I got a tattoo from no other than Devon. She's an old friend of mine prior to her working here and I haven't seen here more in her element than at this establishment. Besides her being an amazing person inside & out. This was my very first tattoo. I remember telling her years ago "I want to get one" after looking at all her pieces she has. It sort of feels full circle for the fact we spoke about it and she ended up being the one I came too. She made me so comfortable and it's so clean here. I'm not a fan of needles (but who really is?) but through our conversation, I barely felt anything! Super nice place, big and everyone was welcoming. I love the decor. As my friend Shelly is finishing up her schooling at Forbidden Body Art I figured I would swing in and get tattooed by her...for insanely inexpensive I must add. I could not be happier. The shop is clean, environment is great, and everyone there is positive and professional. I got a rather large piece done on my rib cage and it turned out great. The students here do some amazing work and they are very careful and precise. If you don't mind being in a room while 4-5 other folks are getting tattooed I would highly recommend it. I've been in about five times now for ongoing work. The place is always clean and the staff is always friendly and professional. I always enjoy my time there. They play good music too :) Damon is the artist I've worked with so far. Working a half sleeve right now. I couldn't be happier with him. His work is great and he's given great after-care advice. He has a steady and gentle hand. Occasionally, a student will observe while Damon is working on my Tattoo. They have always been very friendly as well. The additional conversation is good and I get to learn some things about the tattoo process and techniques while getting my tattoo. It's an interesting bonus! I would refer this place to anyone. My experience here was excellent from start to finish. The shop is impeccably clean and comfortable. I worked with Austin, who custom drew a phoenix for me, and made all the adjustments I asked for to get it perfect for me. He was patient and gracious about it. He even stayed late to get the work done right - no cutting corners or speedy work just because it was late. He was meticulous and professional, and his attention to hygiene was great. COULDN'T BE HAPPIER! I just got my second tattoo from Jamie (Lady Bond) and she is the epitome of a true artist and professional. I emailed her several designs with a description of what I wanted and she was ready with a design when I got to my appointment. It needed a few small changes and she was great about listening to what I wanted, redrawing the design multiple times, and positioning it until it was just right. Her work is immaculate and she makes the whole experience very enjoyable. She's down to earth, has a great sense of humor, and makes you feel totally comfortable. Great School. I attended this school as a full on newbie. I had my own struggles and the school assisted me where they could or adjusted to my personal life. You have to work hard on your own but in the building you always have a hand if you just ask for it. Nice teachers, co-workers, artists, students. This is my favorite tattoo spot in Portland. The students do great work and the licensed artists all have their own styles and their work is amazing. The artists are very professional and create a comfortable and fun environment to get tattooed in. There are flash specials going on now every few months where you can get great deals on select pieces designed by the artists in the shop for a decent price, just make sure you get there early! Forbidden is as good as it gets when it comes to tattoo schools. I attended the program to attain my tattooing license and had a wonderful experience from start to finish. A pretentious group of so called "artists" who have too much invested in their own hype! The atmosphere is cold, the people are obnoxious and judgmental. If you do not fit into their little circle of friends.... Run don't walk away! Not worthy of a single star. With so many "Great" Tattoo studios around, do your research. I thought I did. Very Disappointed with a particular Tattooist ("Lady" jade).... who comes highly hyped and recommended. VERY disappointed!!!!!! Not an ounce of professionalism on her part, not to mention a lack of respect and interest. It is a privilege to be chosen as an artist to tattoo someones flesh..... NOT a given! Treat each canvas with respect and dignity and you just might be worthy of being called an artist. Well, I got tattooed by my friend who was attending this tattoo school. The employees barely even helped her during the tattoo. They would pretty much just walk by, barely look at her work and say it looked great. The teachers barely have any tattoos themselves which I thought was strange. One teacher had ZERO visible tattoos. Weird. And the main girl that was helping the students out looked no older then 18! From what she's told me, it sounds like all the teachers have been tattooing for less than a year. I have been bugging her about getting a touch up, but, they are trying to suspended her for complaining to the state of Oregon about the program (she obviously wasn't learning anything from these kids that are trying to teach there). She just wants to get what she paid for. $8,000 worth of training is what I believe she paid. She worked everyday for months trying to save up enough money so that she could get her tattoo license. I'd like to get my tattoo touched up, but, apparently they try to kick anyone out who has an opinion. They owe this poor girl her money back. WORST TATTOO SHOP IN PORTLAND! read more
