I was craving Indian food, so I ordered the shahi paneer and vegetable pakoras. The paneer had really great flavor--super cozy and comforting, and honestly delicious in every bite. The pakoras were good as well and it came with a green sauce that had a good kick to it, however the pakoras did seem a little overcooked, almost like they may have been left in too long. My main critique would be the portion size. For about $20, the paneer came in a pretty small container. Usually, my husband and I can share a dish like that at other restaurants and feel full, but this one didn't quite hit the mark for the price. If you want a bang for your buck, this may not be the spot to go. Ambiance: small, cozy spot Service: server was nice and friendly Overall, this place has a lot of potential--just a few minor things here and there. My rating is based on the overall experience, including food, service, pricing, and portion size.

I had a craving for Veggie Momos and my friend knew just the place to try. Even though New Kathmandu Kitchen is in East Sac, parking was surprisingly easy, thanks to their tiny parking lot in the back. On a weekday night after work this was a cinch. I confirmed the Veggie Momos were in fact vegan (believe it or not lots of places sadly put dairy in them) and yes they are. Hooray! But why stop there? Our friendly server helped me navigate the other vegan items (there are several) so we also ordered some Veggie Pakora, Began Bartha, and Mushroom Masala to share. No surprise for me, the Veggie Momos were the star of the meal and had a tasty dipping sauce. Everything else was also good and had plenty of favor. I would definitely come back for more.

The restaurant was nice and quiet on Monday night, so we were able to enjoy a quiet, peaceful dinner with some of the most delicious food. The saag paneer was delicious, but the Chana masala and the coconut chicken curry (mild) were absolutely spectacular. The pakora were all tasty and crunchy without being greasy. The naan were generously portioned and pillowy soft and tender with a great amount of chew, a perfect vehicle for the curries. Service was attentive and accommodated our modifications without issue. Will absolutely be back!

Incredible flavors, generous portions and it's an amazing family run business. Come support these folks and spoil yourself in the process, you will not regret it.

I hate giving a bad review, and originally I would've given this place 2 stars but some many circumstances (allergic reaction/overpriced food) make me actually give it a zero if I could So to start off the service is mediocre, when my family and I can in we were seated quickly but then to order and to get the check we had to head to the counter to ask someone since it took so long. Because Diwali is today they had several online orders and so our three dishes took about 35-40 minutes. Additionally the pricing for the food does not equate to the quality at all. As South Asians I would say my family has a good barometer for South Asian food and there is a lot of room for improvement. The chicken leg was undercooked and pink to the bone, the momo dish's curry seemed to have too much lemon in it but at the same time was so bland???, and the veggie chow mein had an odd aftertaste. Additionally, out of the 200+ dine in experiences we have had at South a Asian restaurants we have never had to pay nearly $7 for TWO pieces of medium sized store bought naan that's the worst rip off I've seen to date. Overall our dinner added up to $70 which is absurd because on average our go to restaurants we can get roughly twice as much food for $80. The final straw was the fennel snack served at the front desk - I don't know what was wrong with it but my entire family had a slight allergic reaction to it orally and as for me I have had the worst/most painful hives of my life from my feet to up to my neck for the last 12 hours (still ongoing/on the come down). These hives started up about 30 minutes after leaving the restaurant so I know it was from here. Additionally the color story and dim fluorescent lighting gives the restaurant a very uncomfortable and claustrophobic ambiance, especially so at night. The red lighting in the bathroom did not help the case. Another thing aboit the service - they do not pick up food left from previous customers until all the tables have left overs it seems, next to where they sat us was someone's leftovers, and in the 1.5-2 hours my family was there the dishes of three other families were never picked up.

I had lunch with my uncle here. The New Kathmandu offers a number of Indian-American fusion dishes. As an appetizer, we ordered Mozzarrella Naan which has melted mozzarella sandwiched between two slices of naan bread. It was like an Indian quesadilla. As a main entree, I had the Chicken Chili. It's boneless chicken, slightly crispy on the outside, in a spicy curry paste with yellow, red, and green bell peppers. The portions were huge. (There's an option for dishes to be mild for those who don't like spicy foods.)

Very authentic, personal, and delicious Indian/Nepalese restaurant in a neighborhood setting. The food is deeply flavorful and bright and the vibes are high. Elite date spot with quick and friendly service.

Pretty good spot, but I don't have this cuisine much so my standards aren't high. Good selection of naan to select from. Easy menu layout to navigate. Had lamb saag and chicken tiki masala with garlic cilantro and basil naan

Food is pretty good. I have tried a couple of different dishes and liked them, especially the chicken korma and chicken saag. The spice level is not as high as other Indian restaurants, so mild level was not flavorful enough for me and went for medium next times. The ambiance is not the greatest, but ok. Service is a little bit slow and they charge an additional 2.6% service fee for paying with credit card, which is not great especially given that the dishes are a bit overpriced and portions are not too big.

I walked here from the hospital I work at for dinner takeout. The restaurant is in an old building on J Street in East Sacramento. There was a small area for dining in and no one was there. My order was ready when promised. Everything looked as expected and tasted very good. The garlic nan was warm and went great with my butter chicken. My vegetable samosa and mixed salad rounded out my meal and I was very satisfied. I will likely come back for takeout.

My visit to New Kathmandu Kitchen was long overdue. I love Himalayan and Nepalese food and have been wanting to try their momos since I first passed by this spot while running errands. I finally had my chance and stopped in for an early dinner with a friend. While I knew I was going to order their Chicken Momos ($15.95 for 10), we also decided to try more of their options. We ordered the medium spicy Chicken Tikka Masala ($16.95) and the Butter Chicken ($16.95) along with rice ($2.95), garlic naan ($4.95) and a Masala Chai ($4.95). I always feel a bit basic ordering things like Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken, but it's a great way to judge flavors with familiar dishes and people love these dishes for a reason. Definitely comfort food! We were there early, so we were the only diners for most of our visit, but it did seem like a lot people were ordering take out and delivery. The wallpaper was gorgeous and they had a fun mural on one of their walls as well. I think next time I'd try to get a seat by the windows for slightly better lighting on my photos, but it was still great where we were sat. The food came out hot and fresh and everything was delicious. The momos were super flavorful and I loved the sauce with them. The butter chicken was SO RED, I wasn't ready for the color but it was striking and tasted wonderful. Even though both the butter chicken and tikka masala was medium spicy, we felt the butter chicken packed a bit more heat. It really will be hard to order different items to try because the tikka masala, butter chicken and momos were so good. The garlic naan is always a nice addition and my friend enjoyed her masala chai. They do have their own parking, but it is TIGHT! Also there is no indication that it is one way so people were turning in from J and 37th and the way the spots are set up it can create a bit of an issue. I was VERY careful as I was leaving and will probably opt for street parking next time.

A true hidden gem. The food was amazing! Everything was fresh and authentic. Our dinner included samosas as appetizers. Then Lentil soup. Followed by the chicken tikka masala, Saag Paneer, side of basmati rice and garlic basil naan. Medium spice was perfect for us. You can taste the flavor but heat doesn't linger or burn you. Service was great, very respectful. Ambiance was cute. I liked their wall decor. I will be coming back. Prices are decent. Worth the money for sure.

Inside the restaurant there is a calming feeling as they were playing slow Hindu chanting music low on their sound system. The first server We began with was very young and maybe learning the menu still as he was really not that good at answering questions on the menu. As soon as we checked in on Yelp, suddenly service picked up. Another more experienced server brought us first, hand towels to wipe out hands (a nice touch, but the towels were almost cold when he brought them, was it an after thought?); and he also brought us complimentary cups of dal that were very tasty. The dishes we got were saag lamb, butter chicken, and organic channa masala, and garlic buttered Naan. Had our first server known how to describe menu better we may have chosen a few different items. He did recommend the butter chicken as one of his favorite so that's why we got it as we often enjoy it other places as well. It was very good, a classic with great sauce, probably the favorite dish. The saag lamb was good too, but we almost got the patak lamb, similar sounding dish but maybe creamier/ other veggie too? But our first server could not really describe difference well. I'm thinking we may have enjoyed the other dish better than saag lamb which was good, but felt the spinach was extremely over cooked, and so finely chopped almost like it was highly minced or powdered? But it was flavorful. The Channa Masala was on the dry side. We we're trying to decide on a saucy vegetable dish and we asked about this dish because we liked that it said organic. That same first server said it was saucy, but not that saucy. Each dish comes with your choice of white or brown rice, or steamed veggies. Two dishes we got brown rice with, and the third we got steamed veggies because we thought there would be more sauce overall to add them too. The rice was allot ( took quite a bit home); the veggies were this nice mix, but so boring with no taste, and what a waste. The veggies even had water floating in bottom of dish. It would be so much nicer if there were an option to have these lightly stirfried with a little flavor as an option ( they were completely bland) , and there was really not enough saucy stuff to add them to so only partially eaten, left remaining there on table instead of taking home with other stuff. We asked for a sample of their side sauces and we got a tiny (like a tablespoon each?) 3 dish sampling of their very tasty homemade mango sauce, tart and tangy cilantro mint sauce, and some sweeter tamarind sauce. But they were very tiny amounts. The Naan was light and crisp, very nice, but could barely taste garlic butter. We asked for our dishes to be medium heat and it was fairly mild for us still, but i guess with American palate, spicy can be relative. But oh well. We also had cups of chai (under $5.00) that had refills, and a glass of house white wine ( Murphy good Sauvignon Blanc was only $8.00 so that was a deal). I'm giving 4 stars for their efforts, but hope they read this so they can improve a few things.

Then ordered 2 large plates of short grain brown rice, kidney beans w/ onion & garlic, baked yam, kabocha & butternut squash w/ garlic, collard greens and kale w/ shiitake mushroom sauce, and a mixed salad w/ basil lemon & agave dressing. Everything was very good. My favorites were the kidney beans, the yam combo, and the greens with the basil lemon dressing. We also got a Bahn Mi. Loved that it was really full. I don't like a skimpy Bahn Mi. For dessert, we took home slices of Coconut Pie, Chocolate Pie, Key Lime Pie, and the Himalaya Pie (layered with key lime, strawberries, coconut, and drizzled chocolate). My favorite was the Key Lime Pie -- tart and creamy. Then the Chocolate Pie, which was soft and indulgent. The Himalaya Pie was fun because every bite tasted a little different. The only one I didn't care for was the Coconut Pie because the texture was a bit hard from the coconut fat. So we got seated and placed our order right away. There were several large screen TVs in the dining area playing various shows. One was displaying beautiful sceanaries from the Himalayas and that captured my attention for the longest time. Soon our food came. We ordered the steamed Chicken Momos, the Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Naan and they all looked very good. We liked the curry, and the momos were fun to eat. It's a bit different but also very similiar to a Chinese bao. The Momo has much thiner skin and the filling tasted slightly different from a plain meat bao. To me, it feels kinda like a larger version of a soup dumpling without the pool of the broth inside. Needless to say, I found myself studying the momos while stuffing them into my mouth as they were quite delicious and easy to eat. Oveall, we were very glad we gave Everest Chilli Pepper a try as we enjoy the food and would like to try more Indo-Chinese dishes on our next visit.

I LOVE Yeti Restaurant in Davis. It is seriously one of my go to spots. My order is pretty basic,…read morebut I get it every single time because it never disappoints. I always go for the butter chicken, medium spicy, and it is so good. The flavor is rich, perfectly spiced, and just hits every time. I also get their garlic naan, which pairs perfectly with the sauce. I usually end up spending around 24 dollars when I add extra rice and garlic naan to the butter chicken, but honestly, it is so worth it. The portions are really generous. It is easily the size of two meals in one, so you can definitely save some for the next day. I have not tried any other Indian food spots in Davis, and to be honest, I do not really feel the need to because this place is just that good. Whether I get it to go or sit down with friends and family, the experience is always great. They are very quick with their service, and even when I order ahead, the food is still hot and ready to go when I pick it up. Overall, this is a spot I will keep going back to. Great food, great portions, and always consistent.

The chicken Tikka is tasty and a great entry into Indian food if you have never been. Chicken momos were a little spicy, so if you don't like spice at all maybe skip them. Yeti hasn't undergone any deep cleans or refurbishing, it could probably use one. The booth chairs are cracking and my wife found them uncomfortable to sit on. The service is typically friendly, and we've never had issues. The only thing that still irks me is charging for a rice refill while eating in restaurant. I'll take it to the grave that rice refills in restaurant should be free.

Food: I was impressed with the variety of food options for their lunch buffet. All food treys had food and it looked fresh as if it's made throughout the day and not just one time. The fried fish, goat curry and chicken tandoori were some of my favorites. I also really enjoyed having some chai with my food, which is also included as part of the buffet. They also have a mango ice cream machine but that's for me to try next time. Service: Upon arrival, I was immediately greeted by the employee with a big smile. He helped me find a seat and guided me on which items were a must try. The employees seem happy and they also check in with you regularly to make sure your experience is going well. If they employees seem happy then it tells you what you need to know about the place. Cleanliness: This place looks clean both outside and inside. I noticed that dirty plates are picked up quickly and no messy food in the buffet area. Floors are clean and the walls look freshly painted. I highly recommend this place and encourage you to check it out for yourself.

One thing that has changed is they no longer have the customer loyalty cards that provided a free buffet after purchasing a dozen or so. But, the food is so good! The goat curry is off the chain! That was a dish that wasn't typically on the lunch buffet years ago, but it was there this visit and it was fantastic! They no longer serve naan and water to each table individually, both are on the buffet to serve yourself. Really the main service now during lunch buffet is clearing plates. The dining room is still kept clean and tables are cleared and reset quickly maintaining a neat and orderly dining area. The decor is traditional Indian artwork that creates a nice vibe for patrons eating in the dining room. I'm sure we'll be back!
