European Tan has the worst customer service I've encountered. After being promised a 10-day unlimited sun bed trial for $25, I arrived to find no account set up and staff unaware of the offer. The manager, Bella, provided a 7-day free trial and said CEO/President at European Tanning Inc, George Papadapolis would follow up. After reviewing my original call, George agreed to honor the 10-day trial by adding 3 luxury bed sessions to my account. However, on my next visit, only the 3 sessions appeared. When I contacted George, he had removed the 7-day trial, ignored our agreement, and insisted the 3 sessions for $25 was a great deal. When I followed up again, he canceled the remaining sessions (I have yet to see a refund or refund email) and told me to pay full price. At the very least, the 7-day trial should still be honored. Until European Tan improves its customer service and ensures consistency in its offers, I wouldn't recommend going there. read more

I have enjoyed using European Tan! They are always helpful and courteous there. I think some of the bad reviews are from people who just don't read the contract, or don't understand cancellation and freeze dates and the like. A good general motto is "if you have any questions, just ask". It doesn't hurt to ask. I had to put my membership on a temporary freeze, and Zariah was very helpful in helping me to understand the process. Definitely a place I would recommend! read more

If I could rate zero stars I would. I don't feel like I got any tanner here and when I went to cancel my membership they talked me into putting my account on freeze instead. They have you sign a contract that if you don't pay or your payment doesn't go through your membership is still valid and all your monthly payments go into a balance that will be sent to collections! I did not read the fine print on my contract and a year later am realizing that when my card expired and I stopped paying for a service I don't use that I have over $350 of charges that are going to be sent to collections. Don't tan here! Dont sign any contract! Most companies would cancel your membership but not this one- they keep it open to get more money. Shady business model in my opinion. read more

Don't buy their so called upgrades. They will find a way to take them away from you. I was NEVER told that I only had 14 days to use the 2 upgrades I purchased until after the 14 days were up. Go figure. They will also allow people to buy upgraded pack ages if NEW. Keep in mind that this is only sometimes but when I was new there was no perk in for me. When I said ok, cancel me and I'll start over with the package with the perks for the same price I was paying, I was told that the perk still wouldn't work because I was still in there system. Update: The owner reached out to me about my review, and, although we never actually spoke to each other after playing some serious phone tag, she credited me my first tan. I went to a different location and had a really great chat with who I can only guess was the owner there, and he was really knowledgeable and friendly. This chain does deserve credit for pretty good customer service. I'm still miffed by the pricing especially considering that the most expensive city in the world offers much better options at a cheaper price, but I suppose that's the Utah market, so I can't fault them for being savvy business people. I can grumble though. **Grumble** I'm really annoyed with this place. A year ago, I had a good experience. This time I came in for a spray tan and put like $90 down for a package of 4. AFTER paying I ask to do the regular level 3 that's and included option EVERYWHERE I spray - even overpriced San Francisco where I live - I'm told it's $5 extra. Levels 1 & 2 are included, just not 3. I was appalled. Even up in Park City level 3 is STANDARD. So I went with level two after being assured it would give me great color. Nope! I'm just as pale as before and wasted my money. Now I have 3 crappy tans left and if I want to get anything out of them I have to pay $15. Just for price comparison, my tanning salon in SF's Castro offers $65 unlimited spray tans (levels 1-3). If I want to do a double (like 2 level 3s) it's the extra $5. I'd highly suggest reading the contract papers COMPLETLEY through before signing anything with these people. I got a 30 day pass given to me for a GIFT from my bf and because it was for me they charged my bank account not only once, not only twice but their STILL almost a year later charging my bank account 60$ every month!!! Even after I have called multiple times and chewed them out and canceled it! Their sneaky and the girls are snobby! They have great beds! But I highly suggest u go somewhere else, unless u have a ton a money and don't think 60 a month is a big deal. Two thumbs down for this place. And their lotions are crazy highly priced! read more

This review is to reflect the service that was provided by their staff member Anastasia. I have been tanning here for a little bit now and really love the environment. I am always treated so kindly, never put down about questions that I have, or even was treated poorly when I told him that I had to temporary cancel my membership. This has nothing to do with pricing or the quality of the beds, nothing. This strictly is to review the service that was provided by Anastasia. I realize that they are a place of business that does close at 9 PM. Being a full-time employee and a full-time mom it's usually about this time of night when I get a moment to myself. Hurrying as fast as I can to the location I enter in about 8:39 PM. I was told to my face by Anastasia to "not make a habit of this" thinking that she was questioning my temporary pause on my membership I explained the reasons behind it. She then said "no, we just close at 9 o'clock. Don't make a habit of coming in right at this time." I was shocked! The tanning booth that I like to use lets me town for a maximum of 12 minutes I was in and out of their establishment in 15 minutes. With four minutes to spare AFTER she lectured me about "not making a habit of this". I don't know who will benefit from this review but I do hope whoever does see it and turns around and walks out as soon as they see the Anastasia is working the desk. I have worked as a manager for a prestigious company and their service department and never have I ever let one of my agents speak this way to one of our members. I don't normally write reviews, however as a consumer, if my issue is not being address I feel I have no other choice. My husband and I tanned as this location for 2 + years. A couple of things have gone wrong in the last few months. We like using the VIP beds and would tan at the same time. There were 3 beds at the time that we signed up. Changes have been made and now there is only 2 bed so it changes the opportunity for us to tan at the same time. Okay a bit inconvenient but I get that things change. Then with no notification the rates went up and instead of paying $27 a month for each one of us, it changed to $38 each. We should have been notified in order to adjust our budget. The contract that we signed stated $27 a month not $38. Then when we decided to cancel, we went to the Murray location on 7/9 and were told that we could still tan until 7/16. We signed the cancelations forms only we were only shown a part if the form not the whole form and what we were signing stated that we were canceling on 8/16 not 7/16. So needless to say the payments pulled from our account. When I called in I was told that we should have canceled on 7/7 in order for that cancelation to be effective 7/16. We were not told that on 7/9 when we went in to sign the forms. I asked the owner to call me back and that has been over a week ago. I went on the website and sent in n email and I still have heard nothing, That is so wrong. As a business owner myself I feel this company has not been upfront with their practices and doesn't care about the individual. I would not recommend this place to anyone for that reason. I plan on filing a complaint with the department of consumer protection. read more

Overpriced, and tanning beds aren't up to par with other salons I've been to. After $80 and three sessions I still haven't seen any color difference in my skin. Yes, I use lotion, and yes, I use a sticker to gauge color change. I won't be going here again. I recommend Beaches Tanning Center in Murray. I had a membership with them for 6 years and never had problem. I left when I moved away and decided not to tan consistently anymore. I went back today just to go for a session to get ready for summer. The owner helped me and the customer service was exceptional. He even gave me a free session as a convenience to me. All the girls there do a great job also. (Completely opposite from when I went to beaches tanning and they not only took money for my coupon but wouldn't even let me use it.) People saying they're more expensive but I'm willing to pay the extra for a clean store and amazing customer service. I recommend them for sure! read more

Hands-down the worst tanning facility I've ever visited. The bulbs are incredibly weak and the fan was stuck on the high creating a freezing cold wind tunnel. For this inconvenience I received no compensation but a explanation telling me that wasn't a real problem and they aren't broken. read more

I do not recommend tanning here. They are not focused on the customer and could care less about your results. I spray tanned here and it looked awful even after I bought the recommended products and did all the required steps. The staff is anything less than helpful, and I was in a wedding that weekend so I had to just shower immediately and waste the money I had spent. I am not the only one to say this. Cancelled my account last March (16 months ago). I personally went in and filled out and signed a cancellation form. They even have this on their file... HOWEVER 16 months later I am still getting charged every month. I have gone into the locations, called and talked to several associates, managers, and someone at the corporate office, and it has been the worst experience, I don't have anything appropriate to say. Besides trying to give me free upgrades and telling me that they will cancel it next month (which was after freaking out on them for over a week) they will not admit to any mistake or even consider giving me a refund! That is MIND BOOGLING. I cannot express enough how much stress this place has caused and how self-serving they are. I just contacted the BBB and am hoping they can take care of the situation.
