I called and spoke to Rick over the phone who pretty much diagnosed my problem then and there.
He took a long amount of time to explain what was happening and why and gave me a rough phone estimate of the repair if it was what he suspected it was. He gave me something to try to see if it responded the way he thought it would, it did.
I was able to make a quick appointment for the following day and drop it off. I got a call a few hours later once they had assessed and was informed of the true issues which included the original guess plus two more.
Repairs were promised for the next day and he explained in more detail what was happening and provided some suggestions for continued maintenance of my somewhat older, higher mileage Volvo now (its a 2012 with 104,000 miles).
The car was ready bright and early the next morning for me, and was ready for about $500 less than the original quoted amount. I was able to pay via phone and pick it up at my leisure with the keys locked inside it.
So far so good! The car is running smoothly, it's clean, repairs are complete and the check engine light is off.
I could not be happier at this point with how this went. Friendly and informative phone call, quick appointment (at Volvo dealership it was going to be 2+ weeks for my car with check engine light to be seen), fast repairs (1 day), and less than quoted amount.
Rick was at no time demeaning or spoke down to me because I'm female and trust me, this happens a lot when it comes to cars and repairs, and I really appreciated that he took the time to explain to me what he thought was happening, in detail, but without being pedantic or patronizing while doing it. Big props. read more
