a repair fee if the pants might have not been properly fitted. Any person has a right to ask a question before you pay for something, and a owner can respond with an answer and not with intimidation saying: "Are you gonna fuck with me" and taking his mask down to intimate even more. Wish I had it on video. And Bob, I have read several of your reviews with customers saying you blackmail them based on reviews that say the truth about the way you treat them when something doesn't go your way. That is illegal to do. Every customer has a right to review based on their experience. And this one was honestly awful. Fit was good, but Bob is exceedingly unprofessional and left a very bad impression on me, and I will never do business with him again. Bob got me and my groomsmen set up with brilliant looking tuxes for my wedding, and the initial experience was quite good. During the wedding, a couple of the tuxes were ripped due to exuberant dancing - due to this, we made it clear to Bob that we were sorry about this and that we would pay whatever was necessary to negate the damages. Despite being cooperative and willing to pay whatever it took to set things right, Bob sent me and my groomsman emails with baseless threats of legal action (we were being cooperative), and when I saw him the day after my wedding, he would not look me in the eye, did not say "congrats", or anything like that. I get that he was frustrated with damaged inventory, but of the 11 tuxes rented I could only physically wear one of them, and mine was returned in perfect condition. Taking it out on me is not fair, and frankly surprising. Bob struck me initially as someone who has his act together, and I now know this not the case. Bob's reaction was completely childish and unbecoming of someone who has supposedly been in the business for a long time. I was hoping to come back from my honeymoon and buy a custom suit from him as a "thank you", but you can be completely sure I will never recommend or support his business after how he treated me on the most significant day of my life for things that happened that were not even remotely my fault. Hey Bob, thanks for putting me in a great tux for my wedding day, but there are plenty of places where you can get fitted for a wonderful suit and tux that don't treat you like dirt after they already have your money. read more

Bob has a way of measuring guys from just heigh weight shoe size. I was pretty skeptical. Two days before the wedding everyone flew in and tried on their suits. They all fit well no issues. My experience here was not good in fact it was very disappointing.... I set up a 3 o'clock appointment with Bob and he didn't start helping us until about 3:45. He didn't even acknowledge we were there for at least 20 minutes. We were standing outside waiting to be helped. And the only reason we were standing outside waiting to be helped is because there's not enough room in his shop for more than two people to be in at a time because of how messy it is. I'm glad the weather wasn't bad otherwise we could've been standing outside in the rain for all we know. And what's worst is he took another party ahead of me after he had finished with the party that was there at the time we had made the appointment for on the phone a week prior. I asked on the phone if 3pm was a good time he said yes. And I asked him is there anything you need to know for the appointment. He asked for the wedding date and if I was the groom. I told him the date and said I was the groom. I'm saying this because Bob texted me today and the conversation did not go well. He tries to make it seem like I wasted his time when really he wasted me and my friends time. Back to what I was saying. I understand finishing up with a previous group but to take another party that had no appointment ahead of me after help the party of 5 when I was present was rude. It wasn't until after he had helped that next party did he acknowledge us. Mind you two other people were waiting to be helped after us and so when he finally did take us he told the two gentlemen that we're waiting outside with us that he would be right with them as if my appointment with him wouldn't take very long. And because only two people fit in the shop at a time because of how messy it is in there my friends had to wait outside and each one had to go in separately to get measured for suits. After he had measured us he showed me three options for suits. We didn't get to try on any suits by the way, that was a disappointment. He proceeded to tell me that we would have to put $50 down each to reserve the suits. Four members of my group didn't even see the suits the one that did only saw the suits because I called him into the shop which he barely could fit in while I was in. But why would I put money down on something I didn't get to try on. And no I didn't ask to try on the suit in case your curious, but he didn't offer neither. I told him I don't want to put $50 down on the suits at least just yet because I have one other place to visit to see what their options and prices are but mainly because there were already a lot of red flags. It was at that point Bob's demeanor changed and he was rushing me out of the shop he said things like thank you for your time repeatedly as if he wanted me to leave for not putting any money down. And because he was hurt that I would even think about doing business with someone else. Keep in mind that we had waited 40 minutes to be helped and he was already rushing me to put $50 down on each suit which would have been $200 that day to reserve the suits for a wedding special he said he had that ended and was willing to extend. He had never mentioned that wedding special before but he kept mentioning that it was ending and that's why he needed the money today after his demeanor changed. He didn't seem like he wanted our business the moment he found out that I was in the process of shopping around. I needed the suits for a wedding and I wanted to get a price but Bob was not willing to give me one and was practically shoeing me out of his shop so he could help the next customers. Also to add to things when Bob had asked what colors we wanted to do for the wedding I said black suits and he raised his fist up to do the black power sign which was awkward and unprofessional because we were already not having a good experience. My friends and I laughed it off but later expressed to each other how it kind of added to the overall bad experience. You don't throw up the black fist and then turn around and do black folks dirty... that is a slap in the face... We drove all that way and paid 7 dollars each for parking for a really bad experience. read more

I had a very important interview coming up and needed a suit that looked great and was affordable. After going on yelp I found this place since it was close to my house and on my way to work. Hands down, the best experience I have ever had getting a suit. Mr. Buhrman was extremely knowledgeable and just very personable. I never once felt like I was pushed by him till in any direction style or color for the suit. I was also never pressured to pay extra for the miscellaneous things other tux shops will try to throw in to run up a bill. By the end of the experience, it honestly felt like we were old friends just talking about whatever! I want to thank Mr. Buhrman for everything. Also side note; I got the job! I have a wedding coming up in a couple weeks, and the only place I will consider coming for my suit is here. read more

The shop is very messy, there is a lack of options, and this owner thinks this is the best place in town. If you have an appointment with someone it is not for you to be waiting upon arrival. TL:DR: Bad suits for a wedding; Bob asked me to fight outside, then told me I was trespassing and he would call the cops. DO NOT USE THIS SHOP!! If zero stars were an option, I would gladly leave ZERO stars. This happened last Summer. First of all, Bob did just one fitting with everyone, the second fitting was supposed to happen sometime around a week before the wedding, however the suits were not ready. They were delivered the night of the rehearsal dinner, giving us no time to correct any issues. Bob messed almost everyone's suits up. My pants were a size 44, I wear a 38. They were about 4 inches too long. My suit jacket was hanging off me, about 4 sizes too big. I couldn't wear my shoes, as they were both the wrong size and falling apart. The heel was literally separated from the shoe. Luckily I just happened to bring along my own shoes. When I brought this up upon returning my suit, after numerous threatening phone calls to do so (I believe it was the Wednesday after the wedding), Bob refused to even acknowledge anything being wrong. I had prepaid and wasn't looking for a refund, but a mere apology. Instead of an apology, and after a couple minutes of back and forth (rude on his part, profanities etc, as I tried to maintain being pleasant) Bob actually says to me "Do you want to take this outside?" wanting to literally fight. I was shocked! Nobody had ever asked me to "take it outside" before! I thought that only happened in bad movies. Overall, a horrible experience. ANY shop would have been a better choice, and I think as many people as possible need to hear and share this story. read more

My husband really wanted to like this place. When he got fitted, he was impressed with the owner. When he went to pick up the suit; different story. The hemming looked like a child did it, one of the belt loops on the pants had been ripped in half and hastily stitched back together, the shoes were FILTHY and had a horrible patch job on the uppers. Gross. My husband described the whole ensemble as "costume quality" at best. Definitely not want you want for a semi-formal event. I will be posting pictures so you can see for yourself. My wedding was in the middle of many high school homecomings last September and Bobs shop was very busy. My brothers and I, being on the smaller side of NFL Linemen, knew we'd have to find a place to rent suits that would fit us properly. After going in to get fitted by Bob himself month's prior to the wedding, we assumed all was good. When the wedding date neared I came here to Yelp and was a bit taken back about the negative reviews he had. We decided to go back in a couple weeks before the wedding to get fitted again and make sure everything was on track. Being the groom I stayed on top of Bob to make sure he knew how crucial it was to get us taken care of ahead of time as the wedding was in the San Juan Islands, and we had no extra time to spare if there was a suit that didn't fit. Upon the final fittings, the fathers, who are normal size guys, had perfect fitting suits and looked amazing. Bob had ordered us brand new suits and had the vests custom tailored. After switching around the pieces of the three suits for the groomsmen, my younger brother was able to walk out of the shop with a suit on time, but my older brother and I did not have suits that fit. My jacket was three inches from being able to button and my vest wasn't close either. Obviously my belly was the problem but losing that many inches in two days wasn't an option. We had no choice but to head to the Island and leave it all in Bob's hands who assured us he would personally deliver them. It was the Friday before the wedding and the night of our rehearsal dinner and beach bonfire. We called Bob several times to find out how things were going and sure enough he had many suits in hand and made the last Ferry out of Anacortes to meet us on the Island. Bob showed up at midnight to my suite in Eastsound on Orcas Island, fitted my older brother and I, and then vanished into the night like Batman. He didn't interrupt our dinner or bonfire like we asked him not to, and brought us brand new, high quality, great fitting suits. We all looked great and Bob is to thank. Now if you're saying to yourself how its possible that I can be happy with this kind of service because it wasn't right to begin with, customer service wins me over. Driving two hours, plus an hour ferry ride and then sleeping his car in the ferry line on that cold night, Bob's customer service cannot be questioned. He can only run his small business within the time constraints the warehouses he rents and purchases from allows him. Bob may be a card short of a full deck but he is a good guy and understands how to make things work in the end when it matters. Thank you Bob for the great service! read more

This was one of the best vendor experiences I have ever had. I had a very last minute need for a full tux and it was fulfilled with zero hassles. The proprietor was extremely helpful, efficient, professional, and courteous. After measurements, my tux rental was ready within 75 minutes. Upon return, I was met with more of the same. Bob, the owner of the shop is very plesant to work with. He responded to my emails promptly and by the time we had the 1st appointment with him, he already had the jacket with correct size for my hubby to try on. No deposit required for the entire process unlike other big stores. Bob is very knowledageable about formal men's wear, which is a life saver as i wanted to deal with someone who can offer me opinions regarding a morning suit, which is less common for weddings. Other shops either don't know about the suit or can't do anything unless we put down deposits. The processing of renting and returning the suit to Bob is so easy and stress-free. The pricing structure is extremely simple and all inclusive. One price covers everything except undergarment. The rental price is the BEST in town and we can even get mother of pearl cufflinks, which added a very nice touch to the suit. We did lost the handkerchief when we returned. However, we were only chagred $7 for this. We were very happy with Bob's service and the suit quality. Highly recommended. read more

Hey Bob, thanks for not showing up for 6:30pm appointment that we made 6 days in advance. Really lived up to all your piss poor reviews. Really wanted to do business with your establishment, really didn't want to believe the lousy reviews but I can now. First impression of your shop, fallout from an IED would fail to properly describe the state of your show room. Vince was a nice kid that lacked experience. Trying to put me in jackets that don't fit or looked like crap on me. Not to mention that my fitting was stopped twice to help walk in customers. The straw that broke the camels back for me was when Vince stopped my fitting to go start a fitting for a father and son that just walked in, when I had an appointment. So my advice to any one that reads this review, go elsewhere. Spend your money with a company that respects your time. It's perfectly clear that Bob does not. I pride myself in supporting local businesses and try to avoid the mass market chain stores, but this experience was very disappointing and gives small businesses a bad name. I needed a tux for a company party and this was my first time renting a tux, or actually wearing a tux. Based on the yelp ratings, I decided to try out the tuxedo club. A little bit about me, I am a tall and very skinny guy(wears 35L and 29W). Hence anything ready made is out of question. I was skeptical that I can get anything for my size via rental so I called ahead to make sure that my visit will not be in vain. Bob, the owner of the tux shop convinced me that he will have something for me and so me and my friend visited the tuxedo club. Bob brought one tux, and it fit me perfectly and it looked great. We weren't sure if a Cummerbund, vest or suspenders would look good on me, and Bob let me try all three. If something was out of place(of course the Cummerbund:)), he instantly altered it for my size. Not just that, he had many different color combinations as well for my size. I was so happy to get a rental for my size that I didn't have to get it tailored. Bob's customer obsession was outstanding and the attention and service he provided us was impeccable. Had an awesome experience working with Bob at the Tuxedo Club for our wedding! It was so nice to go to a physical location and be able to try on the tuxes. He had different styles, all of the material is great quality, and was comfortable to wear the whole wedding day/night. Sizing was on point! Even with a few of the groomsmen not able to do in-person measurements, Bob was able to get them sized perfectly. Our wedding was outside of Seattle at Suncadia; Bob ensured the tuxes were ready with plenty of time to pick up and made it easy to drop off. My older brother and I were heading to our cousin's New Year's Eve Black Tie wedding and my bro's tux pants needed to be lengthened. Both of us were only in town for a few days, and only had the morning/afternoon before the wedding to get the alterations done. We tried the cleaner's down the street and they said any alterations would take a week! We tried our luck at The Tuxedo Club as it's across the street from our parents' condo and the owner, Bob, was very enthusiastically helpful. He simply told us it'd take 15 minutes and he could get it re-hemmed before his next appointment. Started unstitching the hem right away, we came back 15-20 min later and done as promised. At that point, we figured we'd ask if he had a button he could stitch to the tux jacket since it was missing and he did that in a few seconds after he found a matching button. My bro also rented a regular white shirt with cufflinks for $7, so shirt and alterations came to $21. Can't beat that service. Needed suits for our wedding this past weekend and had picked up Bob's card at the Seattle wedding expo earlier this year. We first visited the shop to check out the selection and found a perfect gray 3-piece suit and accessories that would match our colors. Came back later with the rest of the groomsmen for a fitting appointment and Bob was a blast. Half the party decided to buy the suit/pants while the other half rented everything. Bob was able to work out the complicated order just fine and delivered everything perfectly. All the suits fit great and everyone looked sharp! Bob and I chatted multiple times over the months and every time he was more than willing to go the extra mile to make sure everything meet our needs. There really isn't any other option if you are looking for rentals. Bob is a one-stop shop. read more

This place completely exceeded all of my expectations. Top notch service. Good people. Nice suits. I brought my elderly father who has dementia here to rent a classic gray suit for my wedding - it's hard to find a place in the Seattle-area that rents suits and not just tuxedos! This could have been a really stressful experience (my dad loves to tell stories, but he also repeats himself & can become frustrated easily), but the owner and the young woman helping us were absolutely wonderful. We didn't have to wait long to be helped. They were friendly, extremely helpful, patient, and kind. After listening to my father tell boxing stories from back in the day, the owner even gave us a discount. It wasn't gimmicky - he didn't even mention it - but we noticed! We walked out of the shop very satisfied with the whole process and my dad commented about how much he liked the staff. My dad looked and felt great on the day of the wedding thanks in large part to the Tuxedo Club's service. I have nothing but great things to say about Bob and The Tuxedo Club. Learned last minute I needed a tux for a black tie charity auction - not just any tux - a big and tall size, center vent notched lapel No Italian "high fashion" look for me - just a solid, classic look. You'd be surprised how challenging this has become. I needed to be fitted and altered in 3 days. Not a surprise but I got no satisfaction trying to work through the big chain stores that do tux rentals. Oh, did I mention that I learned I was trying to do this apparently right in the middle of prom season! Bob was simply fantastic! He was so friendly, enthusiastic and totally customer focused. Lots of try ons until we found the right ensemble. Everything was ready for pickup on time, reasonably priced (in relation to what quality tux rentals run in today's market) and fit perfectly - and that's saying something given my "non-ballerina size" is not really off the rack. I HIGHLY recommend The Tuxedo Club over ANY of the chains. When I can I will always try and patronize an independent business that delivers incredible quality service. read more
