The Smoke & Oak has been on my wish list list for a while and I'm happy I finally went! The location is nondescript, looking like a normal house from the street were it not for the sign. Street parking was not difficult to find. Inside, the ambiance is great. Soft warm lighting, ample plush leather chairs for seating, attractive displays of cigars and a huge selection of whiskeys. The staff are passionate, knowledgeable, and friendly and made great recommendations. Walking in as a complete novice felt intimidating, and they made it much easier than I expected. I was taught basic terminology and options on pairings. Pricing felt reasonable and fair. The atmosphere was extremely laid back and relaxing. Socializing and networking with the other men was fun. I appreciate how accommodating they are as well. Whether I come during the week (they started $5 drink specials on Wednesdays) I can pull up and have a drink and bring my laptop or come on a Friday for Ladies Night and have a DJ spin and I'm on the dance floor. Whatever you are feeling, they have it. You also never know who you're going to meet. I think it's also a great place for networking. They do have options if you'd like to do a private event or celebrate something special. There is plenty of space and a very large parking lot. She didn't say anything to us but the black server immediately came out and told us we needed to leave because of our attire. We were kempt and professional, yet casual. The humidor is well stocked with many lines from a few brands, rather than stocking a few lines from a bunch of brands. I like this approach. They have an extensive selection of Fuentes and Padrons, and feature Drew Estate in a smaller humidor in the main room. If I had more time I would have enjoyed having them walk me through some of the brands I did not recognize. I was also impressed by the low pressure sales strategy. I went in looking for a butane insert for my Zippo lighter and the guy (regret not getting his name) said they didn't carry them because they could not compete with Amazon pricing. He then walked me through their selection of butane lighters, from $8 disposables up to $100 Xicars (we didn't look at the Duponts b/c not in my price range). I ended up buying a $60 Xicar and can of butane and left very happy. It's not the biggest store, but what they carry is smartly curated. There are seats and ashtrays on the front porch of the house for smoking, and I think you can also smoke inside as I spied a lounge in the back. I n addition to the name, the location is a bit unusual, across the street from a park in a residential neighborhood a couple of blocks off of Stratford Road. So, it is not at all hard to get to, but it's no place you would just drive by and stop at on the spur of the moment.
