I randomly just wanted to get a Brazilian because my hair was long enough and was just lazy to do it myself. I typically go to the Columbia location, but unfortunately all their time slots were booked. I'm not too sure why I even bother to go to Columbia, when this location is literally 10 minutes away. Half the time it takes me to get to Columbia. Lucky for me, the time slots at Olney were pretty empty and worked with my schedule. Since I was on a time crunch and didn't know which specialist to go for, I just picked any. I was running late so I called to see if I could push my appointment back 15 minutes. The lady at the register/phone kindly agreed and said there was a 9 minute grace period. I walked in, checked in, and since the lobby was closed, was told to wait outside. I walked out and within 2 seconds Melody came outside to greet me. Definitely not the first time I've been to EWC, so I knew the drill. I know their rule - only 15 minutes per customer, but for some reason Melody seemed articulate with her work. It didn't seem rushed at all and she made sure all the spots were fully bare and plucked out some ingrown hairs (the main reason I decided to go for a wax!) Besides all that, she was so personable! We had a light conversation. She was sweet, and gentle. Not a product pusher either. We love a wax lady who treats your bits with the special care and attention it needs! I'm impressed! I had a great experience with Charelle. This was my first bikini line wax and Charelle talked me through the process and answered any questions I had. She is knowledgeable and has such a bright and uplifting personality. She was swift and thorough, making sure I was comfortable and checking that the wax's temperature was okay. The process definitely stung less than any at-home waxing I've done. After it was over I didn't even feel sore. I also appreciate the text-check-in system they have to maintain social distancing. Full facial wax. I used to see Mona, who was great. However the last three times I went, there was a strip of hair along my jawline and chin, first on the left and then I spoke to her about my dissatisfaction, and she did the same thing next time but on the right side. I've been a regular customer at European Wax Center since 2016. I have also purchased wax passes since then so basically I prepay for my services every year. Over the years, I've received extremely good service to really bad service depending on the location and technician. I've been to several centers as well between Maryland and North Carolina. I also purchase a lot of products based on recommendations made by the technicians. One of my most purchased products is the Ingrown Hair Serum. During my most recent visits, I received Brazilian Waxes and Underarm waxes by Mona. At both of those services my skin tore significantly. Not just a slight tear, it was down to the white flesh part, TWICE on the Brazilian!!! My underarms were torn as well and sore. And both times the technician blamed me saying it was the serum that caused the skin to thin out and tear. I use the EWC Ingrown Serum only once after my waxes and then I use pure organic Aloe. I've been doing this for years! What is so extremely funny about the situation is that during quarantine, I visited a good friend of mine in her home spa. She uses a similar wax at home and when she waxed me my skin DID NOT TEAR! Not even a little! And I had absolutely no irritation. What's even funnier is that she actually works for EWC as well and so she is familiar with their wax and technique. There have been several times my skin has been irritated after being serviced at this Olney center by Mona which leads me to believe there is a hygiene issue within this particular facility and a problem with the way this technician is pulling the strips off my skin. She knows my skin is sensitive and so she has tried to accommodate it by cooling the wax but I think that is what is making it worse. But I don't know because I'm not an esthetician... When I launched a complaint I was told I could no longer be serviced at their facility. So I visited another facility and once again, magically I had no irritation. So the only thing I can conclude is that this waxer, Mona, at Olney is heavy handed and/or not properly cleaning her waxing station which is irritating my skin. What's even worse is that when you complain about something, no matter how nice you are about it, they don't care. They will not offer you a discount or a free service or free product or anything! The owner took a week to even call me back! And when I voiced all my concerns he just apologized and that was it. No compensation or offer to come back. Mona was very dismissive and just says "Well, I don't know what it is...". I just don't appreciate spending so much money in a business that isn't even willing to keep your business or work things out in any way. And I always tipped very well, I would bring in a bottle of wine if I was late or missed an appt. I was definitely a good client other than being late most times but I would think that my extra tips would make up for it. This particular center does not deserve your business. I suggest visiting another center even if it is a little drive away. Oh! Lastly, they are definitely not following the new protocols correctly either at their facility during COVID. When I visited the other center, it was nice and clean and they checked your temp and had clean pens vs dirty etc. Olney has absolutely none of that in place. I would not trust the wellbeing of my health at this facility. And save your sanity for something else! read more

Google Review from 01/17/22: This was my first time getting a Brazilian and first time at a wax center. The waxer model "waxer in training" was nice and pleasant but when I got home, I realized unfortunately, she did miss a few sections or there was still some little patches that didn't get removed. I called the next day to ask for a touch up and apparently because it was a trainee they don't offer that as an option. They offer the first wax is free and a discount on your next appointment and this is to build up they're clientele. At this moment I will not be returning because if there was an error or mistake made by an employee they should offer and touch up to make sure you keep the customer happy and coming back. Trainee or not, that is an employee, if things were missed schedule a appointment with the trainee and certified waxer together to teach them what was done wrong to prevent an errors. It helps the employees learn and ensures the customer will come back for more. Clearly customer service has dropped significantly since I've worked in it. This isn't a bad review on the model or the location itself, it's on the lack of professionalism of the company. They came recommended and never again. I just had a appointment with them and one the manager is very rude and not a manager, the receptionist is a little girl and rude and the staff are not polite . I don't know who is hiring these people but they don't want to make no money , I had only been late by 10 mins they said they late policy is 9 mins , with 6 appointments free online for today . They said they had a meeting and couldn't take a wax ? During the day. I think the manager should be fire and the staff should be trained and a real late policy should be implemented . 9 mins ? Today was my first time visiting European Wax Center in Olney, I was nervous and excited at the same time. When I walked in Naomi greeted me and was very professional. While I am waiting to be seen, I was speaking in Spanish with my best friend on the phone. While I am sitting waiting minding my business, Jennifer a front desk associate aggressively tells me to take my call outside. I said to her I am sorry I didn't see a sign that said no phones and looked around to see if maybe I missed it. She said I can't hear myself talk while your talking. I honestly felt like she only had a problem because I was speaking Spanish. I was not loud, I was not even close to the desk area for her to say that to me. I honestly felt discriminated because I am Hispanic and it bother her I was speaking my language. There is no other reason why she would have aggressively spoken to me with a nasty tone. If it wasn't that I was leaving on vacation I would have canceled my appointment and left. It just really hurts that it was my first time there and I was treated like this. Charelle did an amazing job and spoke to me thru the process. It's sad that one persons behavior can really destroy a business. I would not go back unless that lady is no longer there she makes me feel so uncomfortable and like I didn't belong there. read more

But today I went to the new location in Olney for the first time for a complimentary Brazilian wax , Christy V. was my wax specialist and she did a terrible job. had a great first waxing experience at EWC! contactless check-in instructions were at the door and it made for a very seamless process with you scanning a QR code for an SMS field that automatically gives u a prompt to put your name for check-in. i got my brows done by Charelle, who was fantastic and made the experience very welcoming and soothing. she explained the process clearly while being fun and informative with educating me. i wasnt looking for any major changes to my brows, just wanted to clean them up since i havent touched them since before covid. Charelle helped me put into words what i wanted out of our wax session and i appreciate her being upfront with what she was going to do! i felt really comforted with her telling me exactly where she was going to wax (without me asking at all, which i appreciate even more) and that she was not going to take away any of my eyebrows' natural volume (i have HATED when this has happened to me in the past w poor communication at prior waxing appointments elsewhere). overall, great experience! Charelle is fantastic at what she does (has been waxing for YEARS) and very fun specialist to have an appointment with. i recommend anyone to come here but i personally probably wont come back since Olney is a bit far from me and i found out there's an EWC closer to me. hopefully other locations are as great as this one! read more

I had an appointment today and was disappointed to see when I got home that even though I told Jennifer at the front desk to add 15% tip to my card (which is on file), she added over 20%. Everyone here is great. They are polite, welcoming, and management cares! Can't tell you how important that is. If a customer complains about an experience, it must be taken seriously. They do just that, and all of their employees are kind and LISTEN to customers' needs and concerns. I saw Melody as my wax specialist when I visited EWC in Olney. I received 3 services at my appointment and she was very professional and took her time to do a good job. She gave me aftercare instructions on things to avoid and things to do after my waxing. I have been to other EWC locations and didn't receive the same level of customer service as I did when I saw Melody! I was very happy with the results of my waxing. Really disappointed with my experiences here. My first time here, I was walked in on while receiving a brazilian wax... then heard the GSAs laughing about it in the hallway. I am 99% positive I was the only guest even in the center, so I'm extra confused as to how this happened. Despite this, Christy did do a great job. You'd think I probably wouldn't return after that experience, but it is the most convenient location for me, and I only needed an underarm wax. My reservation was for 10:30, and around 10:40 I asked how much longer it would be... It wasn't until 10:45 that the waxer came out and told me it would be another 10 minutes! I didn't have time to wait and left extremely frustrated. Needless to say, I won't be coming back to this location. read more

I would give them zero stars if I could but I can't post my review without selecting at least 1 star. Stay far away from this place. Dealing with real world issues like layoffs and fighting to hold on to your job, and I called to make a waxing appointment and was told that I missed 3 appointments, which I called and cancelled at least 2 for sure. Obviously management does not like it if you have to cancel your appointments because you have to work to hold on to your job. So it's a shame that their technicians will suffer, but I wouldn't go back near this place when there are hundreds of wax shops everywhere that gladly book appointments. read more

I love EWC! I used to go to another salon but it didn't have the hard wax, only the hot wax with strips. Boy, oh boy, did it hurt and I kept thinking it would get better but it never did. When I went to EWC, I found out about the hard wax and fell in love. I didn't feel a thing. My favorite is Mona. She does a wonderful job. Oh by the way, I'm very shy and she always makes me feel at ease and comfortable in my skin - LOL. Mona is so personable, friendly and so funny. When I have an appointment, I laugh so hard and before I know it, the appointment is over. The center is very clean and has a nice decor. The front desk is very friendly, too. Avoid Ellora at all costs. It was only after she finished waxing my eyebrows that she informed me she had taken it upon herself to change the shape. It's taken me two months to grow them back. I just left after the worst two and a half hours of my life. None of my services were fully completed. For the first hour and a half instead of telling me that my room was too hot and the wax wasn't properly cooling, Shameka (my waxer) just decided to keep going over the same areas over and over and OVER again with scalding hot wax that I told her many times was burning my skin. She then tried to do my full bikini wax with a set of tweezers (after burning off a good layer or two of skin). When I asked why there was so much tweezer work going on THEN she decided to tell me about how the room was too hot and "did I want her to put me in a new room?" I obviously did, as she had already done an awful job on the front of my legs and I didn't think I could just leave with a half done bikini wax and the front of my legs done. Once in the new room she started doing the same thing to the backs of my legs. Going over them over and over, not giving nearly enough time for the wax to harden, and I finally had to stop her because I felt physically sick from the pain. She snottily asked if I would like to come in and see someone else at a different time and I let her know I wouldn't be returning to this location.
