I will admit, this is gonna be a short one. I have not gotten a tattoo here as of yet. I came in to see about a touch-up on an existing one. Before I left Texas, I tried to get in touch with my artist, but was unable to contact him to fix up some work he did several months ago. I've hit up at least five or six shops around the southeast here and I still plan on checking out a few more, but I liked the atmosphere of the place. I spoke to an artist named Spike and his specialties are traditional and Japanese. They charge $120 an hour, which is on the high end of the shops I've visited but I'm pretty sure he does some good work. The shop looks like it's been around for some time. my first time visiting portland, let alone the fact that i was only around the area for work. i've been wanting to get my second tattoo for a while now and thankfully i managed to get it here. something about getting a tattoo everywhere BUT the actual place i reside in is my thing, supposedly. anyways, i was a simple walk in. stressed enough trying to find a tattoo parlor to come to for a tattoo and i was occupied in engulfing a scoop of ice cream before hunting for places last second. thankfully this place was open longer and later than most parlors which i like. i had read after gaining my tattoo that this seems to be one of the oldest parlors around! how cool is that? anyways it's not too difficult to find the place, two story building so when you step inside you're welcomed by the logo sign and the staircase to bring you up and over to where the magic really begins. patrick is the one who did my work and i was really happy with the results. i didn't have anything in mind and just showed him vague images of inspiration. told him what floral print i wanted etched over my skin and the placement. i have a mole and i was concerned that it was covered not that it mattered that much, but he kept it! i was so happy about that haha. nonetheless, i will admit it was a bit more painful than my first. expected from the placement and the wonderful line work and details. it was totally worth it all. patrick had a sense of humor that was relatable and he was constantly checking up on me too during the process which is appreciated. also, the art work placed on the walls helped as well. heh. thank you patrick again! the tattoo currently healed very well and everyone loved it a lot. i've been receiving compliments during work and outings when people notice it. their prices were reasonable, pieces and artwork fantastically done and the people there were considerate. they'll make your ideas come to life! read more

Although I'm sure others have had positive experiences at this location, we had a very negative experience. From the moment we walked in, the man behind the counter, (unfortunately, we failed to get his name) spoke in a condescending and demeaning tone to us. It was my friend's birthday and we finally decided tonight was the night we would get the tattoos we'd talked about for a while. This artist did not offer insight or input to the ideas we shared, but rather belittled us for the general ideas we had. He appeared disinterested and seemed to take zero pride in his art or ideas. We were under the impression that meeting with a tattoo artist also meant collaboration with the artist. If you are looking for a place for your first tattoo and would appreciate input, common courtesy and pride from the artist, we do not recommend Sea Tramp. read more

Got my first tattoo here about 5 months ago, a small hams (hand) design on my inner lower arm. I got it in white, which the workers were very rude about. I got a lot of attitude from the one with the slicked back hair and almost considered leaving because of it. He told me that they don't even do those because they fade, which is ridiculous because that was part of the reason I was paying for it in the first place. I didn't come to ask for your opinion I came for you to give me a tattoo! The guy that did mine was very nice, he works Sundays through Tuesdays. My tattoo was a little pricey and the design is a LITTLE crooked but otherwise I was pretty pleased. It took less than ten minutes and I get free touch-ups. It was his first white tattoo so it's okay if it's a little offcolored, I'm hoping that will change or improve with touchups. Overall, good place that's unique, but customer service definitely needs work. read more

Went in here at midnight on the Fourth of July to get a tattoo-- I had decided to go through with it before thinking my way out of it, and it was the only tattoo parlor in town that I know of that is open late into the night (they close at 2am!), so this was where I ended up. It was a simple tattoo-- small, just two letters, on my forearm. While I did have to wait for about an hour and a half (there was an entire family getting tattoos ahead of me), I was really happy with the work. Skot was my tattoo artist and he did a great job; took about five to ten minutes altogether for the actual tattooing, and I was outta there. The place has a really good feel to it and the artists there are really professional, positive, and easygoing. I went in again with a friend today, and she was tattooed by Dave, who was also great. The shop has a good vibe, which is important, I think, and a lot of this is due to the artists' there and their overall demeanors. I've been into tattoo parlors before where the artists have been condescending, snappy, and had a "my way or the highway" attitude about them, and there was NONE of that here. Though the work I had done was really straightforward and minimalistic, it was done well, and judging by the work I've seen being done on people in there (as well as from looking through the portfolios), these guys are on top of it. They did a great job on me and a great job on my friend. If I ever want another tattoo, this is where I'll be going. read more

I had been getting tattooed in a sketchy dive shop in seattle for awhile, and was quite frankly almost done with getting tattoos for good. I ended up just walking in to seatramp, with an idea for a tattoo as a gift for someone. We told Jason what she wanted and when we returned a few days later, I was surprised that he had drawn up quite a few versions of the idea we had, and let us pick which one she likied best. 2 years later, and I am still getting happily getting tattoos from Jason! I had a few hours to kill before I flew out so I went here on a recommendation from another tattoo shop for a cheap, simple walk in tattoo. The tattoo artist was named Sammy, he is fairly new and is not listed on the shop's tattoo website. Tall, glasses, unfortunate amount of butt crack on view. I told him very clearly that I wanted a green heart with an outline. I showed him with my fingers how large I wanted it, about 2 inches and he went to work drawing the sketch. Easy speeshy, right? NOT. He came back with a microscopic sized heart, so I had him re-draw it. Again, showing the 2 inches. Second time, Sammy got it right. Now price, he quotes me $70-100!!! This is clearly a $50 minimum tattoo if not less. He said he had to "redraw" the sketch which took time--it's a fucking HEART. At this point, I don't have time to go somewhere else so I bargain him down to $60. So then he tattoos me and he's done in like 3 minutes. Clearly this is not right. I take a look at what he's done and he's tattooed a green heart OUTLINE, not filled. So I say to Sammy, WHAT is this? And he "acts" confused about what I wanted and says it will cost MORE money because of time--more like because he's trying to squeeze all the money he can get out outta me. So now my 2 inch tattoo is up to $70. I can't believe I left this fool a tip, he was clearly ripping me off because he thought it was my first tattoo. Hope it was worth it Sammy, and you do something about that crack--it's a real eye sore. read more

I walked in late one night and brought in a not so great design drawn by me haha and I was greeted by Patrick . He made me an appointment for that next Monday . Having a cancelation he fit me in on Sunday . When I came in that Sunday the drawing was awesome and exactly what I was looking for . We got started really quick . The whole time I felt comfortable and he and another artist kept a good conversation going . he kept checking with me to make sure it was looking how I wanted it to and that I was okay which I was really greatful for. I have been a loyal customer to Skot for the last 6 years and I have brought him multiple new customers. He does great work but his attitude and communication has been progressively getting more and more disrespectful. We discussed a future touch up during my last session, since the tattoo I was getting was a big, colorful tattoo and now he all of a sudden has certain requirements for what qualifies as a touch up. One requirement is now that he had to have forgotten something, well he did, he left a whole section colorless that I asked to be colored in, HE said wait until the touch up to fill it in, so I did, but now he wants to back out of the touch up and charge me, when that has never been his deal before. He was the one that said it would need a touch-up because it was a large tattoo with lots of detail and color that was being done in one session rather than two. When I contacted him about a touch-up on a few small areas including the area that he purposely left uncolored, he proceeded to tell me that I could get a touch-up if I came in and got something new done at the same time. I don't always have money to come in and get something else done. This tattoo is a memorial tattoo that means a lot to me and there are very obvious areas that need touched up. My Tattoos have never healed incorrectly and I know how to care for them. This tattoo healed extremely well but as it happens in many people's cases, sometimes the ink does not take everywhere on the body and other times if tattoos are large with lots of color they need touched up just because of that reason alone. A long time ago Skot gave me his personal cell number so it would be convenient to reach him in order to discuss future tattoos. I am always up early for work and it did not cross my mind that it was only 8:30 a.m. when I texted him one morning. He replied with a rude comment saying "his hours are not at 8 a.m. and not to text him that early again... EVER." There was no please or any sort of manners in that text at all. Assuming he was awake because I got a response I texted him back and apologized and ask him if he would like me to reach him later to finished our discussion or if you wanted to talk at that moment. He then replied with an even more rude comment using curse words and telling me he blocked me from his phone. It was completely uncalled for and there was no reason for him to speak to me that disrespectfully. I fully understand that he has certain hours for clients to text him and as I said the time did not cross my mind, however, whether he gives someone his personal number or not, in my opinion, he still needs to be professional and speak to clients with respect rather than swearing at them and talking to them extremely rudely. I feel so hurt and disrespected. I wish he didnt turn out to be so extremely rude because I am sad having to switch artists... read more

His original flash work is pretty great but I don't recommend him for anything else. I have a lot of tattoos by other artists and really wish someone else had done this one.
