Well, I reserved a table for my wife & I at FATS this evening to Celebrate our 4th year wedding anniversary, 1st time customers. We were seated promptly by our hostess with a smile, and with a "Happy Anniversary", as they remembered. The ambience & lighting was simply perfect, and the 4 Palm Trees inside accentuated our experience, even though they were petrified. I ordered the Bulgogi Pork Lo Mein, which came with Pork loin in a Korean style marinade, grilled and served over lo mein noodles with cabbage, carrots and green and yellow onions. Recipe includes eggs, wheat, soy and shellfish, & the Hot & Sour Soup, while my wife ordered the the Wok, oh, and how could I forget, we enjoyed the Mongolian Ribs as our Starter, everything was cooked to perfection, a High End Chinese Dinner that continued to serenade my taste buds as we drove home.... We cannot forget our waitress, Reina, who was professional, attentive, possessed an intimate knowledge of the menu, and was genuinely a delightful person. The atmosphere there is very luxurious and parking is plentiful. I was with a group and they sat us in a private seating area near the regular seating. We could order from the regular menu or their lunch menu. Most of the ladies and one gentleman chose the regular menu but I liked what the lunch menu offered. Soup does not come with the entrees. It is sold separately. I wanted to try their chicken salad and also ordered soup. I was very disappointed in the amount of chicken in their chicken salad as it was very fine shreds mixed in, probably less than a tablespoon if I had to guess. Mostly lettuce and veggies. The soup was good and our server was attentive. My husband ordered Korean barbequed pork over a large bed of thick noodles. In fact, there were much more noodles than meat which was very disappointing, for the price. This place is very upscale, even giving diners large handled paper bags with their restaurant logo printed on them to take home their leftovers or to-go orders. I sat on writing this review for a couple of days but I could not justify not writing it. The food was good, portions are good size had the orange chicken and the walnut shrimp. The spicy edamame was really good with a kick. The service is what got us and we may not come back. We had reservations 8pm got there at 7:30 was sat very quickly. Was told who our server was and they would be there shortly. After waiting quite a bit server Cynthia finally shows up. Offered water and took order for appetizer. Got waters didn't see her again for about 20 min. Took our order didn't see her again empty glasses didn't have any interaction didn't offer any suggestions didn't have any personality or communication. When food came no one asked if we needed sauces or anything just got food and left. Middle of dinner got informed out waiter was leaving.someone else was taking over. Barely saw anyone our waiter never went home but continued to attend other tables. Some people had their food packed up for them to go I was given a box and a bag and left. Maybe having kids at the table was off putting maybe my husband and I looked too young but the service was absolutely horrible. I have not had an experience like this in a very long time. I did bring this up to management not to get a refund but in hopes another family didn't get the same service. Place is expensive and it was truly hard to enjoy our time. Cameron was the absolute best bartender ever!! We came in close to close (not realizing) and he still took great care of us! This Sunday was super chill and we were the only ones sitting at the bar! Me and my girlfriend decided to come here for our 1 year anniversary and we were not disappointed! Upon entering, we noticed that the restaurant's ambiance was pleasant and not chaotic. The hostess seated us quickly and our servers, Dianna and Gabriel, were spectacular. We ended up getting the Genghis Khan Beef and Hong Kong Chow Mein. Both dishes were full of flavor and the portion sizes were huge. For the Genghis Khan beef, the wontons were crispy and had lots of meaty filling. The flank steak and veggies were cooked perfectly and the gravy was tasty and not too greasy. The Hong Kong Chow Mein was full of flavor and there was a good balance of proteins and veggies. The noodles maintained their crispy texture, which was a plus for us! After finishing our entrees, our servers asked us if we were celebrating anything special and after telling them it was our 1 year anniversary, they surprised us with a complimentary banana cream pie! The pie was out of this world! The bananas were fresh and not mushy, the crust was buttery, and the cream was light and not too sweet. I should have lowered my expectations even before arriving based on the experience of others. To confirm this was not a reflection of this persons service abilities because they were pretty good but our servers hands were Disgusting. Splotchy with paint? Dye? Dirt? Handing me a drink where your hands touch the part where my mouth goes with hands of this condition completely turned us off our food. The employee also had questionable hygiene of their personal scent, hair, teeth, overall made it difficult to enjoy the experience. When it comes to the food, I was very underwhelmed by the offerings. All deep fried, pre frozen foods that I could just as easily buy at a grocery store and cook myself in a few minutes. The table, walls and doors were also quite dirty, sticky from fingers and traffic over time. My family of 10 came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. We were able to make reservations at 6:30 with a 3 hour notice. We were celebrating my sisters birthday, Unitas later reservations at the downtown location but opted to try this place. The service was great, we were seated in front of the fireplace which was nice warm and cozy. We ordered several dishes to share, in general everything tasted good. One of the fish dishes was a bit too spicy for some of us but another fish dish our waitress recommended was fabulous! My dad was disappointed they did not offer the eggplant dish he enjoys at the downtown location. As we walked in I noticed it was very nicely decorated with cute palm tree inside of the building. Of course we sat at the bar but what a big mistake that was. Service was terrible!! Didn't have a nice friendly greeting it's not like they were super busy. The girl has what maybe 7 other people at the bar. We got our lumpia and it actually was good. But when she brought our food out that had been sitting for a while she didn't bother to give us napkins or extra plates. I was so turned off by the service that we decided to leave. Fat's is one of those "modern" Chinese restaurants just like a PF Changs where is all modern and clean , the opposite of a hole on the wall mom and pop Chinese joint. You can even partake in the full bar offerings. I'll have a cosmo with my wonton soup! Just kidding! Prices are kinda high, so I'm glad I'm on an expense account! I ordered the Singapore Noodles $23.00 described as stir-fried rice noodles with shrimp, barbecued pork, egg, and curry. I've had this dish before, but not for $23 bucks! Service was fine and the food arrived in a timely manner. I was by myself, so I just served myself off the plate. I gotta say this was a pretty good version, they got the curry balance right and not too much. It had a nice wok seared flavor you don't ever get at PF Chang's. Went to dinner Saturday night and got a few drinks. My Moscow mule was extremely full of ginger. We got the calamari and only one piece tasted like octopus. We also got honey walnut chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and chicken fried rice. The food was really good. We then got a piece of NY cheesecake with raspberry drizzles and some coffee. We drove down from Marysville after seeing the TV ads. The food looked great on screen, and the restaurant itself is beautifully decorated with a lovely Asian flair. It was very clean and quiet when we visited. We were seated right away, and waited on by Nev, and she was the highlight of the whole experience: Friendly, helpful, and genuinely attentive. We started with chicken pot stickers. They were okay, but nothing memorable. The two main dishes were the letdown, chicken chow mein and beef with broccoli. Both were surprisingly bland, with no sauce and very little seasoning if any. We didn't taste garlic, ginger, or even basic salt and pepper. Service was terrible. We had Cameron, I think that was the name on check. We never got the potstickers we ordered. We were told they would be removed from bill, and they were not, until we saw it still on the check and told them to remove it. He checked back with us after about 20 minutes of receiving our food. Never prebussed, never offered dessert. We had to ask for the check. I had to ask for more water. He would have gotten a much better tip, if he would have given better service.we both are very good tippers, but he didn't deserve more than a bare minimum. Came here for lunch the Friday to celebrate the Holidays; already busy right at opening (11:30 am). Temp felt like a perfect 72 degrees after coming in from the cold (52 outside). Warm and intimate lighting, but only a few unlit garlands and ornaments sprinkled throughout the restaurant (not a real Christmas feeling). All tables had customers doing gift exchanges and joyously having a great time. Definitely a place for meetings, gatherings and intimate dining. For our meal, we ordered the honey walnut chicken, which seemed small in portion compared to our other visits here. The wor wonton was hot and plentiful, and the crispy house chow mein was good, but a bit skimpy on the protein. Everything was tasty though; remember to order a side of the sauces (sweet chili, Chinese hot mustard, hot chili sauce). The latter 2 Will definitely add a kick to your dish and clear your nostrils! Other 3 star reviews were spot on IMO - the food is mediocre at best and waaay overpriced. It's more like an Asian Fusion, similar to PF Chang's, thats been quite Americanized and lost the food's authentic originality. Taste buds were not dancing, safe to say. Then what exactly are you paying for? Why priced so high? You're paying for prime time location and environment. Not prime time food. This place is very classy, gorgeous internal designs, spacious seating, plenty of parking in its shared Plaza with business offices, fantastic customer service, ambiance is perfect for social or professional gatherings and dates (family friendly, sure, but definitely not bringing our restless toddlers if there's ever a next time), and modest attire (not a shorts and flip flops kind of spot). Highlighted items on their menu are their signature go to's, so we tried 2 of these - Bulgogi pork lo mein (mild spicy) and vegetable fried rice with shrimp. Mediocre, nothing special, and mostly on the bland side. Tried their Canton fish and lumpia - again, mediocre. I've had much better (and much cheaper) versions of both at hole in the wall fast food spots and at home! Both my wife and I were fine with the food, but nothing that stood out as a "Mmmm yummy!" kind of feeling. Don't get me wrong, this place is VERY nice for some Asian grub! Give it a shot and don't let the 3 star reviews deter you from trying it out. May even prefer the flavors more on the subtle side and you'll also enjoy their gorgeous layout. (Felt like I was at the Tiki Bar in Disneyland.) Just not our cup of tea and honestly we prefer to stay away from "fusion" restaurants precisely for the above reasons. I wrote the following review on July 2, 2026: Went to Fats Restaurant for the first time on: July 2, 2026. Wanted to take my wife some place special for our 27th Wedding Anniversary. Inside the Restaurant looks nice with the Palm Trees and High Ceiling. However on the Negatives: 1. Asked our waitress for warm water - she brought out cold water 2. I ordered the Imperial Fried Rice with Pork - the Pork pieces were microscopic and not much taste beyond the rice taste. 3. My wife ordered the Vegetable Plate - came with (similar to the Pork) microscopic pieces of Brocolli and also no taste. 4. Waitress never came back to our table to ask if the food was ok. 5. Usually at nice restuarants at the end of the meal the waitress will ask if they can put the food in the boxes to take home - she only left the boxes on our table. So we paid our bill without a tip. Not a good experience to celebrate a Wedding Anniversary. We wont be coming back especially since we paid a lot of money for lousy service and not quality food! Management at Fat's Roseville did not respond (1 week later). So looks like this type of poor food quality and service is acceptable! read more

Getting caught up on my reviews and Fats is a place we enjoy coming to. Love that their Happy Hour goes on during the weekends when it's difficult to get everyone to meet before it ends. The food, drinks, and service has always been great. Love their garlic noodles and their dumplings are also a hit . I love their Har Gow. Sadly it seems like things have really taken a turn for the worse. Started dining here a long time ago, over 20 years? If I had to pick one word for the restaurant now- tired. Food that used to be top notch is just meh. It used to be pristine and now it feels like everything is a quick wipe down. The flickering lights in the bar show a lack of maintenance. Service was HORRIBLE - after we were served water our waiter was "done for the day" and we got another server. She didn't even know we hadn't ordered. Appetizers came out with entrees and 2 of the 7 entrees ordered were MIA (she "forgot" to enter them). Had to ask her to remove plates when we were done. "Forgot" about our birthday diner dessert and didn't offer anyone else dessert. Very Pan Asian fancy cuisine. Didn't like the pepper steak or Dan Dan noodles too much. The spice needed to be hotter and their chili oil was a bit salty. The garlic noodles, crab ragoons, and honey walnut shrimp were really good. I like that all the food wasn't oily. The banana cream pie and crème brûlée were surprise hits. We were the only Asian people in the restaurant . I guess that says something too. But overall it wasn't bad. I tried the Frank Fats downtown Sac location early this year so I wanted to try the Roseville location. I ordered the garlic noodles and honey walnut chicken. ​The garlic noodles were a fantastic surprise. The noodles themselves were cooked perfectly, and the combination of scallions, parmesan, and butter garlic sauce was absolutely delicious. The parmesan was a surprising addition, but it definitely worked, adding a lil sharpines to a savory dish. I'd rate this dish a 9.5 out of 10. I would totally get again. ​The honey walnut chicken was a bit more of a mixed experience. The sauce was great, but the coating on the chicken wasn't as even as I would have liked. It seemed like the sauce might have just been drizzled on top rather than mixed throughout, which is a shame because the sauce was good. There just wasn't enough of it to fully cover each piece. Same goes with whatever coating they put on it before they fried it. I understand that their honey walnut chicken is lightly fried, but I wasn't a fan of the inconsistency of the coating on the chicken. Their were some pieces that were fully covered in the flour mixture (I'm assuming)and sauce, and those were perfect, but the pieces that didn't have like any flour mixture or sauce on it, tasted extremely bland. If the coating would have been more consistent, this dish would have been a home run. I'd give the chicken a 7 out of 10. ​ Although I wasn't super impressed with the meat option, I would still recommend this restaurant. My experience at the Franks fat in Sac was a bit better so I'll give them a benefit of the doubt. I think you'll still leave happy. Just make sure you get the garlic noodles. It's not often that we're in the area so when we're driving back from Tahoe, why not stop for a quick bite. The dim sum basket was perfect as it included shrimp dumplings, pork shu mei, and chicken pot stickers. The honey walnut prawns is a staple no matter where we go and it was lightly fried and glazed perfectly with honey sauce, walnuts, and sesame seeds. The Mongolian Beef was definitely spicy, a little too spicy for us to enjoy without needing to tank water. I enjoyed the ahi poke, it was served decoratively, but I emptied it onto my plate so I could get a bite of each item in the glass. The Dan Dan noodles were our least favorite. It's Lo mein noodles with ground chicken and sauce, it wasn't very flavorful for us. The server was nice and attentive, the place is spacious and it wasn't very busy or noisy during their lunch hours on a Tuesday. We planned to go for appetizers and dessert as our primary reason was for the banana cream pie. But ended up ordering the Misoyaki Cod and the Genghis Khan Beef. We had to take the pie and Genghis Khan Beef to go because we shared the Misoyaki Cod and savored every bite! It was stunning! The black rice alone was tasty and then when you add the cod and the sauce and the shiitake mushrooms, it was an experience!!! Found a couple of chairs at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks and a couple of small plates. Had some Baos, Crispy Honey Shrimp and Spareribs. I had a Manhattan which was good. The Baos were good but not a lot of filling. The shrimp was good as usual but the spareribs were very fatty. We couldn't finish them. The reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5 is although the food is prepared very well, it was very good but not great. I guess this is really a fusion restaurant and caters to non-Asian taste. There were no Asians in the restaurant not even on staff! And this is supposed to be an Asian restaurant. But that's not what we came for, the food was still very good and the service was wonderful. If I wanted authentic Asian food, I would go across the street to the other mall where there is a restaurant with authentically Asian food. We heard about this restaurant, so we decided to try their takeout service. Their website ordering process was easy enough, but you have to be alert because the tip charge defaults to 20%. We placed our order at 5:00 pm and were advised the order would be ready for pickup at 5:30pm. We arrived on time, but our order wasn't ready. As a matter of fact, they had no record of it until I told them our credit card was already charged and showed them the email receipt with the order number. The cashier excused herself for a few minutes and returned saying your order will be right up. No apology, no explanation other than "you can wait over there", which we did for another 45 minutes. We were finally called to pick up our order and was as asked if we wanted any sauces, napkins, chop sticks, fortune cookies even though all these were requested at the time of the order. We got a thank you, no apology, no small comp, no smile. This was no small order, almost $110.00 for two entrées, fried rice and lumpia. Very small potions, except for the fried rice, go figure, and way OVERPRICED! Obviously, they didn't appreciate our business on a cold and rainy night. Ladies night out! We didn't realize there were Tuesday nite specials. Bonus! There were four of us so we each chose a dish plus an order of steamed rice. Everything was tasty.
