Thank you Dayton!! Hands down my favorite tattoo artist in Portland! Not only is Dayton an incredibly talented artist, he's also one of the nicest humans I've had the please of meeting. I came into the shop with a weird tattoo request and wasn't sure if my idea would translate into a cool tattoo. Dayton not only was able to make my idea come to life, he made it even better than I could have ever hoped for. I've since gotten a few more tattooos, in different styles from him and they all have surpassed my expectations. Some of the tattoos are in areas hard to get a good photo of. Not a big fan of this place or its owner Drat. I showed up to an appointment I made with him and he told me that he is going to be busy tattooing his friend and I could get tattooed by someone else at the shop that is available. The lack of respect for my time was unbelievable. This was the last time I went to him. It's been many years since then and I found that most of the tattoos I've gotten from here have been tattoos I have covered up. What a waste of time and money it's been. Had I just done a little bit more research I would have found plenty of shops with better artists and vibes. If you'd like your tattooer to act like he is all that and get over charged for mediocre tattoos that at best mimic real Japanese art then Drat is the guy for ya. read more

I was tattooed by Innokenty after finding his work on Instagram and flying all the way from Texas to have his work on my body. He was responsive to DMs and communicated succinctly but well. Because I was not local, we did my half sleeve in two consecutive days. He was gentle, but thorough, and we took breaks every hour (I took the time to swig sugary sodas). My tattoo is absolutely gorgeous and I'm thrilled. I can't wait to see how it heals. The shop itself is a lovely, huge shared space for all the artists with a great vibe and is behind a locked entrance so you don't worry about any randoms coming in and disturbing your session. While there I talked to Drat and Adam who both seem like sweet folks. Could not recommend Innokenty and his colleagues more. read more

I was excited to have found an artist who specialized in Japanese tattoo art. First off the place was clean and spacious (hence why I didn't give 0 stars). The staff was nice. My tattoo was done in under 2 hours. My tattoo artist did a beautiful job, however....I ended up with impetigo and have been dealing with it for weeks now. On and around my tattoo I have water blisters and they itch. I also found out impetigo is contagious. There could've been many factors as to how I got this disease. But he took a smoke break and a phone call during my session and don't recall washing his hands. Unfortunately I am not going back due to this. read more

I had the most amazing session with Dayton Skuse here and Ever True. About 2 months before my appointment I sent him a photo of what I was trying to get done, and he kept in constant contact with updates. The day of my appointment I met him at the studio and we jumped right into it. When he showed me the design I couldn't have been happier. It was better than I could have even imagined! Scott made the appointment very comforting and explained everything to me since it was very obvious I was nervous. Once I finally got there (thanks PDX traffic) they didn't have any spots available. However, once I explained the situation, how I'd spoken to someone on the phone that morning and how I had driven all the way there, they said they could squeeze me in. My siblings and I had an amazing experience at Ever True! Everyone that I had talked to leading up to the appointment and once we got there was so kind. This was my first tattoo experience (naturally I was riddled with anxiety) and Davis made the whole process so chill and so easy. I will admit, I was a pain in the ass and had him redo the sketch a few times but he was such a trooper (and again so kind) and listened to exactly what we wanted and delivered well beyond our expectations. I've had a lot of tattoos, but ever true stands tall at the top of the heap. The shop itself is extremely clean, open and inviting. The owner, Drat, has done all my work there and it's very clear that he is a quality over quantity kinda guy. Rather than burn through some design so he can get another sucker in the chair he pours over details with a level of craftsmanship one always hopes for but seldom finds when it comes to a permanent art piece. He's patient but opinionated. He knows his craft and if a piece isn't going to come out the way you think it will he will let you know AND come up with a way that it WILL work. He has saved me from at least a few ideas that sounded better in my head-THANKS DRAT! Of all points I would say his line work is what impresses me most. I can't draw a geometric shape on paper to save my life, and this dude is putting multiple in perfect alignment on a wriggling, mushy, 3D form....wild. read more

BEWARE of this place. I recently got a tattoo from here, I walked out crying!! I spent $285 on this horrible tattoo! It was nothing like what I wanted. And the whole experience was terrible and scary. I walked in after paying for 2hr parking. I showed "Drat" what I wanted and immediately he told me that I don't want the and all be all in my first tattoo. I than started panicking since this is what I have had my mind on for a few months now. I started to change my mind and than he changed it for me. I even wanted and small eagle, globe and anchor as a charm on the anklet to symbolize my husband who is a Marine. He said I didn't rate it. This should have all been red flags for me to leave. But I was determined. He even made me sit there for an hour while he watched videos and answered emails. I asked how much longer since I had a meter to feed. He said go ahead and feed the meter after he drew on my ankle with permanent marker. I moved my car and than with his first stroke he went straight down the middle of my foot. Like he was trying to prove a point. After he was finished I'll let u be the judge of how horrible it is and not worth ur time or money to come here!!!
