Sometimes you do things just for your mama. That said, my mom really loves Indian flavors and so I knew I would score some brownie points if I brought her to check out Everest Chilli Pepper, a new Indo-Chinese/Nepalese place in West Roseville. The restaurant is in the former location of a Mongolian BBQ, right next to the Almond Tree Lounge that once hosted the now infamous John H UYE (iykyk). Anyways, we walked in and were greeted and told to sit anywhere we liked and offered complimentary chai tea. I had mine iced because it was still in the high 90s outside. My mom is tougher than me so she had it hot. The menu does a pretty good job of separating vegetarian from meat dishes with "Veg" and "NonVeg" descriptions, but if you're vegan you'll need to clarify for sure. I had my heart set on vegan momos, but sadly I learned that the Veg momos here all contain cheese. What a bummer. Maybe management reads this and offers a fully plant-based momo option soon. We ordered samosas, Gobi Manchurian, Veggie Biryani, and Veggie Korma (they can make it vegan by leaving out the butter if you ask). The samosas were average, so I'd skip those next time, but the entrees were terrific! In particular, the veganized Veggie Korma was full of rich flavors and a real standout. The Biryani was loaded with veggies and some of the best I have ever had. We also really enjoyed the Gobi Manchurian that had a nice kick to it. I'd order all three of those again in a heartbeat. Service was good but they don't bring your check to the table, so be prepared to go to the front counter to settle up. We left full, happy, and with leftovers. The food was outstanding! Service was good. And the setting is quite comfortable and relaxing. Although the samosas were good, they were not as good as I had hoped. The pan fried lamb momos on the other hand were absolutely superb! After the appetizers we ordered paneer butter masala, garlic naan, chicken pakora, and boneless chicken biryani. The new Nepalese/Indian Chinese restaurant, Everest Chilli Pepper, has its Grand Opening on July 8-9, 2023, with 25% off. It is located in the same plaza with Almond Tree, occupying what used to be a Mongolian BBQ restaurant. It is run by a Nepalese family: a married couple and the wife's brother. I ordered one item: lamb momos with jhol, which is a chilled, spiced, nutty, tomato-based chutney soup. I was a bit surprised that the jhol is chilled, but that's a traditional way to serve it. The momos are beautifully wrapped with 12 folds. Meat was tender. I thought the dumplings were quite large. You get 9 momos in an order. Momos are steamed if you order the jhol option. I might skip the jhol in the future because the spices left a lingering aftertaste for many hours. I'm delighted that the steamed dumplings tasted good and held up well, so I don't have to wonder how more more I'd enjoy pan fried. Steamed is healthier anyway. I learned that Nepal doesn't really use chopsticks, so the restaurant doesn't offer chopsticks currently. Wikipedia says China, Japan, Korea, and Vietnam use chopsticks heavily. Other Asian countries really only use chopsticks for noodles. I am too accustomed to eating xiaolongbao with chopsticks, a Chinese soup spoon, and small dipping sauce dishes! I had a hard time adjusting to a fork, a regular spoon, and a medium bowl of soup. The restaurant is spacious. It was a bit warm in the restaurant. I wished the water was served with ice. Servers checked on me during my meal to make sure I liked the food, but I ended up getting up from my seat to pay at the counter. In the future, I would be interested in ordering the following: - Pani Puri, which I probably saw on Instagram - Chicken Kathi Roll, which I saw on Netflix's "Indian Matchmaking" - Chicken Thukpa Soup = Tibetan or Himalayan noodle soup Happy I don't have to drive to Sacramento to find momos anymore! Mom and I popped in for a late lunch. We were the only people there in the beginning. The restaurant was super clean. The menu was a mix of popular Indian food and popular Chinese food, but we wanted to try some things that we hadn't before. We ended up ordering the chicken jhol momo, and the lamb chili. The Momo was delicious. The bottoms were pan seared, and the filling was tasty. The jhol sauce was absolutely amazing. It was tangy with some spice, but not overwhelming. I could have eaten the sauce with a spoon, it was delicious. The lamb chili was reminiscent of Peking ribs, with more of a flavorful seasoning. The lamb chunks were cooked perfectly, crispy around the edges, but chewy and moist in the center. We also had some garlic naan, which was also fantastic. The food and service were exceptional! Stopped here after car shopping, very close to the auto mall in Roseville. Looks like they probably have a larger take out operation versus dining in. We were the only ones in the restaurant! Clean open space with plenty of seating and the staff is super friendly. We ordered a ton of food so we'd have left overs plus we had to bc they had pani puri and momos plus samosas. All excellent choices which I highly recommend. We also ordered saag paneer, daal tadka, and veggie korma plus garlic naan. The korma is more tomato based than cream but still very tasty. We had the chance to visit this restaurant recently. It's a find your own table and prepare for a wait, no frills service. The pan fried momos with accompanying sauce was amaaaaaazing! Loved that you can specify your spice level and that it won't be translated as super spicy! (I'm talking to you, SF) The chicken chowmein is exactly what I would expect at a Chinese restaurant but for some reason can't find a good one in the 916 area. (My go to would still be in the Bay Area). Shredded chicken, veggies, flavorful esp with soy sauce and well proportioned. This was our first family visit to this restaurant for dinner and let me tell you they did not disappoint. The food was perfect. Great portion sizes, and FLAVOR town all day! We asked them to make our food spicy and he asked us what level from 1 to 10 lol we said 8 and we got a good little sweat going! The customer service was extremely friendly, our server which happened to be the manager- Onis, was so nice! He made recommendations and also provided us with dessert on the house! When he saw us sweating from eating their spicy "level 8" he stated he knows we can't handle their spiciest lol I love it! Because we will definitely be back to try the rest of their menu. This was a random find. One rainy weekend, while scrambling for a new Indian place to find, stumbled into this place, which became a new lunch favorite. Their looks can be deceiving from the outside and the inside with the old school cafeteria vibe. Having lived in the area for 10+ years, I'm surprised I don't know what this was beforehand... The service was great. With friendly, helpful staff, that's on top of the experience. The food was brought out quickly and hot out of the oven. I've tried a few different naans and a couple of curries. Their butter chicken is pretty amazing. This has definitely become one of my favorite spots. Newer restaurant, spring 2023. They have a food truck based out of Mtn. View, Namaste (if I caught the full name incorrectly, unintentional). I haven't tried their food truck, just caught wind of it while standing in line to pay. Now I know what's between Douglas and Lead Hill and I now know the name, Harding Blvd. The steamed momos were neat to try and tasty. Though I recall they provided their flavors in my breathe long after I consumed them. lol! I did take out but the restaurant is clean and comfortable for a no nonsense dine-in experience. Wow! Coming from a SF Bay Area food enthusiast, this spot is a winner. Even my Dad, who grew up near the Himalayas and who has notoriously high standards for Indian food, thought this place was great. We got the following - Momo (several kinds - johl, steamed, pan fried, and chili). Love the soup the johl momo come with, I could drink a quart of that magic elixir on its own. Gobi Manchurian (my favorite) Fish curry Paneer Biriyani Pani Puri A noodle soup Kathi rolls Every dish was a banger. They make everything to order, which means the spicing is perfect and layered. Really excellent variety of flavorful foods. We went deep into the momos and they were fantastic - highly recommend the "chili" momo and the johls! The manchurian was richly flavored and complex but not overpowering, and folks with spice aversion will find you can enjoy the foods here without sacrificing any taste. For spiciness though, the Kathi roll was great (you get two when you order, and they are like loaded tacos for how full you'll feel after eating them). Service was a bit slow but we did come here on Christmas, so I won't hold that against them. It's also a fairly new restaurant. read more

Overall our experience was okay. Here's some details: Mango Lassi was very good and sweet. The vegetable johl momos, pretty great and nice texture. I liked them the most. The lamb pan fried Momos were okay but perhaps a little dry inside. The mixed veggie curry was smoky and slightly sweet (I didn't prefer it but my husband did). The chicken tikka masala was tangy and sweet rather than creamy and spiced, so not what I was expecting. The parathas were amazing and the perfect texture & flavor. The tables and restroom appeared clean. The decorations were somewhat minimalist. The waiter was nice, but we did have some minor difficulties communicating with him. Overall, the place was good. Wow! Everest Chilli Pepper is an incredible find if you like Nepalese food. I've never had anything like some of the dishes I tasted here. The restaurant itself is very clean and nicely decorated. It is also very spacious and there is plenty of seating. Service was very gracious and kind. We ordered an assortment of dishes Momo with jhol: 11/10 soft and large steamed dumplings with a side of soup offered hot or cold. The green soup is a mystery. It is rich with a chicken broth flavor but also another flavor I couldn't put my finger on. It is a must try! This was my favorite dish chili momo: 7/10 the dumplings seemed slightly pan fried in the sweet and spicy chili sauce with other veggies. I liked it a lot but I'm not a fan of sweet so I liked the other momo better. Butter Chicken: 8/10 the butter chicken was so deliciously creamy and the chicken was tender. The only reason I'm not giving it a 10 is because it was a little sweet and again I prefer savory flavors. But it is on all accounts an immaculate dish. Boneless Chicken Briyani: 8/10 I thought it really tasty but it was not my order because I prefer more saucy items and rice dishes tend to be a bit dry for me. However the chicken and rice were well cooked and the rita (yogurt and cucumber sauce) on the side added immensely to the dish. Samosa's: 11/10 Omg the veggie samosa's were so amazing! What a great local restaurant! Service was friendly, portions were huge and most importantly food was delicious. We had the chicken chili momo which was super flavorful with dipping sauces. The butter chicken was creamy and delicious, the garlic naan was a little different than the Punjabi naan I'm used to but still good. It was more crispy than soft and chewy. And my favorite was the chili chicken chow mein, the chicken was crispy and had good spice while the noodles/veggies had good flavor and weren't greasy. My only suggestion is to consider having background music for diners instead of the silence. Lollipop chicken - mildly marinated like tandoori chicken. No complaints, chicken is chicken. Garlic Naan - YUM!! Lamb Curry - yummy. The curry is pretty thick and lots of flavor. Cauliflower Manchurian - kind of like sweet and sour pork in Chinese dining. I enjoyed the flavors. I requested mild spicy and it was perfect. The pakora was crispy and the dipping sauces accentuated the flavors. Chicken chili momo was like deep fried dumpling but with more filling and topped with flavorful chili sauce. Chicken was tender and the masala sauce was simply tasty. Chicken fried rice was perfectly seasoned.. They can make your dish as mild or as spicy as you want. Friendly and fast service, and good sized servings. Calling all Bay Area natives! I feel like I've hit the motherlode of Indian restaurants up here. We've been in the area since early 2020 and have yet to be impressed (with the exception of a place that's relocated to Folsom). From the moment we walked in, we were greeted and welcomed as though we were family. The dining area is super clean and inviting. The menu is balanced and I was impressed with the momos (chicken chili) specifically. we asked for medium spicy and were satisfied, since everywhere else around here is either bland or no flavor when you ask for medium. Real, authentic Indian food should make your nose run; it sure did! We ordered the veggie samosa chaat, which was extremely fresh. Each bit had its own flavor, especially the filling of the samosa. Our parathas were the best we've had -- anywhere. It was flaky and buttery goodness all the way around. The butter chicken was also very tasty; high-quality chicken. I highly recommend it. Curries come with rice and the sauces on the side were flavorful. Try a mango lassi, it was the perfect ending to a meal that far-exceeded expectations! On a road trip and we needed somewhere to stop near Sacramento. We found Everest on yelp and it had good reviews, so we thought we would give it a try. At first glance, I was not sure. It is in a strip mall that has seen better days and the dining room is simple. We soldered on and ordered and we are so happy we did! From the lovely, super welcoming, waiter to the food it could not have been better and I am only bummed they are not closer to where we live! We had the vegetable curry, the dumplings (called momo) to the samosas, and the Kathi roll (which are like a burrito, but with naan). I cannot emphasize just how good all of the food was - incredible. I would come here once a week, if I lived closer!! Ignore the exterior and give it a try. read more

I ordered the chicken momo's which were quite flavorful and filling. I think it also comes in a vegetarian style.
