I have super curly biracial hair. Straight it is to my butt but when it is curly it shrinks up to a little pass my shoulders. I've been caring for my hair all of my life. I couldn't figure out what to get by the descriptions, so I called and got Jason on the phone. I explained to Jason that my hair is very curly and it very long making it a bit harder to deal with and asked for his advice since I only wanted a wash and style. Jason told me that all the stylists there were equally qualified to do my type of hair, and that I could get the Express Service to fit my needs and leave with my hair wet to return to work. At service- Jason got started on my hair, he told me that they wouldn't do an in depth consultation because I was just getting an express service, I replied; "but you will tell me if something is wrong with my hair right?" Jason answered with a yea of course, sorry I made it seem worse than what it is, we will give you some pointers. During the service he keeps telling me what I was doing wrong he said the products I use are too heavy and that I use a harsh shampoo to wash all of it out and that is damaging for my hair. That I need to stop using a comb because I cause breakage by combing from root and dragging the knots down. I comb my hair from the tips up, and he finger combed my hair from the root down. I could hear the snaps at the ends of my hair and see my hair in his fingers and all over the floor. This was obviously more breakage and hair loss than normal. However, I just let it be because I've had worse stylists, and like a dummy I didn't want to offend him. Besides, I have tons of hair so one session of this isn't going to make a big deal. The last comment was about my ends looking frizzy while he had my head in the shampoo bowl, and it was because my ends were super tangled since he was finger combing from the root to tip and not doing a good job by removing the shed hair through the ends. Jason did say some nice things , he said my hair was beautiful and long and that he can tell that I take really good care. After my hair was styled he recommended their products since Shea Mosture is a terrible line according to them. I wasn't sure how my hair was going to turn out when dry, since there was white stuff all over it. Jason assured me that it will look how it is, but without the white residue. I bought the products since I thought maybe he is right and that these products would be a step up. When I got home and my hair dried, it looked and felt terrible. There was white stuff and it was stiff with flakes flying. So I called the salon, but got no answer. I had to drive to the salon to speak to someone the next day to return the products and Jason was there, he said there was an issue because I left the salon and he couldn't fix it when it dried. He admitted to putting too much product in my hair to clump my curls. This would be reasonable to me if he didn't tell me that it would be fine for me to leave, if this is a thing wouldn't it be reasonable to tell the customer they can't leave on their first visit with their hair still wet? You cannot over compensate for something not working, by applying a ton more. Fast forward, it looked like my bank only counted one hair product back for a refund, so I called the salon again, no answer again. I went to the salon and this time talked to owner and I went over the story of why I returned the product and about my refund. The salon owner kept making excuses for the service, when all I wanted was my refund. First he said I got more service than I paid for, and that I need to read the description next time online before choosing a service. That would make sense, IF I didn't call and get a recommendation from them! Then he said I needed a more experienced stylist someone who will put treatments in my hair and cut where necessary. This would be reasonable IF Jason didn't tell me all of the stylist there was equally qualified to do my hair type and I don't want strangers to cut my hair so that is not an option for me. I need to know if they can even do my hair first before they use scissors. Then, he said my hair was heat damaged and that I don't wear it natural and wear it in mostly twist outs which also causes "some issues". At this point, I just said thank you and stopped going back and forth with this guy, since it was obvious that he was making things up. I don't have any heat damage in my hair, I flat iron my hair once a year and probably less than that. My hair has the same curl from to tip and is very soft and full. AND I don't mostly wear twists and there is no way he could know what I do to my hair. I was wearing twists during this conversation and he only saw me twice in my entire life. The people in this salon are very unprofessional and outright judgmental. I was surprised because I didn't think the owner of a business would be so unprofessional by blaming their customers for things that are caused by their poor judgment. Never again read more
